Edified Edition (EDE)Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

Ὁ δὲ Σαῦλος ἔτι ἐμπνέων ἀπειλῆς καὶ φόνου εἰς τοὺς μαθητὰς τοῦ κυρίου, προσελθὼν τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ

Phonetic (Greek): etesato parʼ aytoy epistolas eis Damaskon pros tas synagogas, hopos ean tinas ehyrῃ tes hodoy ontas, andras te kai gynaikas, dedemenous agagῃ eis Ἰerousalem.
Edified Edition (EDE)and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

ᾐτήσατο παρʼ αὐτοῦ ἐπιστολὰς εἰς Δαμασκὸν πρὸς τὰς συναγωγάς, ὅπως ἐάν τινας εὕρῃ τῆς ὁδοῦ ὄντας, ἄνδρας τε καὶ γυναῖκας, δεδεμένους ἀγάγῃ εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ.

Phonetic (Greek): en de tῷ poreyesthai egeneto ayton engizein tῇ Damaskῷ, ⸂exaiphnes te ayton periestrapsen⸃ phos ⸀ek toy oyranoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.

ἐν δὲ τῷ πορεύεσθαι ἐγένετο αὐτὸν ἐγγίζειν τῇ Δαμασκῷ, ⸂ἐξαίφνης τε αὐτὸν περιήστραψεν⸃ φῶς ⸀ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): kai peson epi ten gen ekousen phonen legousan aytῷ Saoyl Saoyl, ti me diokeis;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

καὶ πεσὼν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἤκουσεν φωνὴν λέγουσαν αὐτῷ Σαοὺλ Σαούλ, τί με διώκεις;

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de· Tis ei, kyrie; ho ⸀de· Ἐgo eimi Ἰesoys hon sy diokeis·
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads."

εἶπεν δέ· Τίς εἶ, κύριε; ὁ ⸀δέ· Ἐγώ εἰμι Ἰησοῦς ὃν σὺ διώκεις·

Phonetic (Greek): alla anastethi kai eiselthe eis ten polin, kai lalethesetai soi ⸂ho ti⸃ se dei poiein.
Edified Edition (EDE)So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

ἀλλὰ ἀνάστηθι καὶ εἴσελθε εἰς τὴν πόλιν, καὶ λαληθήσεταί σοι ⸂ὅ τί⸃ σε δεῖ ποιεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de andres ohi synodeyontes aytῷ ehistekeisan eneoi, akoyontes men tes phones medena de theoroyntes.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one.

οἱ δὲ ἄνδρες οἱ συνοδεύοντες αὐτῷ εἱστήκεισαν ἐνεοί, ἀκούοντες μὲν τῆς φωνῆς μηδένα δὲ θεωροῦντες.

Phonetic (Greek): egerthe de ⸀Saylos apo tes ges, aneῳgmenon ⸀de ton ophthalmon aytoy ⸀oyden eblepen· cheiragogoyntes de ayton eisegagon eis Damaskon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.

ἠγέρθη δὲ ⸀Σαῦλος ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς, ἀνεῳγμένων ⸀δὲ τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ ⸀οὐδὲν ἔβλεπεν· χειραγωγοῦντες δὲ αὐτὸν εἰσήγαγον εἰς Δαμασκόν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai en hemeras treis me blepon, kai oyk ephagen oyde epien.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

καὶ ἦν ἡμέρας τρεῖς μὴ βλέπων, καὶ οὐκ ἔφαγεν οὐδὲ ἔπιεν.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἦn de tis mathetes en Damaskῷ onomati Ἁnanias, kai eipen pros ayton ⸂en horamati ho kyrios⸃· Ἁnania. ho de eipen· Ἰdoy ego, kyrie.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord."

Ἦν δέ τις μαθητὴς ἐν Δαμασκῷ ὀνόματι Ἁνανίας, καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ⸂ἐν ὁράματι ὁ κύριος⸃· Ἁνανία. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ἰδοὺ ἐγώ, κύριε.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de kyrios pros ayton· ⸀Ἀnastas poreytheti epi ten ῥymen ten kaloumenen Eytheian kai zeteson en oikiᾳ Ἰoyda Saylon onomati Tarsea, idoy gar proseychetai,
Edified Edition (EDE)So the Lord said to him, "Arise and go to the street called Straight, and enquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.

ὁ δὲ κύριος πρὸς αὐτόν· ⸀Ἀναστὰς πορεύθητι ἐπὶ τὴν ῥύμην τὴν καλουμένην Εὐθεῖαν καὶ ζήτησον ἐν οἰκίᾳ Ἰούδα Σαῦλον ὀνόματι Ταρσέα, ἰδοὺ γὰρ προσεύχεται,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eiden ⸂andra en horamati Ἁnanian onomati⸃ eiselthonta kai epithenta aytῷ ⸀cheiras hopos anablepsῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight."

καὶ εἶδεν ⸂ἄνδρα ἐν ὁράματι Ἁνανίαν ὀνόματι⸃ εἰσελθόντα καὶ ἐπιθέντα αὐτῷ ⸀χεῖρας ὅπως ἀναβλέψῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): apekrithe de Ἁnanias· Kyrie, ⸀ekousa apo pollon peri toy andros toytou, hosa kaka ⸂tois hagiois sou epoiesen⸃ en Ἰerousalem·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.

ἀπεκρίθη δὲ Ἁνανίας· Κύριε, ⸀ἤκουσα ἀπὸ πολλῶν περὶ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς τούτου, ὅσα κακὰ ⸂τοῖς ἁγίοις σου ἐποίησεν⸃ ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ·

Phonetic (Greek): kai hode echei exousian para ton archiereon desai pantas toys epikaloumenous to onoma sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name."

καὶ ὧδε ἔχει ἐξουσίαν παρὰ τῶν ἀρχιερέων δῆσαι πάντας τοὺς ἐπικαλουμένους τὸ ὄνομά σου.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de pros ayton ho kyrios· Poreyou, hoti skeyos ekloges ⸂estin moi⸃ ohytos toy bastasai to onoma mou enopion ⸀ethnon ⸀te kai basileon yhion te Ἰsrael,
Edified Edition (EDE)But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος· Πορεύου, ὅτι σκεῦος ἐκλογῆς ⸂ἐστίν μοι⸃ οὗτος τοῦ βαστάσαι τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐνώπιον ⸀ἐθνῶν ⸀τε καὶ βασιλέων υἱῶν τε Ἰσραήλ,

Phonetic (Greek): ego gar hypodeixo aytῷ hosa dei ayton hyper toy onomatos mou pathein.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake."

ἐγὼ γὰρ ὑποδείξω αὐτῷ ὅσα δεῖ αὐτὸν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ὀνόματός μου παθεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): apelthen de Ἁnanias kai eiselthen eis ten oikian, kai epitheis epʼ ayton tas cheiras eipen· Saoyl adelphe, ho kyrios apestalken me, ⸀Ἰesoys ho ophtheis soi en tῇ hodῷ he erchou, hopos anablepsῃs kai plesthῇs pneymatos hagiou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

ἀπῆλθεν δὲ Ἁνανίας καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν, καὶ ἐπιθεὶς ἐπʼ αὐτὸν τὰς χεῖρας εἶπεν· Σαοὺλ ἀδελφέ, ὁ κύριος ἀπέσταλκέν με, ⸀Ἰησοῦς ὁ ὀφθείς σοι ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ᾗ ἤρχου, ὅπως ἀναβλέψῃς καὶ πλησθῇς πνεύματος ἁγίου.

Phonetic (Greek): kai labon trophen ⸀enischysen. Ἐgeneto ⸀de meta ton en Damaskῷ matheton hemeras tinas,
Edified Edition (EDE)So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.

καὶ λαβὼν τροφὴν ⸀ἐνίσχυσεν. Ἐγένετο ⸀δὲ μετὰ τῶν ἐν Δαμασκῷ μαθητῶν ἡμέρας τινὰς,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eytheos en tais synagogais ekeryssen ton ⸀Ἰesoyn hoti ohytos estin ho yhios toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.

καὶ εὐθέως ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς ἐκήρυσσεν τὸν ⸀Ἰησοῦν ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): existanto de pantes ohi akoyontes kai elegon· Oych ohytos estin ho porthesas ⸀en Ἰerousalem toys epikaloumenous to onoma toyto, kai hode eis toyto elelythei hina dedemenous aytoys agagῃ epi toys archiereis;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then all who heard were amazed, and said, "Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?"

ἐξίσταντο δὲ πάντες οἱ ἀκούοντες καὶ ἔλεγον· Οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ πορθήσας ⸀ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ τοὺς ἐπικαλουμένους τὸ ὄνομα τοῦτο, καὶ ὧδε εἰς τοῦτο ἐληλύθει ἵνα δεδεμένους αὐτοὺς ἀγάγῃ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς;

Phonetic (Greek): Saylos de mallon enedynamoyto kai ⸀synechynnen ⸀toys Ἰoudaious toys katoikoyntas en Damaskῷ, symbibazon hoti ohytos estin ho christos.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

Σαῦλος δὲ μᾶλλον ἐνεδυναμοῦτο καὶ ⸀συνέχυννεν ⸀τοὺς Ἰουδαίους τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν Δαμασκῷ, συμβιβάζων ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὡs de epleroynto hemerai hikanai, synebouleysanto ohi Ἰoudaioi anelein ayton·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him.

Ὡς δὲ ἐπληροῦντο ἡμέραι ἱκαναί, συνεβουλεύσαντο οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἀνελεῖν αὐτόν·

Phonetic (Greek): egnosthe de tῷ Saylῳ he epiboule ayton. ⸂pareteroynto de kai⸃ tas pylas hemeras te kai nyktos hopos ayton anelosin·
Edified Edition (EDE)But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night, to kill him.

ἐγνώσθη δὲ τῷ Σαύλῳ ἡ ἐπιβουλὴ αὐτῶν. ⸂παρετηροῦντο δὲ καὶ⸃ τὰς πύλας ἡμέρας τε καὶ νυκτὸς ὅπως αὐτὸν ἀνέλωσιν·

Phonetic (Greek): labontes de ⸂ohi mathetai aytoy⸃ nyktos ⸂dia toy teichous kathekan ayton⸃ chalasantes en spyridi.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket.

λαβόντες δὲ ⸂οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ⸃ νυκτὸς ⸂διὰ τοῦ τείχους καθῆκαν αὐτὸν⸃ χαλάσαντες ἐν σπυρίδι.

Phonetic (Greek): Paragenomenos de ⸀eis Ἰerousalem ⸀epeirazen kollasthai tois mathetais· kai pantes ephoboynto ayton, me pisteyontes hoti estin mathetes.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.

Παραγενόμενος δὲ ⸀εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ ⸀ἐπείραζεν κολλᾶσθαι τοῖς μαθηταῖς· καὶ πάντες ἐφοβοῦντο αὐτόν, μὴ πιστεύοντες ὅτι ἐστὶν μαθητής.

Phonetic (Greek): Barnabas de epilabomenos ayton egagen pros toys apostolous, kai diegesato aytois pos en tῇ hodῷ eiden ton kyrion kai hoti elalesen aytῷ kai pos en Damaskῷ eparresiasato en tῷ onomati ⸀toy Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

Βαρναβᾶς δὲ ἐπιλαβόμενος αὐτὸν ἤγαγεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀποστόλους, καὶ διηγήσατο αὐτοῖς πῶς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ εἶδεν τὸν κύριον καὶ ὅτι ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ καὶ πῶς ἐν Δαμασκῷ ἐπαρρησιάσατο ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι ⸀τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai en metʼ ayton eisporeuomenos ⸂kai ekporeuomenos⸃ eis ⸀Ἰerousalem, parresiazomenos en tῷ onomati toy ⸀kyriou,
Edified Edition (EDE)So he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out.

καὶ ἦν μετʼ αὐτῶν εἰσπορευόμενος ⸂καὶ ἐκπορευόμενος⸃ εἰς ⸀Ἰερουσαλήμ, παρρησιαζόμενος ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ ⸀κυρίου,

Phonetic (Greek): elalei te kai synezetei pros toys Ἑllenistas· ohi de epecheiroun ⸂anelein ayton⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the Hellenists, but they attempted to kill him.

ἐλάλει τε καὶ συνεζήτει πρὸς τοὺς Ἑλληνιστάς· οἱ δὲ ἐπεχείρουν ⸂ἀνελεῖν αὐτόν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): epignontes de ohi adelphoi kategagon ayton eis Kaisareian kai exapesteilan ayton eis Tarson.
Edified Edition (EDE)When the brothers found out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him out to Tarsus.

ἐπιγνόντες δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ κατήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς Καισάρειαν καὶ ἐξαπέστειλαν αὐτὸν εἰς Ταρσόν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Ἡ men oyn ekklesia kathʼ holes tes Ἰoudaias kai Galilaias kai Samareias eichen eirenen oikodomoumene, kai poreuomene tῷ phobῳ toy kyriou kai tῇ paraklesei toy hagiou pneymatos eplethyneto⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

⸂Ἡ μὲν οὖν ἐκκλησία καθʼ ὅλης τῆς Ἰουδαίας καὶ Γαλιλαίας καὶ Σαμαρείας εἶχεν εἰρήνην οἰκοδομουμένη, καὶ πορευομένη τῷ φόβῳ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ τῇ παρακλήσει τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος ἐπληθύνετο⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐgeneto de Petron dierchomenon dia panton katelthein kai pros toys hagious toys katoikoyntas Lydda.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda.

Ἐγένετο δὲ Πέτρον διερχόμενον διὰ πάντων κατελθεῖν καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἁγίους τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Λύδδα.

Phonetic (Greek): ehyren de ekei anthropon tina ⸂onomati Ainean⸃ ex eton okto katakeimenon epi ⸀krabattou, hos en paralelymenos.
Edified Edition (EDE)There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralysed.

εὗρεν δὲ ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπόν τινα ⸂ὀνόματι Αἰνέαν⸃ ἐξ ἐτῶν ὀκτὼ κατακείμενον ἐπὶ ⸀κραβάττου, ὃς ἦν παραλελυμένος.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipen aytῷ ho Petros· Ainea, iatai se Ἰesoys ⸀Christos· anastethi kai stroson seautῷ· kai eytheos aneste.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed." Then he arose immediately.

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος· Αἰνέα, ἰᾶταί σε Ἰησοῦς ⸀Χριστός· ἀνάστηθι καὶ στρῶσον σεαυτῷ· καὶ εὐθέως ἀνέστη.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eidan ayton pantes ohi katoikoyntes Lydda kai ton ⸀Sarona, ohitines epestrepsan epi ton kyrion.
Edified Edition (EDE)So all who dwelt in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

καὶ εἶδαν αὐτὸν πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες Λύδδα καὶ τὸν ⸀Σαρῶνα, οἵτινες ἐπέστρεψαν ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐn Ἰoppῃ de tis en mathetria onomati Tabitha, he diermeneuomene legetai Dorkas· ahyte en pleres ⸂ergon agathon⸃ kai eleemosynon hon epoiei.
Edified Edition (EDE)At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.

Ἐν Ἰόππῃ δέ τις ἦν μαθήτρια ὀνόματι Ταβιθά, ἣ διερμηνευομένη λέγεται Δορκάς· αὕτη ἦν πλήρης ⸂ἔργων ἀγαθῶν⸃ καὶ ἐλεημοσυνῶν ὧν ἐποίει.

Phonetic (Greek): egeneto de en tais hemerais ekeinais asthenesasan ayten apothanein· loysantes de ⸂ethekan ayten⸃ en hyperῴῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.

ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἀσθενήσασαν αὐτὴν ἀποθανεῖν· λούσαντες δὲ ⸂ἔθηκαν αὐτὴν⸃ ἐν ὑπερῴῳ.

Phonetic (Greek): engys de oyses Lyddas tῇ Ἰoppῃ ohi mathetai akoysantes hoti Petros estin en aytῇ apesteilan ⸂dyo andras⸃ pros ayton parakaloyntes· Me ⸀oknesῃs dielthein heos ⸀hemon·
Edified Edition (EDE)And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.

ἐγγὺς δὲ οὔσης Λύδδας τῇ Ἰόππῃ οἱ μαθηταὶ ἀκούσαντες ὅτι Πέτρος ἐστὶν ἐν αὐτῇ ἀπέστειλαν ⸂δύο ἄνδρας⸃ πρὸς αὐτὸν παρακαλοῦντες· Μὴ ⸀ὀκνήσῃς διελθεῖν ἕως ⸀ἡμῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): anastas de Petros synelthen aytois· hon paragenomenon anegagon eis to hyperῷon, kai parestesan aytῷ pasai ahi cherai klaiousai kai epideiknymenai chitonas kai himatia hosa epoiei metʼ ayton oysa he Dorkas.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

ἀναστὰς δὲ Πέτρος συνῆλθεν αὐτοῖς· ὃν παραγενόμενον ἀνήγαγον εἰς τὸ ὑπερῷον, καὶ παρέστησαν αὐτῷ πᾶσαι αἱ χῆραι κλαίουσαι καὶ ἐπιδεικνύμεναι χιτῶνας καὶ ἱμάτια ὅσα ἐποίει μετʼ αὐτῶν οὖσα ἡ Δορκάς.
