2 Thessalonians

Chapter 2
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ἐrotomen de hymas, adelphoi, hyper tes parousias toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy Christoy kai hemon episynagoges epʼ ayton,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,

2
Phonetic (Greek): eis to me tacheos saleuthenai hymas apo toy noos ⸀mede throeisthai mete dia pneymatos mete dia logou mete diʼ epistoles hos diʼ hemon, hos hoti enesteken he hemera toy ⸀kyriou.
Edified Edition (EDE)not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.

3
Phonetic (Greek): me tis hymas exapatesῃ kata medena tropon· hoti ean me elthῃ he apostasia proton kai apokalyphthῇ ho anthropos tes ⸀anomias, ho yhios tes apoleias,
Edified Edition (EDE)Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

4
Phonetic (Greek): ho antikeimenos kai hyperairomenos epi panta legomenon theon e sebasma, hoste ayton eis ton naon toy ⸀theoy kathisai apodeiknynta heauton hoti estin theos.
Edified Edition (EDE)who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

5
Phonetic (Greek): oy mnemoneyete hoti eti on pros hymas tayta elegon hymin;
Edified Edition (EDE)Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?

οὐ μνημονεύετε ὅτι ἔτι ὢν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ταῦτα ἔλεγον ὑμῖν;

6
Phonetic (Greek): kai nyn to katechon oidate, eis to apokalyphthenai ayton en tῷ ⸀heautoy kairῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.

7
Phonetic (Greek): to gar mysterion ede energeitai tes anomias· monon ho katechon arti heos ek mesou genetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

8
Phonetic (Greek): kai tote apokalyphthesetai ho anomos, hon ho kyrios ⸀Ἰesoys ⸀anelei tῷ pneymati toy stomatos aytoy kai katargesei tῇ epiphaneiᾳ tes parousias aytoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

9
Phonetic (Greek): ohy estin he parousia katʼ energeian toy Satana en pasῃ dynamei kai semeiois kai terasin pseydous
Edified Edition (EDE)The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

10
Phonetic (Greek): kai en pasῃ apatῃ ⸀adikias tois apollymenois, anthʼ hon ten agapen tes aletheias oyk edexanto eis to sothenai aytoys·
Edified Edition (EDE)and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11
Phonetic (Greek): kai dia toyto ⸀pempei aytois ho theos energeian planes eis to pisteysai aytoys tῷ pseydei,
Edified Edition (EDE)And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

12
Phonetic (Greek): hina krithosin ⸀pantes ohi me pisteysantes tῇ aletheiᾳ alla eydokesantes ⸀tῇ adikiᾳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13
Phonetic (Greek): Ἡmeis de opheilomen eycharistein tῷ theῷ pantote peri hymon, adelphoi egapemenoi hypo kyriou, hoti ehilato hymas ho theos ⸀aparchen eis soterian en hagiasmῷ pneymatos kai pistei aletheias,
Edified Edition (EDE)But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

14
Phonetic (Greek): eis ⸀ho ekalesen hymas dia toy eyangeliou hemon, eis peripoiesin doxes toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy Christoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15
Phonetic (Greek): ara oyn, adelphoi, stekete, kai krateite tas paradoseis has edidachthete eite dia logou eite diʼ epistoles hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, brothers, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.

16
Phonetic (Greek): Aytos de ho kyrios hemon Ἰesoys Christos kai ⸀theos ⸀ho pater hemon, ho agapesas hemas kai doys paraklesin aionian kai elpida agathen en chariti,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace,

17
Phonetic (Greek): parakalesai hymon tas kardias kai ⸀sterixai en panti ⸂ergῳ kai logῳ⸃ agathῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.
