Edified Edition (EDE)Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate.

Καὶ ἀναστὰν ἅπαν τὸ πλῆθος αὐτῶν ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸν Πιλᾶτον.

Phonetic (Greek): erxanto de kategorein aytoy legontes· Toyton ehyramen diastrephonta to ethnos ⸀hemon kai kolyonta ⸂phorous Kaisari⸃ didonai ⸀kai legonta ⸀ahyton christon basilea einai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

ἤρξαντο δὲ κατηγορεῖν αὐτοῦ λέγοντες· Τοῦτον εὕραμεν διαστρέφοντα τὸ ἔθνος ⸀ἡμῶν καὶ κωλύοντα ⸂φόρους Καίσαρι⸃ διδόναι ⸀καὶ λέγοντα ⸀αὑτὸν χριστὸν βασιλέα εἶναι.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Pilatos ⸀erotesen ayton legon· Sy ei ho basileys ton Ἰoudaion; ho de apokritheis aytῷ ephe· Sy legeis.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Pilate asked him, saying, are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, you say it.

ὁ δὲ Πιλᾶτος ⸀ἠρώτησεν αὐτὸν λέγων· Σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων; ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτῷ ἔφη· Σὺ λέγεις.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Pilatos eipen pros toys archiereis kai toys ochlous· Oyden ehyrisko aition en tῷ anthropῳ toytῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

ὁ δὲ Πιλᾶτος εἶπεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ τοὺς ὄχλους· Οὐδὲν εὑρίσκω αἴτιον ἐν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τούτῳ.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de epischyon legontes hoti Ἀnaseiei ton laon didaskon kathʼ holes tes Ἰoudaias, ⸀kai arxamenos apo tes Galilaias heos hode.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

οἱ δὲ ἐπίσχυον λέγοντες ὅτι Ἀνασείει τὸν λαὸν διδάσκων καθʼ ὅλης τῆς Ἰουδαίας, ⸀καὶ ἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας ἕως ὧδε.

Phonetic (Greek): Pilatos de ⸀akoysas eperotesen ei ho anthropos Galilaios estin,
Edified Edition (EDE)When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.

Πιλᾶτος δὲ ⸀ἀκούσας ἐπηρώτησεν εἰ ὁ ἄνθρωπος Γαλιλαῖός ἐστιν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai epignoys hoti ek tes exousias Ἡrῴdou estin anepempsen ayton pros Ἡrῴden, onta kai ayton en Ἱerosolymois en taytais tais hemerais.
Edified Edition (EDE)And as soon as he knew that he belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

καὶ ἐπιγνοὺς ὅτι ἐκ τῆς ἐξουσίας Ἡρῴδου ἐστὶν ἀνέπεμψεν αὐτὸν πρὸς Ἡρῴδην, ὄντα καὶ αὐτὸν ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις ἐν ταύταις ταῖς ἡμέραις.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἡrῴdes idon ton Ἰesoyn echare lian, en gar ⸂ex hikanon chronon thelon⸃ idein ayton dia to ⸀akoyein peri aytoy, kai elpizen ti semeion idein hypʼ aytoy ginomenon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

ὁ δὲ Ἡρῴδης ἰδὼν τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐχάρη λίαν, ἦν γὰρ ⸂ἐξ ἱκανῶν χρόνων θέλων⸃ ἰδεῖν αὐτὸν διὰ τὸ ⸀ἀκούειν περὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἤλπιζέν τι σημεῖον ἰδεῖν ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ γινόμενον.

Phonetic (Greek): eperota de ayton en logois hikanois· aytos de oyden apekrinato aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

ἐπηρώτα δὲ αὐτὸν ἐν λόγοις ἱκανοῖς· αὐτὸς δὲ οὐδὲν ἀπεκρίνατο αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): ehistekeisan de ohi archiereis kai ohi grammateis eytonos kategoroyntes aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

εἱστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς εὐτόνως κατηγοροῦντες αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): exouthenesas de ayton ⸀kai ho Ἡrῴdes syn tois strateymasin aytoy kai empaixas ⸀peribalon estheta lampran anepempsen ayton tῷ Pilatῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

ἐξουθενήσας δὲ αὐτὸν ⸀καὶ ὁ Ἡρῴδης σὺν τοῖς στρατεύμασιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐμπαίξας ⸀περιβαλὼν ἐσθῆτα λαμπρὰν ἀνέπεμψεν αὐτὸν τῷ Πιλάτῳ.

Edified Edition (EDE)And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

ἐγένοντο δὲ φίλοι ὅ τε ⸂Ἡρῴδης καὶ ὁ Πιλᾶτος⸃ ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ μετʼ ἀλλήλων· προϋπῆρχον γὰρ ἐν ἔχθρᾳ ὄντες πρὸς ⸀αὑτούς.

Edified Edition (EDE)And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

Πιλᾶτος δὲ συγκαλεσάμενος τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τὸν λαὸν

Phonetic (Greek): eipen pros aytoys· Prosenenkate moi ton anthropon toyton hos apostrephonta ton laon, kai idoy ego enopion hymon anakrinas ⸀oythen ehyron en tῷ anthropῳ toytῳ aition hon kategoreite katʼ aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)Said to them, you have brought this man to me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof you accuse him:

εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Προσηνέγκατέ μοι τὸν ἄνθρωπον τοῦτον ὡς ἀποστρέφοντα τὸν λαόν, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐνώπιον ὑμῶν ἀνακρίνας ⸀οὐθὲν εὗρον ἐν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τούτῳ αἴτιον ὧν κατηγορεῖτε κατʼ αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): allʼ oyde Ἡrῴdes, ⸂anepempsen gar ayton pros hemas⸃· kai idoy oyden axion thanatou estin pepragmenon aytῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done to him.

ἀλλʼ οὐδὲ Ἡρῴδης, ⸂ἀνέπεμψεν γὰρ αὐτὸν πρὸς ἡμᾶς⸃· καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐδὲν ἄξιον θανάτου ἐστὶν πεπραγμένον αὐτῷ·

Phonetic (Greek): paideysas oyn ayton ⸀apolyso.
Edified Edition (EDE)I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

παιδεύσας οὖν αὐτὸν ⸀ἀπολύσω.

Edified Edition (EDE)And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas:

⸀Ἀνέκραγον δὲ παμπληθεὶ λέγοντες· Αἶρε τοῦτον, ἀπόλυσον δὲ ἡμῖν ⸀τὸν Βαραββᾶν·

Edified Edition (EDE)(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

ὅστις ἦν διὰ στάσιν τινὰ γενομένην ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ φόνον ⸂βληθεὶς ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ⸃.

Edified Edition (EDE)Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them.

πάλιν ⸀δὲ ὁ Πιλᾶτος ⸀προσεφώνησεν, θέλων ἀπολῦσαι τὸν Ἰησοῦν.

Edified Edition (EDE)But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

οἱ δὲ ἐπεφώνουν λέγοντες· ⸂Σταύρου σταύρου⸃ αὐτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de triton eipen pros aytoys· Ti gar kakon epoiesen ohytos; oyden aition thanatou ehyron en aytῷ· paideysas oyn ayton apolyso.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil has he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

ὁ δὲ τρίτον εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Τί γὰρ κακὸν ἐποίησεν οὗτος; οὐδὲν αἴτιον θανάτου εὗρον ἐν αὐτῷ· παιδεύσας οὖν αὐτὸν ἀπολύσω.

Edified Edition (EDE)And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

οἱ δὲ ἐπέκειντο φωναῖς μεγάλαις αἰτούμενοι αὐτὸν σταυρωθῆναι, καὶ κατίσχυον αἱ φωναὶ ⸀αὐτῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

⸀καὶ Πιλᾶτος ἐπέκρινεν γενέσθαι τὸ αἴτημα αὐτῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): apelysen de ton dia stasin kai phonon beblemenon ⸀eis phylaken hon etoynto, ton de Ἰesoyn paredoken tῷ thelemati ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he released to them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

ἀπέλυσεν δὲ τὸν διὰ στάσιν καὶ φόνον βεβλημένον ⸀εἰς φυλακὴν ὃν ᾐτοῦντο, τὸν δὲ Ἰησοῦν παρέδωκεν τῷ θελήματι αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai hos apegagon ayton, epilabomenoi ⸂Simona tina Kyrenaion erchomenon⸃ apʼ agroy epethekan aytῷ ton stauron pherein opisthen toy Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

Καὶ ὡς ἀπήγαγον αὐτόν, ἐπιλαβόμενοι ⸂Σίμωνά τινα Κυρηναῖον ἐρχόμενον⸃ ἀπʼ ἀγροῦ ἐπέθηκαν αὐτῷ τὸν σταυρὸν φέρειν ὄπισθεν τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.

Edified Edition (EDE)And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, who also bewailed and lamented him.

Ἠκολούθει δὲ αὐτῷ πολὺ πλῆθος τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ γυναικῶν ⸀αἳ ἐκόπτοντο καὶ ἐθρήνουν αὐτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): strapheis de pros aytas ⸀ho Ἰesoys eipen· Thygateres Ἰerousalem, me klaiete epʼ eme· plen ephʼ heautas klaiete kai epi ta tekna hymon,
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus, turning to them, said, [JESUS]"Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children."[/JESUS]

στραφεὶς δὲ πρὸς αὐτὰς ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Θυγατέρες Ἰερουσαλήμ, μὴ κλαίετε ἐπʼ ἐμέ· πλὴν ἐφʼ ἑαυτὰς κλαίετε καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν,

Phonetic (Greek): hoti idoy erchontai hemerai en ahis eroysin Makariai ahi steirai kai ⸀ahi koiliai ahi oyk egennesan kai mastoi ohi oyk ⸀ethrepsan.
Edified Edition (EDE)For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

ὅτι ἰδοὺ ἔρχονται ἡμέραι ἐν αἷς ἐροῦσιν Μακάριαι αἱ στεῖραι καὶ ⸀αἱ κοιλίαι αἳ οὐκ ἐγέννησαν καὶ μαστοὶ οἳ οὐκ ⸀ἔθρεψαν.

Phonetic (Greek): tote arxontai legein tois oresin· Pesete ephʼ hemas, kai tois bounois· Kalypsate hemas·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

τότε ἄρξονται λέγειν τοῖς ὄρεσιν· Πέσετε ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς, καὶ τοῖς βουνοῖς· Καλύψατε ἡμᾶς·

Phonetic (Greek): hoti ei en ⸀tῷ hygrῷ xylῳ tayta poioysin, en tῷ xerῷ ti genetai;
Edified Edition (EDE)For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

ὅτι εἰ ἐν ⸀τῷ ὑγρῷ ξύλῳ ταῦτα ποιοῦσιν, ἐν τῷ ξηρῷ τί γένηται;

Phonetic (Greek): Ἤgonto de kai heteroi ⸂kakoyrgoi dyo⸃ syn aytῷ anairethenai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And there were also two others, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

Ἤγοντο δὲ καὶ ἕτεροι ⸂κακοῦργοι δύο⸃ σὺν αὐτῷ ἀναιρεθῆναι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hote ⸀elthon epi ton topon ton kaloymenon Kranion, ekei estayrosan ayton kai toys kakoyrgous, hon men ek dexion hon de ex aristeron.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they were come to the place, who is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

καὶ ὅτε ⸀ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον τὸν καλούμενον Κρανίον, ἐκεῖ ἐσταύρωσαν αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς κακούργους, ὃν μὲν ἐκ δεξιῶν ὃν δὲ ἐξ ἀριστερῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂ho de Ἰesoys elegen· Pater, aphes aytois, oy gar oidasin ti poioysin.⸃ diamerizomenoi de ta himatia aytoy ebalon ⸀klerous.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus said, [JESUS]"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."[/JESUS]

⸂ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἔλεγεν· Πάτερ, ἄφες αὐτοῖς, οὐ γὰρ οἴδασιν τί ποιοῦσιν.⸃ διαμεριζόμενοι δὲ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἔβαλον ⸀κλήρους.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ehistekei ho laos theoron. exemykterizon de kai ohi ⸀archontes legontes· Ἄllous esosen, sosato heauton, ei ohytos estin ho christos ⸂toy theoy, ho⸃ eklektos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

καὶ εἱστήκει ὁ λαὸς θεωρῶν. ἐξεμυκτήριζον δὲ καὶ οἱ ⸀ἄρχοντες λέγοντες· Ἄλλους ἔσωσεν, σωσάτω ἑαυτόν, εἰ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστὸς ⸂τοῦ θεοῦ, ὁ⸃ ἐκλεκτός.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀enepaixan de aytῷ kai ohi stratiotai proserchomenoi, ⸀oxos prospherontes aytῷ
Edified Edition (EDE)And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

⸀ἐνέπαιξαν δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ οἱ στρατιῶται προσερχόμενοι, ⸀ὄξος προσφέροντες αὐτῷ

Edified Edition (EDE)And saying, If you be the king of the Jews, save yourself.

καὶ λέγοντες· Εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων, σῶσον σεαυτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): en de kai ⸀epigraphe epʼ ⸀aytῷ· Ὁ basileys ton Ἰoudaion ⸀ohytos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

ἦν δὲ καὶ ⸀ἐπιγραφὴ ἐπʼ ⸀αὐτῷ· Ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων ⸀οὗτος.

Phonetic (Greek): Ehis de ton kremasthenton kakoyrgon eblasphemei ayton ⸀legon· ⸀Oychi sy ei ho christos; soson seauton kai hemas.
Edified Edition (EDE)And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If you be Christ, save yourself and us.

Εἷς δὲ τῶν κρεμασθέντων κακούργων ἐβλασφήμει αὐτόν ⸀λέγων· ⸀Οὐχὶ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστός; σῶσον σεαυτὸν καὶ ἡμᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): apokritheis de ho heteros ⸂epitimon aytῷ ephe⸃· Oyde phobῇ sy ton theon, hoti en tῷ aytῷ krimati ei;
Edified Edition (EDE)But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not you fear God, seeing you are in the same condemnation?

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἕτερος ⸂ἐπιτιμῶν αὐτῷ ἔφη⸃· Οὐδὲ φοβῇ σὺ τὸν θεόν, ὅτι ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ κρίματι εἶ;

Phonetic (Greek): kai hemeis men dikaios, axia gar hon epraxamen apolambanomen· ohytos de oyden atopon epraxen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man has done nothing amiss.

καὶ ἡμεῖς μὲν δικαίως, ἄξια γὰρ ὧν ἐπράξαμεν ἀπολαμβάνομεν· οὗτος δὲ οὐδὲν ἄτοπον ἔπραξεν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀elegen· Ἰesoy, mnestheti ⸀mou hotan elthῃs ⸂en tῇ basileiᾳ⸃ sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when you comest into your kingdom.

καὶ ⸀ἔλεγεν· Ἰησοῦ, μνήσθητί ⸀μου ὅταν ἔλθῃς ⸂ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ⸃ σου.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipen ⸀aytῷ· Ἀmen ⸂soi lego⸃ semeron metʼ emoy esῃ en tῷ paradeisῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus said to him, [JESUS]"Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."[/JESUS]

καὶ εἶπεν ⸀αὐτῷ· Ἀμήν ⸂σοι λέγω⸃ σήμερον μετʼ ἐμοῦ ἔσῃ ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ.

Edified Edition (EDE)And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

⸂Καὶ ἦν⸃ ⸀ἤδη ὡσεὶ ὥρα ἕκτη καὶ σκότος ἐγένετο ἐφʼ ὅλην τὴν γῆν ἕως ὥρας ἐνάτης

Edified Edition (EDE)And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

⸂τοῦ ἡλίου ἐκλιπόντος⸃, ἐσχίσθη ⸀δὲ τὸ καταπέτασμα τοῦ ναοῦ μέσον.

Phonetic (Greek): kai phonesas phonῇ megalῃ ho Ἰesoys eipen· Pater, eis cheiras sou ⸀paratithemai to pneyma mou. ⸂toyto de⸃ eipon exepneusen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, [JESUS]"Father, 'into Your hands I commit My spirit.'"[/JESUS] Having said this, He breathed His last.

Edified Edition (EDE)So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous Man!"

Ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ ἑκατοντάρχης τὸ γενόμενον ⸀ἐδόξαζεν τὸν θεὸν λέγων· Ὄντως ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος δίκαιος ἦν.
