Phonetic (Greek): Ἦsan ⸀de en Ἀntiocheiᾳ kata ten oysan ekklesian prophetai kai didaskaloi ho te Barnabas kai Symeon ho kaloymenos Niger, kai Loykios ho Kyrenaios, Manaen te Ἡrῴdou toy tetraarchou syntrophos kai Saylos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Ἦσαν ⸀δὲ ἐν Ἀντιοχείᾳ κατὰ τὴν οὖσαν ἐκκλησίαν προφῆται καὶ διδάσκαλοι ὅ τε Βαρναβᾶς καὶ Συμεὼν ὁ καλούμενος Νίγερ, καὶ Λούκιος ὁ Κυρηναῖος, Μαναήν τε Ἡρῴδου τοῦ τετραάρχου σύντροφος καὶ Σαῦλος.

Phonetic (Greek): leitourgoynton de ayton tῷ kyriῳ kai nesteuonton eipen to pneyma to hagion· Ἀphorisate de moi ton Barnaban ⸀kai Saylon eis to ergon ho proskeklemai aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

λειτουργούντων δὲ αὐτῶν τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ νηστευόντων εἶπεν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον· Ἀφορίσατε δή μοι τὸν Βαρναβᾶν ⸀καὶ Σαῦλον εἰς τὸ ἔργον ὃ προσκέκλημαι αὐτούς.

Phonetic (Greek): tote nesteysantes kai proseuxamenoi kai epithentes tas cheiras aytois apelysan.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

τότε νηστεύσαντες καὶ προσευξάμενοι καὶ ἐπιθέντες τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῖς ἀπέλυσαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Aytoi men oyn ekpemphthentes hypo toy ⸂hagiou pneymatos⸃ katelthon ⸀eis Seleykeian, ekeithen ⸀te apepleusan ⸁eis Kypron,
Edified Edition (EDE)So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

⸀Αὐτοὶ μὲν οὖν ἐκπεμφθέντες ὑπὸ τοῦ ⸂ἁγίου πνεύματος⸃ κατῆλθον ⸀εἰς Σελεύκειαν, ἐκεῖθέν ⸀τε ἀπέπλευσαν ⸁εἰς Κύπρον,

Phonetic (Greek): kai genomenoi en Salamini katengellon ton logon toy theoy en tais synagogais ton Ἰoudaion· eichon de kai Ἰoannen hypereten.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant.

καὶ γενόμενοι ἐν Σαλαμῖνι κατήγγελλον τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς τῶν Ἰουδαίων· εἶχον δὲ καὶ Ἰωάννην ὑπηρέτην.

Phonetic (Greek): dielthontes de ⸀holen ten neson achri Paphou ehyron ⸀andra tina magon pseudopropheten Ἰoudaion ho onoma ⸀Bariesoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus,

διελθόντες δὲ ⸀ὅλην τὴν νῆσον ἄχρι Πάφου εὗρον ⸀ἄνδρα τινὰ μάγον ψευδοπροφήτην Ἰουδαῖον ᾧ ὄνομα ⸀Βαριησοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): hos en syn tῷ anthypatῳ Sergiῳ Paylῳ, andri synetῷ. ohytos proskalesamenos Barnaban kai Saylon epezetesen akoysai ton logon toy theoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.

ὃς ἦν σὺν τῷ ἀνθυπάτῳ Σεργίῳ Παύλῳ, ἀνδρὶ συνετῷ. οὗτος προσκαλεσάμενος Βαρναβᾶν καὶ Σαῦλον ἐπεζήτησεν ἀκοῦσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): anthistato de aytois Ἐlymas ho magos, ohytos gar methermeneyetai to onoma aytoy, zeton diastrepsai ton anthypaton apo tes pisteos.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.

ἀνθίστατο δὲ αὐτοῖς Ἐλύμας ὁ μάγος, οὕτως γὰρ μεθερμηνεύεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, ζητῶν διαστρέψαι τὸν ἀνθύπατον ἀπὸ τῆς πίστεως.

Phonetic (Greek): Saylos de, ho kai Paylos, plestheis pneymatos ⸀hagiou atenisas eis ayton
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him

Σαῦλος δέ, ὁ καὶ Παῦλος, πλησθεὶς πνεύματος ⸀ἁγίου ἀτενίσας εἰς αὐτὸν

Phonetic (Greek): eipen· Ὦ pleres pantos dolou kai pases ῥᾳdiourgias, yhie diabolou, echthre pases dikaiosynes, oy paysῃ diastrephon tas ⸀hodoys kyriou tas eytheias;
Edified Edition (EDE)and said, "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

εἶπεν· Ὦ πλήρης παντὸς δόλου καὶ πάσης ῥᾳδιουργίας, υἱὲ διαβόλου, ἐχθρὲ πάσης δικαιοσύνης, οὐ παύσῃ διαστρέφων τὰς ⸀ὁδοὺς κυρίου τὰς εὐθείας;

Phonetic (Greek): kai nyn idoy cheir kyriou epi se, kai esῃ typhlos me blepon ton helion achri kairoy. parachrema ⸀de ⸀epesen epʼ ayton achlys kai skotos, kai periagon ezetei cheiragogoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)And now, look, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time." And immediately a dark mist and darkness fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ χεὶρ κυρίου ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ ἔσῃ τυφλὸς μὴ βλέπων τὸν ἥλιον ἄχρι καιροῦ. παραχρῆμα ⸀δὲ ⸀ἔπεσεν ἐπʼ αὐτὸν ἀχλὺς καὶ σκότος, καὶ περιάγων ἐζήτει χειραγωγούς.

Phonetic (Greek): tote idon ho anthypatos to gegonos episteusen ekplessomenos epi tῇ didachῇ toy kyriou.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

τότε ἰδὼν ὁ ἀνθύπατος τὸ γεγονὸς ἐπίστευσεν ἐκπλησσόμενος ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ τοῦ κυρίου.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀnachthentes de apo tes Paphou ohi ⸀peri Paylon elthon eis Pergen tes Pamphylias· Ἰoannes de apochoresas apʼ ayton hypestrepsen eis Ἱerosolyma.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when Paul and his party set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia; and John, departing from them, returned to Jerusalem.

Ἀναχθέντες δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς Πάφου οἱ ⸀περὶ Παῦλον ἦλθον εἰς Πέργην τῆς Παμφυλίας· Ἰωάννης δὲ ἀποχωρήσας ἀπʼ αὐτῶν ὑπέστρεψεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα.

Phonetic (Greek): aytoi de dielthontes apo tes Perges paregenonto eis Ἀntiocheian ⸂ten Pisidian⸃, kai ⸀eiselthontes eis ten synagogen tῇ hemerᾳ ton sabbaton ekathisan.
Edified Edition (EDE)But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down.

αὐτοὶ δὲ διελθόντες ἀπὸ τῆς Πέργης παρεγένοντο εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν ⸂τὴν Πισιδίαν⸃, καὶ ⸀εἰσελθόντες εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν σαββάτων ἐκάθισαν.

Phonetic (Greek): meta de ten anagnosin toy nomou kai ton propheton apesteilan ohi archisynagogoi pros aytoys legontes· Ἄndres adelphoi, ei ⸀tis estin ⸂en hymin logos⸃ parakleseos pros ton laon, legete.
Edified Edition (EDE)And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "Men and brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak up."

μετὰ δὲ τὴν ἀνάγνωσιν τοῦ νόμου καὶ τῶν προφητῶν ἀπέστειλαν οἱ ἀρχισυνάγωγοι πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγοντες· Ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί, εἴ ⸀τίς ἐστιν ⸂ἐν ὑμῖν λόγος⸃ παρακλήσεως πρὸς τὸν λαόν, λέγετε.

Phonetic (Greek): anastas de Paylos kai kataseisas tῇ cheiri eipen· Ἄndres Ἰsraelitai kai ohi phoboymenoi ton theon, akoysate.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen:

ἀναστὰς δὲ Παῦλος καὶ κατασείσας τῇ χειρὶ εἶπεν· Ἄνδρες Ἰσραηλῖται καὶ οἱ φοβούμενοι τὸν θεόν, ἀκούσατε.

Phonetic (Greek): ho theos toy laoy toytou ⸀Ἰsrael exelexato toys pateras hemon, kai ton laon hypsosen en tῇ paroikiᾳ en gῇ ⸀Aigyptou, kai meta brachionos hypseloy exegagen aytoys ex aytes,
Edified Edition (EDE)The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He brought them out of it.

ὁ θεὸς τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου ⸀Ἰσραὴλ ἐξελέξατο τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν, καὶ τὸν λαὸν ὕψωσεν ἐν τῇ παροικίᾳ ἐν γῇ ⸀Αἰγύπτου, καὶ μετὰ βραχίονος ὑψηλοῦ ἐξήγαγεν αὐτοὺς ἐξ αὐτῆς,

Edified Edition (EDE)Now for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness.

καί, ὡς τεσσερακονταετῆ χρόνον ἐτροποφόρησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ,

Edified Edition (EDE)And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land to them by allotment.

⸀καὶ καθελὼν ἔθνη ἑπτὰ ἐν γῇ Χανάαν ⸀κατεκληρονόμησεν τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂hos etesi tetrakosiois kai pentekonta. kai meta tayta⸃ edoken kritas heos Samouel ⸀toy prophetou.
Edified Edition (EDE)After that He gave them judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

⸂ὡς ἔτεσι τετρακοσίοις καὶ πεντήκοντα. καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα⸃ ἔδωκεν κριτὰς ἕως Σαμουὴλ ⸀τοῦ προφήτου.

Phonetic (Greek): kakeithen etesanto basilea, kai edoken aytois ho theos ton Saoyl yhion Kis, andra ek phyles Beniamin, ete tesserakonta·
Edified Edition (EDE)And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

κἀκεῖθεν ᾐτήσαντο βασιλέα, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ θεὸς τὸν Σαοὺλ υἱὸν Κίς, ἄνδρα ἐκ φυλῆς Βενιαμίν, ἔτη τεσσεράκοντα·

Phonetic (Greek): kai metastesas ayton egeiren ⸂ton Dauid aytois⸃ eis basilea, ho kai eipen martyresas· Ehyron Dauid ton toy Ἰessai, andra kata ten kardian mou, hos poiesei panta ta thelemata mou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

καὶ μεταστήσας αὐτὸν ἤγειρεν ⸂τὸν Δαυὶδ αὐτοῖς⸃ εἰς βασιλέα, ᾧ καὶ εἶπεν μαρτυρήσας· Εὗρον Δαυὶδ τὸν τοῦ Ἰεσσαί, ἄνδρα κατὰ τὴν καρδίαν μου, ὃς ποιήσει πάντα τὰ θελήματά μου.

Phonetic (Greek): toytou ho theos apo toy spermatos katʼ epangelian egagen tῷ Ἰsrael ⸂sotera Ἰesoyn⸃,
Edified Edition (EDE)From this man’s descendants, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Saviour, Jesus,

τούτου ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ τοῦ σπέρματος κατʼ ἐπαγγελίαν ἤγαγεν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ ⸂σωτῆρα Ἰησοῦν⸃,

Phonetic (Greek): prokeryxantos Ἰoannou pro prosopou tes eisodou aytoy baptisma metanoias ⸂panti tῷ laῷ⸃ Ἰsrael.
Edified Edition (EDE)after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

προκηρύξαντος Ἰωάννου πρὸ προσώπου τῆς εἰσόδου αὐτοῦ βάπτισμα μετανοίας ⸂παντὶ τῷ λαῷ⸃ Ἰσραήλ.

Phonetic (Greek): hos de eplerou ⸀Ἰoannes ton dromon, elegen· ⸂Ti eme⸃ hyponoeite einai; oyk eimi ego· allʼ idoy erchetai metʼ eme ohy oyk eimi axios to hypodema ton podon lysai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And as John was finishing his course, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.’

ὡς δὲ ἐπλήρου ⸀Ἰωάννης τὸν δρόμον, ἔλεγεν· ⸂Τί ἐμὲ⸃ ὑπονοεῖτε εἶναι; οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐγώ· ἀλλʼ ἰδοὺ ἔρχεται μετʼ ἐμὲ οὗ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἄξιος τὸ ὑπόδημα τῶν ποδῶν λῦσαι.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἄndres adelphoi, yhioi genous Ἀbraam kai ohi en hymin phoboymenoi ton theon, ⸀hemin ho logos tes soterias taytes ⸀exapestale.
Edified Edition (EDE)Men and brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent.

Ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί, υἱοὶ γένους Ἀβραὰμ καὶ οἱ ἐν ὑμῖν φοβούμενοι τὸν θεόν, ⸀ἡμῖν ὁ λόγος τῆς σωτηρίας ταύτης ⸀ἐξαπεστάλη.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi gar katoikoyntes en Ἰerousalem kai ohi archontes ayton toyton agnoesantes kai tas phonas ton propheton tas kata pan sabbaton anaginoskomenas krinantes eplerosan,
Edified Edition (EDE)For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled them in condemning Him.

οἱ γὰρ κατοικοῦντες ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες αὐτῶν τοῦτον ἀγνοήσαντες καὶ τὰς φωνὰς τῶν προφητῶν τὰς κατὰ πᾶν σάββατον ἀναγινωσκομένας κρίναντες ἐπλήρωσαν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai medemian aitian thanatou ehyrontes etesanto Pilaton anairethenai ayton·
Edified Edition (EDE)And though they found no cause for death in Him, they asked Pilate that He should be put to death.

καὶ μηδεμίαν αἰτίαν θανάτου εὑρόντες ᾐτήσαντο Πιλᾶτον ἀναιρεθῆναι αὐτόν·

Phonetic (Greek): hos de etelesan panta ta peri aytoy gegrammena, kathelontes apo toy xylou ethekan eis mnemeion.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb.

ὡς δὲ ἐτέλεσαν πάντα τὰ περὶ αὐτοῦ γεγραμμένα, καθελόντες ἀπὸ τοῦ ξύλου ἔθηκαν εἰς μνημεῖον.

Edified Edition (EDE)But God raised Him from the dead.

ὁ δὲ θεὸς ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): hos ophthe epi hemeras pleious tois synanabasin aytῷ apo tes Galilaias eis Ἰerousalem, ohitines ⸀nyn eisi martyres aytoy pros ton laon.
Edified Edition (EDE)He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people.

ὃς ὤφθη ἐπὶ ἡμέρας πλείους τοῖς συναναβᾶσιν αὐτῷ ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ, οἵτινες ⸀νῦν εἰσὶ μάρτυρες αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὸν λαόν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hemeis hymas eyangelizometha ten pros toys pateras epangelian genomenen
Edified Edition (EDE)And we declare to you glad tidings, that promise which was made to the fathers.

καὶ ἡμεῖς ὑμᾶς εὐαγγελιζόμεθα τὴν πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας ἐπαγγελίαν γενομένην

33
Phonetic (Greek): hoti tayten ho theos ekpepleroken tois teknois ⸀hemon anastesas Ἰesoyn, hos kai en tῷ ⸂psalmῷ gegraptai tῷ deuterῳ⸃· Yhios mou ei sy, ego semeron gegenneka se.
Edified Edition (EDE)God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’

ὅτι ταύτην ὁ θεὸς ἐκπεπλήρωκεν τοῖς τέκνοις ⸀ἡμῶν ἀναστήσας Ἰησοῦν, ὡς καὶ ἐν τῷ ⸂ψαλμῷ γέγραπται τῷ δευτέρῳ⸃· Υἱός μου εἶ σύ, ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σε.

Phonetic (Greek): hoti de anestesen ayton ek nekron meketi mellonta hypostrephein eis diaphthoran, ohytos eireken hoti Doso hymin ta hosia Dauid ta pista.
Edified Edition (EDE)And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’

ὅτι δὲ ἀνέστησεν αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν μηκέτι μέλλοντα ὑποστρέφειν εἰς διαφθοράν, οὕτως εἴρηκεν ὅτι Δώσω ὑμῖν τὰ ὅσια Δαυὶδ τὰ πιστά.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀dioti kai en heterῳ legei· Oy doseis ton hosion sou idein diaphthoran·
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore He also says in another Psalm: ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

⸀διότι καὶ ἐν ἑτέρῳ λέγει· Οὐ δώσεις τὸν ὅσιόν σου ἰδεῖν διαφθοράν·

Phonetic (Greek): Dauid men gar idiᾳ geneᾷ hyperetesas tῇ toy theoy boulῇ ekoimethe kai prosetethe pros toys pateras aytoy kai eiden diaphthoran,
Edified Edition (EDE)For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

Δαυὶδ μὲν γὰρ ἰδίᾳ γενεᾷ ὑπηρετήσας τῇ τοῦ θεοῦ βουλῇ ἐκοιμήθη καὶ προσετέθη πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶδεν διαφθοράν,

Phonetic (Greek): hon de ho theos egeiren oyk eiden diaphthoran.
Edified Edition (EDE)but He whom God raised up saw no corruption.

ὃν δὲ ὁ θεὸς ἤγειρεν οὐκ εἶδεν διαφθοράν.

Phonetic (Greek): gnoston oyn esto hymin, andres adelphoi, hoti dia toytou hymin aphesis hamartion katangelletai, kai apo panton hon oyk edynethete ⸀en nomῳ Moyseos dikaiothenai
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins;

γνωστὸν οὖν ἔστω ὑμῖν, ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί, ὅτι διὰ τούτου ὑμῖν ἄφεσις ἁμαρτιῶν καταγγέλλεται, καὶ ἀπὸ πάντων ὧν οὐκ ἠδυνήθητε ⸀ἐν νόμῳ Μωϋσέως δικαιωθῆναι

39
Phonetic (Greek): en toytῳ pas ho pisteyon dikaioytai.
Edified Edition (EDE)and by Him every one who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

ἐν τούτῳ πᾶς ὁ πιστεύων δικαιοῦται.

Phonetic (Greek): blepete oyn me ⸀epelthῃ to eiremenon en tois prophetais·
Edified Edition (EDE)Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets comes upon you:

βλέπετε οὖν μὴ ⸀ἐπέλθῃ τὸ εἰρημένον ἐν τοῖς προφήταις·
