Edified Edition (EDE)Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

3
Phonetic (Greek): Saylos de elymaineto ten ekklesian kata toys oikous eisporeuomenos, syron te andras kai gynaikas paredidou eis phylaken.
Edified Edition (EDE)As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.

4
Phonetic (Greek): Ohi men oyn diasparentes dielthon eyangelizomenoi ton logon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.

5
Phonetic (Greek): Philippos de katelthon eis ⸀ten polin tes Samareias ekeryssen aytois ton christon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.

6
Phonetic (Greek): proseichon ⸀de ohi ochloi tois legomenois hypo toy Philippou homothymadon en tῷ akoyein aytoys kai blepein ta semeia ha epoiei·
Edified Edition (EDE)And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

7
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀polloi gar ton echonton pneymata akatharta boonta phonῇ megalῃ ⸀exerchonto, polloi de paralelymenoi kai choloi etherapeythesan·
Edified Edition (EDE)For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralysed and lame were healed.

9
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀner de tis onomati Simon proyperchen en tῇ polei mageyon kai ⸀existanon to ethnos tes Samareias, legon einai tina heauton megan,
Edified Edition (EDE)But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practised sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great,

11
Phonetic (Greek): proseichon de aytῷ dia to hikanῷ chronῳ tais mageiais exestakenai aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.

12
Phonetic (Greek): hote de episteusan tῷ Philippῳ eyangelizomenῳ ⸀peri tes basileias toy theoy kai toy onomatos Ἰesoy Christoy, ebaptizonto andres te kai gynaikes.
Edified Edition (EDE)But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptised.

13
Phonetic (Greek): ho de Simon kai aytos episteusen, kai baptistheis en proskarteron tῷ Philippῳ, theoron te ⸂semeia kai dynameis megalas ginomenas⸃ existato.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptised he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.

14
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀkoysantes de ohi en Ἱerosolymois apostoloi hoti dedektai he Samareia ton logon toy theoy, apesteilan pros ⸀aytoys Petron kai Ἰoannen,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

16
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀oydepo gar en epʼ oydeni ayton epipeptokos, monon de bebaptismenoi hyperchon eis to onoma toy ⸀kyriou Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.

17

18
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀idon de ho Simon hoti dia tes epitheseos ton cheiron ton apostolon didotai to ⸀pneyma prosenenken aytois chremata
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

19
Phonetic (Greek): legon· Dote kamoi ten exousian tayten hina ho ean epitho tas cheiras lambanῃ pneyma hagion.
Edified Edition (EDE)saying, "Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit."

21

Edified Edition (EDE)You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.

22
Phonetic (Greek): metanoeson oyn apo tes kakias sou taytes, kai deetheti toy ⸀kyriou ei ara aphethesetai soi he epinoia tes kardias sou·
Edified Edition (EDE)Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

23
Phonetic (Greek): eis gar cholen pikrias kai syndesmon adikias horo se onta.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity."

24
Phonetic (Greek): apokritheis de ho Simon eipen· Deethete hymeis hyper emoy pros ton kyrion hopos meden epelthῃ epʼ eme hon eirekate.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Simon answered and said, "Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me."

25
Phonetic (Greek): Ohi men oyn diamartyramenoi kai lalesantes ton logon toy kyriou ⸀hypestrephon eis ⸀Ἱerosolyma, pollas te komas ton Samariton ⸀eyengelizonto.
Edified Edition (EDE)So when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἄngelos de kyriou elalesen pros Philippon legon· Ἀnastethi kai poreyou kata mesembrian epi ten hodon ten katabainousan apo Ἰerousalem eis Gazan· ahyte estin eremos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desert.

29
Phonetic (Greek): eipen de to pneyma tῷ Philippῳ· Proselthe kai kolletheti tῷ harmati toytῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot."

Phonetic (Greek): prosdramon de ho Philippos ekousen aytoy anaginoskontos ⸂Ἠsaian ton propheten⸃ kai eipen· Ἆra ge ginoskeis ha anaginoskeis;
Edified Edition (EDE)So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

προσδραμὼν δὲ ὁ Φίλιππος ἤκουσεν αὐτοῦ ἀναγινώσκοντος ⸂Ἠσαΐαν τὸν προφήτην⸃ καὶ εἶπεν· Ἆρά γε γινώσκεις ἃ ἀναγινώσκεις;

31
Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen· Pos gar an dynaimen ean me tis ⸀hodegesei me; parekalesen te ton Philippon anabanta kathisai syn aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

32

Edified Edition (EDE)The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

33

Edified Edition (EDE)In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth."

34
Phonetic (Greek): apokritheis de ho eynoychos tῷ Philippῳ eipen· Deomai sou, peri tinos ho prophetes legei ⸀toyto; peri heautoy e peri heterou tinos;
Edified Edition (EDE)So the eunuch answered Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?"

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ εὐνοῦχος τῷ Φιλίππῳ εἶπεν· Δέομαί σου, περὶ τίνος ὁ προφήτης λέγει ⸀τοῦτο; περὶ ἑαυτοῦ ἢ περὶ ἑτέρου τινός;

35
Phonetic (Greek): anoixas de ho Philippos to stoma aytoy kai arxamenos apo tes graphes taytes eyengelisato aytῷ ton Ἰesoyn.

36
Phonetic (Greek): hos de eporeyonto kata ten hodon, elthon epi ti hydor, kai phesin ho eynoychos· Ἰdoy hydor, ti kolyei me ⸀baptisthenai;
Edified Edition (EDE)Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptised?"

ὡς δὲ ἐπορεύοντο κατὰ τὴν ὁδόν, ἦλθον ἐπί τι ὕδωρ, καί φησιν ὁ εὐνοῦχος· Ἰδοὺ ὕδωρ, τί κωλύει με ⸀βαπτισθῆναι;

39

Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.
