2 Corinthians

Chapter 12
1
Phonetic (Greek): Kauchasthai ⸀dei· oy ⸂sympheron men⸃, eleysomai ⸀de eis optasias kai apokalypseis kyriou.
Edified Edition (EDE)It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord:

2
Phonetic (Greek): oida anthropon en Christῷ pro eton dekatessaron— eite en somati oyk oida, eite ektos toy somatos oyk oida, ho theos oiden— harpagenta ton toioyton heos tritou oyranoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago, whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows, such a one was caught up to the third heaven.

3
Phonetic (Greek): kai oida ton toioyton anthropon— eite en somati eite ⸀choris toy somatos oyk oida, ho theos oiden—
Edified Edition (EDE)And I know such a man, whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows,

4
Phonetic (Greek): hoti herpage eis ton paradeison kai ekousen arreta ῥemata ha oyk exon anthropῳ lalesai.
Edified Edition (EDE)how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

5
Phonetic (Greek): hyper toy toioytou kauchesomai, hyper de emautoy oy kauchesomai ei me en tais ⸀astheneiais.
Edified Edition (EDE)Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities.

6
Phonetic (Greek): ean gar theleso kauchesasthai, oyk esomai aphron, aletheian gar ero· pheidomai de, me tis eis eme logisetai hyper ho blepei me e akoyei ⸀ti ex emoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me.

7
Phonetic (Greek): kai tῇ hyperbolῇ ton apokalypseon. ⸀dio hina me hyperairomai, edothe moi skolops tῇ sarki, angelos ⸀Satana, hina me kolaphizῃ, ⸂hina me hyperairomai⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

8
Phonetic (Greek): hyper toytou tris ton kyrion parekalesa hina apostῇ apʼ emoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

9
Phonetic (Greek): kai eireken moi· Ἀrkei soi he charis mou· he gar ⸀dynamis en astheneiᾳ ⸀teleitai. hedista oyn mallon kauchesomai en tais astheneiais ⸀mou, hina episkenosῃ epʼ eme he dynamis toy Christoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He said to me, [JESUS]"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."[/JESUS] Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10
Phonetic (Greek): dio eydoko en astheneiais, en hybresin, en anankais, en diogmois ⸀kai stenochoriais, hyper Christoy· hotan gar astheno, tote dynatos eimi.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

11
Phonetic (Greek): Gegona ⸀aphron· hymeis me enankasate· ego gar opheilon hyphʼ hymon synistasthai. oyden gar hysteresa ton hyperlian apostolon, ei kai oyden eimi·
Edified Edition (EDE)I have become a fool in boasting; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you; for in nothing was I inferior to the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing.

Edified Edition (EDE)Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.

13
Phonetic (Greek): ti gar estin ho ⸀hessothete hyper tas loipas ekklesias, ei me hoti aytos ego oy katenarkesa hymon; charisasthe moi ten adikian tayten.
Edified Edition (EDE)For what is it in which you were inferior to other churches, except that I myself was not burdensome to you? Forgive me this wrong!

14
Phonetic (Greek): Ἰdoy triton ⸀toyto hetoimos echo elthein pros hymas, kai oy ⸀katanarkeso· oy gar zeto ta hymon alla hymas, oy gar opheilei ta tekna tois goneysin thesaurizein, alla ohi goneis tois teknois.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

15
Phonetic (Greek): ego de hedista dapaneso kai ekdapanethesomai hyper ton psychon hymon. ⸀ei perissoteros hymas ⸀agapon, hesson agapomai;
Edified Edition (EDE)And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

ἐγὼ δὲ ἥδιστα δαπανήσω καὶ ἐκδαπανηθήσομαι ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν. ⸀εἰ περισσοτέρως ὑμᾶς ⸀ἀγαπῶν, ἧσσον ἀγαπῶμαι;

16
Phonetic (Greek): esto de, ego oy katebaresa hymas· alla hyparchon panoyrgos dolῳ hymas elabon.
Edified Edition (EDE)But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by guile!

17
Phonetic (Greek): me tina hon apestalka pros hymas, diʼ aytoy epleonektesa hymas;
Edified Edition (EDE)Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to you?

μή τινα ὧν ἀπέσταλκα πρὸς ὑμᾶς, διʼ αὐτοῦ ἐπλεονέκτησα ὑμᾶς;

18
Phonetic (Greek): parekalesa Titon kai synapesteila ton adelphon· meti epleonektesen hymas Titos; oy tῷ aytῷ pneymati periepatesamen; oy tois aytois ichnesin;
Edified Edition (EDE)I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps?

παρεκάλεσα Τίτον καὶ συναπέστειλα τὸν ἀδελφόν· μήτι ἐπλεονέκτησεν ὑμᾶς Τίτος; οὐ τῷ αὐτῷ πνεύματι περιεπατήσαμεν; οὐ τοῖς αὐτοῖς ἴχνεσιν;

19
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Palai dokeite hoti hymin apologoymetha; ⸀katenanti theoy en Christῷ laloymen. ta de panta, agapetoi, hyper tes hymon oikodomes,
Edified Edition (EDE)Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your edification.

20
Phonetic (Greek): phoboymai gar me pos elthon oych ohious thelo ehyro hymas, kago ehyretho hymin ohion oy thelete, me pos ⸀eris, ⸀zelos, thymoi, eritheiai, katalaliai, psithyrismoi, physioseis, akatastasiai·
Edified Edition (EDE)For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

21
Phonetic (Greek): me palin ⸂elthontos mou⸃ ⸀tapeinosῃ ⸀me ho theos mou pros hymas, kai pentheso polloys ton proemartekoton kai me metanoesanton epi tῇ akatharsiᾳ kai porneiᾳ kai aselgeiᾳ he epraxan.
Edified Edition (EDE)lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practised.
