Chapter 5
1
Phonetic (Greek): Presbyterous ⸀oyn en hymin parakalo ho sympresbyteros kai martys ton toy Christoy pathematon, ho kai tes melloyses apokalyptesthai doxes koinonos,
Edified Edition (EDE)The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2
Phonetic (Greek): poimanate to en hymin poimnion toy theoy, ⸀episkopoyntes me anankastos alla hekousios ⸂kata theon⸃, mede aischrokerdos alla prothymos,
Edified Edition (EDE)Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for greedy gain, but of a ready mind;

3
Phonetic (Greek): medʼ hos katakyrieyontes ton kleron alla typoi ginomenoi toy poimniou·
Edified Edition (EDE)Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.

4
Phonetic (Greek): kai phanerothentos toy archipoimenos komieisthe ton amarantinon tes doxes stephanon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.

5
Phonetic (Greek): homoios, neoteroi, hypotagete presbyterois. pantes de ⸀allelois ten tapeinophrosynen enkombosasthe, hoti Ὁ theos hyperephanois antitassetai tapeinois de didosin charin.
Edified Edition (EDE)Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

6
Phonetic (Greek): Tapeinothete oyn hypo ten krataian cheira toy theoy, hina hymas hypsosῃ en kairῷ,
Edified Edition (EDE)Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:

7
Phonetic (Greek): pasan ten merimnan hymon epiripsantes epʼ ayton, hoti aytῷ melei peri hymon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Casting all your care upon Him; for He cares for you.

8
Phonetic (Greek): nepsate, gregoresate. ho antidikos hymon diabolos hos leon oryomenos peripatei zeton ⸀tina ⸀katapiein·
Edified Edition (EDE)Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:

9
Phonetic (Greek): ho antistete stereoi tῇ pistei, eidotes ta ayta ton pathematon tῇ en ⸀tῷ kosmῳ hymon adelphoteti epiteleisthai.
Edified Edition (EDE)Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brothers who are in the world.

10
Phonetic (Greek): ho de theos pases charitos, ho kalesas hymas eis ten aionion aytoy doxan en ⸀Christῷ, oligon pathontas aytos ⸀katartisei, sterixei, sthenosei, ⸀themeliosei.
Edified Edition (EDE)But the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.

11
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀aytῷ to kratos eis toys aionas ⸂ton aionon⸃· amen.
Edified Edition (EDE)To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Dia Silouanoy hymin toy pistoy adelphoy, hos logizomai, diʼ oligon egrapsa, parakalon kai epimartyron tayten einai alethe charin toy theoy· eis hen ⸀stete.
Edified Edition (EDE)By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

13
Phonetic (Greek): aspazetai hymas he en Babyloni syneklekte kai Markos ho yhios mou.
Edified Edition (EDE)The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, greets you; and so does Marcus my son.

14
Phonetic (Greek): aspasasthe allelous en philemati agapes. eirene hymin pasin tois en ⸀Christῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
