Chapter 4
1
Phonetic (Greek): Christoy oyn ⸀pathontos sarki kai hymeis ten ayten ennoian hoplisasthe, hoti ho ⸀pathon sarki pepautai ⸀hamartias,
Edified Edition (EDE)Since then Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

2
Phonetic (Greek): eis to meketi anthropon epithymiais alla thelemati theoy ton epiloipon en sarki biosai chronon.
Edified Edition (EDE)That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of people, but to the will of God.

3
Phonetic (Greek): arketos ⸀gar ho parelelythos ⸀chronos to ⸀boylema ton ethnon ⸀kateirgasthai, peporeumenous en aselgeiais, epithymiais, oinophlygiais, komois, potois, kai athemitois eidololatriais.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the time past of our life may suffice us to have done the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4
Phonetic (Greek): en ho xenizontai me syntrechonton hymon eis ten ayten tes asotias anachysin, blasphemoyntes·
Edified Edition (EDE)In which they think it strange that you run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5
Phonetic (Greek): ohi apodosousin logon tῷ hetoimos ⸂echonti krinai⸃ zontas kai nekroys·
Edified Edition (EDE)Who shall give account to Him who is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6
Phonetic (Greek): eis toyto gar kai nekrois eyengelisthe hina krithosi men kata anthropous sarki zosi de kata theon pneymati.
Edified Edition (EDE)For for this cause was the gospel preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to people in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7
Phonetic (Greek): Panton de to telos engiken. sophronesate oyn kai nepsate ⸀eis proseuchas·
Edified Edition (EDE)But the end of all things is at hand: be you therefore sober, and watch to prayer.

8
Phonetic (Greek): pro ⸀panton ten eis heautoys agapen ektene echontes, hoti agape ⸀kalyptei plethos hamartion·
Edified Edition (EDE)And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins.

9
Phonetic (Greek): philoxenoi eis allelous aneu ⸀gongysmoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10
Phonetic (Greek): hekastos kathos elaben charisma, eis heautoys ayto diakonoyntes hos kaloi oikonomoi poikiles charitos theoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)As every person has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11
Phonetic (Greek): ei tis lalei, hos logia theoy· ei tis diakonei, hos ex ischyos ⸀hes choregei ho theos· hina en pasin doxazetai ho theos dia Ἰesoy Christoy, ho estin he doxa kai to kratos eis toys aionas ton aionon· amen.
Edified Edition (EDE)If any person speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any person ministers, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀgapetoi, me xenizesthe tῇ en hymin pyrosei pros peirasmon hymin ginomenῃ hos xenou hymin symbainontos,
Edified Edition (EDE)Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:

13
Phonetic (Greek): alla katho koinoneite tois toy Christoy pathemasin chairete, hina kai en tῇ apokalypsei tes doxes aytoy charete agalliomenoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14
Phonetic (Greek): ei oneidizesthe en onomati Christoy, makarioi, hoti to tes doxes kai to toy theoy pneyma ephʼ hymas ⸀anapayetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)If you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified.

15
Phonetic (Greek): me gar tis hymon pascheto hos phoneys e kleptes e kakopoios e hos allotriepiskopos·
Edified Edition (EDE)But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.

Edified Edition (EDE)Yet if any person suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17
Phonetic (Greek): hoti ho kairos toy arxasthai to krima apo toy oikou toy theoy· ei de proton aphʼ hemon, ti to telos ton apeithoynton tῷ toy theoy eyangeliῳ;
Edified Edition (EDE)For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of those who obey not the gospel of God?

ὅτι ὁ καιρὸς τοῦ ἄρξασθαι τὸ κρίμα ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ· εἰ δὲ πρῶτον ἀφʼ ἡμῶν, τί τὸ τέλος τῶν ἀπειθούντων τῷ τοῦ θεοῦ εὐαγγελίῳ;

18
Phonetic (Greek): kai ei ho dikaios molis sῴzetai, ⸀ho asebes kai hamartolos poy phaneitai;
Edified Edition (EDE)And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

καὶ εἰ ὁ δίκαιος μόλις σῴζεται, ⸀ὁ ἀσεβὴς καὶ ἁμαρτωλὸς ποῦ φανεῖται;

19
Phonetic (Greek): hoste kai ohi paschontes kata to thelema toy ⸀theoy pistῷ ktistῃ paratithesthosan tas psychas ⸀ayton en agathopoiiᾳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Wherefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as to a faithful Creator.
