Chapter 3

Edified Edition (EDE)For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles,

Τούτου χάριν ἐγὼ Παῦλος ὁ δέσμιος τοῦ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν τῶν ἐθνῶν—

Phonetic (Greek): ei ge ekoysate ten oikonomian tes charitos toy theoy tes dotheises moi eis hymas·

Edified Edition (EDE)if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you,

εἴ γε ἠκούσατε τὴν οἰκονομίαν τῆς χάριτος τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς δοθείσης μοι εἰς ὑμᾶς·

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀kata apokalypsin ⸀egnoristhe moi to mysterion, kathos proegrapsa en oligῳ,

Edified Edition (EDE)how by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already,

⸀κατὰ ἀποκάλυψιν ⸀ἐγνωρίσθη μοι τὸ μυστήριον, καθὼς προέγραψα ἐν ὀλίγῳ,

Phonetic (Greek): pros ho dynasthe anaginoskontes noesai ten synesin mou en tῷ mysteriῳ toy Christoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ),

πρὸς ὃ δύνασθε ἀναγινώσκοντες νοῆσαι τὴν σύνεσίν μου ἐν τῷ μυστηρίῳ τοῦ Χριστοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): ho heterais geneais oyk egnoristhe tois yhiois ton anthropon hos nyn apekalyphthe tois hagiois apostolois aytoy kai prophetais en pneymati,

Edified Edition (EDE)which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:

ὃ ἑτέραις γενεαῖς οὐκ ἐγνωρίσθη τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων ὡς νῦν ἀπεκαλύφθη τοῖς ἁγίοις ἀποστόλοις αὐτοῦ καὶ προφήταις ἐν πνεύματι,

Phonetic (Greek): einai ta ethne synkleronoma kai syssoma kai symmetocha tes epangelias ⸂en Christῷ Ἰesoy⸃ dia toy eyangeliou,

Edified Edition (EDE)that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,

εἶναι τὰ ἔθνη συγκληρονόμα καὶ σύσσωμα καὶ συμμέτοχα τῆς ἐπαγγελίας ⸂ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ⸃ διὰ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου,

Phonetic (Greek): ohy ⸀egenethen diakonos kata ten dorean tes charitos toy theoy ⸂tes dotheises⸃ moi kata ten energeian tes dynameos aytoy—

Edified Edition (EDE)of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

οὗ ⸀ἐγενήθην διάκονος κατὰ τὴν δωρεὰν τῆς χάριτος τοῦ θεοῦ ⸂τῆς δοθείσης⸃ μοι κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ—

Phonetic (Greek): emoi tῷ elachistoterῳ panton hagion edothe he charis ahyte— ⸀tois ethnesin eyangelisasthai ⸂to anexichniaston ploytos⸃ toy Christoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

ἐμοὶ τῷ ἐλαχιστοτέρῳ πάντων ἁγίων ἐδόθη ἡ χάρις αὕτη— ⸀τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐαγγελίσασθαι ⸂τὸ ἀνεξιχνίαστον πλοῦτος⸃ τοῦ Χριστοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): kai photisai ⸀pantas tis he oikonomia toy mysteriou toy apokekrymmenou apo ton aionon en tῷ theῷ tῷ ta panta ⸀ktisanti,

Edified Edition (EDE)and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;

καὶ φωτίσαι ⸀πάντας τίς ἡ οἰκονομία τοῦ μυστηρίου τοῦ ἀποκεκρυμμένου ἀπὸ τῶν αἰώνων ἐν τῷ θεῷ τῷ τὰ πάντα ⸀κτίσαντι,

Phonetic (Greek): hina gnoristhῇ nyn tais archais kai tais exousiais en tois epouraniois dia tes ekklesias he polypoikilos sophia toy theoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,

ἵνα γνωρισθῇ νῦν ταῖς ἀρχαῖς καὶ ταῖς ἐξουσίαις ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις διὰ τῆς ἐκκλησίας ἡ πολυποίκιλος σοφία τοῦ θεοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): kata prothesin ton aionon hen epoiesen en ⸀tῷ Christῷ Ἰesoy tῷ kyriῳ hemon,

Edified Edition (EDE)according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

κατὰ πρόθεσιν τῶν αἰώνων ἣν ἐποίησεν ἐν ⸀τῷ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν,

Phonetic (Greek): en ho echomen ten parresian ⸀kai prosagogen en pepoithesei dia tes pisteos aytoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

ἐν ᾧ ἔχομεν τὴν παρρησίαν ⸀καὶ προσαγωγὴν ἐν πεποιθήσει διὰ τῆς πίστεως αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): dio aitoymai me ⸀enkakein en tais thlipsesin mou hyper hymon, hetis estin doxa hymon.

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

διὸ αἰτοῦμαι μὴ ⸀ἐγκακεῖν ἐν ταῖς θλίψεσίν μου ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, ἥτις ἐστὶν δόξα ὑμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): Toytou charin kampto ta gonata mou pros ton ⸀patera,

Edified Edition (EDE)For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Τούτου χάριν κάμπτω τὰ γόνατά μου πρὸς τὸν ⸀πατέρα,

Phonetic (Greek): ex ohy pasa patria en oyranois kai epi ges onomazetai,

Edified Edition (EDE)from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

ἐξ οὗ πᾶσα πατριὰ ἐν οὐρανοῖς καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς ὀνομάζεται,

Phonetic (Greek): hina ⸀dῷ hymin kata ⸂to ploytos⸃ tes doxes aytoy dynamei krataiothenai dia toy pneymatos aytoy eis ton eso anthropon,

Edified Edition (EDE)that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

ἵνα ⸀δῷ ὑμῖν κατὰ ⸂τὸ πλοῦτος⸃ τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ δυνάμει κραταιωθῆναι διὰ τοῦ πνεύματος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν ἔσω ἄνθρωπον,

Phonetic (Greek): katoikesai ton Christon dia tes pisteos en tais kardiais hymon en agapῃ· errizomenoi kai tethemeliomenoi,

Edified Edition (EDE)that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

κατοικῆσαι τὸν Χριστὸν διὰ τῆς πίστεως ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν ἐν ἀγάπῃ· ἐρριζωμένοι καὶ τεθεμελιωμένοι,

Phonetic (Greek): hina exischysete katalabesthai syn pasin tois hagiois ti to platos kai mekos kai ⸂hypsos kai bathos⸃,

Edified Edition (EDE)may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height,

ἵνα ἐξισχύσητε καταλαβέσθαι σὺν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἁγίοις τί τὸ πλάτος καὶ μῆκος καὶ ⸂ὕψος καὶ βάθος⸃,

Phonetic (Greek): gnonai te ten hyperballousan tes gnoseos agapen toy Christoy, hina plerothete eis pan to pleroma toy theoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

γνῶναί τε τὴν ὑπερβάλλουσαν τῆς γνώσεως ἀγάπην τοῦ Χριστοῦ, ἵνα πληρωθῆτε εἰς πᾶν τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Tῷ de dynamenῳ hyper panta poiesai hyperekperissoy hon aitoymetha e nooymen kata ten dynamin ten energoumenen en hemin,

Edified Edition (EDE)Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Τῷ δὲ δυναμένῳ ὑπὲρ πάντα ποιῆσαι ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ ὧν αἰτούμεθα ἢ νοοῦμεν κατὰ τὴν δύναμιν τὴν ἐνεργουμένην ἐν ἡμῖν,

Phonetic (Greek): aytῷ he doxa en tῇ ekklesiᾳ ⸀kai en Christῷ Ἰesoy eis pasas tas geneas toy aionos ton aionon· amen.

Edified Edition (EDE)to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

αὐτῷ ἡ δόξα ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ ⸀καὶ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ εἰς πάσας τὰς γενεὰς τοῦ αἰῶνος τῶν αἰώνων· ἀμήν.
