Galatians

Chapter 5
1
Phonetic (Greek): tῇ eleutheriᾳ ⸂hemas Christos eleutherosen· stekete oyn⸃ kai me palin zygῷ douleias enechesthe.
Edified Edition (EDE)Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

2
Phonetic (Greek): Ἴde ego Paylos lego hymin hoti ean peritemnesthe Christos hymas oyden ophelesei.
Edified Edition (EDE)Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.

3
Phonetic (Greek): martyromai de palin panti anthropῳ peritemnomenῳ hoti opheiletes estin holon ton nomon poiesai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.

4
Phonetic (Greek): katergethete ⸀apo Christoy ohitines en nomῳ dikaioysthe, tes charitos exepesate.
Edified Edition (EDE)You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

5
Phonetic (Greek): hemeis gar pneymati ek pisteos elpida dikaiosynes apekdechometha.
Edified Edition (EDE)For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

6
Phonetic (Greek): en gar Christῷ Ἰesoy oyte peritome ti ischyei oyte akrobystia, alla pistis diʼ agapes energoumene.
Edified Edition (EDE)For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

7
Phonetic (Greek): Ἐtrechete kalos· tis hymas enekopsen ⸀tῇ aletheiᾳ me peithesthai;
Edified Edition (EDE)You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

Ἐτρέχετε καλῶς· τίς ὑμᾶς ἐνέκοψεν ⸀τῇ ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι;

8
Phonetic (Greek): he peismone oyk ek toy kaloyntos hymas.
Edified Edition (EDE)This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you.

9
Phonetic (Greek): mikra zyme holon to phyrama zymoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

10
Phonetic (Greek): ego pepoitha eis hymas en kyriῳ hoti oyden allo phronesete· ho de tarasson hymas bastasei to krima, hostis ⸀ean e.
Edified Edition (EDE)I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgement, whoever he is.

11
Phonetic (Greek): ego de, adelphoi, ei peritomen eti kerysso, ti eti diokomai; ara katergetai to skandalon toy stauroy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offence of the cross has ceased.

12
Phonetic (Greek): ophelon kai apokopsontai ohi anastatoyntes hymas.
Edified Edition (EDE)I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off!

13
Phonetic (Greek): Ὑmeis gar epʼ eleutheriᾳ eklethete, adelphoi· monon me ten eleutherian eis aphormen tῇ sarki, alla dia tes agapes douleyete allelois·
Edified Edition (EDE)For you, brothers, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Edified Edition (EDE)For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbour as yourself."

15
Phonetic (Greek): ei de allelous daknete kai katesthiete, blepete me hypʼ allelon analothete.
Edified Edition (EDE)But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

16
Phonetic (Greek): Lego de, pneymati peripateite kai epithymian sarkos oy me telesete.
Edified Edition (EDE)I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17
Phonetic (Greek): he gar sarx epithymei kata toy pneymatos, to de pneyma kata tes sarkos, tayta ⸀gar ⸂allelois antikeitai⸃, hina me ha ⸀ean thelete tayta poiete.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

Edified Edition (EDE)But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19
Phonetic (Greek): phanera de estin ta erga tes sarkos, hatina ⸀estin porneia, akatharsia, aselgeia,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

20
Phonetic (Greek): eidololatria, pharmakeia, echthrai, ⸂eris, zelos⸃, thymoi, eritheiai, dichostasiai, ahireseis,
Edified Edition (EDE)idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

21
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀phthonoi, methai, komoi, kai ta homoia toytois, ha prolego hymin ⸀kathos proeipon hoti ohi ta toiayta prassontes basileian theoy oy kleronomesousin.
Edified Edition (EDE)envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practise such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22
Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ de karpos toy pneymatos estin agape, chara, eirene, makrothymia, chrestotes, agathosyne, pistis,
Edified Edition (EDE)But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23
Phonetic (Greek): praytes, enkrateia· kata ton toioyton oyk estin nomos.
Edified Edition (EDE)gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

24
Phonetic (Greek): ohi de toy ⸀Christoy ten sarka estayrosan syn tois pathemasin kai tais epithymiais.
Edified Edition (EDE)And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25
Phonetic (Greek): ei zomen pneymati, pneymati kai stoichomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26
Phonetic (Greek): me ginometha kenodoxoi, allelous prokaloymenoi, allelois phthonoyntes.
Edified Edition (EDE)Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
