1 Corinthians

Chapter 3
1
Phonetic (Greek): Kago, adelphoi, oyk edynethen ⸂lalesai hymin⸃ hos pneumatikois allʼ hos ⸀sarkinois, hos nepiois en Christῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And I, brothers, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.

2
Phonetic (Greek): gala hymas epotisa, ⸀oy broma, oypo gar edynasthe. allʼ ⸀oyde eti nyn dynasthe,
Edified Edition (EDE)I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;

3
Phonetic (Greek): eti gar sarkikoi este. hopou gar en hymin zelos kai ⸀eris, oychi sarkikoi este kai kata anthropon peripateite;
Edified Edition (EDE)for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

ἔτι γὰρ σαρκικοί ἐστε. ὅπου γὰρ ἐν ὑμῖν ζῆλος καὶ ⸀ἔρις, οὐχὶ σαρκικοί ἐστε καὶ κατὰ ἄνθρωπον περιπατεῖτε;

4
Phonetic (Greek): hotan gar legῃ tis· Ἐgo men eimi Paylou, heteros de· Ἐgo Ἀpollo, ⸂oyk anthropoi⸃ este;
Edified Edition (EDE)For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not carnal?

ὅταν γὰρ λέγῃ τις· Ἐγὼ μέν εἰμι Παύλου, ἕτερος δέ· Ἐγὼ Ἀπολλῶ, ⸂οὐκ ἄνθρωποί⸃ ἐστε;

5
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Ti oyn estin ⸂Ἀpollos; ti de estin Paylos⸃; ⸀diakonoi diʼ hon episteysate, kai hekastῳ hos ho kyrios edoken.
Edified Edition (EDE)Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?

6
Phonetic (Greek): ego ephyteusa, Ἀpollos epotisen, alla ho theos eyxanen·
Edified Edition (EDE)I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.

7
Phonetic (Greek): hoste oyte ho phyteyon estin ti oyte ho potizon, allʼ ho ayxanon theos.
Edified Edition (EDE)So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

8
Phonetic (Greek): ho phyteyon de kai ho potizon hen eisin, hekastos de ton idion misthon lempsetai kata ton idion kopon,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labour.

9
Phonetic (Greek): theoy gar esmen synergoi· theoy georgion, theoy oikodome este.
Edified Edition (EDE)For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.

10
Phonetic (Greek): Kata ten charin toy theoy ten dotheisan moi hos sophos architekton themelion ⸀etheka, allos de epoikodomei. hekastos de blepeto pos epoikodomei·
Edified Edition (EDE)According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.

11
Phonetic (Greek): themelion gar allon oydeis dynatai theinai para ton keimenon, hos estin Ἰesoys Christos·
Edified Edition (EDE)For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12
Phonetic (Greek): ei de tis epoikodomei epi ton ⸀themelion ⸂chryson, argyron⸃, lithous timious, xyla, chorton, kalamen,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

13
Phonetic (Greek): hekastou to ergon phaneron genesetai, he gar hemera delosei· hoti en pyri apokalyptetai, kai hekastou to ergon hopoion estin to pyr ⸀ayto dokimasei.
Edified Edition (EDE)each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

14
Phonetic (Greek): ei tinos to ergon menei ho epoikodomesen, misthon lempsetai·
Edified Edition (EDE)If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.

15
Phonetic (Greek): ei tinos to ergon katakaesetai, zemiothesetai, aytos de sothesetai, ohytos de hos dia pyros.
Edified Edition (EDE)If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

16
Phonetic (Greek): Oyk oidate hoti naos theoy este kai to pneyma toy theoy ⸂oikei en hymin⸃;
Edified Edition (EDE)Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ναὸς θεοῦ ἐστε καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ θεοῦ ⸂οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν⸃;

17
Phonetic (Greek): ei tis ton naon toy theoy phtheirei, phtherei toyton ho theos· ho gar naos toy theoy hagios estin, ohitines este hymeis.
Edified Edition (EDE)If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

18
Phonetic (Greek): Medeis heauton exapatato· ei tis dokei sophos einai en hymin en tῷ aioni toytῳ, moros genestho, hina genetai sophos,
Edified Edition (EDE)Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

19
Phonetic (Greek): he gar sophia toy kosmou toytou moria para tῷ theῷ estin· gegraptai gar· Ὁ drassomenos toys sophoys en tῇ panourgiᾳ ayton·
Edified Edition (EDE)For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness";

20
Phonetic (Greek): kai palin· Kyrios ginoskei toys dialogismoys ton sophon hoti eisin mataioi.
Edified Edition (EDE)and again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."

21
Phonetic (Greek): hoste medeis kauchastho en anthropois· panta gar hymon estin,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore let no one glory in men. For all things are yours:

22
Phonetic (Greek): eite Paylos eite Ἀpollos eite Kephas eite kosmos eite zoe eite thanatos eite enestota eite mellonta, panta ⸀hymon,
Edified Edition (EDE)whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come, all are yours.

23
Phonetic (Greek): hymeis de Christoy, Christos de theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.
