1
Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ oyn Ἰesoys pro hex hemeron toy pascha elthen eis Bethanian, hopou en ⸀Lazaros, hon egeiren ek nekron ⸀Ἰesoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.

2
Phonetic (Greek): epoiesan oyn aytῷ deipnon ekei, kai he Martha diekonei, ho de Lazaros ehis en ⸀ek ton anakeimenon syn aytῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.

3
Phonetic (Greek): he oyn ⸀Mariam laboysa litran myrou nardou pistikes polytimou eleipsen toys podas toy Ἰesoy kai exemaxen tais thrixin aytes toys podas aytoy· he de oikia eplerothe ek tes osmes toy myrou.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of pure nard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.

4
Phonetic (Greek): legei ⸀de ⸂Ἰoydas ho Ἰskariotes ehis ton matheton aytoy⸃, ho mellon ayton paradidonai·
Edified Edition (EDE)But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,

5
Phonetic (Greek): Dia ti toyto to myron oyk eprathe triakosion denarion kai edothe ptochois;
Edified Edition (EDE)"Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"

Διὰ τί τοῦτο τὸ μύρον οὐκ ἐπράθη τριακοσίων δηναρίων καὶ ἐδόθη πτωχοῖς;

6
Phonetic (Greek): eipen de toyto oych hoti peri ton ptochon emelen aytῷ, allʼ hoti kleptes en kai to glossokomon ⸀echon ta ballomena ebastazen.
Edified Edition (EDE)This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

7
Phonetic (Greek): eipen oyn ho Ἰesoys· Ἄphes ayten, ⸀hina eis ten hemeran toy entaphiasmoy mou ⸀teresῃ ayto·
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus said, [JESUS]"Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial."[/JESUS]

8
Phonetic (Greek): toys ptochoys gar pantote echete methʼ heauton, eme de oy pantote echete.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always."[/JESUS]

9
Phonetic (Greek): Ἔgno ⸀oyn ochlos polys ek ton Ἰoudaion hoti ekei estin, kai elthon oy dia ton Ἰesoyn monon, allʼ hina kai ton Lazaron idosin hon egeiren ek nekron.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

10
Phonetic (Greek): ebouleysanto de ohi archiereis hina kai ton Lazaron apokteinosin,
Edified Edition (EDE)But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also,

11
Phonetic (Greek): hoti polloi diʼ ayton hypegon ton Ἰoudaion kai episteuon eis ton Ἰesoyn.
Edified Edition (EDE)because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Tῇ epayrion ⸀ho ochlos polys ho elthon eis ten heorten, akoysantes hoti erchetai ⸁ho Ἰesoys eis Ἱerosolyma,
Edified Edition (EDE)The next day a great crowd that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13

Edified Edition (EDE)took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! The King of Israel!"

14
Phonetic (Greek): ehyron de ho Ἰesoys onarion ekathisen epʼ ayto, kathos estin gegrammenon·

15

Edified Edition (EDE)His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

17
Phonetic (Greek): emartyrei oyn ho ochlos ho on metʼ aytoy hote ton Lazaron ephonesen ek toy mnemeiou kai egeiren ayton ek nekron.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore the crowd, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness.

18
Phonetic (Greek): dia toyto ⸀kai hypentesen aytῷ ho ochlos hoti ⸀ekousan toyto ayton pepoiekenai to semeion.
Edified Edition (EDE)For this reason the crowd also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign.

20
