Hebrews

Chapter 9
1
Phonetic (Greek): Eiche men ⸀oyn he prote dikaiomata latreias to te hagion kosmikon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then truly the first covenant also had ordinances of divine service and a worldly sanctuary.

2
Phonetic (Greek): skene gar kateskeuasthe he prote en he he te lychnia kai he trapeza kai he prothesis ton arton, hetis legetai Ἅgia·
Edified Edition (EDE)For there was a tabernacle made; the first, where was the lampstand, and the table, and the showbread; which is called the sanctuary.

3
Phonetic (Greek): meta de to deyteron katapetasma skene he legomene ⸂Ἅgia Ἁgion⸃,
Edified Edition (EDE)And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;

4
Phonetic (Greek): chrysoyn echousa thymiaterion kai ten kiboton tes diathekes perikekalymmenen pantothen chrysiῳ, en he stamnos chryse echousa to manna kai he ῥabdos Ἀaron he blastesasa kai ahi plakes tes diathekes,
Edified Edition (EDE)Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

5
Phonetic (Greek): hyperano de aytes Cheroubin doxes kataskiazonta to hilasterion· peri hon oyk estin nyn legein kata meros.
Edified Edition (EDE)And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

6
Phonetic (Greek): Toyton de ohytos kateskeuasmenon, eis men ten proten skenen dia pantos eisiasin ohi hiereis tas latreias epiteloyntes,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

7
Phonetic (Greek): eis de ten deuteran hapax toy eniautoy monos ho archiereys, oy choris ahimatos, ho prospherei hyper heautoy kai ton toy laoy agnoematon,
Edified Edition (EDE)But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

8
Phonetic (Greek): toyto deloyntos toy pneymatos toy hagiou, mepo pephanerosthai ten ton hagion hodon eti tes protes skenes echoyses stasin,
Edified Edition (EDE)The Holy Spirit thus signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

9
Phonetic (Greek): hetis parabole eis ton kairon ton enestekota, kathʼ ⸀hen dora te kai thysiai prospherontai me dynamenai kata syneidesin teleiosai ton latreyonta,
Edified Edition (EDE)Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him who did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

10
Phonetic (Greek): monon epi bromasin kai pomasin kai diaphorois baptismois, ⸀dikaiomata sarkos mechri kairoy diorthoseos epikeimena.
Edified Edition (EDE)Which stood only in foods and drinks, and various washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

11
Phonetic (Greek): Christos de paragenomenos archiereys ton ⸀genomenon agathon dia tes meizonos kai teleioteras skenes oy cheiropoietou, toytʼ estin oy taytes tes ktiseos,
Edified Edition (EDE)But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

12
Phonetic (Greek): oyde diʼ ahimatos tragon kai moschon dia de toy idiou ahimatos, eiselthen ephapax eis ta hagia, aionian lytrosin ehyramenos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

13
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar to ahima ⸂tragon kai tayron⸃ kai spodos damaleos ῥantizousa toys kekoinomenous hagiazei pros ten tes sarkos katharoteta,
Edified Edition (EDE)For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh:

14
Phonetic (Greek): posῳ mallon to ahima toy Christoy, hos dia pneymatos aioniou heauton prosenenken amomon tῷ theῷ, kathariei ten syneidesin ⸀hemon apo nekron ergon eis to latreyein theῷ zonti.
Edified Edition (EDE)How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

15
Phonetic (Greek): Kai dia toyto diathekes kaines mesites estin, hopos thanatou genomenou eis apolytrosin ton epi tῇ protῃ diathekῃ parabaseon ten epangelian labosin ohi keklemenoi tes aioniou kleronomias.
Edified Edition (EDE)And for this cause He is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, those who are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

16
Phonetic (Greek): hopou gar diatheke, thanaton ananke pheresthai toy diathemenou·
Edified Edition (EDE)For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

17
Phonetic (Greek): diatheke gar epi nekrois bebaia, epei ⸀mepote ischyei hote zῇ ho diathemenos.
Edified Edition (EDE)For a testament is of force after people are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator lives.

18
Phonetic (Greek): hothen oyde he prote choris ahimatos enkekainistai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

19
Phonetic (Greek): laletheises gar pases entoles kata ⸀ton nomon hypo Moyseos panti tῷ laῷ, labon to ahima ton ⸀moschon meta hydatos kai eriou kokkinou kai hyssopou ayto te to biblion kai panta ton laon erantisen,
Edified Edition (EDE)For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

20
Phonetic (Greek): legon· Toyto to ahima tes diathekes hes eneteilato pros hymas ho theos·
Edified Edition (EDE)Saying, "This is the blood of the testament which God has enjoined to you."

21
Phonetic (Greek): kai ten skenen de kai panta ta skeye tes leitourgias tῷ ahimati homoios erantisen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

22
Phonetic (Greek): kai schedon en ahimati panta katharizetai kata ton nomon, kai choris ahimatekchysias oy ginetai aphesis.
Edified Edition (EDE)And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

23
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀnanke oyn ta men hypodeigmata ton en tois oyranois toytois katharizesthai, ayta de ta epourania kreittosi thysiais para taytas.
Edified Edition (EDE)It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

24
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar eis cheiropoieta ⸂eiselthen hagia⸃ Christos, antitypa ton alethinon, allʼ eis ayton ton oyranon, nyn emphanisthenai tῷ prosopῳ toy theoy hyper hemon·
Edified Edition (EDE)For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

25
Phonetic (Greek): oydʼ hina pollakis prospherῃ heauton, hosper ho archiereys eiserchetai eis ta hagia katʼ eniauton en ahimati allotriῳ,
Edified Edition (EDE)Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place every year with blood of others;

26
Phonetic (Greek): epei edei ayton pollakis pathein apo kataboles kosmou· ⸀nyni de hapax epi synteleiᾳ ton aionon eis athetesin ⸀hamartias dia tes thysias aytoy pephanerotai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world has He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

27
Phonetic (Greek): kai kathʼ hoson apokeitai tois anthropois hapax apothanein, meta de toyto krisis,
Edified Edition (EDE)And as it is appointed to people once to die, but after this the judgement:

28
Phonetic (Greek): ohytos kai ho Christos, hapax prosenechtheis eis to pollon anenenkein hamartias, ek deuterou choris hamartias ophthesetai tois ayton apekdechomenois eis soterian.
Edified Edition (EDE)So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and to those who look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin to salvation.
