Chapter 17

Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: [JESUS]"Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,"[/JESUS]

Ταῦτα ⸀ἐλάλησεν Ἰησοῦς, καὶ ⸂ἐπάρας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εἶπεν⸃· Πάτερ, ἐλήλυθεν ἡ ὥρα· δόξασόν σου τὸν υἱόν, ⸀ἵνα ὁ ⸀υἱὸς δοξάσῃ σέ,

Phonetic (Greek): kathos edokas aytῷ exousian pases sarkos, hina pan ho dedokas aytῷ ⸀dosῃ aytois zoen aionion.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him."[/JESUS]

καθὼς ἔδωκας αὐτῷ ἐξουσίαν πάσης σαρκός, ἵνα πᾶν ὃ δέδωκας αὐτῷ ⸀δώσῃ αὐτοῖς ζωὴν αἰώνιον.

Phonetic (Greek): ahyte de estin he aionios zoe hina ginoskosi se ton monon alethinon theon kai hon apesteilas Ἰesoyn Christon.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."[/JESUS]

αὕτη δέ ἐστιν ἡ αἰώνιος ζωὴ ἵνα γινώσκωσι σὲ τὸν μόνον ἀληθινὸν θεὸν καὶ ὃν ἀπέστειλας Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν.

Phonetic (Greek): ego se edoxasa epi tes ges, to ergon ⸀teleiosas ho dedokas moi hina poieso·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do."[/JESUS]

ἐγώ σε ἐδόξασα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, τὸ ἔργον ⸀τελειώσας ὃ δέδωκάς μοι ἵνα ποιήσω·

Phonetic (Greek): kai nyn doxason me sy, pater, para seautῷ tῇ doxῃ he eichon pro toy ton kosmon einai para soi.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was."[/JESUS]

καὶ νῦν δόξασόν με σύ, πάτερ, παρὰ σεαυτῷ τῇ δόξῃ ᾗ εἶχον πρὸ τοῦ τὸν κόσμον εἶναι παρὰ σοί.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐphanerosa sou to onoma tois anthropois ohys ⸀edokas moi ek toy kosmou. soi esan kamoi aytoys ⸁edokas, kai ton logon sou teterekan.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word."[/JESUS]

Ἐφανέρωσά σου τὸ ὄνομα τοῖς ἀνθρώποις οὓς ⸀ἔδωκάς μοι ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου. σοὶ ἦσαν κἀμοὶ αὐτοὺς ⸁ἔδωκας, καὶ τὸν λόγον σου τετήρηκαν.

Phonetic (Greek): nyn egnokan hoti panta hosa ⸀dedokas moi para soy ⸀eisin·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You."[/JESUS]

νῦν ἔγνωκαν ὅτι πάντα ὅσα ⸀δέδωκάς μοι παρὰ σοῦ ⸀εἰσιν·

Phonetic (Greek): hoti ta ῥemata ha ⸀edokas moi dedoka aytois, kai aytoi elabon kai egnosan alethos hoti para soy exelthon, kai episteusan hoti sy me apesteilas.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me."[/JESUS]

ὅτι τὰ ῥήματα ἃ ⸀ἔδωκάς μοι δέδωκα αὐτοῖς, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἔλαβον καὶ ἔγνωσαν ἀληθῶς ὅτι παρὰ σοῦ ἐξῆλθον, καὶ ἐπίστευσαν ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας.

Phonetic (Greek): ego peri ayton eroto· oy peri toy kosmou eroto alla peri hon dedokas moi, hoti soi eisin,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours."[/JESUS]

ἐγὼ περὶ αὐτῶν ἐρωτῶ· οὐ περὶ τοῦ κόσμου ἐρωτῶ ἀλλὰ περὶ ὧν δέδωκάς μοι, ὅτι σοί εἰσιν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai ta ema panta sa estin kai ta sa ema, kai dedoxasmai en aytois.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them."[/JESUS]

καὶ τὰ ἐμὰ πάντα σά ἐστιν καὶ τὰ σὰ ἐμά, καὶ δεδόξασμαι ἐν αὐτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai oyketi eimi en tῷ kosmῳ, kai ⸀aytoi en tῷ kosmῳ eisin, kago pros se erchomai. pater hagie, tereson aytoys en tῷ onomati sou ho dedokas moi, hina osin hen ⸀kathos hemeis.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are."[/JESUS]

καὶ οὐκέτι εἰμὶ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ, καὶ ⸀αὐτοὶ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ εἰσίν, κἀγὼ πρὸς σὲ ἔρχομαι. πάτερ ἅγιε, τήρησον αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ᾧ δέδωκάς μοι, ἵνα ὦσιν ἓν ⸀καθὼς ἡμεῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): hote emen metʼ ⸀ayton ego eteroun aytoys en tῷ onomati sou ⸀ho dedokas moi, ⸀kai ephylaxa, kai oydeis ex ayton apoleto ei me ho yhios tes apoleias, hina he graphe plerothῇ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled."[/JESUS]

ὅτε ἤμην μετʼ ⸀αὐτῶν ἐγὼ ἐτήρουν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ⸀ᾧ δέδωκάς μοι, ⸀καὶ ἐφύλαξα, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀπώλετο εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας, ἵνα ἡ γραφὴ πληρωθῇ.

Phonetic (Greek): nyn de pros se erchomai, kai tayta lalo en tῷ kosmῳ hina echosin ten charan ten emen pepleromenen en ⸀heautois.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves."[/JESUS]

νῦν δὲ πρὸς σὲ ἔρχομαι, καὶ ταῦτα λαλῶ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ἵνα ἔχωσιν τὴν χαρὰν τὴν ἐμὴν πεπληρωμένην ἐν ⸀ἑαυτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): ego dedoka aytois ton logon sou, kai ho kosmos emisesen aytoys, hoti oyk eisin ek toy kosmou kathos ego oyk eimi ek toy kosmou.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."[/JESUS]

ἐγὼ δέδωκα αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον σου, καὶ ὁ κόσμος ἐμίσησεν αὐτούς, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶν ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου καθὼς ἐγὼ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου.

Phonetic (Greek): oyk eroto hina arῃs aytoys ek toy kosmou allʼ hina teresῃs aytoys ek toy poneroy.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one."[/JESUS]

οὐκ ἐρωτῶ ἵνα ἄρῃς αὐτοὺς ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου ἀλλʼ ἵνα τηρήσῃς αὐτοὺς ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): ek toy kosmou oyk eisin kathos ego ⸂oyk eimi ek toy kosmou⸃.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."[/JESUS]

ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου οὐκ εἰσὶν καθὼς ἐγὼ ⸂οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): hagiason aytoys en tῇ ⸀aletheiᾳ· ho logos ho sos aletheia estin.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth."[/JESUS]

ἁγίασον αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ⸀ἀληθείᾳ· ὁ λόγος ὁ σὸς ἀλήθειά ἐστιν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world."[/JESUS]

καθὼς ἐμὲ ἀπέστειλας εἰς τὸν κόσμον, κἀγὼ ἀπέστειλα αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν κόσμον·

Phonetic (Greek): kai hyper ayton ego hagiazo emauton, hina ⸂osin kai aytoi⸃ hegiasmenoi en aletheiᾳ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν ἐγὼ ἁγιάζω ἐμαυτόν, ἵνα ⸂ὦσιν καὶ αὐτοὶ⸃ ἡγιασμένοι ἐν ἀληθείᾳ.

Phonetic (Greek): Oy peri toyton de eroto monon, alla kai peri ton pisteuonton dia toy logou ayton eis eme,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;"[/JESUS]

Οὐ περὶ τούτων δὲ ἐρωτῶ μόνον, ἀλλὰ καὶ περὶ τῶν πιστευόντων διὰ τοῦ λόγου αὐτῶν εἰς ἐμέ,

Phonetic (Greek): hina pantes hen osin, kathos sy, ⸀pater, en emoi kago en soi, hina kai aytoi en ⸀hemin osin, hina ho kosmos ⸀pisteyῃ hoti sy me apesteilas.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me."[/JESUS]

ἵνα πάντες ἓν ὦσιν, καθὼς σύ, ⸀πάτερ, ἐν ἐμοὶ κἀγὼ ἐν σοί, ἵνα καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐν ⸀ἡμῖν ὦσιν, ἵνα ὁ κόσμος ⸀πιστεύῃ ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας.

Phonetic (Greek): kago ten doxan hen dedokas moi dedoka aytois, hina osin hen kathos hemeis ⸀hen,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:"[/JESUS]

κἀγὼ τὴν δόξαν ἣν δέδωκάς μοι δέδωκα αὐτοῖς, ἵνα ὦσιν ἓν καθὼς ἡμεῖς ⸀ἕν,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."[/JESUS]

ἐγὼ ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ σὺ ἐν ἐμοί, ἵνα ὦσιν τετελειωμένοι εἰς ἕν, ⸀ἵνα γινώσκῃ ὁ κόσμος ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας καὶ ἠγάπησας αὐτοὺς καθὼς ἐμὲ ἠγάπησας.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀pater, ⸀ho dedokas moi, thelo hina hopou eimi ego kakeinoi osin metʼ emoy, hina theorosin ten doxan ten emen hen ⸀dedokas moi, hoti egapesas me pro kataboles kosmou.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world."[/JESUS]

⸀πάτερ, ⸀ὃ δέδωκάς μοι, θέλω ἵνα ὅπου εἰμὶ ἐγὼ κἀκεῖνοι ὦσιν μετʼ ἐμοῦ, ἵνα θεωρῶσιν τὴν δόξαν τὴν ἐμὴν ἣν ⸀δέδωκάς μοι, ὅτι ἠγάπησάς με πρὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Pater dikaie, kai ho kosmos se oyk egno, ego de se egnon, kai ohytoi egnosan hoti sy me apesteilas,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me."[/JESUS]

⸀Πάτερ δίκαιε, καὶ ὁ κόσμος σε οὐκ ἔγνω, ἐγὼ δέ σε ἔγνων, καὶ οὗτοι ἔγνωσαν ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας,

Phonetic (Greek): kai egnorisa aytois to onoma sou kai gnoriso, hina he agape hen egapesas me en aytois e kago en aytois.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐγνώρισα αὐτοῖς τὸ ὄνομά σου καὶ γνωρίσω, ἵνα ἡ ἀγάπη ἣν ἠγάπησάς με ἐν αὐτοῖς ᾖ κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτοῖς.
