Chapter 12

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐn ohis episynachtheison ton myriadon toy ochlou, hoste katapatein allelous, erxato legein pros toys mathetas aytoy proton· Prosechete heautois apo tes zymes, ⸂hetis estin hypokrisis, ton Pharisaion⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all: [JESUS]"Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy."[/JESUS]

Ἐν οἷς ἐπισυναχθεισῶν τῶν μυριάδων τοῦ ὄχλου, ὥστε καταπατεῖν ἀλλήλους, ἤρξατο λέγειν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ πρῶτον· Προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης, ⸂ἥτις ἐστὶν ὑπόκρισις, τῶν Φαρισαίων⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): oyden de synkekalymmenon estin ho oyk apokalyphthesetai, kai krypton ho oy gnosthesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

οὐδὲν δὲ συγκεκαλυμμένον ἐστὶν ὃ οὐκ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται, καὶ κρυπτὸν ὃ οὐ γνωσθήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): anthʼ hon hosa en tῇ skotiᾳ eipate en tῷ photi akousthesetai, kai ho pros to oys elalesate en tois tameiois kerychthesetai epi ton domaton.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore whatever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

ἀνθʼ ὧν ὅσα ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ εἴπατε ἐν τῷ φωτὶ ἀκουσθήσεται, καὶ ὃ πρὸς τὸ οὖς ἐλαλήσατε ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις κηρυχθήσεται ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων.

Phonetic (Greek): Lego de hymin tois philois mou, me phobethete apo ton apokteinonton to soma kai meta tayta me echonton perissoteron ti poiesai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do."[/JESUS]

Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν τοῖς φίλοις μου, μὴ φοβηθῆτε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποκτεινόντων τὸ σῶμα καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα μὴ ἐχόντων περισσότερόν τι ποιῆσαι.

Phonetic (Greek): hypodeixo de hymin tina phobethete· phobethete ton meta to apokteinai ⸂echonta exousian⸃ embalein eis ten geennan· nai, lego hymin, toyton phobethete.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!"[/JESUS]

ὑποδείξω δὲ ὑμῖν τίνα φοβηθῆτε· φοβήθητε τὸν μετὰ τὸ ἀποκτεῖναι ⸂ἔχοντα ἐξουσίαν⸃ ἐμβαλεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν· ναί, λέγω ὑμῖν, τοῦτον φοβήθητε.

Phonetic (Greek): oychi pente strouthia ⸀poloyntai assarion dyo; kai hen ex ayton oyk estin epilelesmenon enopion toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

οὐχὶ πέντε στρουθία ⸀πωλοῦνται ἀσσαρίων δύο; καὶ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπιλελησμένον ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): alla kai ahi triches tes kephales hymon pasai erithmentai· ⸀me phobeisthe· pollon strouthion diapherete.
Edified Edition (EDE)But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows.

ἀλλὰ καὶ αἱ τρίχες τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν πᾶσαι ἠρίθμηνται· ⸀μὴ φοβεῖσθε· πολλῶν στρουθίων διαφέρετε.

Phonetic (Greek): Lego de hymin, pas hos an ⸀homologesῃ en emoi emprosthen ton anthropon, kai ho yhios toy anthropou homologesei en aytῷ emprosthen ton angelon toy theoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)Also I say to you, whoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, πᾶς ὃς ἂν ⸀ὁμολογήσῃ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὁμολογήσει ἐν αὐτῷ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): ho de arnesamenos me enopion ton anthropon aparnethesetai enopion ton angelon toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

ὁ δὲ ἀρνησάμενός με ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἀπαρνηθήσεται ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai pas hos erei logon eis ton yhion toy anthropou, aphethesetai aytῷ tῷ de eis to hagion pneyma blasphemesanti oyk aphethesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven."[/JESUS]

καὶ πᾶς ὃς ἐρεῖ λόγον εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ τῷ δὲ εἰς τὸ ἅγιον πνεῦμα βλασφημήσαντι οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): hotan de ⸀eispherosin hymas epi tas synagogas kai tas archas kai tas exousias, me ⸀merimnesete pos ⸂e ti⸃ apologesesthe e ti eipete·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they bring you to the synagogues, and to magistrates, and powers, take you no thought how or what thing you shall answer, or what you shall say:

ὅταν δὲ ⸀εἰσφέρωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐπὶ τὰς συναγωγὰς καὶ τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰς ἐξουσίας, μὴ ⸀μεριμνήσητε πῶς ⸂ἢ τί⸃ ἀπολογήσησθε ἢ τί εἴπητε·

Phonetic (Greek): to gar hagion pneyma didaxei hymas en aytῇ tῇ horᾳ ha dei eipein.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.

τὸ γὰρ ἅγιον πνεῦμα διδάξει ὑμᾶς ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἃ δεῖ εἰπεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): Eipen de tis ⸂ek toy ochlou aytῷ⸃· Didaskale, eipe tῷ adelphῷ mou merisasthai metʼ emoy ten kleronomian.
Edified Edition (EDE)And one of the company said to him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

Εἶπεν δέ τις ⸂ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου αὐτῷ⸃· Διδάσκαλε, εἰπὲ τῷ ἀδελφῷ μου μερίσασθαι μετʼ ἐμοῦ τὴν κληρονομίαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen aytῷ· Ἄnthrope, tis me katestesen ⸀kriten e meristen ephʼ hymas;
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἄνθρωπε, τίς με κατέστησεν ⸀κριτὴν ἢ μεριστὴν ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς;

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de pros aytoys· Ὁrate kai phylassesthe apo ⸀pases pleonexias, hoti oyk en tῷ perisseyein tini he zoe ⸀aytoy estin ek ton hyparchonton ⸀aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He said to them, [JESUS]"Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."[/JESUS]

εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς· Ὁρᾶτε καὶ φυλάσσεσθε ἀπὸ ⸀πάσης πλεονεξίας, ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τῷ περισσεύειν τινὶ ἡ ζωὴ ⸀αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ἐκ τῶν ὑπαρχόντων ⸀αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de parabolen pros aytoys legon· Ἀnthropou tinos plousiou eyphoresen he chora.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: [JESUS]"The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully..."[/JESUS]

εἶπεν δὲ παραβολὴν πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων· Ἀνθρώπου τινὸς πλουσίου εὐφόρησεν ἡ χώρα.

Phonetic (Greek): kai dielogizeto en ⸀heautῷ legon· Ti poieso, hoti oyk echo poy synaxo toys karpoys mou;
Edified Edition (EDE)And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

καὶ διελογίζετο ἐν ⸀ἑαυτῷ λέγων· Τί ποιήσω, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχω ποῦ συνάξω τοὺς καρπούς μου;

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipen· Toyto poieso· kathelo mou tas apothekas kai meizonas oikodomeso, kai synaxo ekei panta ⸂ton siton⸃ kai ta agatha mou,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

καὶ εἶπεν· Τοῦτο ποιήσω· καθελῶ μου τὰς ἀποθήκας καὶ μείζονας οἰκοδομήσω, καὶ συνάξω ἐκεῖ πάντα ⸂τὸν σῖτον⸃ καὶ τὰ ἀγαθά μου,

Phonetic (Greek): kai ero tῇ psychῇ mou· Psyche, echeis polla agatha keimena eis ete polla· anapayou, phage, pie, eyphrainou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

καὶ ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου· Ψυχή, ἔχεις πολλὰ ἀγαθὰ κείμενα εἰς ἔτη πολλά· ἀναπαύου, φάγε, πίε, εὐφραίνου.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de aytῷ ho theos· ⸀Ἄphron, taytῃ tῇ nykti ten psychen sou ⸀apaitoysin apo soy· ha de hetoimasas, tini estai;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?'"[/JESUS]

εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεός· ⸀Ἄφρων, ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τὴν ψυχήν σου ⸀ἀπαιτοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ· ἃ δὲ ἡτοίμασας, τίνι ἔσται;

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos ho thesaurizon ⸀heautῷ kai me eis theon plouton.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."[/JESUS]

οὕτως ὁ θησαυρίζων ⸀ἑαυτῷ καὶ μὴ εἰς θεὸν πλουτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): Eipen de pros toys mathetas aytoy· Dia toyto ⸂lego hymin⸃, me merimnate tῇ ⸀psychῇ ti phagete, mede tῷ ⸀somati ti endysesthe.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He said to His disciples, [JESUS]"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on."[/JESUS]

Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ· Διὰ τοῦτο ⸂λέγω ὑμῖν⸃, μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ⸀ψυχῇ τί φάγητε, μηδὲ τῷ ⸀σώματι τί ἐνδύσησθε.

Phonetic (Greek): he ⸀gar psyche pleion estin tes trophes kai to soma toy endymatos.
Edified Edition (EDE)The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

ἡ ⸀γὰρ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστιν τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος.

Phonetic (Greek): katanoesate toys korakas hoti oy speirousin oyde therizousin, ohis oyk estin tameion oyde apotheke, kai ho theos trephei aytoys· posῳ mallon hymeis diapherete ton peteinon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are you better than the fowls?

κατανοήσατε τοὺς κόρακας ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν, οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ταμεῖον οὐδὲ ἀποθήκη, καὶ ὁ θεὸς τρέφει αὐτούς· πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμεῖς διαφέρετε τῶν πετεινῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): tis de ex hymon merimnon dynatai ⸂epi ten helikian aytoy prostheinai⸃ ⸀pechyn;
Edified Edition (EDE)And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται ⸂ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ προσθεῖναι⸃ ⸀πῆχυν;

Phonetic (Greek): ei oyn ⸀oyde elachiston dynasthe, ti peri ton loipon merimnate;
Edified Edition (EDE)If you then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take you thought for the rest?

εἰ οὖν ⸀οὐδὲ ἐλάχιστον δύνασθε, τί περὶ τῶν λοιπῶν μεριμνᾶτε;

Phonetic (Greek): katanoesate ta krina pos ayxanei· oy kopiᾷ oyde nethei· lego de hymin, oyde Solomon en pasῃ tῇ doxῃ aytoy periebaleto hos hen toyton.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."[/JESUS]

κατανοήσατε τὰ κρίνα πῶς αὐξάνει· οὐ κοπιᾷ οὐδὲ νήθει· λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων.

Phonetic (Greek): ei de ⸂en agrῷ ton chorton onta semeron⸃ kai ayrion eis klibanon ballomenon ho theos ohytos ⸀amphiezei, posῳ mallon hymas, oligopistoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)If then God so clothe the grass, who is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?

εἰ δὲ ⸂ἐν ἀγρῷ τὸν χόρτον ὄντα σήμερον⸃ καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ⸀ἀμφιέζει, πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hymeis me zeteite ti phagete ⸀kai ti piete, kai me meteorizesthe,
Edified Edition (EDE)And seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind.

καὶ ὑμεῖς μὴ ζητεῖτε τί φάγητε ⸀καὶ τί πίητε, καὶ μὴ μετεωρίζεσθε,

Phonetic (Greek): tayta gar panta ta ethne toy kosmou ⸀epizetoysin, hymon de ho pater oiden hoti chrῄzete toyton.
Edified Edition (EDE)For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things.

ταῦτα γὰρ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τοῦ κόσμου ⸀ἐπιζητοῦσιν, ὑμῶν δὲ ὁ πατὴρ οἶδεν ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων.

Phonetic (Greek): plen zeteite ten basileian ⸀aytoy, kai ⸀tayta prostethesetai hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you."[/JESUS]

πλὴν ζητεῖτε τὴν βασιλείαν ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ⸀ταῦτα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): Me phoboy, to mikron poimnion, hoti eydokesen ho pater hymon doynai hymin ten basileian.
Edified Edition (EDE)Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Μὴ φοβοῦ, τὸ μικρὸν ποίμνιον, ὅτι εὐδόκησεν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν βασιλείαν.

Phonetic (Greek): polesate ta hyparchonta hymon kai dote eleemosynen· poiesate heautois ballantia me palaioymena, thesauron anekleipton en tois oyranois, hopou kleptes oyk engizei oyde ses diaphtheirei·
Edified Edition (EDE)Sell that you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

πωλήσατε τὰ ὑπάρχοντα ὑμῶν καὶ δότε ἐλεημοσύνην· ποιήσατε ἑαυτοῖς βαλλάντια μὴ παλαιούμενα, θησαυρὸν ἀνέκλειπτον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς, ὅπου κλέπτης οὐκ ἐγγίζει οὐδὲ σὴς διαφθείρει·

Phonetic (Greek): hopou gar estin ho thesauros hymon, ekei kai he kardia hymon estai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."[/JESUS]

ὅπου γάρ ἐστιν ὁ θησαυρὸς ὑμῶν, ἐκεῖ καὶ ἡ καρδία ὑμῶν ἔσται.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἔstosan hymon ahi osphyes periezosmenai kai ohi lychnoi kaiomenoi,
Edified Edition (EDE)Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

Ἔστωσαν ὑμῶν αἱ ὀσφύες περιεζωσμέναι καὶ οἱ λύχνοι καιόμενοι,

Phonetic (Greek): kai hymeis homoioi anthropois prosdechomenois ton kyrion heauton pote analysῃ ek ton gamon, hina elthontos kai kroysantos eytheos anoixosin aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And you yourselves like to men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocketh, they may open to him immediately.

καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅμοιοι ἀνθρώποις προσδεχομένοις τὸν κύριον ἑαυτῶν πότε ἀναλύσῃ ἐκ τῶν γάμων, ἵνα ἐλθόντος καὶ κρούσαντος εὐθέως ἀνοίξωσιν αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): makarioi ohi doyloi ekeinoi, ohys elthon ho kyrios ehyresei gregoroyntas· amen lego hymin hoti perizosetai kai anaklinei aytoys kai parelthon diakonesei aytois.
Edified Edition (EDE)Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: truly I say to you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

μακάριοι οἱ δοῦλοι ἐκεῖνοι, οὓς ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος εὑρήσει γρηγοροῦντας· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι περιζώσεται καὶ ἀνακλινεῖ αὐτοὺς καὶ παρελθὼν διακονήσει αὐτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂kan en tῇ deuterᾳ kan⸃ en tῇ tritῃ phylakῇ elthῃ kai ehyrῃ ohytos, makarioi ⸀eisin ekeinoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

⸂κἂν ἐν τῇ δευτέρᾳ κἂν⸃ ἐν τῇ τρίτῃ φυλακῇ ἔλθῃ καὶ εὕρῃ οὕτως, μακάριοί ⸀εἰσιν ἐκεῖνοι.

Phonetic (Greek): Toyto de ginoskete hoti ei edei ho oikodespotes poiᾳ horᾳ ho kleptes erchetai, ⸂oyk an⸃ apheken ⸀diorychthenai ton oikon aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Τοῦτο δὲ γινώσκετε ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ ὥρᾳ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται, ⸂οὐκ ἂν⸃ ἀφῆκεν ⸀διορυχθῆναι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀hymeis ginesthe hetoimoi, hoti he horᾳ oy dokeite ho yhios toy anthropou erchetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."[/JESUS]

καὶ ⸀ὑμεῖς γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι, ὅτι ᾗ ὥρᾳ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται.

Phonetic (Greek): Eipen ⸀de ho Petros· Kyrie, pros hemas ten parabolen tayten legeis e kai pros pantas;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Peter said to him, Lord, speak you this parable to us, or even to all?

Εἶπεν ⸀δὲ ὁ Πέτρος· Κύριε, πρὸς ἡμᾶς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην λέγεις ἢ καὶ πρὸς πάντας;

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂kai eipen⸃ ho kyrios· Tis ara estin ho pistos oikonomos, ⸀ho phronimos, hon katastesei ho kyrios epi tes therapeias aytoy toy didonai en kairῷ ⸀to sitometrion;
Edified Edition (EDE)And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

Edified Edition (EDE)Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.

μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος, ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει ποιοῦντα οὕτως·

Edified Edition (EDE)Of a truth I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all that he has.

ἀληθῶς λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν.

Edified Edition (EDE)But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ· Χρονίζει ὁ κύριός μου ἔρχεσθαι, καὶ ἄρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς παῖδας καὶ τὰς παιδίσκας, ἐσθίειν τε καὶ πίνειν καὶ μεθύσκεσθαι,

Edified Edition (EDE)The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

ἥξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει, καὶ διχοτομήσει αὐτὸν καὶ τὸ μέρος αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀπίστων θήσει.

Edified Edition (EDE)And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

ἐκεῖνος δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ὁ γνοὺς τὸ θέλημα τοῦ κυρίου ⸀αὐτοῦ καὶ μὴ ἑτοιμάσας ⸀ἢ ποιήσας πρὸς τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ δαρήσεται πολλάς·

Edified Edition (EDE)But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

ὁ δὲ μὴ γνοὺς ποιήσας δὲ ἄξια πληγῶν δαρήσεται ὀλίγας. παντὶ δὲ ᾧ ἐδόθη πολύ, πολὺ ζητηθήσεται παρʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ᾧ παρέθεντο πολύ, περισσότερον αἰτήσουσιν αὐτόν.

Edified Edition (EDE)you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time?
