Edified Edition (EDE)There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

Ἀνὴρ δέ ⸀τις ἐν Καισαρείᾳ ὀνόματι Κορνήλιος, ἑκατοντάρχης ἐκ σπείρης τῆς καλουμένης Ἰταλικῆς,

Phonetic (Greek): eysebes kai phoboymenos ton theon syn panti tῷ oikῳ aytoy, ⸀poion eleemosynas pollas tῷ laῷ kai deomenos toy theoy dia pantos,
Edified Edition (EDE)a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.

εὐσεβὴς καὶ φοβούμενος τὸν θεὸν σὺν παντὶ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ, ⸀ποιῶν ἐλεημοσύνας πολλὰς τῷ λαῷ καὶ δεόμενος τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ παντός,

Phonetic (Greek): eiden en horamati phaneros hosei ⸀peri horan enaten tes hemeras angelon toy theoy eiselthonta pros ayton kai eiponta aytῷ· Kornelie.
Edified Edition (EDE)About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, "Cornelius."

εἶδεν ἐν ὁράματι φανερῶς ὡσεὶ ⸀περὶ ὥραν ἐνάτην τῆς ἡμέρας ἄγγελον τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσελθόντα πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ εἰπόντα αὐτῷ· Κορνήλιε.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de atenisas aytῷ kai emphobos genomenos eipen· Ti estin, kyrie; eipen de aytῷ· Ahi proseuchai sou kai ahi eleemosynai sou anebesan eis mnemosynon ⸀emprosthen toy theoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

ὁ δὲ ἀτενίσας αὐτῷ καὶ ἔμφοβος γενόμενος εἶπεν· Τί ἐστιν, κύριε; εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ· Αἱ προσευχαί σου καὶ αἱ ἐλεημοσύναι σου ἀνέβησαν εἰς μνημόσυνον ⸀ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ θεοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): kai nyn pempson ⸂andras eis Ἰoppen⸃ kai metapempsai Simona ⸂tina hos epikaleitai Petros⸃·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.

καὶ νῦν πέμψον ⸂ἄνδρας εἰς Ἰόππην⸃ καὶ μετάπεμψαι Σίμωνά ⸂τινα ὃς ἐπικαλεῖται Πέτρος⸃·

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos xenizetai para tini Simoni byrsei, ho estin oikia para thalassan.
Edified Edition (EDE)He is staying with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do."

οὗτος ξενίζεται παρά τινι Σίμωνι βυρσεῖ, ᾧ ἐστιν οἰκία παρὰ θάλασσαν.

Phonetic (Greek): hos de apelthen ho angelos ho lalon ⸀aytῷ, phonesas dyo ton ⸀oiketon kai stratioten eysebe ton proskarteroynton aytῷ
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually.

ὡς δὲ ἀπῆλθεν ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ λαλῶν ⸀αὐτῷ, φωνήσας δύο τῶν ⸀οἰκετῶν καὶ στρατιώτην εὐσεβῆ τῶν προσκαρτερούντων αὐτῷ

Phonetic (Greek): kai exegesamenos ⸂hapanta aytois⸃ apesteilen aytoys eis ten Ἰoppen.
Edified Edition (EDE)So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa.

καὶ ἐξηγησάμενος ⸂ἅπαντα αὐτοῖς⸃ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν Ἰόππην.

Phonetic (Greek): Tῇ de epayrion hodoiporoynton ekeinon kai tῇ polei engizonton anebe Petros epi to doma proseyxasthai peri horan hekten.
Edified Edition (EDE)The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

Τῇ δὲ ἐπαύριον ὁδοιπορούντων ἐκείνων καὶ τῇ πόλει ἐγγιζόντων ἀνέβη Πέτρος ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα προσεύξασθαι περὶ ὥραν ἕκτην.

Phonetic (Greek): egeneto de prospeinos kai ethelen geysasthai· paraskeuazonton de ⸀ayton ⸀egeneto epʼ ayton ekstasis,
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance

ἐγένετο δὲ πρόσπεινος καὶ ἤθελεν γεύσασθαι· παρασκευαζόντων δὲ ⸀αὐτῶν ⸀ἐγένετο ἐπʼ αὐτὸν ἔκστασις,

Phonetic (Greek): kai theorei ton oyranon aneῳgmenon kai ⸀katabainon skeyos ti hos othonen megalen tessarsin ⸀archais kathiemenon epi tes ges,
Edified Edition (EDE)and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth.

καὶ θεωρεῖ τὸν οὐρανὸν ἀνεῳγμένον καὶ ⸀καταβαῖνον σκεῦός τι ὡς ὀθόνην μεγάλην τέσσαρσιν ⸀ἀρχαῖς καθιέμενον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς,

Phonetic (Greek): en ho hyperchen panta ta tetrapoda ⸂kai herpeta tes ges kai⸃ peteina toy oyranoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.

ἐν ᾧ ὑπῆρχεν πάντα τὰ τετράποδα ⸂καὶ ἑρπετὰ τῆς γῆς καὶ⸃ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai egeneto phone pros ayton· Ἀnastas, Petre, thyson kai phage.
Edified Edition (EDE)And a voice came to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat."

καὶ ἐγένετο φωνὴ πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἀναστάς, Πέτρε, θῦσον καὶ φάγε.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Petros eipen· Medamos, kyrie, hoti oydepote ephagon pan koinon ⸀kai akatharton.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean."

ὁ δὲ Πέτρος εἶπεν· Μηδαμῶς, κύριε, ὅτι οὐδέποτε ἔφαγον πᾶν κοινὸν ⸀καὶ ἀκάθαρτον.

Phonetic (Greek): kai phone palin ek deuterou pros ayton· Ἃ ho theos ekatharisen sy me koinou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And a voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed you must not call common."

καὶ φωνὴ πάλιν ἐκ δευτέρου πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἃ ὁ θεὸς ἐκαθάρισεν σὺ μὴ κοίνου.

Phonetic (Greek): toyto de egeneto epi tris, kai ⸀eythys anelemphthe to skeyos eis ton oyranon.
Edified Edition (EDE)This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τρίς, καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἀνελήμφθη τὸ σκεῦος εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὡs de en heautῷ dieporei ho Petros ti an eie to horama ho eiden, ⸀idoy ohi andres ohi apestalmenoi ⸀hypo toy Korneliou dierotesantes ten oikian ⸀toy Simonos epestesan epi ton pylona,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate.

Ὡς δὲ ἐν ἑαυτῷ διηπόρει ὁ Πέτρος τί ἂν εἴη τὸ ὅραμα ὃ εἶδεν, ⸀ἰδοὺ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ ἀπεσταλμένοι ⸀ὑπὸ τοῦ Κορνηλίου διερωτήσαντες τὴν οἰκίαν ⸀τοῦ Σίμωνος ἐπέστησαν ἐπὶ τὸν πυλῶνα,

Phonetic (Greek): kai phonesantes ⸀epynthanonto ei Simon ho epikaloymenos Petros enthade xenizetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they called and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was staying there.

καὶ φωνήσαντες ⸀ἐπυνθάνοντο εἰ Σίμων ὁ ἐπικαλούμενος Πέτρος ἐνθάδε ξενίζεται.

Phonetic (Greek): toy de Petrou dienthymoumenou peri toy horamatos eipen ⸂aytῷ to pneyma⸃· Ἰdoy ⸀andres ⸀zetoyntes se·
Edified Edition (EDE)While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are seeking you.

τοῦ δὲ Πέτρου διενθυμουμένου περὶ τοῦ ὁράματος εἶπεν ⸂αὐτῷ τὸ πνεῦμα⸃· Ἰδοὺ ⸀ἄνδρες ⸀ζητοῦντές σε·

Phonetic (Greek): alla anastas katabethi kai poreyou syn aytois meden diakrinomenos, ⸀hoti ego apestalka aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them."

ἀλλὰ ἀναστὰς κατάβηθι καὶ πορεύου σὺν αὐτοῖς μηδὲν διακρινόμενος, ⸀ὅτι ἐγὼ ἀπέσταλκα αὐτούς.

Phonetic (Greek): katabas de Petros pros toys andras eipen· Ἰdoy ego eimi hon zeteite· tis he aitia diʼ hen pareste;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius, and said, "Yes, I am he whom you seek. For what reason have you come?"

καταβὰς δὲ Πέτρος πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας εἶπεν· Ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι ὃν ζητεῖτε· τίς ἡ αἰτία διʼ ἣν πάρεστε;

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de eipan· Kornelios hekatontarches, aner dikaios kai phoboymenos ton theon martyroymenos te hypo holou toy ethnous ton Ἰoudaion, echrematisthe hypo angelou hagiou metapempsasthai se eis ton oikon aytoy kai akoysai ῥemata para soy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you."

οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Κορνήλιος ἑκατοντάρχης, ἀνὴρ δίκαιος καὶ φοβούμενος τὸν θεὸν μαρτυρούμενός τε ὑπὸ ὅλου τοῦ ἔθνους τῶν Ἰουδαίων, ἐχρηματίσθη ὑπὸ ἀγγέλου ἁγίου μεταπέμψασθαί σε εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκοῦσαι ῥήματα παρὰ σοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): eiskalesamenos oyn aytoys exenisen. Tῇ de epayrion ⸀anastas exelthen syn aytois, kai tines ton adelphon ton apo Ἰoppes synelthon aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brothers from Joppa accompanied him.

εἰσκαλεσάμενος οὖν αὐτοὺς ἐξένισεν. Τῇ δὲ ἐπαύριον ⸀ἀναστὰς ἐξῆλθεν σὺν αὐτοῖς, καί τινες τῶν ἀδελφῶν τῶν ἀπὸ Ἰόππης συνῆλθον αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂tῇ de⸃ epayrion ⸀eiselthen eis ten Kaisareian. ho de Kornelios en prosdokon aytoys synkalesamenos toys syngeneis aytoy kai toys anankaious philous.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the following day they entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them, and had called together his relatives and close friends.

⸂τῇ δὲ⸃ ἐπαύριον ⸀εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν Καισάρειαν. ὁ δὲ Κορνήλιος ἦν προσδοκῶν αὐτοὺς συγκαλεσάμενος τοὺς συγγενεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἀναγκαίους φίλους.

Phonetic (Greek): hos de egeneto toy eiselthein ton Petron, synantesas aytῷ ho Kornelios peson epi toys podas prosekynesen.
Edified Edition (EDE)As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him.

ὡς δὲ ἐγένετο τοῦ εἰσελθεῖν τὸν Πέτρον, συναντήσας αὐτῷ ὁ Κορνήλιος πεσὼν ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας προσεκύνησεν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Petros ⸂egeiren ayton⸃ legon· Ἀnastethi· kai ego aytos anthropos eimi.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Peter lifted him up, saying, "Stand up; I myself am also a man."

ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ⸂ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν⸃ λέγων· Ἀνάστηθι· καὶ ἐγὼ αὐτὸς ἄνθρωπός εἰμι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai synomilon aytῷ eiselthen, kai ehyriskei synelelythotas polloys,
Edified Edition (EDE)And as he talked with him, he went in and found many who had come together.

καὶ συνομιλῶν αὐτῷ εἰσῆλθεν, καὶ εὑρίσκει συνεληλυθότας πολλούς,

Phonetic (Greek): ephe te pros aytoys· Ὑmeis epistasthe hos athemiton estin andri Ἰoudaiῳ kollasthai e proserchesthai allophylῳ· kamoi ho theos edeixen medena koinon e akatharton legein anthropon·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he said to them, "You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

ἔφη τε πρὸς αὐτούς· Ὑμεῖς ἐπίστασθε ὡς ἀθέμιτόν ἐστιν ἀνδρὶ Ἰουδαίῳ κολλᾶσθαι ἢ προσέρχεσθαι ἀλλοφύλῳ· κἀμοὶ ὁ θεὸς ἔδειξεν μηδένα κοινὸν ἢ ἀκάθαρτον λέγειν ἄνθρωπον·

Phonetic (Greek): dio kai anantirretos elthon metapemphtheis. pynthanomai oyn tini logῳ metepempsasthe me.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. I ask, then, for what reason have you sent for me?"

διὸ καὶ ἀναντιρρήτως ἦλθον μεταπεμφθείς. πυνθάνομαι οὖν τίνι λόγῳ μετεπέμψασθέ με.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ho Kornelios ephe· Ἀpo tetartes hemeras mechri taytes tes horas ⸀emen ten ⸀enaten proseuchomenos en tῷ oikῳ mou, kai idoy aner este enopion mou en estheti lamprᾷ
Edified Edition (EDE)So Cornelius said, "Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

Καὶ ὁ Κορνήλιος ἔφη· Ἀπὸ τετάρτης ἡμέρας μέχρι ταύτης τῆς ὥρας ⸀ἤμην τὴν ⸀ἐνάτην προσευχόμενος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ἔστη ἐνώπιόν μου ἐν ἐσθῆτι λαμπρᾷ

Phonetic (Greek): kai phesi· Kornelie, eisekoysthe sou he proseuche kai ahi eleemosynai sou emnesthesan enopion toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.

καὶ φησί· Κορνήλιε, εἰσηκούσθη σου ἡ προσευχὴ καὶ αἱ ἐλεημοσύναι σου ἐμνήσθησαν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): pempson oyn eis Ἰoppen kai metakalesai Simona hos epikaleitai Petros· ohytos xenizetai en oikiᾳ Simonos byrseos para ⸀thalassan.
Edified Edition (EDE)Send therefore to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’

πέμψον οὖν εἰς Ἰόππην καὶ μετακάλεσαι Σίμωνα ὃς ἐπικαλεῖται Πέτρος· οὗτος ξενίζεται ἐν οἰκίᾳ Σίμωνος βυρσέως παρὰ ⸀θάλασσαν.

Phonetic (Greek): exautes oyn epempsa pros se, sy te kalos epoiesas paragenomenos. nyn oyn pantes hemeis enopion toy theoy paresmen akoysai panta ta prostetagmena soi hypo toy ⸀kyriou.
Edified Edition (EDE)Immediately therefore I sent to you, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God."

ἐξαυτῆς οὖν ἔπεμψα πρὸς σέ, σύ τε καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος. νῦν οὖν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦσαι πάντα τὰ προστεταγμένα σοι ὑπὸ τοῦ ⸀κυρίου.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀnoixas de Petros to stoma eipen· Ἐpʼ aletheias katalambanomai hoti oyk estin prosopolemptes ho theos,
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.

Ἀνοίξας δὲ Πέτρος τὸ στόμα εἶπεν· Ἐπʼ ἀληθείας καταλαμβάνομαι ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν προσωπολήμπτης ὁ θεός,

Phonetic (Greek): allʼ en panti ethnei ho phoboymenos ayton kai ergazomenos dikaiosynen dektos aytῷ estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.

ἀλλʼ ἐν παντὶ ἔθνει ὁ φοβούμενος αὐτὸν καὶ ἐργαζόμενος δικαιοσύνην δεκτὸς αὐτῷ ἐστιν.

Phonetic (Greek): ton logon ⸀hon apesteilen tois yhiois Ἰsrael eyangelizomenos eirenen dia Ἰesoy Christoy· ohytos estin panton kyrios.
Edified Edition (EDE)The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ, He is Lord of all,

τὸν λόγον ⸀ὃν ἀπέστειλεν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ εὐαγγελιζόμενος εἰρήνην διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ· οὗτός ἐστιν πάντων κύριος.

Phonetic (Greek): hymeis oidate to genomenon ῥema kathʼ holes tes Ἰoudaias, ⸀arxamenos apo tes Galilaias meta to baptisma ho ekeryxen Ἰoannes,
Edified Edition (EDE)that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:

ὑμεῖς οἴδατε τὸ γενόμενον ῥῆμα καθʼ ὅλης τῆς Ἰουδαίας, ⸀ἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας μετὰ τὸ βάπτισμα ὃ ἐκήρυξεν Ἰωάννης,

Phonetic (Greek): Ἰesoyn ton apo Nazareth, hos echrisen ayton ho theos pneymati hagiῳ kai dynamei, hos dielthen eyergeton kai iomenos pantas toys katadynasteuomenous hypo toy diabolou, hoti ho theos en metʼ aytoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Ἰησοῦν τὸν ἀπὸ Ναζαρέθ, ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτὸν ὁ θεὸς πνεύματι ἁγίῳ καὶ δυνάμει, ὃς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καὶ ἰώμενος πάντας τοὺς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου, ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ἦν μετʼ αὐτοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀hemeis martyres panton hon epoiesen en te tῇ chorᾳ ton Ἰoudaion ⸀kai Ἰerousalem· hon kai aneilan kremasantes epi xylou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.

καὶ ⸀ἡμεῖς μάρτυρες πάντων ὧν ἐποίησεν ἔν τε τῇ χώρᾳ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ⸀καὶ Ἰερουσαλήμ· ὃν καὶ ἀνεῖλαν κρεμάσαντες ἐπὶ ξύλου.

Phonetic (Greek): toyton ho theos egeiren ⸀tῇ tritῃ hemerᾳ kai edoken ayton emphane genesthai,
Edified Edition (EDE)Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,

τοῦτον ὁ θεὸς ἤγειρεν ⸀τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν ἐμφανῆ γενέσθαι,

Phonetic (Greek): oy panti tῷ laῷ alla martysi tois prokecheirotonemenois hypo toy theoy, hemin, ohitines synephagomen kai synepiomen aytῷ meta to anastenai ayton ek nekron·
Edified Edition (EDE)not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.

οὐ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ ἀλλὰ μάρτυσι τοῖς προκεχειροτονημένοις ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ, ἡμῖν, οἵτινες συνεφάγομεν καὶ συνεπίομεν αὐτῷ μετὰ τὸ ἀναστῆναι αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν·

Edified Edition (EDE)And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.

καὶ παρήγγειλεν ἡμῖν κηρύξαι τῷ λαῷ καὶ διαμαρτύρασθαι ὅτι ⸀οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ὡρισμένος ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ κριτὴς ζώντων καὶ νεκρῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins."

τούτῳ πάντες οἱ προφῆται μαρτυροῦσιν, ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν λαβεῖν διὰ τοῦ ὀνόματος αὐτοῦ πάντα τὸν πιστεύοντα εἰς αὐτόν.

Edified Edition (EDE)While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

Ἔτι λαλοῦντος τοῦ Πέτρου τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἐπέπεσε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντας τὸν λόγον.

Edified Edition (EDE)And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

Edified Edition (EDE)For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,

Edified Edition (EDE)"Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptised who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"

Μήτι τὸ ὕδωρ ⸂δύναται κωλῦσαί⸃ τις τοῦ μὴ βαπτισθῆναι τούτους οἵτινες τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον ἔλαβον ⸀ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς;

Edified Edition (EDE)And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

προσέταξεν ⸀δὲ αὐτοὺς ⸂ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ βαπτισθῆναι⸃. τότε ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν ἐπιμεῖναι ἡμέρας τινάς.
