Chapter 10
1
Phonetic (Greek): Skian gar echon ho nomos ton mellonton agathon, oyk ayten ten eikona ton pragmaton, katʼ eniauton tais aytais thysiais has prospherousin eis to dienekes oydepote ⸀dynatai toys proserchomenous teleiosai·
Edified Edition (EDE)For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

2
Phonetic (Greek): epei oyk an epaysanto prospheromenai, dia to medemian echein eti syneidesin hamartion toys latreyontas hapax ⸀kekatharismenous;
Edified Edition (EDE)For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

ἐπεὶ οὐκ ἂν ἐπαύσαντο προσφερόμεναι, διὰ τὸ μηδεμίαν ἔχειν ἔτι συνείδησιν ἁμαρτιῶν τοὺς λατρεύοντας ἅπαξ ⸀κεκαθαρισμένους;

3
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ en aytais anamnesis hamartion katʼ eniauton,
Edified Edition (EDE)But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

4
Phonetic (Greek): adynaton gar ahima tayron kai tragon aphairein hamartias.
Edified Edition (EDE)For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

5
Phonetic (Greek): dio eiserchomenos eis ton kosmon legei· Thysian kai prosphoran oyk ethelesas, soma de katertiso moi·
Edified Edition (EDE)Wherefore when He comes into the world, He says, "Sacrifice and offering You would not, but a body You have prepared Me:"

6
Phonetic (Greek): holokautomata kai peri hamartias oyk eydokesas.
Edified Edition (EDE)In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have had no pleasure.

7
Phonetic (Greek): tote eipon· Ἰdoy heko, en kephalidi bibliou gegraptai peri emoy, toy poiesai, ho theos, to thelema sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then said I, "Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me,) to do Your will, O God."

8
Phonetic (Greek): anoteron legon hoti ⸂Thysias kai prosphoras⸃ kai holokautomata kai peri hamartias oyk ethelesas oyde eydokesas, ahitines kata ⸀nomon prospherontai,
Edified Edition (EDE)Above when He said, "Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin You would not, neither had pleasure therein"; which are offered by the law;

9
Phonetic (Greek): tote eireken· Ἰdoy heko toy ⸀poiesai to thelema sou· anairei to proton hina to deyteron stesῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then said He, "Lo, I come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first, that He may establish the second.

10
Phonetic (Greek): en ho thelemati hegiasmenoi ⸀esmen dia tes prosphoras toy somatos Ἰesoy Christoy ephapax.
Edified Edition (EDE)By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11
Phonetic (Greek): Kai pas men hiereys hesteken kathʼ hemeran leitourgon kai tas aytas pollakis prospheron thysias, ahitines oydepote dynantai perielein hamartias.
Edified Edition (EDE)And every priest stands daily ministering and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

12
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀ohytos de mian hyper hamartion prosenenkas thysian eis to dienekes ekathisen en dexiᾷ toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13
Phonetic (Greek): to loipon ekdechomenos heos tethosin ohi echthroi aytoy hypopodion ton podon aytoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)From henceforth expecting until His enemies be made His footstool.

14
Phonetic (Greek): miᾷ gar prosphorᾷ teteleioken eis to dienekes toys hagiazomenous.
Edified Edition (EDE)For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

15
Phonetic (Greek): martyrei de hemin kai to pneyma to hagion, meta gar to ⸀eirekenai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Of which the Holy Spirit also is a witness to us: for after that He had said before,

16
Phonetic (Greek): Ahyte he diatheke hen diathesomai pros aytoys meta tas hemeras ekeinas, legei kyrios, didoys nomous mou epi kardias ayton, kai epi ⸂ten dianoian⸃ ayton epigrapso aytoys,
Edified Edition (EDE)"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord; I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;"

17
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀kai ton hamartion ayton kai ton anomion ayton oy me ⸀mnesthesomai eti·
Edified Edition (EDE)And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

18
Phonetic (Greek): hopou de aphesis toyton, oyketi prosphora peri hamartias.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

19
Phonetic (Greek): Ἔchontes oyn, adelphoi, parresian eis ten eisodon ton hagion en tῷ ahimati Ἰesoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20
Phonetic (Greek): hen enekainisen hemin hodon prosphaton kai zosan dia toy katapetasmatos, toytʼ estin tes sarkos aytoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)By a new and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh;

21
Phonetic (Greek): kai hierea megan epi ton oikon toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)And having an high priest over the house of God;

22
Phonetic (Greek): proserchometha meta alethines kardias en plerophoriᾳ pisteos, ῥerantismenoi tas kardias apo syneideseos poneras kai lelousmenoi to soma hydati katharῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23
Phonetic (Greek): katechomen ten homologian tes elpidos akline, pistos gar ho epangeilamenos·
Edified Edition (EDE)Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful who promised;)

24
Phonetic (Greek): kai katanoomen allelous eis paroxysmon agapes kai kalon ergon,
Edified Edition (EDE)And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works:

25
Phonetic (Greek): me enkataleipontes ten episynagogen heauton, kathos ethos tisin, alla parakaloyntes, kai tosoytῳ mallon hosῳ blepete engizousan ten hemeran.
Edified Edition (EDE)Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.

26
Phonetic (Greek): Ἑkousios gar hamartanonton hemon meta to labein ten epignosin tes aletheias, oyketi peri hamartion apoleipetai thysia,
Edified Edition (EDE)For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

27
Phonetic (Greek): phobera de tis ekdoche kriseos kai pyros zelos esthiein mellontos toys hypenantious.
Edified Edition (EDE)But a certain fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28
Phonetic (Greek): athetesas tis nomon Moyseos choris oiktirmon epi dysin e trisin martysin apothnῄskei·
Edified Edition (EDE)He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29
Phonetic (Greek): posῳ dokeite cheironos axiothesetai timorias ho ton yhion toy theoy katapatesas, kai to ahima tes diathekes koinon hegesamenos en ho hegiasthe, kai to pneyma tes charitos enybrisas.
Edified Edition (EDE)Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

30
Phonetic (Greek): oidamen gar ton eiponta· Ἐmoi ekdikesis, ego ⸀antapodoso· kai palin· ⸂Krinei kyrios⸃ ton laon aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)For we know Him that has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will recompense," says the Lord. And again, "The Lord shall judge His people."

31
Phonetic (Greek): phoberon to empesein eis cheiras theoy zontos.
Edified Edition (EDE)It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀnamimnῄskesthe de tas proteron hemeras, en ahis photisthentes pollen athlesin hypemeinate pathematon,
Edified Edition (EDE)But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great fight of afflictions;

33
Phonetic (Greek): toyto men oneidismois te kai thlipsesin theatrizomenoi, toyto de koinonoi ton ohytos anastrephomenon genethentes·
Edified Edition (EDE)Partly, while you were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, while you became companions of those who were so used.

34
Phonetic (Greek): kai gar tois ⸀desmiois synepathesate, kai ten harpagen ton hyparchonton hymon meta charas prosedexasthe, ginoskontes echein ⸀heautoys kreittona ⸀hyparxin kai menousan.
Edified Edition (EDE)For you had compassion on me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

35
Phonetic (Greek): me apobalete oyn ten parresian hymon, hetis echei ⸂megalen misthapodosian⸃,
Edified Edition (EDE)Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompence of reward.

36
Phonetic (Greek): hypomones gar echete chreian hina to thelema toy theoy poiesantes komisesthe ten epangelian·
Edified Edition (EDE)For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise.

37
Phonetic (Greek): eti gar mikron hoson hoson, ho erchomenos hexei kai oy chronisei·
Edified Edition (EDE)For yet a little while, and He who shall come will come, and will not tarry.

38
Phonetic (Greek): ho de dikaios ⸀mou ek pisteos zesetai, kai ean hyposteiletai, oyk eydokei he psyche mou en aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now the just shall live by faith: but if any person draws back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him.

39
Phonetic (Greek): hemeis de oyk esmen hypostoles eis apoleian, alla pisteos eis peripoiesin psyches.
Edified Edition (EDE)But we are not of those who draw back to perdition; but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
