Edified Edition (EDE)Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,

Ἔλεγεν ⸀δὲ παραβολὴν αὐτοῖς πρὸς τὸ δεῖν πάντοτε προσεύχεσθαι ⸀αὐτοὺς καὶ μὴ ἐγκακεῖν,

Phonetic (Greek): legon· Krites tis en en tini polei ton theon me phoboymenos kai anthropon me entrepomenos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, neither regarded man:

λέγων· Κριτής τις ἦν ἔν τινι πόλει τὸν θεὸν μὴ φοβούμενος καὶ ἄνθρωπον μὴ ἐντρεπόμενος.

Phonetic (Greek): chera de en en tῇ polei ekeinῃ kai ercheto pros ayton legousa· Ἐkdikeson me apo toy antidikou mou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

χήρα δὲ ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ καὶ ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα· Ἐκδίκησόν με ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀντιδίκου μου.

Phonetic (Greek): kai oyk ⸀ethelen epi chronon, meta ⸂tayta de⸃ eipen en heautῷ· Ei kai ton theon oy phoboymai ⸂oyde anthropon⸃ entrepomai,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

καὶ οὐκ ⸀ἤθελεν ἐπὶ χρόνον, μετὰ ⸂ταῦτα δὲ⸃ εἶπεν ἐν ἑαυτῷ· Εἰ καὶ τὸν θεὸν οὐ φοβοῦμαι ⸂οὐδὲ ἄνθρωπον⸃ ἐντρέπομαι,

Phonetic (Greek): dia ge to parechein moi kopon ten cheran tayten ekdikeso ayten, hina me eis telos erchomene hypopiazῃ me.
Edified Edition (EDE)Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

διά γε τὸ παρέχειν μοι κόπον τὴν χήραν ταύτην ἐκδικήσω αὐτήν, ἵνα μὴ εἰς τέλος ἐρχομένη ὑπωπιάζῃ με.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de ho kyrios· Ἀkoysate ti ho krites tes adikias legei·
Edified Edition (EDE)And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.

εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος· Ἀκούσατε τί ὁ κριτὴς τῆς ἀδικίας λέγει·

Phonetic (Greek): ho de theos oy me poiesῃ ten ekdikesin ton eklekton aytoy ton boonton ⸀aytῷ hemeras kai nyktos, kai ⸀makrothymei epʼ aytois;
Edified Edition (EDE)And shall not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night to him, though he bear long with them?

ὁ δὲ θεὸς οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ τὴν ἐκδίκησιν τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν αὐτοῦ τῶν βοώντων ⸀αὐτῷ ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός, καὶ ⸀μακροθυμεῖ ἐπʼ αὐτοῖς;

Phonetic (Greek): lego hymin hoti poiesei ten ekdikesin ayton en tachei. plen ho yhios toy anthropou elthon ara ehyresei ten pistin epi tes ges;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"[/JESUS]

λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ποιήσει τὴν ἐκδίκησιν αὐτῶν ἐν τάχει. πλὴν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐλθὼν ἆρα εὑρήσει τὴν πίστιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς;

Phonetic (Greek): Eipen de ⸀kai pros tinas toys pepoithotas ephʼ heautois hoti eisin dikaioi kai exouthenoyntas toys loipoys ten parabolen tayten·
Edified Edition (EDE)And he spoke this parable to certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Εἶπεν δὲ ⸀καὶ πρός τινας τοὺς πεποιθότας ἐφʼ ἑαυτοῖς ὅτι εἰσὶν δίκαιοι καὶ ἐξουθενοῦντας τοὺς λοιποὺς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην·

Phonetic (Greek): Ἄnthropoi dyo anebesan eis to hieron proseyxasthai, ⸀ho ehis Pharisaios kai ho heteros telones.
Edified Edition (EDE)Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

Ἄνθρωποι δύο ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν προσεύξασθαι, ⸀ὁ εἷς Φαρισαῖος καὶ ὁ ἕτερος τελώνης.

Phonetic (Greek): ho Pharisaios statheis ⸂pros heauton tayta⸃ proseycheto· Ὁ theos, eycharisto soi hoti oyk eimi ⸀hosper ohi loipoi ton anthropon, harpages, adikoi, moichoi, e kai hos ohytos ho telones·
Edified Edition (EDE)The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

ὁ Φαρισαῖος σταθεὶς ⸂πρὸς ἑαυτὸν ταῦτα⸃ προσηύχετο· Ὁ θεός, εὐχαριστῶ σοι ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ⸀ὥσπερ οἱ λοιποὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἅρπαγες, ἄδικοι, μοιχοί, ἢ καὶ ὡς οὗτος ὁ τελώνης·

Phonetic (Greek): nesteyo dis toy sabbatou, ⸀apodekato panta hosa ktomai.
Edified Edition (EDE)I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

νηστεύω δὶς τοῦ σαββάτου, ⸀ἀποδεκατῶ πάντα ὅσα κτῶμαι.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂ho de⸃ telones makrothen hestos oyk ethelen oyde toys ophthalmoys ⸂eparai eis ton oyranon⸃, allʼ ⸀etypte to stethos ⸀aytoy legon· Ὁ theos, hilastheti moi tῷ hamartolῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

⸂ὁ δὲ⸃ τελώνης μακρόθεν ἑστὼς οὐκ ἤθελεν οὐδὲ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ⸂ἐπᾶραι εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν⸃, ἀλλʼ ⸀ἔτυπτε τὸ στῆθος ⸀αὐτοῦ λέγων· Ὁ θεός, ἱλάσθητί μοι τῷ ἁμαρτωλῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): lego hymin, katebe ohytos dedikaiomenos eis ton oikon aytoy ⸂parʼ ekeinon⸃· hoti pas ho hypson heauton tapeinothesetai, ho de tapeinon heauton hypsothesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."[/JESUS]

λέγω ὑμῖν, κατέβη οὗτος δεδικαιωμένος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ⸂παρʼ ἐκεῖνον⸃· ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὑψῶν ἑαυτὸν ταπεινωθήσεται, ὁ δὲ ταπεινῶν ἑαυτὸν ὑψωθήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): Prosepheron de aytῷ kai ta brephe hina ayton haptetai· idontes de ohi mathetai ⸀epetimon aytois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they brought to him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

Προσέφερον δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ τὰ βρέφη ἵνα αὐτῶν ἅπτηται· ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ ⸀ἐπετίμων αὐτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἰesoys ⸂prosekalesato ayta legon⸃· Ἄphete ta paidia erchesthai pros me kai me kolyete ayta, ton gar toioyton estin he basileia toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus called them to Himself and said, [JESUS]"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸂προσεκαλέσατο αὐτὰ λέγων⸃· Ἄφετε τὰ παιδία ἔρχεσθαι πρός με καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτά, τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): amen lego hymin, hos ⸀an me dexetai ten basileian toy theoy hos paidion, oy me eiselthῃ eis ayten.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."[/JESUS]

ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὃς ⸀ἂν μὴ δέξηται τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ ὡς παιδίον, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθῃ εἰς αὐτήν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai eperotesen tis ayton archon legon· Didaskale agathe, ti poiesas zoen aionion kleronomeso;
Edified Edition (EDE)And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Καὶ ἐπηρώτησέν τις αὐτὸν ἄρχων λέγων· Διδάσκαλε ἀγαθέ, τί ποιήσας ζωὴν αἰώνιον κληρονομήσω;

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de aytῷ ho Ἰesoys· Ti me legeis agathon; oydeis agathos ei me ehis ho theos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus said to him, Why callest you me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Τί με λέγεις ἀγαθόν; οὐδεὶς ἀγαθὸς εἰ μὴ εἷς ὁ θεός.

Phonetic (Greek): tas entolas oidas· Me moicheysῃs, Me phoneysῃs, Me klepsῃs, Me pseudomartyresῃs, Tima ton patera sou kai ten ⸀metera.
Edified Edition (EDE)you know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.

τὰς ἐντολὰς οἶδας· Μὴ μοιχεύσῃς, Μὴ φονεύσῃς, Μὴ κλέψῃς, Μὴ ψευδομαρτυρήσῃς, Τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν ⸀μητέρα.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen· Tayta panta ⸀ephylaxa ek neotetos ⸀mou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ταῦτα πάντα ⸀ἐφύλαξα ἐκ νεότητος ⸀μου.

Phonetic (Greek): akoysas ⸀de ho Ἰesoys eipen aytῷ· Ἔti hen soi leipei· panta hosa echeis poleson kai diados ptochois, kai hexeis thesauron en ⸀oyranois, kai deyro akoloythei moi.
Edified Edition (EDE)So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, [JESUS]"You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."[/JESUS]

ἀκούσας ⸀δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἔτι ἕν σοι λείπει· πάντα ὅσα ἔχεις πώλησον καὶ διάδος πτωχοῖς, καὶ ἕξεις θησαυρὸν ἐν ⸀οὐρανοῖς, καὶ δεῦρο ἀκολούθει μοι.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de akoysas tayta perilypos ⸀egenethe, en gar ploysios sphodra.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

ὁ δὲ ἀκούσας ταῦτα περίλυπος ⸀ἐγενήθη, ἦν γὰρ πλούσιος σφόδρα.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἰdon de ayton ho ⸀Ἰesoys eipen· Pos dyskolos ohi ta chremata echontes ⸂eis ten basileian toy theoy eisporeyontai⸃·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

Ἰδὼν δὲ αὐτὸν ὁ ⸀Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Πῶς δυσκόλως οἱ τὰ χρήματα ἔχοντες ⸂εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσπορεύονται⸃·

Phonetic (Greek): eykopoteron gar estin kamelon dia ⸂trematos belones⸃ eiselthein e ploysion eis ten basileian toy theoy eiselthein.
Edified Edition (EDE)For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

εὐκοπώτερον γάρ ἐστιν κάμηλον διὰ ⸂τρήματος βελόνης⸃ εἰσελθεῖν ἢ πλούσιον εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσελθεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): Eipan de ohi akoysantes· Kai tis dynatai sothenai;
Edified Edition (EDE)And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

Εἶπαν δὲ οἱ ἀκούσαντες· Καὶ τίς δύναται σωθῆναι;

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen· Ta adynata para anthropois dynata ⸂para tῷ theῷ estin⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)But He said, [JESUS]"The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Τὰ ἀδύνατα παρὰ ἀνθρώποις δυνατὰ ⸂παρὰ τῷ θεῷ ἐστιν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): Eipen de ⸀ho Petros· Ἰdoy hemeis ⸂aphentes ta idia⸃ ekolouthesamen soi.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed you.

Εἶπεν δὲ ⸀ὁ Πέτρος· Ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς ⸂ἀφέντες τὰ ἴδια⸃ ἠκολουθήσαμέν σοι.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen aytois· Ἀmen lego hymin hoti oydeis estin hos apheken oikian e ⸂gynaika e adelphoys e goneis⸃ e tekna heneken tes basileias toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to them, truly I say to you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδείς ἐστιν ὃς ἀφῆκεν οἰκίαν ἢ ⸂γυναῖκα ἢ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ γονεῖς⸃ ἢ τέκνα ἕνεκεν τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): hos ⸀oychi me ⸀apolabῃ pollaplasiona en tῷ kairῷ toytῳ kai en tῷ aioni tῷ erchomenῳ zoen aionion.
Edified Edition (EDE)Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

ὃς ⸀οὐχὶ μὴ ⸀ἀπολάβῃ πολλαπλασίονα ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τούτῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τῷ ἐρχομένῳ ζωὴν αἰώνιον.

Phonetic (Greek): Paralabon de toys dodeka eipen pros aytoys· Ἰdoy anabainomen eis ⸀Ἰerousalem, kai telesthesetai panta ta gegrammena dia ton propheton tῷ yhiῷ toy anthropou·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, [JESUS]"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished."[/JESUS]

Παραλαβὼν δὲ τοὺς δώδεκα εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Ἰδοὺ ἀναβαίνομεν εἰς ⸀Ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ τελεσθήσεται πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα διὰ τῶν προφητῶν τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου·

Phonetic (Greek): paradothesetai gar tois ethnesin kai empaichthesetai kai hybristhesetai kai emptysthesetai,
Edified Edition (EDE)For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

παραδοθήσεται γὰρ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ ἐμπαιχθήσεται καὶ ὑβρισθήσεται καὶ ἐμπτυσθήσεται,

Phonetic (Greek): kai mastigosantes apoktenoysin ayton, kai tῇ hemerᾳ tῇ tritῃ anastesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

καὶ μαστιγώσαντες ἀποκτενοῦσιν αὐτόν, καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ἀναστήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): kai aytoi oyden toyton synekan, kai en to ῥema toyto kekrymmenon apʼ ayton, kai oyk eginoskon ta legomena.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐδὲν τούτων συνῆκαν, καὶ ἦν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο κεκρυμμένον ἀπʼ αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἐγίνωσκον τὰ λεγόμενα.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐgeneto de en tῷ engizein ayton eis Ἰericho typhlos tis ekatheto para ten hodon ⸀epaiton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh to Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ ἐγγίζειν αὐτὸν εἰς Ἰεριχὼ τυφλός τις ἐκάθητο παρὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ⸀ἐπαιτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): akoysas de ochlou diaporeuomenou epynthaneto ⸀ti eie toyto·
Edified Edition (EDE)And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

ἀκούσας δὲ ὄχλου διαπορευομένου ἐπυνθάνετο ⸀τί εἴη τοῦτο·

Phonetic (Greek): apengeilan de aytῷ hoti Ἰesoys ho Nazoraios parerchetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

ἀπήγγειλαν δὲ αὐτῷ ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ὁ Ναζωραῖος παρέρχεται.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eboesen legon· Ἰesoy yhie Dauid, eleeson me.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he cried, saying, Jesus, you Son of David, have mercy on me.

καὶ ἐβόησεν λέγων· Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ohi proagontes epetimon aytῷ hina ⸀sigesῃ· aytos de pollῷ mallon ekrazen· Yhie Dauid, eleeson me.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, you Son of David, have mercy on me.

καὶ οἱ προάγοντες ἐπετίμων αὐτῷ ἵνα ⸀σιγήσῃ· αὐτὸς δὲ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἔκραζεν· Υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.

Phonetic (Greek): statheis de ⸀ho Ἰesoys ekeleusen ayton achthenai pros ayton. engisantos de aytoy eperotesen ayton·
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought to him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

σταθεὶς δὲ ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκέλευσεν αὐτὸν ἀχθῆναι πρὸς αὐτόν. ἐγγίσαντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτόν·

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Ti soi theleis poieso; ho de eipen· Kyrie, hina anablepso.
Edified Edition (EDE)Saying, What will you that I shall do to you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

⸀Τί σοι θέλεις ποιήσω; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Κύριε, ἵνα ἀναβλέψω.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ho Ἰesoys eipen aytῷ· Ἀnablepson· he pistis sou sesoken se.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus said to him, [JESUS]"Receive your sight; your faith has made you well."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἀνάβλεψον· ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε.

Phonetic (Greek): kai parachrema aneblepsen, kai ekoloythei aytῷ doxazon ton theon. kai pas ho laos idon edoken ainon tῷ theῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

καὶ παραχρῆμα ἀνέβλεψεν, καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ δοξάζων τὸν θεόν. καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἰδὼν ἔδωκεν αἶνον τῷ θεῷ.
