2 Corinthians

Chapter 10
1
Phonetic (Greek): Aytos de ego Paylos parakalo hymas dia tes praytetos kai epieikeias toy Christoy, hos kata prosopon men tapeinos en hymin, apon de tharro eis hymas·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.

2
Phonetic (Greek): deomai de to me paron tharresai tῇ pepoithesei he logizomai tolmesai epi tinas toys logizomenous hemas hos kata sarka peripatoyntas.
Edified Edition (EDE)But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

3
Phonetic (Greek): en sarki gar peripatoyntes oy kata sarka strateuometha—
Edified Edition (EDE)For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

4
Phonetic (Greek): ta gar hopla tes strateias hemon oy sarkika alla dynata tῷ theῷ pros kathairesin ochyromaton— logismoys kathairoyntes
Edified Edition (EDE)For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

5
Phonetic (Greek): kai pan hypsoma epairomenon kata tes gnoseos toy theoy, kai aichmalotizontes pan noema eis ten hypakoen toy Christoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

6
Phonetic (Greek): kai en hetoimῳ echontes ekdikesai pasan parakoen, hotan plerothῇ hymon he hypakoe.
Edified Edition (EDE)and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

7
Phonetic (Greek): Ta kata prosopon blepete. ei tis pepoithen heautῷ Christoy einai, toyto logizestho palin ⸀ephʼ heautoy hoti kathos aytos Christoy ohytos kai ⸀hemeis.
Edified Edition (EDE)Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? If anyone is convinced in himself that he is Christ’s, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ’s, even so we are Christ’s.

8
Phonetic (Greek): ean ⸀te ⸀gar perissoteron ti kauchesomai peri tes exousias hemon, hes edoken ho ⸀kyrios eis oikodomen kai oyk eis kathairesin hymon, oyk aischynthesomai,
Edified Edition (EDE)For even if I should boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed,

9
Phonetic (Greek): hina me doxo hos an ekphobein hymas dia ton epistolon·
Edified Edition (EDE)lest I seem to terrify you by letters.

10
Phonetic (Greek): hoti Ahi ⸂epistolai men⸃, phesin, bareiai kai ischyrai, he de parousia toy somatos asthenes kai ho logos exouthenemenos.
Edified Edition (EDE)"For his letters," they say, "are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible."

11
Phonetic (Greek): toyto logizestho ho toioytos, hoti ohioi esmen tῷ logῳ diʼ epistolon apontes, toioytoi kai parontes tῷ ergῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such we will also be in deed when we are present.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Oy gar tolmomen enkrinai e synkrinai heautoys tisin ton heautoys synistanonton· alla aytoi en heautois heautoys metroyntes kai synkrinontes heautoys heautois oy syniasin.
Edified Edition (EDE)For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

13
Phonetic (Greek): hemeis de ⸀oyk eis ta ametra kauchesometha, alla kata to metron toy kanonos ohy emerisen hemin ho theos metrou, ephikesthai achri kai hymon—
Edified Edition (EDE)We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us, a sphere which especially includes you.

14
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar hos me ephiknoymenoi eis hymas hyperekteinomen heautoys, achri gar kai hymon ephthasamen en tῷ eyangeliῳ toy Christoy—
Edified Edition (EDE)For we are not overextending ourselves (as though we did not reach you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ;

15
Phonetic (Greek): oyk eis ta ametra kauchomenoi en allotriois kopois, elpida de echontes ayxanomenes tes pisteos hymon en hymin megalynthenai kata ton kanona hemon eis perisseian,
Edified Edition (EDE)not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in other men’s labours, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere,

16
Phonetic (Greek): eis ta hyperekeina hymon eyangelisasthai, oyk en allotriῳ kanoni eis ta hetoima kauchesasthai.
Edified Edition (EDE)to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s sphere of accomplishment.

17
Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ de kauchomenos en kyriῳ kauchastho·
Edified Edition (EDE)But "he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."

18
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar ho heauton ⸀synistanon, ekeinos estin dokimos, alla hon ho kyrios synistesin.
Edified Edition (EDE)For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
