Galatians

Chapter 2
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ἔpeita dia dekatessaron eton palin aneben eis Ἱerosolyma meta Barnaba symparalabon kai Titon·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.

2
Phonetic (Greek): aneben de kata apokalypsin· kai anethemen aytois to eyangelion ho kerysso en tois ethnesin, katʼ idian de tois dokoysin, me pos eis kenon trecho e edramon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain.

3
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ oyde Titos ho syn emoi, Ἕllen on, enankasthe peritmethenai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

4
Phonetic (Greek): dia de toys pareisaktous pseudadelphous, ohitines pareiselthon kataskopesai ten eleutherian hemon hen echomen en Christῷ Ἰesoy, hina hemas ⸀katadoulosousin—
Edified Edition (EDE)And this occurred because of false brothers secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage),

5
Phonetic (Greek): ohis oyde pros horan eixamen tῇ hypotagῇ, hina he aletheia toy eyangeliou diameinῃ pros hymas.
Edified Edition (EDE)to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

6
Phonetic (Greek): apo de ton dokoynton einai ti— hopoioi pote esan oyden moi diapherei· prosopon ⸀theos anthropou oy lambanei— emoi gar ohi dokoyntes oyden prosanethento,
Edified Edition (EDE)But from those who seemed to be something, whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favouritism to no man, for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.

7
Phonetic (Greek): alla toynantion idontes hoti pepisteumai to eyangelion tes akrobystias kathos Petros tes peritomes,
Edified Edition (EDE)But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter

8
Phonetic (Greek): ho gar energesas Petrῳ eis apostolen tes peritomes energesen kai emoi eis ta ethne,
Edified Edition (EDE)(for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles),

9
Phonetic (Greek): kai gnontes ten charin ten dotheisan moi, Ἰakobos kai Kephas kai Ἰoannes, ohi dokoyntes styloi einai, dexias edokan emoi kai Barnabᾷ koinonias, hina ⸀hemeis eis ta ethne, aytoi de eis ten peritomen·
Edified Edition (EDE)and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

10
Phonetic (Greek): monon ton ptochon hina mnemoneyomen, ho kai espoydasa ayto toyto poiesai.
Edified Edition (EDE)They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.

Edified Edition (EDE)Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed.

12
Phonetic (Greek): pro toy gar elthein tinas apo Ἰakobou meta ton ethnon synesthien· hote de ⸀elthon, hypestellen kai aphorizen heauton, phoboymenos toys ek peritomes.
Edified Edition (EDE)For before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.

13
Phonetic (Greek): kai synypekrithesan aytῷ ⸀kai ohi loipoi Ἰoudaioi, hoste kai Barnabas synapechthe ayton tῇ hypokrisei.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.

14
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ hote eidon hoti oyk orthopodoysin pros ten aletheian toy eyangeliou, eipon tῷ ⸀Kephᾷ emprosthen panton· Ei sy Ἰoudaios hyparchon ethnikos ⸂kai ⸀oyk Ἰoudaikos zῇs⸃, ⸀pos ta ethne anankazeis Ἰoudaizein;
Edified Edition (EDE)But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

ἀλλʼ ὅτε εἶδον ὅτι οὐκ ὀρθοποδοῦσιν πρὸς τὴν ἀλήθειαν τοῦ εὐαγγελίου, εἶπον τῷ ⸀Κηφᾷ ἔμπροσθεν πάντων· Εἰ σὺ Ἰουδαῖος ὑπάρχων ἐθνικῶς ⸂καὶ ⸀οὐκ Ἰουδαϊκῶς ζῇς⸃, ⸀πῶς τὰ ἔθνη ἀναγκάζεις Ἰουδαΐζειν;

15
Phonetic (Greek): Ἡmeis physei Ἰoudaioi kai oyk ex ethnon hamartoloi,
Edified Edition (EDE)We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

16
Phonetic (Greek): eidotes ⸀de hoti oy dikaioytai anthropos ex ergon nomou ean me dia pisteos ⸂Ἰesoy Christoy⸃, kai hemeis eis Christon Ἰesoyn episteysamen, hina dikaiothomen ek pisteos Christoy kai oyk ex ergon nomou, ⸂hoti ex ergon nomou oy dikaiothesetai⸃ pasa sarx.
Edified Edition (EDE)knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

17
Phonetic (Greek): ei de zetoyntes dikaiothenai en Christῷ ehyrethemen kai aytoi hamartoloi, ara Christos hamartias diakonos; me genoito·
Edified Edition (EDE)But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!

18
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar ha katelysa tayta palin oikodomo, parabaten emauton ⸀synistano.
Edified Edition (EDE)For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

19
Phonetic (Greek): ego gar dia nomou nomῳ apethanon hina theῷ zeso· Christῷ synestayromai·
Edified Edition (EDE)For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.

Edified Edition (EDE)I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

21
Phonetic (Greek): oyk atheto ten charin toy theoy· ei gar dia nomou dikaiosyne, ara Christos dorean apethanen.
Edified Edition (EDE)I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."
