Edified Edition (EDE)Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,

Λαλούντων δὲ αὐτῶν πρὸς τὸν λαὸν ἐπέστησαν αὐτοῖς οἱ ⸀ἱερεῖς καὶ ὁ στρατηγὸς τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ οἱ Σαδδουκαῖοι,

Phonetic (Greek): diaponoymenoi dia to didaskein aytoys ton laon kai katangellein en tῷ Ἰesoy ten anastasin ⸂ten ek⸃ nekron,
Edified Edition (EDE)being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

διαπονούμενοι διὰ τὸ διδάσκειν αὐτοὺς τὸν λαὸν καὶ καταγγέλλειν ἐν τῷ Ἰησοῦ τὴν ἀνάστασιν ⸂τὴν ἐκ⸃ νεκρῶν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai epebalon aytois tas cheiras kai ethento eis teresin eis ten ayrion, en gar hespera ede.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they laid hands on them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.

καὶ ἐπέβαλον αὐτοῖς τὰς χεῖρας καὶ ἔθεντο εἰς τήρησιν εἰς τὴν αὔριον, ἦν γὰρ ἑσπέρα ἤδη.

Phonetic (Greek): polloi de ton akousanton ton logon episteusan, kai egenethe ⸀ho arithmos ton andron ⸀hos chiliades pente.
Edified Edition (EDE)However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

πολλοὶ δὲ τῶν ἀκουσάντων τὸν λόγον ἐπίστευσαν, καὶ ἐγενήθη ⸀ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν ἀνδρῶν ⸀ὡς χιλιάδες πέντε.

Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes,

Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐπὶ τὴν αὔριον συναχθῆναι αὐτῶν τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ ⸀τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους καὶ ⸁τοὺς γραμματεῖς ⸀ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ

Phonetic (Greek): (kai ⸂Ἅnnas ho archiereys kai Kaiaphas kai Ἰoannes kai Ἀlexandros⸃ kai hosoi esan ek genous archieratikoy),
Edified Edition (EDE)as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

(καὶ ⸂Ἅννας ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς καὶ Καϊάφας καὶ Ἰωάννης καὶ Ἀλέξανδρος⸃ καὶ ὅσοι ἦσαν ἐκ γένους ἀρχιερατικοῦ),

Phonetic (Greek): kai stesantes aytoys en ⸀tῷ mesῳ epynthanonto· Ἐn poiᾳ dynamei e en poiῳ onomati epoiesate toyto hymeis;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what power or by what name have you done this?"

καὶ στήσαντες αὐτοὺς ἐν ⸀τῷ μέσῳ ἐπυνθάνοντο· Ἐν ποίᾳ δυνάμει ἢ ἐν ποίῳ ὀνόματι ἐποιήσατε τοῦτο ὑμεῖς;

Phonetic (Greek): tote Petros plestheis pneymatos hagiou eipen pros aytoys· Ἄrchontes toy laoy kai ⸀presbyteroi,
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:

τότε Πέτρος πλησθεὶς πνεύματος ἁγίου εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Ἄρχοντες τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ⸀πρεσβύτεροι,

Phonetic (Greek): ei hemeis semeron anakrinometha epi eyergesiᾳ anthropou asthenoys, en tini ohytos sesostai,
Edified Edition (EDE)If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,

εἰ ἡμεῖς σήμερον ἀνακρινόμεθα ἐπὶ εὐεργεσίᾳ ἀνθρώπου ἀσθενοῦς, ἐν τίνι οὗτος σέσωσται,

Phonetic (Greek): gnoston esto pasin hymin kai panti tῷ laῷ Ἰsrael hoti en tῷ onomati Ἰesoy Christoy toy Nazoraiou, hon hymeis estaurosate, hon ho theos egeiren ek nekron, en toytῳ ohytos paresteken enopion hymon hygies.
Edified Edition (EDE)let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

γνωστὸν ἔστω πᾶσιν ὑμῖν καὶ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ Ἰσραὴλ ὅτι ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τοῦ Ναζωραίου, ὃν ὑμεῖς ἐσταυρώσατε, ὃν ὁ θεὸς ἤγειρεν ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἐν τούτῳ οὗτος παρέστηκεν ἐνώπιον ὑμῶν ὑγιής.

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos estin ho lithos ho exouthenetheis hyphʼ hymon ton ⸀oikodomon, ho genomenos eis kephalen gonias.
Edified Edition (EDE)This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’

οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ λίθος ὁ ἐξουθενηθεὶς ὑφʼ ὑμῶν τῶν ⸀οἰκοδόμων, ὁ γενόμενος εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας.

Phonetic (Greek): kai oyk estin en allῳ oydeni he soteria, ⸀oyde gar onoma estin heteron ⸂hypo ton oyranon⸃ to dedomenon en anthropois en ho dei sothenai hemas.
Edified Edition (EDE)Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν ἄλλῳ οὐδενὶ ἡ σωτηρία, ⸀οὐδὲ γὰρ ὄνομά ἐστιν ἕτερον ⸂ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανὸν⸃ τὸ δεδομένον ἐν ἀνθρώποις ἐν ᾧ δεῖ σωθῆναι ἡμᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): Theoroyntes de ten toy Petrou parresian kai Ἰoannou kai katalabomenoi hoti anthropoi agrammatoi eisin kai idiotai, ethaymazon, epeginoskon te aytoys hoti syn tῷ Ἰesoy esan,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled. And they realised that they had been with Jesus.

Θεωροῦντες δὲ τὴν τοῦ Πέτρου παρρησίαν καὶ Ἰωάννου καὶ καταλαβόμενοι ὅτι ἄνθρωποι ἀγράμματοί εἰσιν καὶ ἰδιῶται, ἐθαύμαζον, ἐπεγίνωσκόν τε αὐτοὺς ὅτι σὺν τῷ Ἰησοῦ ἦσαν,

Phonetic (Greek): ton ⸀te anthropon blepontes syn aytois hestota ton tetherapeumenon oyden eichon anteipein.
Edified Edition (EDE)And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

τόν ⸀τε ἄνθρωπον βλέποντες σὺν αὐτοῖς ἑστῶτα τὸν τεθεραπευμένον οὐδὲν εἶχον ἀντειπεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): keleysantes de aytoys exo toy synedriou apelthein syneballon pros allelous
Edified Edition (EDE)But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

κελεύσαντες δὲ αὐτοὺς ἔξω τοῦ συνεδρίου ἀπελθεῖν συνέβαλλον πρὸς ἀλλήλους

Phonetic (Greek): legontes· Ti ⸀poiesomen tois anthropois toytois; hoti men gar gnoston semeion gegonen diʼ ayton pasin tois katoikoysin Ἰerousalem phaneron, kai oy dynametha ⸀arneisthai·
Edified Edition (EDE)saying, "What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

λέγοντες· Τί ⸀ποιήσωμεν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τούτοις; ὅτι μὲν γὰρ γνωστὸν σημεῖον γέγονεν διʼ αὐτῶν πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν Ἰερουσαλὴμ φανερόν, καὶ οὐ δυνάμεθα ⸀ἀρνεῖσθαι·

Phonetic (Greek): allʼ hina me epi pleion dianemethῇ eis ton laon, ⸀apeilesometha aytois meketi lalein epi tῷ onomati toytῳ medeni anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name."

ἀλλʼ ἵνα μὴ ἐπὶ πλεῖον διανεμηθῇ εἰς τὸν λαόν, ⸀ἀπειλησώμεθα αὐτοῖς μηκέτι λαλεῖν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τούτῳ μηδενὶ ἀνθρώπων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai kalesantes aytoys parengeilan ⸀to katholou me phthengesthai mede didaskein epi tῷ onomati toy Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

καὶ καλέσαντες αὐτοὺς παρήγγειλαν ⸀τὸ καθόλου μὴ φθέγγεσθαι μηδὲ διδάσκειν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Petros kai Ἰoannes apokrithentes ⸂eipon pros aytoys⸃· Ei dikaion estin enopion toy theoy hymon akoyein mallon e toy theoy, krinate,
Edified Edition (EDE)But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

ὁ δὲ Πέτρος καὶ Ἰωάννης ἀποκριθέντες ⸂εἶπον πρὸς αὐτούς⸃· Εἰ δίκαιόν ἐστιν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν ἀκούειν μᾶλλον ἢ τοῦ θεοῦ, κρίνατε,

Phonetic (Greek): oy dynametha gar hemeis ha eidamen kai ekoysamen me lalein.
Edified Edition (EDE)For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."

οὐ δυνάμεθα γὰρ ἡμεῖς ἃ εἴδαμεν καὶ ἠκούσαμεν μὴ λαλεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de prosapeilesamenoi apelysan aytoys, meden ehyriskontes to pos ⸀kolasontai aytoys, dia ton laon, hoti pantes edoxazon ton theon epi tῷ gegonoti·
Edified Edition (EDE)So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way that they might punish them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.

οἱ δὲ προσαπειλησάμενοι ἀπέλυσαν αὐτούς, μηδὲν εὑρίσκοντες τὸ πῶς ⸀κολάσωνται αὐτούς, διὰ τὸν λαόν, ὅτι πάντες ἐδόξαζον τὸν θεὸν ἐπὶ τῷ γεγονότι·

Phonetic (Greek): eton gar en pleionon tesserakonta ho anthropos ephʼ hon ⸀gegonei to semeion toyto tes iaseos.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.

ἐτῶν γὰρ ἦν πλειόνων τεσσεράκοντα ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐφʼ ὃν ⸀γεγόνει τὸ σημεῖον τοῦτο τῆς ἰάσεως.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀpolythentes de elthon pros toys idious kai apengeilan hosa pros aytoys ohi archiereis kai ohi presbyteroi eipan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

Ἀπολυθέντες δὲ ἦλθον πρὸς τοὺς ἰδίους καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν ὅσα πρὸς αὐτοὺς οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι εἶπαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de akoysantes homothymadon eran phonen pros ton theon kai eipan· Despota, ⸀sy ho poiesas ton oyranon kai ten gen kai ten thalassan kai panta ta en aytois,
Edified Edition (EDE)So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἦραν φωνὴν πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ εἶπαν· Δέσποτα, ⸀σὺ ὁ ποιήσας τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐτοῖς,

Phonetic (Greek): ho ⸂toy patros hemon⸃ dia ⸂pneymatos hagiou⸃ stomatos Dauid paidos sou eipon· Ἱnati ephryaxan ethne kai laoi emeletesan kena;
Edified Edition (EDE)who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, And the people plot vain things?

ὁ ⸂τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν⸃ διὰ ⸂πνεύματος ἁγίου⸃ στόματος Δαυὶδ παιδός σου εἰπών· Ἱνατί ἐφρύαξαν ἔθνη καὶ λαοὶ ἐμελέτησαν κενά;

Phonetic (Greek): parestesan ohi basileis tes ges kai ohi archontes synechthesan epi to ayto kata toy kyriou kai kata toy christoy aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the LORD and against His Christ.’"

παρέστησαν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες συνήχθησαν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ κατὰ τοῦ χριστοῦ αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): synechthesan gar epʼ aletheias ⸂en tῇ polei taytῃ⸃ epi ton hagion paida sou Ἰesoyn, hon echrisas, Ἡrῴdes te kai Pontios Pilatos syn ethnesin kai laois Ἰsrael,
Edified Edition (EDE)"For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together

συνήχθησαν γὰρ ἐπʼ ἀληθείας ⸂ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ⸃ ἐπὶ τὸν ἅγιον παῖδά σου Ἰησοῦν, ὃν ἔχρισας, Ἡρῴδης τε καὶ Πόντιος Πιλᾶτος σὺν ἔθνεσιν καὶ λαοῖς Ἰσραήλ,

Phonetic (Greek): poiesai hosa he cheir sou kai he ⸀boule proorisen genesthai.
Edified Edition (EDE)to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.

ποιῆσαι ὅσα ἡ χείρ σου καὶ ἡ ⸀βουλὴ προώρισεν γενέσθαι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ta nyn, kyrie, epide epi tas apeilas ayton kai dos tois doylois sou meta parresias pases lalein ton logon sou,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,

καὶ τὰ νῦν, κύριε, ἔπιδε ἐπὶ τὰς ἀπειλὰς αὐτῶν καὶ δὸς τοῖς δούλοις σου μετὰ παρρησίας πάσης λαλεῖν τὸν λόγον σου,

Phonetic (Greek): en tῷ ten cheira ⸀sou ekteinein se eis iasin kai semeia kai terata ginesthai dia toy onomatos toy hagiou paidos sou Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."

ἐν τῷ τὴν χεῖρά ⸀σου ἐκτείνειν σε εἰς ἴασιν καὶ σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα γίνεσθαι διὰ τοῦ ὀνόματος τοῦ ἁγίου παιδός σου Ἰησοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai deethenton ayton esaleythe ho topos en ho esan synegmenoi, kai eplesthesan hapantes ⸂toy hagiou pneymatos⸃, kai elaloun ton logon toy theoy meta parresias.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

καὶ δεηθέντων αὐτῶν ἐσαλεύθη ὁ τόπος ἐν ᾧ ἦσαν συνηγμένοι, καὶ ἐπλήσθησαν ἅπαντες ⸂τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος⸃, καὶ ἐλάλουν τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ μετὰ παρρησίας.

Phonetic (Greek): Toy de plethous ton pisteusanton en ⸀kardia kai ⸀psyche mia, kai oyde ehis ti ton hyparchonton ⸀aytῷ elegen idion einai, allʼ en aytois ⸀panta koina.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

Τοῦ δὲ πλήθους τῶν πιστευσάντων ἦν ⸀καρδία καὶ ⸀ψυχὴ μία, καὶ οὐδὲ εἷς τι τῶν ὑπαρχόντων ⸀αὐτῷ ἔλεγεν ἴδιον εἶναι, ἀλλʼ ἦν αὐτοῖς ⸀πάντα κοινά.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂dynamei megalῃ⸃ apedidoun to martyrion ohi apostoloi ⸂tes anastaseos toy kyriou Ἰesoy⸃, charis te megale en epi pantas aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

καὶ ⸂δυνάμει μεγάλῃ⸃ ἀπεδίδουν τὸ μαρτύριον οἱ ἀπόστολοι ⸂τῆς ἀναστάσεως τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ⸃, χάρις τε μεγάλη ἦν ἐπὶ πάντας αὐτούς.

Phonetic (Greek): oyde gar endees tis ⸀en en aytois· hosoi gar ktetores chorion e oikion hyperchon, poloyntes epheron tas timas ton pipraskomenon
Edified Edition (EDE)Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,

οὐδὲ γὰρ ἐνδεής τις ⸀ἦν ἐν αὐτοῖς· ὅσοι γὰρ κτήτορες χωρίων ἢ οἰκιῶν ὑπῆρχον, πωλοῦντες ἔφερον τὰς τιμὰς τῶν πιπρασκομένων

Phonetic (Greek): kai etithoun para toys podas ton apostolon· diedideto de hekastῳ kathoti an tis chreian eichen.
Edified Edition (EDE)and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

καὶ ἐτίθουν παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τῶν ἀποστόλων· διεδίδετο δὲ ἑκάστῳ καθότι ἄν τις χρείαν εἶχεν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Ἰoseph de ho epikletheis Barnabas apo ton apostolon, ho estin methermeneuomenon yhios parakleseos, Leuites, Kyprios tῷ genei,
Edified Edition (EDE)And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,

⸀Ἰωσὴφ δὲ ὁ ἐπικληθεὶς Βαρναβᾶς ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποστόλων, ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον υἱὸς παρακλήσεως, Λευίτης, Κύπριος τῷ γένει,

Phonetic (Greek): hyparchontos aytῷ agroy polesas enenken to chrema kai etheken ⸀para toys podas ton apostolon.
Edified Edition (EDE)having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

ὑπάρχοντος αὐτῷ ἀγροῦ πωλήσας ἤνεγκεν τὸ χρῆμα καὶ ἔθηκεν ⸀παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τῶν ἀποστόλων.
