Phonetic (Greek): Ἐgeneto de en Ἰkoniῳ kata to ayto eiselthein aytoys eis ten synagogen ton Ἰoudaion kai lalesai ohytos hoste pisteysai Ἰoudaion te kai Ἑllenon poly plethos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed.

Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν Ἰκονίῳ κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν τῶν Ἰουδαίων καὶ λαλῆσαι οὕτως ὥστε πιστεῦσαι Ἰουδαίων τε καὶ Ἑλλήνων πολὺ πλῆθος.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de ⸀apeithesantes Ἰoudaioi epegeiran kai ekakosan tas psychas ton ethnon kata ton adelphon.
Edified Edition (EDE)But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.

οἱ δὲ ⸀ἀπειθήσαντες Ἰουδαῖοι ἐπήγειραν καὶ ἐκάκωσαν τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν ἐθνῶν κατὰ τῶν ἀδελφῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): hikanon men oyn chronon dietripsan parresiazomenoi epi tῷ kyriῳ tῷ martyroynti ⸀tῷ logῳ tes charitos aytoy, didonti semeia kai terata ginesthai dia ton cheiron ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

ἱκανὸν μὲν οὖν χρόνον διέτριψαν παρρησιαζόμενοι ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ τῷ μαρτυροῦντι ⸀τῷ λόγῳ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ, διδόντι σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα γίνεσθαι διὰ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): eschisthe de to plethos tes poleos, kai ohi men esan syn tois Ἰoudaiois ohi de syn tois apostolois.
Edified Edition (EDE)But the multitude of the city was divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

ἐσχίσθη δὲ τὸ πλῆθος τῆς πόλεως, καὶ οἱ μὲν ἦσαν σὺν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις οἱ δὲ σὺν τοῖς ἀποστόλοις.

Phonetic (Greek): hos de egeneto horme ton ethnon te kai Ἰoudaion syn tois archousin ayton hybrisai kai lithobolesai aytoys,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when a violent attempt was made by both the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to abuse and stone them,

ὡς δὲ ἐγένετο ὁρμὴ τῶν ἐθνῶν τε καὶ Ἰουδαίων σὺν τοῖς ἄρχουσιν αὐτῶν ὑβρίσαι καὶ λιθοβολῆσαι αὐτούς,

Phonetic (Greek): synidontes katephygon eis tas poleis tes Lykaonias Lystran kai Derben kai ten perichoron,
Edified Edition (EDE)they became aware of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region.

συνιδόντες κατέφυγον εἰς τὰς πόλεις τῆς Λυκαονίας Λύστραν καὶ Δέρβην καὶ τὴν περίχωρον,

Phonetic (Greek): kakei ⸂eyangelizomenoi esan⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they were preaching the gospel there.

κἀκεῖ ⸂εὐαγγελιζόμενοι ἦσαν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai tis aner ⸂adynatos en Lystrois⸃ tois posin ekatheto, cholos ek koilias metros ⸀aytoy, hos oydepote ⸀periepatesen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.

Καί τις ἀνὴρ ⸂ἀδύνατος ἐν Λύστροις⸃ τοῖς ποσὶν ἐκάθητο, χωλὸς ἐκ κοιλίας μητρὸς ⸀αὐτοῦ, ὃς οὐδέποτε ⸀περιεπάτησεν.

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos ⸀ekousen toy Paylou laloyntos· hos atenisas aytῷ kai idon hoti ⸂echei pistin⸃ toy sothenai
Edified Edition (EDE)This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

οὗτος ⸀ἤκουσεν τοῦ Παύλου λαλοῦντος· ὃς ἀτενίσας αὐτῷ καὶ ἰδὼν ὅτι ⸂ἔχει πίστιν⸃ τοῦ σωθῆναι

Phonetic (Greek): eipen ⸀megalῃ phonῇ· Ἀnastethi epi toys podas sou ⸀orthos· kai ⸀helato kai periepatei.
Edified Edition (EDE)said with a loud voice, "Stand up straight on your feet!" And he leaped and walked.

εἶπεν ⸀μεγάλῃ φωνῇ· Ἀνάστηθι ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας σου ⸀ὀρθός· καὶ ⸀ἥλατο καὶ περιεπάτει.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi ⸀te ochloi idontes ho ⸀epoiesen Paylos eperan ten phonen ayton Lykaonisti legontes· Ohi theoi homoiothentes anthropois katebesan pros hemas
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!"

οἵ ⸀τε ὄχλοι ἰδόντες ὃ ⸀ἐποίησεν Παῦλος ἐπῆραν τὴν φωνὴν αὐτῶν Λυκαονιστὶ λέγοντες· Οἱ θεοὶ ὁμοιωθέντες ἀνθρώποις κατέβησαν πρὸς ἡμᾶς

Phonetic (Greek): ekaloun te ⸀ton Barnaban Dia, ton de Paylon Ἑrmen, epeide aytos en ho hegoymenos toy logou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

ἐκάλουν τε ⸀τὸν Βαρναβᾶν Δία, τὸν δὲ Παῦλον Ἑρμῆν, ἐπειδὴ αὐτὸς ἦν ὁ ἡγούμενος τοῦ λόγου.

Phonetic (Greek): ho ⸀te hiereys toy Dios toy ontos pro tes ⸀poleos tayrous kai stemmata epi toys pylonas enenkas syn tois ochlois ethelen thyein.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the multitudes.

ὅ ⸀τε ἱερεὺς τοῦ Διὸς τοῦ ὄντος πρὸ τῆς ⸀πόλεως ταύρους καὶ στέμματα ἐπὶ τοὺς πυλῶνας ἐνέγκας σὺν τοῖς ὄχλοις ἤθελεν θύειν.

Phonetic (Greek): akoysantes de ohi apostoloi Barnabas kai Paylos, diarrexantes ta himatia ⸀ayton ⸀exepedesan eis ton ochlon krazontes
Edified Edition (EDE)But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out

ἀκούσαντες δὲ οἱ ἀπόστολοι Βαρναβᾶς καὶ Παῦλος, διαρρήξαντες τὰ ἱμάτια ⸀αὐτῶν ⸀ἐξεπήδησαν εἰς τὸν ὄχλον κράζοντες

Phonetic (Greek): kai legontes· Ἄndres, ti tayta poieite; kai hemeis homoiopatheis esmen hymin anthropoi, eyangelizomenoi hymas apo toyton ton mataion epistrephein epi ⸀theon zonta hos epoiesen ton oyranon kai ten gen kai ten thalassan kai panta ta en aytois·
Edified Edition (EDE)and saying, "Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,

καὶ λέγοντες· Ἄνδρες, τί ταῦτα ποιεῖτε; καὶ ἡμεῖς ὁμοιοπαθεῖς ἐσμεν ὑμῖν ἄνθρωποι, εὐαγγελιζόμενοι ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τούτων τῶν ματαίων ἐπιστρέφειν ἐπὶ ⸀θεὸν ζῶντα ὃς ἐποίησεν τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐτοῖς·

Phonetic (Greek): hos en tais parῳchemenais geneais eiasen panta ta ethne poreyesthai tais hodois ayton·
Edified Edition (EDE)who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

ὃς ἐν ταῖς παρῳχημέναις γενεαῖς εἴασεν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη πορεύεσθαι ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀kaitoi oyk amartyron ⸀ahyton apheken ⸀agathourgon, oyranothen hymin hyetoys didoys kai kairoys karpophorous, empiplon trophes kai eyphrosynes tas kardias ⸀hymon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

⸀καίτοι οὐκ ἀμάρτυρον ⸀αὑτὸν ἀφῆκεν ⸀ἀγαθουργῶν, οὐρανόθεν ὑμῖν ὑετοὺς διδοὺς καὶ καιροὺς καρποφόρους, ἐμπιπλῶν τροφῆς καὶ εὐφροσύνης τὰς καρδίας ⸀ὑμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai tayta legontes molis katepausan toys ochlous toy me thyein aytois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.

καὶ ταῦτα λέγοντες μόλις κατέπαυσαν τοὺς ὄχλους τοῦ μὴ θύειν αὐτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐpelthan de apo Ἀntiocheias kai Ἰkoniou Ἰoudaioi, kai peisantes toys ochlous kai lithasantes ton Paylon esyron exo tes poleos, ⸀nomizontes ayton tethnekenai.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

Ἐπῆλθαν δὲ ἀπὸ Ἀντιοχείας καὶ Ἰκονίου Ἰουδαῖοι, καὶ πείσαντες τοὺς ὄχλους καὶ λιθάσαντες τὸν Παῦλον ἔσυρον ἔξω τῆς πόλεως, ⸀νομίζοντες αὐτὸν τεθνηκέναι.

Phonetic (Greek): kyklosanton de ⸂ton matheton ayton⸃ anastas eiselthen eis ten polin. kai tῇ epayrion exelthen syn tῷ Barnabᾷ eis Derben.
Edified Edition (EDE)However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and entered the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

κυκλωσάντων δὲ ⸂τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτὸν⸃ ἀναστὰς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν. καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξῆλθεν σὺν τῷ Βαρναβᾷ εἰς Δέρβην.

Phonetic (Greek): Eyangelisamenoi te ten polin ekeinen kai matheteysantes hikanoys hypestrepsan eis ten Lystran kai ⸀eis Ἰkonion kai ⸁eis Ἀntiocheian,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

Εὐαγγελισάμενοί τε τὴν πόλιν ἐκείνην καὶ μαθητεύσαντες ἱκανοὺς ὑπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν Λύστραν καὶ ⸀εἰς Ἰκόνιον καὶ ⸁εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν,

Phonetic (Greek): episterizontes tas psychas ton matheton, parakaloyntes emmenein tῇ pistei kai hoti dia pollon thlipseon dei hemas eiselthein eis ten basileian toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."

ἐπιστηρίζοντες τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν μαθητῶν, παρακαλοῦντες ἐμμένειν τῇ πίστει καὶ ὅτι διὰ πολλῶν θλίψεων δεῖ ἡμᾶς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): cheirotonesantes de aytois ⸂katʼ ekklesian presbyterous⸃ proseuxamenoi meta nesteion parethento aytoys tῷ kyriῳ eis hon pepisteykeisan.
Edified Edition (EDE)So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

χειροτονήσαντες δὲ αὐτοῖς ⸂κατʼ ἐκκλησίαν πρεσβυτέρους⸃ προσευξάμενοι μετὰ νηστειῶν παρέθεντο αὐτοὺς τῷ κυρίῳ εἰς ὃν πεπιστεύκεισαν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai dielthontes ten Pisidian elthon eis ⸀ten Pamphylian,
Edified Edition (EDE)And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

καὶ διελθόντες τὴν Πισιδίαν ἦλθον εἰς ⸀τὴν Παμφυλίαν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai lalesantes en Pergῃ ton logon katebesan eis Ἀttaleian,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

καὶ λαλήσαντες ἐν Πέργῃ τὸν λόγον κατέβησαν εἰς Ἀττάλειαν,

Phonetic (Greek): kakeithen apepleusan eis Ἀntiocheian, hothen esan paradedomenoi tῇ chariti toy theoy eis to ergon ho eplerosan.
Edified Edition (EDE)From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.

κἀκεῖθεν ἀπέπλευσαν εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν, ὅθεν ἦσαν παραδεδομένοι τῇ χάριτι τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς τὸ ἔργον ὃ ἐπλήρωσαν.

Phonetic (Greek): paragenomenoi de kai synagagontes ten ekklesian ⸀anengellon hosa epoiesen ho theos metʼ ayton kai hoti enoixen tois ethnesin thyran pisteos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

παραγενόμενοι δὲ καὶ συναγαγόντες τὴν ἐκκλησίαν ⸀ἀνήγγελλον ὅσα ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς μετʼ αὐτῶν καὶ ὅτι ἤνοιξεν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν θύραν πίστεως.

Edified Edition (EDE)So they stayed there a long time with the disciples.

διέτριβον ⸀δὲ χρόνον οὐκ ὀλίγον σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς.
