1 Corinthians

Chapter 2
1
Phonetic (Greek): Kago elthon pros hymas, adelphoi, elthon oy kathʼ hyperochen logou e sophias katangellon hymin to ⸀martyrion toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And I, brothers, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.

2
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar ekrina ⸂ti eidenai⸃ en hymin ei me Ἰesoyn Christon kai toyton estauromenon·
Edified Edition (EDE)For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

3
Phonetic (Greek): kago en astheneiᾳ kai en phobῳ kai en tromῳ pollῷ egenomen pros hymas,
Edified Edition (EDE)I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.

4
Phonetic (Greek): kai ho logos mou kai to kerygma mou oyk en ⸂peithoi sophias⸃ allʼ en apodeixei pneymatos kai dynameos,
Edified Edition (EDE)And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

5
Phonetic (Greek): hina he pistis hymon me e en sophiᾳ anthropon allʼ en dynamei theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

6
Phonetic (Greek): Sophian de laloymen en tois teleiois, sophian de oy toy aionos toytou oyde ton archonton toy aionos toytou ton katargoumenon·
Edified Edition (EDE)However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

7
Phonetic (Greek): alla laloymen ⸂theoy sophian⸃ en mysteriῳ, ten apokekrymmenen, hen proorisen ho theos pro ton aionon eis doxan hemon·
Edified Edition (EDE)But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,

8
Phonetic (Greek): hen oydeis ton archonton toy aionos toytou egnoken, ei gar egnosan, oyk an ton kyrion tes doxes estayrosan·
Edified Edition (EDE)which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9
Phonetic (Greek): alla kathos gegraptai· Ἃ ophthalmos oyk eiden kai oys oyk ekousen kai epi kardian anthropou oyk anebe, ⸀hosa hetoimasen ho theos tois agaposin ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

10
Phonetic (Greek): hemin ⸀gar ⸂apekalypsen ho theos⸃ dia toy ⸀pneymatos, to gar pneyma panta eraunᾷ, kai ta bathe toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

11
Phonetic (Greek): tis gar oiden anthropon ta toy anthropou ei me to pneyma toy anthropou to en aytῷ; ohytos kai ta toy theoy oydeis ⸀egnoken ei me to pneyma toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

12
Phonetic (Greek): hemeis de oy to pneyma toy kosmou elabomen alla to pneyma to ek toy theoy, hina eidomen ta hypo toy theoy charisthenta hemin·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

Edified Edition (EDE)These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14
Phonetic (Greek): Psychikos de anthropos oy dechetai ta toy pneymatos toy theoy, moria gar aytῷ estin, kai oy dynatai gnonai, hoti pneumatikos anakrinetai·
Edified Edition (EDE)But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15
Phonetic (Greek): ho de pneumatikos anakrinei ⸀ta panta, aytos de hypʼ oydenos anakrinetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

16
Phonetic (Greek): tis gar egno noyn kyriou, hos symbibasei ayton; hemeis de noyn Christoy echomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
