2 Corinthians

Chapter 3
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀrchometha palin heautoys ⸀synistanein; ⸀e me chrῄzomen hos tines systatikon epistolon pros hymas e ex ⸀hymon;
Edified Edition (EDE)Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you?

Ἀρχόμεθα πάλιν ἑαυτοὺς ⸀συνιστάνειν; ⸀ἢ μὴ χρῄζομεν ὥς τινες συστατικῶν ἐπιστολῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἢ ἐξ ⸀ὑμῶν;

2
Phonetic (Greek): he epistole hemon hymeis este, engegrammene en tais kardiais hemon, ginoskomene kai anaginoskomene hypo panton anthropon·
Edified Edition (EDE)You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men;

3
Phonetic (Greek): phaneroymenoi hoti este epistole Christoy diakonetheisa hyphʼ hemon, engegrammene oy melani alla pneymati theoy zontos, oyk en plaxin lithinais allʼ en plaxin kardiais sarkinais.
Edified Edition (EDE)clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

4
Phonetic (Greek): Pepoithesin de toiayten echomen dia toy Christoy pros ton theon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And we have such trust through Christ toward God.

5
Phonetic (Greek): oych hoti ⸂aphʼ heauton hikanoi esmen⸃ logisasthai ti hos ex ⸀ahyton, allʼ he hikanotes hemon ek toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,

6
Phonetic (Greek): hos kai hikanosen hemas diakonous kaines diathekes, oy grammatos alla pneymatos, to gar gramma apoktennei, to de pneyma zῳopoiei.
Edified Edition (EDE)who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

7
Phonetic (Greek): Ei de he diakonia toy thanatou en ⸀grammasin ⸀entetypomene lithois egenethe en doxῃ, hoste me dynasthai atenisai toys yhioys Ἰsrael eis to prosopon Moyseos dia ten doxan toy prosopou aytoy ten katargoumenen,
Edified Edition (EDE)But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,

8
Phonetic (Greek): pos oychi mallon he diakonia toy pneymatos estai en doxῃ;
Edified Edition (EDE)how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

πῶς οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἡ διακονία τοῦ πνεύματος ἔσται ἐν δόξῃ;

9
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar ⸂tῇ diakoniᾳ⸃ tes katakriseos doxa, pollῷ mallon perisseyei he diakonia tes ⸀dikaiosynes doxῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

10
Phonetic (Greek): kai gar oy dedoxastai to dedoxasmenon en toytῳ tῷ merei ⸀ehineken tes hyperballoyses doxes·
Edified Edition (EDE)For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.

11
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar to katargoymenon dia doxes, pollῷ mallon to menon en doxῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Ἔchontes oyn toiayten elpida pollῇ parresiᾳ chrometha,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech,

13
Phonetic (Greek): kai oy kathaper Moyses etithei kalymma epi to prosopon ⸀aytoy, pros to me atenisai toys yhioys Ἰsrael eis to telos toy katargoumenou.
Edified Edition (EDE)unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly at the end of what was passing away.

14
Phonetic (Greek): alla eporothe ta noemata ayton. achri gar tes semeron ⸀hemeras to ayto kalymma epi tῇ anagnosei tes palaias diathekes menei me anakalyptomenon, ⸀hoti en Christῷ katargeitai,
Edified Edition (EDE)But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

15
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ heos semeron henika ⸂an anaginosketai⸃ Moyses kalymma epi ten kardian ayton keitai·
Edified Edition (EDE)But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.

16
Phonetic (Greek): henika ⸂de ean⸃ epistrepsῃ pros kyrion, periaireitai to kalymma.
Edified Edition (EDE)Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

17
Phonetic (Greek): ho de kyrios to pneyma estin· ohy de to pneyma ⸀kyriou, eleutheria.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

18
Phonetic (Greek): hemeis de pantes anakekalymmenῳ prosopῳ ten doxan kyriou katoptrizomenoi ten ayten eikona metamorphoymetha apo doxes eis doxan, kathaper apo kyriou pneymatos.
Edified Edition (EDE)But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
