1 Thessalonians

Chapter 3
1
Phonetic (Greek): Dio meketi stegontes eydokesamen kataleiphthenai en Ἀthenais monoi,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone,

2
Phonetic (Greek): kai epempsamen Timotheon, ton adelphon hemon kai ⸀synergon toy ⸀theoy en tῷ eyangeliῳ toy Christoy, eis to sterixai hymas kai parakalesai ⸀hyper tes pisteos hymon
Edified Edition (EDE)and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith,

3
Phonetic (Greek): to medena sainesthai en tais thlipsesin taytais. aytoi gar oidate hoti eis toyto keimetha·
Edified Edition (EDE)that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.

4
Phonetic (Greek): kai gar hote pros hymas emen, proelegomen hymin hoti mellomen thlibesthai, kathos kai egeneto kai oidate.
Edified Edition (EDE)For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.

5
Phonetic (Greek): dia toyto kago meketi stegon epempsa eis to gnonai ten pistin hymon, me pos epeirasen hymas ho peirazon kai eis kenon genetai ho kopos hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labour might be in vain.

6
Phonetic (Greek): Ἄrti de elthontos Timotheou pros hemas aphʼ hymon kai eyangelisamenou hemin ten pistin kai ten agapen hymon, kai hoti echete mneian hemon agathen pantote epipothoyntes hemas idein kathaper kai hemeis hymas,
Edified Edition (EDE)But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you,

7
Phonetic (Greek): dia toyto pareklethemen, adelphoi, ephʼ hymin epi pasῃ tῇ ⸂anankῃ kai thlipsei⸃ hemon dia tes hymon pisteos,
Edified Edition (EDE)therefore, brothers, in all our affliction and distress we were comforted concerning you by your faith.

8
Phonetic (Greek): hoti nyn zomen ean hymeis stekete en kyriῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.

9
Phonetic (Greek): tina gar eycharistian dynametha tῷ theῷ antapodoynai peri hymon epi pasῃ tῇ charᾷ he chairomen diʼ hymas emprosthen toy theoy hemon,
Edified Edition (EDE)For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sake before our God,

10
Phonetic (Greek): nyktos kai hemeras hyperekperissoy deomenoi eis to idein hymon to prosopon kai katartisai ta hysteremata tes pisteos hymon;
Edified Edition (EDE)night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith?

νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ δεόμενοι εἰς τὸ ἰδεῖν ὑμῶν τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ καταρτίσαι τὰ ὑστερήματα τῆς πίστεως ὑμῶν;

11
Phonetic (Greek): Aytos de ho theos kai pater hemon kai ho kyrios hemon ⸀Ἰesoys kateuthynai ten hodon hemon pros hymas·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you.

12
Phonetic (Greek): hymas de ho kyrios pleonasai kai perisseysai tῇ agapῃ eis allelous kai eis pantas, kathaper kai hemeis eis hymas,
Edified Edition (EDE)And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you,

13
Phonetic (Greek): eis to sterixai hymon tas kardias amemptous en hagiosynῃ emprosthen toy theoy kai patros hemon en tῇ parousiᾳ toy kyriou hemon ⸀Ἰesoy meta panton ton hagion ⸀aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
