Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble."[/JESUS]

Ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα μὴ σκανδαλισθῆτε.

Phonetic (Greek): aposynagogous poiesousin hymas· allʼ erchetai hora hina pas ho apokteinas hymas doxῃ latreian prospherein tῷ theῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the hour is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service."[/JESUS]

ἀποσυναγώγους ποιήσουσιν ὑμᾶς· ἀλλʼ ἔρχεται ὥρα ἵνα πᾶς ὁ ἀποκτείνας ὑμᾶς δόξῃ λατρείαν προσφέρειν τῷ θεῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai tayta poiesousin hoti oyk egnosan ton patera oyde eme.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me."[/JESUS]

καὶ ταῦτα ποιήσουσιν ὅτι οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὸν πατέρα οὐδὲ ἐμέ.

Phonetic (Greek): alla tayta lelaleka hymin hina hotan elthῃ he hora ⸀ayton mnemoneyete ⸁ayton hoti ego eipon hymin. Tayta de hymin ex arches oyk eipon, hoti methʼ hymon emen.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But these things I have told you, that when the hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you."[/JESUS]

ἀλλὰ ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἡ ὥρα ⸀αὐτῶν μνημονεύητε ⸁αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐγὼ εἶπον ὑμῖν. Ταῦτα δὲ ὑμῖν ἐξ ἀρχῆς οὐκ εἶπον, ὅτι μεθʼ ὑμῶν ἤμην.

Phonetic (Greek): nyn de hypago pros ton pempsanta me kai oydeis ex hymon erotᾷ me· Poy hypageis;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'"[/JESUS]

νῦν δὲ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐρωτᾷ με· Ποῦ ὑπάγεις;

Phonetic (Greek): allʼ hoti tayta lelaleka hymin he lype pepleroken hymon ten kardian.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart."[/JESUS]

ἀλλʼ ὅτι ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἡ λύπη πεπλήρωκεν ὑμῶν τὴν καρδίαν.

Phonetic (Greek): allʼ ego ten aletheian lego hymin, sympherei hymin hina ego apeltho. ean ⸀gar me apeltho, ho parakletos ⸂oy me elthῃ⸃ pros hymas· ean de poreutho, pempso ayton pros hymas.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you."[/JESUS]

ἀλλʼ ἐγὼ τὴν ἀλήθειαν λέγω ὑμῖν, συμφέρει ὑμῖν ἵνα ἐγὼ ἀπέλθω. ἐὰν ⸀γὰρ μὴ ἀπέλθω, ὁ παράκλητος ⸂οὐ μὴ ἔλθῃ⸃ πρὸς ὑμᾶς· ἐὰν δὲ πορευθῶ, πέμψω αὐτὸν πρὸς ὑμᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai elthon ekeinos elenxei ton kosmon peri hamartias kai peri dikaiosynes kai peri kriseos·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement:"[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐκεῖνος ἐλέγξει τὸν κόσμον περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ περὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ περὶ κρίσεως·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"of sin, because they do not believe in Me;"[/JESUS]

περὶ ἁμαρτίας μέν, ὅτι οὐ πιστεύουσιν εἰς ἐμέ·

Phonetic (Greek): peri dikaiosynes de, hoti pros ton ⸀patera hypago kai oyketi theoreite me·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;"[/JESUS]

περὶ δικαιοσύνης δέ, ὅτι πρὸς τὸν ⸀πατέρα ὑπάγω καὶ οὐκέτι θεωρεῖτέ με·

Phonetic (Greek): peri de kriseos, hoti ho archon toy kosmou toytou kekritai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"of judgement, because the ruler of this world is judged."[/JESUS]

περὶ δὲ κρίσεως, ὅτι ὁ ἄρχων τοῦ κόσμου τούτου κέκριται.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἔti polla echo ⸂hymin legein⸃, allʼ oy dynasthe bastazein arti·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now."[/JESUS]

Ἔτι πολλὰ ἔχω ⸂ὑμῖν λέγειν⸃, ἀλλʼ οὐ δύνασθε βαστάζειν ἄρτι·

Phonetic (Greek): hotan de elthῃ ekeinos, to pneyma tes aletheias, hodegesei hymas ⸂en tῇ aletheiᾳ pasῃ⸃, oy gar lalesei aphʼ heautoy, allʼ hosa ⸀akoysei lalesei, kai ta erchomena anangelei hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."[/JESUS]

ὅταν δὲ ἔλθῃ ἐκεῖνος, τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας, ὁδηγήσει ὑμᾶς ⸂ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ πάσῃ⸃, οὐ γὰρ λαλήσει ἀφʼ ἑαυτοῦ, ἀλλʼ ὅσα ⸀ἀκούσει λαλήσει, καὶ τὰ ἐρχόμενα ἀναγγελεῖ ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): ekeinos eme doxasei, hoti ek toy emoy lempsetai kai anangelei hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you."[/JESUS]

ἐκεῖνος ἐμὲ δοξάσει, ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ ἐμοῦ λήμψεται καὶ ἀναγγελεῖ ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): panta hosa echei ho pater ema estin· dia toyto eipon hoti ek toy emoy lambanei kai anangelei hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you."[/JESUS]

πάντα ὅσα ἔχει ὁ πατὴρ ἐμά ἐστιν· διὰ τοῦτο εἶπον ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ ἐμοῦ λαμβάνει καὶ ἀναγγελεῖ ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): Mikron kai ⸀oyketi theoreite me, kai palin mikron kai opsesthe ⸀me.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father."[/JESUS]

Μικρὸν καὶ ⸀οὐκέτι θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ ⸀με.

Phonetic (Greek): eipan oyn ek ton matheton aytoy pros allelous· Ti estin toyto ho legei hemin· Mikron kai oy theoreite me, kai palin mikron kai opsesthe me; kai· ⸀Ὅti hypago pros ton patera;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then some of His disciples said among themselves, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"

εἶπαν οὖν ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους· Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει ἡμῖν· Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με; καί· ⸀Ὅτι ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα;

Phonetic (Greek): elegon oyn· ⸂Ti estin toyto⸃ ho ⸀legei mikron; oyk oidamen ti lalei.
Edified Edition (EDE)They said therefore, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We do not know what He is saying."

ἔλεγον οὖν· ⸂Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο⸃ ὃ ⸀λέγει μικρόν; οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί λαλεῖ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀egno Ἰesoys hoti ethelon ayton erotan, kai eipen aytois· Peri toytou zeteite metʼ allelon hoti eipon· Mikron kai oy theoreite me, kai palin mikron kai opsesthe me;
Edified Edition (EDE)Now Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and He said to them, [JESUS]"Are you inquiring among yourselves about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'?"[/JESUS]

⸀ἔγνω Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤθελον αὐτὸν ἐρωτᾶν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Περὶ τούτου ζητεῖτε μετʼ ἀλλήλων ὅτι εἶπον· Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με;

Phonetic (Greek): amen amen lego hymin hoti klaysete kai threnesete hymeis, ho de kosmos charesetai· ⸀hymeis lypethesesthe, allʼ he lype hymon eis charan genesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Most certainly, I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy."[/JESUS]

ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι κλαύσετε καὶ θρηνήσετε ὑμεῖς, ὁ δὲ κόσμος χαρήσεται· ⸀ὑμεῖς λυπηθήσεσθε, ἀλλʼ ἡ λύπη ὑμῶν εἰς χαρὰν γενήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): he gyne hotan tiktῃ lypen echei, hoti elthen he hora aytes· hotan de gennesῃ to paidion, oyketi mnemoneyei tes thlipseos dia ten charan hoti egennethe anthropos eis ton kosmon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"A woman, when she is in labour, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world."[/JESUS]

ἡ γυνὴ ὅταν τίκτῃ λύπην ἔχει, ὅτι ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα αὐτῆς· ὅταν δὲ γεννήσῃ τὸ παιδίον, οὐκέτι μνημονεύει τῆς θλίψεως διὰ τὴν χαρὰν ὅτι ἐγεννήθη ἄνθρωπος εἰς τὸν κόσμον.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hymeis oyn ⸂nyn men lypen⸃ echete· palin de opsomai hymas, kai charesetai hymon he kardia, kai ten charan hymon oydeis ⸀airei aphʼ hymon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὑμεῖς οὖν ⸂νῦν μὲν λύπην⸃ ἔχετε· πάλιν δὲ ὄψομαι ὑμᾶς, καὶ χαρήσεται ὑμῶν ἡ καρδία, καὶ τὴν χαρὰν ὑμῶν οὐδεὶς ⸀αἴρει ἀφʼ ὑμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai en ekeinῃ tῇ hemerᾳ eme oyk erotesete oyden· amen amen lego hymin, ⸂an ti⸃ aitesete ton patera ⸂dosei hymin en tῷ onomati mou⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most certainly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἐρωτήσετε οὐδέν· ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ⸂ἄν τι⸃ αἰτήσητε τὸν πατέρα ⸂δώσει ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου⸃.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."[/JESUS]

ἕως ἄρτι οὐκ ᾐτήσατε οὐδὲν ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου· αἰτεῖτε καὶ λήμψεσθε, ἵνα ἡ χαρὰ ὑμῶν ᾖ πεπληρωμένη.

Phonetic (Greek): Tayta en paroimiais lelaleka hymin· ⸀erchetai hora hote oyketi en paroimiais laleso hymin alla parresiᾳ peri toy patros ⸀apangelo hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father."[/JESUS]

Ταῦτα ἐν παροιμίαις λελάληκα ὑμῖν· ⸀ἔρχεται ὥρα ὅτε οὐκέτι ἐν παροιμίαις λαλήσω ὑμῖν ἀλλὰ παρρησίᾳ περὶ τοῦ πατρὸς ⸀ἀπαγγελῶ ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): en ekeinῃ tῇ hemerᾳ en tῷ onomati mou aitesesthe, kai oy lego hymin hoti ego eroteso ton patera peri hymon·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;"[/JESUS]

ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου αἰτήσεσθε, καὶ οὐ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐρωτήσω τὸν πατέρα περὶ ὑμῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): aytos gar ho pater philei hymas, hoti hymeis eme pephilekate kai pepisteykate hoti ego para toy ⸀theoy exelthon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God."[/JESUS]

αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ φιλεῖ ὑμᾶς, ὅτι ὑμεῖς ἐμὲ πεφιλήκατε καὶ πεπιστεύκατε ὅτι ἐγὼ παρὰ τοῦ ⸀θεοῦ ἐξῆλθον.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father."[/JESUS]

ἐξῆλθον ⸀ἐκ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ ἐλήλυθα εἰς τὸν κόσμον· πάλιν ἀφίημι τὸν κόσμον καὶ πορεύομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Legousin ohi mathetai aytoy· Ἴde nyn ⸀en parresiᾳ laleis, kai paroimian oydemian legeis.
Edified Edition (EDE)His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!"

⸀Λέγουσιν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· Ἴδε νῦν ⸀ἐν παρρησίᾳ λαλεῖς, καὶ παροιμίαν οὐδεμίαν λέγεις.

Phonetic (Greek): nyn oidamen hoti oidas panta kai oy chreian echeis hina tis se erotᾷ· en toytῳ pisteyomen hoti apo theoy exelthes.
Edified Edition (EDE)"Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God."

νῦν οἴδαμεν ὅτι οἶδας πάντα καὶ οὐ χρείαν ἔχεις ἵνα τίς σε ἐρωτᾷ· ἐν τούτῳ πιστεύομεν ὅτι ἀπὸ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθες.

Phonetic (Greek): apekrithe ⸀aytois Ἰesoys· Ἄrti pisteyete;
Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus answered them, [JESUS]"Do you now believe?"[/JESUS]

ἀπεκρίθη ⸀αὐτοῖς Ἰησοῦς· Ἄρτι πιστεύετε;

Phonetic (Greek): idoy erchetai hora ⸀kai elelythen hina skorpisthete hekastos eis ta idia kame monon aphete· kai oyk eimi monos, hoti ho pater metʼ emoy estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me."[/JESUS]

ἰδοὺ ἔρχεται ὥρα ⸀καὶ ἐλήλυθεν ἵνα σκορπισθῆτε ἕκαστος εἰς τὰ ἴδια κἀμὲ μόνον ἀφῆτε· καὶ οὐκ εἰμὶ μόνος, ὅτι ὁ πατὴρ μετʼ ἐμοῦ ἐστιν.

Phonetic (Greek): tayta lelaleka hymin hina en emoi eirenen echete· en tῷ kosmῳ thlipsin echete, alla tharseite, ego nenikeka ton kosmon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but take courage, I have overcome the world."[/JESUS]

ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα ἐν ἐμοὶ εἰρήνην ἔχητε· ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ θλῖψιν ἔχετε, ἀλλὰ θαρσεῖτε, ἐγὼ νενίκηκα τὸν κόσμον.
