Edified Edition (EDE)After these things Paul departed from Athens and went to Corinth.

⸀Μετὰ ταῦτα ⸀χωρισθεὶς ἐκ τῶν Ἀθηνῶν ἦλθεν εἰς Κόρινθον.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ehyron tina Ἰoudaion onomati Ἀkylan, Pontikon tῷ genei, prosphatos elelythota apo tes Ἰtalias kai Priskillan gynaika aytoy dia to ⸀diatetachenai Klaydion chorizesthai pantas toys Ἰoudaious ⸀apo tes Ῥomes, proselthen aytois,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla (because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome); and he came to them.

καὶ εὑρών τινα Ἰουδαῖον ὀνόματι Ἀκύλαν, Ποντικὸν τῷ γένει, προσφάτως ἐληλυθότα ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰταλίας καὶ Πρίσκιλλαν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ διὰ τὸ ⸀διατεταχέναι Κλαύδιον χωρίζεσθαι πάντας τοὺς Ἰουδαίους ⸀ἀπὸ τῆς Ῥώμης, προσῆλθεν αὐτοῖς,

Phonetic (Greek): kai dia to homotechnon einai emenen parʼ aytois kai ⸀ergazeto, esan gar skenopoioi ⸂tῇ technῃ⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers.

καὶ διὰ τὸ ὁμότεχνον εἶναι ἔμενεν παρʼ αὐτοῖς καὶ ⸀ἠργάζετο, ἦσαν γὰρ σκηνοποιοὶ ⸂τῇ τέχνῃ⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): dielegeto de en tῇ synagogῇ kata pan sabbaton, epeithen te Ἰoudaious kai Ἕllenas.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.

διελέγετο δὲ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ κατὰ πᾶν σάββατον, ἔπειθέν τε Ἰουδαίους καὶ Ἕλληνας.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὡs de katelthon apo tes Makedonias ho te Silas kai ho Timotheos, syneicheto tῷ ⸀logῳ ho Paylos, diamartyromenos tois Ἰoudaiois ⸀einai ton christon Ἰesoyn.
Edified Edition (EDE)When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.

Ὡς δὲ κατῆλθον ἀπὸ τῆς Μακεδονίας ὅ τε Σιλᾶς καὶ ὁ Τιμόθεος, συνείχετο τῷ ⸀λόγῳ ὁ Παῦλος, διαμαρτυρόμενος τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ⸀εἶναι τὸν χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν.

Phonetic (Greek): antitassomenon de ayton kai blasphemoynton ektinaxamenos ta himatia eipen pros aytoys· To ahima hymon epi ten kephalen hymon· katharos ego· apo toy nyn eis ta ethne poreysomai.
Edified Edition (EDE)But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his clothes and said to them, "Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

ἀντιτασσομένων δὲ αὐτῶν καὶ βλασφημούντων ἐκτιναξάμενος τὰ ἱμάτια εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Τὸ αἷμα ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν ὑμῶν· καθαρὸς ἐγώ· ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν εἰς τὰ ἔθνη πορεύσομαι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai metabas ekeithen ⸀eiselthen eis oikian tinos onomati ⸀Titiou Ἰoystou sebomenou ton theon, ohy he oikia en synomoroysa tῇ synagogῇ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshipped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ⸀εἰσῆλθεν εἰς οἰκίαν τινὸς ὀνόματι ⸀Τιτίου Ἰούστου σεβομένου τὸν θεόν, οὗ ἡ οἰκία ἦν συνομοροῦσα τῇ συναγωγῇ.

Phonetic (Greek): Krispos de ho archisynagogos episteusen tῷ kyriῳ syn holῳ tῷ oikῳ aytoy, kai polloi ton Korinthion akoyontes episteuon kai ebaptizonto.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptised.

Κρίσπος δὲ ὁ ἀρχισυνάγωγος ἐπίστευσεν τῷ κυρίῳ σὺν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ πολλοὶ τῶν Κορινθίων ἀκούοντες ἐπίστευον καὶ ἐβαπτίζοντο.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de ho kyrios ⸂en nykti diʼ horamatos⸃ tῷ Paylῳ· Me phoboy, alla lalei kai me siopesῃs,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent;

εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος ⸂ἐν νυκτὶ διʼ ὁράματος⸃ τῷ Παύλῳ· Μὴ φοβοῦ, ἀλλὰ λάλει καὶ μὴ σιωπήσῃς,

Phonetic (Greek): dioti ego eimi meta soy kai oydeis epithesetai soi toy kakosai se, dioti laos esti moi polys en tῇ polei taytῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city."

διότι ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σοῦ καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιθήσεταί σοι τοῦ κακῶσαί σε, διότι λαός ἐστί μοι πολὺς ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): ekathisen ⸀de eniauton kai menas hex didaskon en aytois ton logon toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

ἐκάθισεν ⸀δὲ ἐνιαυτὸν καὶ μῆνας ἓξ διδάσκων ἐν αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Gallionos de ⸂anthypatou ontos⸃ tes Ἀchaias katepestesan ⸂homothymadon ohi Ἰoudaioi⸃ tῷ Paylῳ kai egagon ayton epi to bema,
Edified Edition (EDE)When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgement seat,

Γαλλίωνος δὲ ⸂ἀνθυπάτου ὄντος⸃ τῆς Ἀχαΐας κατεπέστησαν ⸂ὁμοθυμαδὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι⸃ τῷ Παύλῳ καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ βῆμα,

Phonetic (Greek): legontes hoti Para ton nomon ⸂anapeithei ohytos⸃ toys anthropous sebesthai ton theon.
Edified Edition (EDE)saying, "This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law."

λέγοντες ὅτι Παρὰ τὸν νόμον ⸂ἀναπείθει οὗτος⸃ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους σέβεσθαι τὸν θεόν.

Phonetic (Greek): mellontos de toy Paylou anoigein to stoma eipen ho Gallion pros toys Ἰoudaious· Ei ⸀men en adikema ti e ῥᾳdioyrgema poneron, o Ἰoudaioi, kata logon an aneschomen hymon·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you.

μέλλοντος δὲ τοῦ Παύλου ἀνοίγειν τὸ στόμα εἶπεν ὁ Γαλλίων πρὸς τοὺς Ἰουδαίους· Εἰ ⸀μὲν ἦν ἀδίκημά τι ἢ ῥᾳδιούργημα πονηρόν, ὦ Ἰουδαῖοι, κατὰ λόγον ἂν ἀνεσχόμην ὑμῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): ei de ⸀zetemata estin peri logou kai onomaton kai nomou toy kathʼ hymas, opsesthe aytoi· ⸀krites ego toyton oy boylomai einai.
Edified Edition (EDE)But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters."

εἰ δὲ ⸀ζητήματά ἐστιν περὶ λόγου καὶ ὀνομάτων καὶ νόμου τοῦ καθʼ ὑμᾶς, ὄψεσθε αὐτοί· ⸀κριτὴς ἐγὼ τούτων οὐ βούλομαι εἶναι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apelasen aytoys apo toy bematos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he drove them from the judgement seat.

καὶ ἀπήλασεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ βήματος.

Phonetic (Greek): epilabomenoi de ⸀pantes Sosthenen ton archisynagogon etypton emprosthen toy bematos· kai oyden toyton tῷ Gallioni ⸀emelen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgement seat. But Gallio took no notice of these things.

ἐπιλαβόμενοι δὲ ⸀πάντες Σωσθένην τὸν ἀρχισυνάγωγον ἔτυπτον ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ βήματος· καὶ οὐδὲν τούτων τῷ Γαλλίωνι ⸀ἔμελεν.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ de Paylos eti prosmeinas hemeras hikanas tois adelphois apotaxamenos exeplei eis ten Syrian, kai syn aytῷ Priskilla kai Ἀkylas, keiramenos ⸂en Kenchreais ten kephalen⸃, eichen gar eychen.
Edified Edition (EDE)So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brothers and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

Ὁ δὲ Παῦλος ἔτι προσμείνας ἡμέρας ἱκανὰς τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ἀποταξάμενος ἐξέπλει εἰς τὴν Συρίαν, καὶ σὺν αὐτῷ Πρίσκιλλα καὶ Ἀκύλας, κειράμενος ⸂ἐν Κεγχρεαῖς τὴν κεφαλήν⸃, εἶχεν γὰρ εὐχήν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀katentesan de eis Ἔpheson, kakeinous katelipen aytoy, aytos de eiselthon eis ten synagogen ⸀dielexato tois Ἰoudaiois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

⸀κατήντησαν δὲ εἰς Ἔφεσον, κἀκείνους κατέλιπεν αὐτοῦ, αὐτὸς δὲ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν ⸀διελέξατο τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις.

Phonetic (Greek): erotonton de ayton epi pleiona chronon ⸀meinai oyk epeneusen,
Edified Edition (EDE)When they asked him to stay a longer time with them, he did not consent,

ἐρωτώντων δὲ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ πλείονα χρόνον ⸀μεῖναι οὐκ ἐπένευσεν,

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂alla apotaxamenos kai⸃ ⸀eipon· ⸀Palin anakampso pros hymas toy theoy thelontos anechthe apo tes Ἐphesou,
Edified Edition (EDE)but took leave of them, saying, "I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, God willing." And he sailed from Ephesus.

⸂ἀλλὰ ἀποταξάμενος καὶ⸃ ⸀εἰπών· ⸀Πάλιν ἀνακάμψω πρὸς ὑμᾶς τοῦ θεοῦ θέλοντος ἀνήχθη ἀπὸ τῆς Ἐφέσου,

Phonetic (Greek): kai katelthon eis Kaisareian, anabas kai aspasamenos ten ekklesian, katebe eis Ἀntiocheian,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up and greeted the church, he went down to Antioch.

καὶ κατελθὼν εἰς Καισάρειαν, ἀναβὰς καὶ ἀσπασάμενος τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, κατέβη εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai poiesas chronon tina exelthen, dierchomenos kathexes ten Galatiken choran kai Phrygian, ⸀sterizon pantas toys mathetas.
Edified Edition (EDE)After he had spent some time there, he departed and went over the region of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

καὶ ποιήσας χρόνον τινὰ ἐξῆλθεν, διερχόμενος καθεξῆς τὴν Γαλατικὴν χώραν καὶ Φρυγίαν, ⸀στηρίζων πάντας τοὺς μαθητάς.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἰoudaios de tis Ἀpollos onomati, Ἀlexandreys tῷ genei, aner logios, katentesen eis Ἔpheson, dynatos on en tais graphais.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

Ἰουδαῖος δέ τις Ἀπολλῶς ὀνόματι, Ἀλεξανδρεὺς τῷ γένει, ἀνὴρ λόγιος, κατήντησεν εἰς Ἔφεσον, δυνατὸς ὢν ἐν ταῖς γραφαῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos en katechemenos ten hodon toy kyriou, kai zeon tῷ pneymati elalei kai edidasken akribos ta peri toy ⸀Ἰesoy, epistamenos monon to baptisma Ἰoannou.
Edified Edition (EDE)This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, although he knew only the baptism of John.

οὗτος ἦν κατηχημένος τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ ζέων τῷ πνεύματι ἐλάλει καὶ ἐδίδασκεν ἀκριβῶς τὰ περὶ τοῦ ⸀Ἰησοῦ, ἐπιστάμενος μόνον τὸ βάπτισμα Ἰωάννου.

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos te erxato parresiazesthai en tῇ synagogῇ· akoysantes de aytoy ⸂Priskilla kai Ἀkylas⸃ proselabonto ayton kai akribesteron aytῷ exethento ten ⸂hodon toy theoy⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

οὗτός τε ἤρξατο παρρησιάζεσθαι ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ· ἀκούσαντες δὲ αὐτοῦ ⸂Πρίσκιλλα καὶ Ἀκύλας⸃ προσελάβοντο αὐτὸν καὶ ἀκριβέστερον αὐτῷ ἐξέθεντο τὴν ⸂ὁδὸν τοῦ θεοῦ⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): boulomenou de aytoy dielthein eis ten Ἀchaian protrepsamenoi ohi adelphoi egrapsan tois mathetais apodexasthai ayton· hos paragenomenos synebaleto poly tois pepisteukosin dia tes charitos·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he desired to go to Achaia, the brothers wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

βουλομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ διελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Ἀχαΐαν προτρεψάμενοι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ἔγραψαν τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἀποδέξασθαι αὐτόν· ὃς παραγενόμενος συνεβάλετο πολὺ τοῖς πεπιστευκόσιν διὰ τῆς χάριτος·

Phonetic (Greek): eytonos gar tois Ἰoudaiois diakatelencheto demosiᾳ epideiknys dia ton graphon einai ton christon Ἰesoyn.
Edified Edition (EDE)for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

εὐτόνως γὰρ τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις διακατηλέγχετο δημοσίᾳ ἐπιδεικνὺς διὰ τῶν γραφῶν εἶναι τὸν χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν.
