Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

Καὶ εἰσελθὼν διήρχετο τὴν Ἰεριχώ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idoy aner onomati ⸀kaloymenos Zakchaios, kai aytos en architelones kai ⸀aytos ploysios·
Edified Edition (EDE)And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ὀνόματι ⸀καλούμενος Ζακχαῖος, καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν ἀρχιτελώνης καὶ ⸀αὐτὸς πλούσιος·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ezetei idein ton Ἰesoyn tis estin, kai oyk edynato apo toy ochlou hoti tῇ helikiᾳ mikros en.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

καὶ ἐζήτει ἰδεῖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν τίς ἐστιν, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου ὅτι τῇ ἡλικίᾳ μικρὸς ἦν.

Edified Edition (EDE)And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

καὶ προδραμὼν ⸂εἰς τὸ⸃ ἔμπροσθεν ἀνέβη ἐπὶ συκομορέαν ἵνα ἴδῃ αὐτόν, ὅτι ἐκείνης ἤμελλεν διέρχεσθαι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hos elthen epi ton topon, anablepsas ho ⸀Ἰesoys eipen pros ayton· Zakchaie, speysas katabethi, semeron gar en tῷ oikῳ sou dei me meinai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, [JESUS]"Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὡς ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον, ἀναβλέψας ὁ ⸀Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν· Ζακχαῖε, σπεύσας κατάβηθι, σήμερον γὰρ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου δεῖ με μεῖναι.

Edified Edition (EDE)And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

καὶ σπεύσας κατέβη, καὶ ὑπεδέξατο αὐτὸν χαίρων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idontes pantes diegongyzon legontes hoti Para hamartolῷ andri eiselthen katalysai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

καὶ ἰδόντες πάντες διεγόγγυζον λέγοντες ὅτι Παρὰ ἁμαρτωλῷ ἀνδρὶ εἰσῆλθεν καταλῦσαι.

Edified Edition (EDE)And Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

σταθεὶς δὲ Ζακχαῖος εἶπεν πρὸς τὸν κύριον· Ἰδοὺ τὰ ⸀ἡμίσιά ⸂μου τῶν ὑπαρχόντων⸃, κύριε, ⸂τοῖς πτωχοῖς δίδωμι⸃, καὶ εἴ τινός τι ἐσυκοφάντησα ἀποδίδωμι τετραπλοῦν.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de pros ayton ho Ἰesoys hoti Semeron soteria tῷ oikῳ toytῳ egeneto, kathoti kai aytos yhios Ἀbraam estin·
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus said to him, [JESUS]"Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;"[/JESUS]

εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Σήμερον σωτηρία τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ ἐγένετο, καθότι καὶ αὐτὸς υἱὸς Ἀβραάμ ἐστιν·

Phonetic (Greek): elthen gar ho yhios toy anthropou zetesai kai sosai to apololos.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."[/JESUS]

ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ζητῆσαι καὶ σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀkouonton de ayton tayta prostheis eipen parabolen dia to engys ⸂einai Ἰerousalem ayton⸃ kai dokein aytoys hoti parachrema mellei he basileia toy theoy anaphainesthai·
Edified Edition (EDE)...because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately.

Ἀκουόντων δὲ αὐτῶν ταῦτα προσθεὶς εἶπεν παραβολὴν διὰ τὸ ἐγγὺς ⸂εἶναι Ἰερουσαλὴμ αὐτὸν⸃ καὶ δοκεῖν αὐτοὺς ὅτι παραχρῆμα μέλλει ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀναφαίνεσθαι·

Phonetic (Greek): eipen oyn· Ἄnthropos tis eygenes eporeythe eis choran makran labein heautῷ basileian kai hypostrepsai.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore He said: [JESUS]"A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return."[/JESUS]

εἶπεν οὖν· Ἄνθρωπός τις εὐγενὴς ἐπορεύθη εἰς χώραν μακρὰν λαβεῖν ἑαυτῷ βασιλείαν καὶ ὑποστρέψαι.

Phonetic (Greek): kalesas de deka doylous heautoy edoken aytois deka mnas kai eipen pros aytoys· ⸀Pragmateysasthe ⸂en ho⸃ erchomai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said to them, Occupy till I come.

καλέσας δὲ δέκα δούλους ἑαυτοῦ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς δέκα μνᾶς καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· ⸀Πραγματεύσασθε ⸂ἐν ᾧ⸃ ἔρχομαι.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de politai aytoy emisoun ayton, kai apesteilan presbeian opiso aytoy legontes· Oy thelomen toyton basileysai ephʼ hemas.
Edified Edition (EDE)But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

οἱ δὲ πολῖται αὐτοῦ ἐμίσουν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπέστειλαν πρεσβείαν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ λέγοντες· Οὐ θέλομεν τοῦτον βασιλεῦσαι ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai egeneto en tῷ epanelthein ayton labonta ten basileian kai eipen phonethenai aytῷ toys doylous toytous ohis ⸀dedokei to argyrion, hina ⸀gnoi ti ⸀diepragmateysanto.
Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐπανελθεῖν αὐτὸν λαβόντα τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ εἶπεν φωνηθῆναι αὐτῷ τοὺς δούλους τούτους οἷς ⸀δεδώκει τὸ ἀργύριον, ἵνα ⸀γνοῖ τί ⸀διεπραγματεύσαντο.

Edified Edition (EDE)Then came the first, saying, Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.

παρεγένετο δὲ ὁ πρῶτος λέγων· Κύριε, ἡ μνᾶ σου ⸂δέκα προσηργάσατο⸃ μνᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipen aytῷ· ⸀Eyge, agathe doyle, hoti en elachistῳ pistos egenou, isthi exousian echon epano deka poleon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to him, Well, you good servant: because you have been faithful in a very little, have you authority over ten cities.

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· ⸀Εὖγε, ἀγαθὲ δοῦλε, ὅτι ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ πιστὸς ἐγένου, ἴσθι ἐξουσίαν ἔχων ἐπάνω δέκα πόλεων.

Edified Edition (EDE)And the second came, saying, Lord, your pound has gained five pounds.

καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ δεύτερος λέγων· ⸂Ἡ μνᾶ σου, κύριε⸃, ἐποίησεν πέντε μνᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): eipen de kai toytῳ· Kai sy ⸂epano ginou⸃ pente poleon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said likewise to him, Be you also over five cities.

εἶπεν δὲ καὶ τούτῳ· Καὶ σὺ ⸂ἐπάνω γίνου⸃ πέντε πόλεων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀ho heteros elthen legon· Kyrie, idoy he mna sou hen eichon apokeimenen en soudariῳ·
Edified Edition (EDE)And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your pound, who I have kept laid up in a napkin:

καὶ ⸀ὁ ἕτερος ἦλθεν λέγων· Κύριε, ἰδοὺ ἡ μνᾶ σου ἣν εἶχον ἀποκειμένην ἐν σουδαρίῳ·

Phonetic (Greek): ephoboymen gar se hoti anthropos aysteros ei, aireis ho oyk ethekas kai therizeis ho oyk espeiras.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I feared you, because you are an austere man: you takest up that you layedst not down, and reapest that you did not sow.

ἐφοβούμην γάρ σε ὅτι ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρὸς εἶ, αἴρεις ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκας καὶ θερίζεις ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρας.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀legei aytῷ· Ἐk toy stomatos sou krino se, ponere doyle· edeis hoti ego anthropos aysteros eimi, airon ho oyk etheka kai therizon ho oyk espeira;
Edified Edition (EDE)And he says to him, Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. you knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

⸀λέγει αὐτῷ· Ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου κρίνω σε, πονηρὲ δοῦλε· ᾔδεις ὅτι ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπος αὐστηρός εἰμι, αἴρων ὃ οὐκ ἔθηκα καὶ θερίζων ὃ οὐκ ἔσπειρα;

Phonetic (Greek): kai dia ti oyk edokas ⸂mou to argyrion⸃ epi trapezan; kago elthon syn tokῳ an ⸂ayto epraxa⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)Wherefore then gavest not you my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

καὶ διὰ τί οὐκ ἔδωκάς ⸂μου τὸ ἀργύριον⸃ ἐπὶ τράπεζαν; κἀγὼ ἐλθὼν σὺν τόκῳ ἂν ⸂αὐτὸ ἔπραξα⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai tois parestosin eipen· Ἄrate apʼ aytoy ten mnan kai dote tῷ tas deka mnas echonti—
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that has ten pounds.

καὶ τοῖς παρεστῶσιν εἶπεν· Ἄρατε ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ τὴν μνᾶν καὶ δότε τῷ τὰς δέκα μνᾶς ἔχοντι—

Edified Edition (EDE)(And they said to him, Lord, he has ten pounds.)

καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ· Κύριε, ἔχει δέκα μνᾶς—

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀lego hymin hoti panti tῷ echonti dothesetai, apo de toy me echontos kai ho echei ⸀arthesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I say to you, That to every one which has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that he has shall be taken away from him.

⸀λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι παντὶ τῷ ἔχοντι δοθήσεται, ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ μὴ ἔχοντος καὶ ὃ ἔχει ⸀ἀρθήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): plen toys echthroys mou ⸀toytous toys me thelesantas me basileysai epʼ aytoys agagete hode kai katasphaxate ⸀aytoys emprosthen mou.
Edified Edition (EDE)But those mine enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring Here, and slay them before me.

πλὴν τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου ⸀τούτους τοὺς μὴ θελήσαντάς με βασιλεῦσαι ἐπʼ αὐτοὺς ἀγάγετε ὧδε καὶ κατασφάξατε ⸀αὐτοὺς ἔμπροσθέν μου.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai eipon tayta eporeyeto emprosthen anabainon eis Ἱerosolyma.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

Καὶ εἰπὼν ταῦτα ἐπορεύετο ἔμπροσθεν ἀναβαίνων εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai egeneto hos engisen eis Bethphage kai Bethanian pros to oros to kaloymenon Ἐlaion, apesteilen dyo ton ⸀matheton
Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

Καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤγγισεν εἰς Βηθφαγὴ καὶ Βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ ὄρος τὸ καλούμενον Ἐλαιῶν, ἀπέστειλεν δύο τῶν ⸀μαθητῶν

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀legon· Ὑpagete eis ten katenanti komen, en he eisporeuomenoi ehyresete polon dedemenon, ephʼ hon oydeis popote anthropon ekathisen, ⸀kai lysantes ayton agagete.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]saying: "Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here."[/JESUS]

⸀λέγων· Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κατέναντι κώμην, ἐν ᾗ εἰσπορευόμενοι εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον, ἐφʼ ὃν οὐδεὶς πώποτε ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν, ⸀καὶ λύσαντες αὐτὸν ἀγάγετε.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ean tis hymas erotᾷ· Dia ti lyete; ohytos ⸀ereite hoti Ὁ kyrios aytoy chreian echei.
Edified Edition (EDE)And if any man ask you, Why do you loose him? thus shall you say to him, Because the Lord has need of him.

καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμᾶς ἐρωτᾷ· Διὰ τί λύετε; οὕτως ⸀ἐρεῖτε ὅτι Ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει.

Phonetic (Greek): apelthontes de ohi apestalmenoi ehyron kathos eipen aytois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said to them.

ἀπελθόντες δὲ οἱ ἀπεσταλμένοι εὗρον καθὼς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): lyonton de ayton ton polon eipan ohi kyrioi aytoy pros aytoys· Ti lyete ton polon;
Edified Edition (EDE)And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said to them, Why loose you the colt?

λυόντων δὲ αὐτῶν τὸν πῶλον εἶπαν οἱ κύριοι αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτούς· Τί λύετε τὸν πῶλον;

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de eipan ⸀hoti Ὁ kyrios aytoy chreian echei.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they said, The Lord has need of him.

οἱ δὲ εἶπαν ⸀ὅτι Ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει.

Phonetic (Greek): kai egagon ayton pros ton Ἰesoyn, kai epiripsantes ⸀ayton ta himatia epi ton polon epebibasan ton Ἰesoyn·
Edified Edition (EDE)And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ ἐπιρίψαντες ⸀αὐτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια ἐπὶ τὸν πῶλον ἐπεβίβασαν τὸν Ἰησοῦν·

Phonetic (Greek): poreuomenou de aytoy hypestronnyon ta himatia ⸀heauton en tῇ hodῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

πορευομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ ὑπεστρώννυον τὰ ἱμάτια ⸀ἑαυτῶν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): engizontos de aytoy ede pros tῇ katabasei toy Ὄrous ton Ἐlaion erxanto hapan to plethos ton matheton chairontes ainein ton theon phonῇ megalῃ peri ⸀pason hon eidon dynameon,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

ἐγγίζοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἤδη πρὸς τῇ καταβάσει τοῦ Ὄρους τῶν Ἐλαιῶν ἤρξαντο ἅπαν τὸ πλῆθος τῶν μαθητῶν χαίροντες αἰνεῖν τὸν θεὸν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ περὶ ⸀πασῶν ὧν εἶδον δυνάμεων,

Phonetic (Greek): legontes· Eylogemenos ho erchomenos ⸀basileys en onomati kyriou· ⸂en oyranῷ eirene⸃ kai doxa en hypsistois.
Edified Edition (EDE)Saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

λέγοντες· Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ⸀βασιλεὺς ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου· ⸂ἐν οὐρανῷ εἰρήνη⸃ καὶ δόξα ἐν ὑψίστοις.

Phonetic (Greek): kai tines ton Pharisaion apo toy ochlou eipan pros ayton· Didaskale, epitimeson tois mathetais sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to him, Master, rebuke your disciples.

καί τινες τῶν Φαρισαίων ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτόν· Διδάσκαλε, ἐπιτίμησον τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apokritheis ⸀eipen· Lego hymin, ⸀hoti ean ohytoi ⸀siopesousin, ohi lithoi ⸀kraxousin.
Edified Edition (EDE)But He answered and said to them, [JESUS]"I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ⸀εἶπεν· Λέγω ὑμῖν, ⸀ὅτι ἐὰν οὗτοι ⸀σιωπήσουσιν, οἱ λίθοι ⸀κράξουσιν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai hos engisen, idon ten polin eklausen epʼ ⸀ayten,
Edified Edition (EDE)Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,

Καὶ ὡς ἤγγισεν, ἰδὼν τὴν πόλιν ἔκλαυσεν ἐπʼ ⸀αὐτήν,

Phonetic (Greek): legon hoti Ei egnos ⸂en tῇ hemerᾳ taytῃ kai sy⸃ ta pros ⸀eirenen— nyn de ekrybe apo ophthalmon sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes."[/JESUS]

λέγων ὅτι Εἰ ἔγνως ⸂ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ καὶ σὺ⸃ τὰ πρὸς ⸀εἰρήνην— νῦν δὲ ἐκρύβη ἀπὸ ὀφθαλμῶν σου.

Phonetic (Greek): hoti hexousin hemerai epi se kai ⸀parembaloysin ohi echthroi sou charaka soi kai perikyklosousin se kai synexousin se pantothen,
Edified Edition (EDE)For the days shall come upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench about you, and compass you round, and keep you in on every side,

ὅτι ἥξουσιν ἡμέραι ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ ⸀παρεμβαλοῦσιν οἱ ἐχθροί σου χάρακά σοι καὶ περικυκλώσουσίν σε καὶ συνέξουσίν σε πάντοθεν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai edaphioysin se kai ta tekna sou en soi, kai oyk aphesousin ⸂lithon epi lithon en soi⸃, anthʼ hon oyk egnos ton kairon tes episkopes sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And shall lay you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you knewest not the time of your visitation.

καὶ ἐδαφιοῦσίν σε καὶ τὰ τέκνα σου ἐν σοί, καὶ οὐκ ἀφήσουσιν ⸂λίθον ἐπὶ λίθον ἐν σοί⸃, ἀνθʼ ὧν οὐκ ἔγνως τὸν καιρὸν τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς σου.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai eiselthon eis to hieron erxato ekballein toys ⸀poloyntas,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

Καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς ⸀πωλοῦντας,

Phonetic (Greek): legon aytois· Gegraptai· ⸂Kai estai⸃ ho oikos mou oikos ⸀proseuches, hymeis de ayton epoiesate spelaion lῃston.
Edified Edition (EDE)saying to them, [JESUS]"It is written, 'My house is a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.'"[/JESUS]

Edified Edition (EDE)And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

Καὶ ἦν διδάσκων τὸ καθʼ ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ· οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν ἀπολέσαι καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τοῦ λαοῦ,
