Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Ἐpeide eplerosen panta ta ῥemata aytoy eis tas akoas toy laoy, eiselthen eis Kapharnaoym.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.

⸀Ἐπειδὴ ἐπλήρωσεν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα αὐτοῦ εἰς τὰς ἀκοὰς τοῦ λαοῦ, εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Καφαρναούμ.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἑkatontarchou de tinos doylos kakos echon emellen teleutan, hos en aytῷ entimos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and ready to die.

Ἑκατοντάρχου δέ τινος δοῦλος κακῶς ἔχων ἤμελλεν τελευτᾶν, ὃς ἦν αὐτῷ ἔντιμος.

Edified Edition (EDE)And when he heard of Jesus, he sent to him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.

ἀκούσας δὲ περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς αὐτὸν πρεσβυτέρους τῶν Ἰουδαίων, ἐρωτῶν αὐτὸν ὅπως ἐλθὼν διασώσῃ τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ.

Edified Edition (EDE)And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

οἱ δὲ παραγενόμενοι πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν σπουδαίως λέγοντες ὅτι Ἄξιός ἐστιν ᾧ ⸀παρέξῃ τοῦτο,

Phonetic (Greek): agapᾷ gar to ethnos hemon kai ten synagogen aytos okodomesen hemin.
Edified Edition (EDE)For he loves our nation, and he has built us a synagogue.

ἀγαπᾷ γὰρ τὸ ἔθνος ἡμῶν καὶ τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτὸς ᾠκοδόμησεν ἡμῖν.

Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, Lord, trouble not yourself: for I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof:

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἐπορεύετο σὺν αὐτοῖς. ἤδη δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐ μακρὰν ἀπέχοντος ἀπὸ τῆς οἰκίας ἔπεμψεν ⸂φίλους ὁ ἑκατοντάρχης⸃ λέγων αὐτῷ· Κύριε, μὴ σκύλλου, οὐ γὰρ ⸂ἱκανός εἰμι⸃ ἵνα ὑπὸ τὴν στέγην μου εἰσέλθῃς·

Edified Edition (EDE)Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come to you: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

διὸ οὐδὲ ἐμαυτὸν ἠξίωσα πρὸς σὲ ἐλθεῖν· ἀλλὰ εἰπὲ λόγῳ, καὶ ⸀ἰαθήτω ὁ παῖς μου·

Phonetic (Greek): kai gar ego anthropos eimi hypo exousian tassomenos, echon hypʼ emauton stratiotas, kai lego toytῳ· Poreytheti, kai poreyetai, kai allῳ· Ἔrchou, kai erchetai, kai tῷ doylῳ mou· Poieson toyto, kai poiei.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπός εἰμι ὑπὸ ἐξουσίαν τασσόμενος, ἔχων ὑπʼ ἐμαυτὸν στρατιώτας, καὶ λέγω τούτῳ· Πορεύθητι, καὶ πορεύεται, καὶ ἄλλῳ· Ἔρχου, καὶ ἔρχεται, καὶ τῷ δούλῳ μου· Ποίησον τοῦτο, καὶ ποιεῖ.

Phonetic (Greek): akoysas de tayta ho Ἰesoys ethaymasen ayton, kai strapheis tῷ akolouthoynti aytῷ ochlῳ eipen· Lego hymin, ⸀oyde en tῷ Ἰsrael tosayten pistin ehyron.
Edified Edition (EDE)When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled at him, and turned around and said to the multitude that followed Him, [JESUS]"I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"[/JESUS]

ἀκούσας δὲ ταῦτα ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐθαύμασεν αὐτόν, καὶ στραφεὶς τῷ ἀκολουθοῦντι αὐτῷ ὄχλῳ εἶπεν· Λέγω ὑμῖν, ⸀οὐδὲ ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ τοσαύτην πίστιν εὗρον.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hypostrepsantes ⸂eis ton oikon ohi pemphthentes⸃ ehyron ⸀ton doylon hygiainonta.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

καὶ ὑποστρέψαντες ⸂εἰς τὸν οἶκον οἱ πεμφθέντες⸃ εὗρον ⸀τὸν δοῦλον ὑγιαίνοντα.

Edified Edition (EDE)And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἑξῆς ⸀ἐπορεύθη εἰς πόλιν καλουμένην Ναΐν, καὶ συνεπορεύοντο αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ ⸀αὐτοῦ καὶ ὄχλος πολύς.

Phonetic (Greek): hos de engisen tῇ pylῃ tes poleos, kai idoy exekomizeto tethnekos ⸂monogenes yhios⸃ tῇ metri aytoy, kai ayte ⸀en chera, kai ochlos tes poleos hikanos ⸁en syn aytῇ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

ὡς δὲ ἤγγισεν τῇ πύλῃ τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐξεκομίζετο τεθνηκὼς ⸂μονογενὴς υἱὸς⸃ τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτὴ ⸀ἦν χήρα, καὶ ὄχλος τῆς πόλεως ἱκανὸς ⸁ἦν σὺν αὐτῇ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idon ayten ho kyrios esplanchnisthe epʼ aytῇ kai eipen aytῇ· Me klaie.
Edified Edition (EDE)When the LORD saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, [JESUS]"Do not weep."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὴν ὁ κύριος ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπʼ αὐτῇ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Μὴ κλαῖε.

Phonetic (Greek): kai proselthon hepsato tes soroy, ohi de bastazontes estesan, kai eipen· Neaniske, soi lego, egertheti.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, [JESUS]"Young man, I say to you, arise."[/JESUS]

καὶ προσελθὼν ἥψατο τῆς σοροῦ, οἱ δὲ βαστάζοντες ἔστησαν, καὶ εἶπεν· Νεανίσκε, σοὶ λέγω, ἐγέρθητι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai anekathisen ho nekros kai erxato lalein, kai edoken ayton tῇ metri aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

καὶ ἀνεκάθισεν ὁ νεκρὸς καὶ ἤρξατο λαλεῖν, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): elaben de phobos pantas, kai edoxazon ton theon legontes hoti Prophetes megas ⸀egerthe en hemin, kai hoti Ἐpeskepsato ho theos ton laon aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God has visited his people.

ἔλαβεν δὲ φόβος πάντας, καὶ ἐδόξαζον τὸν θεὸν λέγοντες ὅτι Προφήτης μέγας ⸀ἠγέρθη ἐν ἡμῖν, καὶ ὅτι Ἐπεσκέψατο ὁ θεὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai exelthen ho logos ohytos en holῃ tῇ Ἰoudaiᾳ peri aytoy ⸀kai pasῃ tῇ perichorῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.

καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ λόγος οὗτος ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ περὶ αὐτοῦ ⸀καὶ πάσῃ τῇ περιχώρῳ.

Edified Edition (EDE)And the disciples of John showed him of all these things.

Καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν Ἰωάννῃ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ περὶ πάντων τούτων. καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος δύο τινὰς τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ὁ Ἰωάννης

Phonetic (Greek): epempsen pros ton ⸀kyrion legon· Sy ei ho erchomenos e ⸀allon prosdokomen;
Edified Edition (EDE)And John calling to him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, are you he that should come? or look we for another?

ἔπεμψεν πρὸς τὸν ⸀κύριον λέγων· Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ⸀ἄλλον προσδοκῶμεν;

Edified Edition (EDE)When the men were come to him, they said, John Baptist has sent us to you, saying, are you he that should come? or look we for another?

παραγενόμενοι δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες εἶπαν· Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστὴς ⸀ἀπέστειλεν ἡμᾶς πρὸς σὲ λέγων· Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἄλλον προσδοκῶμεν;

Phonetic (Greek): en ⸀ekeinῃ tῇ horᾳ etherapeusen polloys apo noson kai mastigon kai pneumaton poneron, kai typhlois pollois ⸀echarisato blepein.
Edified Edition (EDE)And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and to many that were blind he gave sight.

ἐν ⸀ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐθεράπευσεν πολλοὺς ἀπὸ νόσων καὶ μαστίγων καὶ πνευμάτων πονηρῶν, καὶ τυφλοῖς πολλοῖς ⸀ἐχαρίσατο βλέπειν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀apokritheis eipen aytois· Poreuthentes apangeilate Ἰoannῃ ha eidete kai ekoysate· ⸀typhloi anablepousin, choloi peripatoysin, leproi katharizontai, ⸀kophoi akoyousin, nekroi egeirontai, ptochoi eyangelizontai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus answered and said to them, [JESUS]"Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the gospel is preached to the poor."[/JESUS]

καὶ ⸀ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Πορευθέντες ἀπαγγείλατε Ἰωάννῃ ἃ εἴδετε καὶ ἠκούσατε· ⸀τυφλοὶ ἀναβλέπουσιν, χωλοὶ περιπατοῦσιν, λεπροὶ καθαρίζονται, ⸀κωφοὶ ἀκούουσιν, νεκροὶ ἐγείρονται, πτωχοὶ εὐαγγελίζονται·

Phonetic (Greek): kai makarios estin hos ean me skandalisthῇ en emoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)And blessed is he, whoever shall not be offended in me.

καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀpelthonton de ton angelon Ἰoannou erxato legein ⸂pros toys ochlous⸃ peri Ἰoannou· Ti ⸀exelthate eis ten eremon theasasthai; kalamon hypo anemou saleuomenon;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak to the people concerning John, What went you out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

Ἀπελθόντων δὲ τῶν ἀγγέλων Ἰωάννου ἤρξατο λέγειν ⸂πρὸς τοὺς ὄχλους⸃ περὶ Ἰωάννου· Τί ⸀ἐξήλθατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεάσασθαι; κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου σαλευόμενον;

Phonetic (Greek): alla ti ⸀exelthate idein; anthropon en malakois himatiois emphiesmenon; idoy ohi en himatismῷ endoxῳ kai tryphῇ hyparchontes en tois basileiois eisin.
Edified Edition (EDE)But what went you out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings courts.

ἀλλὰ τί ⸀ἐξήλθατε ἰδεῖν; ἄνθρωπον ἐν μαλακοῖς ἱματίοις ἠμφιεσμένον; ἰδοὺ οἱ ἐν ἱματισμῷ ἐνδόξῳ καὶ τρυφῇ ὑπάρχοντες ἐν τοῖς βασιλείοις εἰσίν.

Phonetic (Greek): alla ti ⸀exelthate idein; propheten; nai, lego hymin, kai perissoteron prophetou.
Edified Edition (EDE)But what went you out for to see? A prophet? yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet.

ἀλλὰ τί ⸀ἐξήλθατε ἰδεῖν; προφήτην; ναί, λέγω ὑμῖν, καὶ περισσότερον προφήτου.

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos estin peri ohy gegraptai· ⸀Ἰdoy apostello ton angelon mou pro prosopou sou, hos kataskeuasei ten hodon sou emprosthen sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you.

οὗτός ἐστιν περὶ οὗ γέγραπται· ⸀Ἰδοὺ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου, ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου ἔμπροσθέν σου.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀lego hymin, meizon en gennetois gynaikon ⸀Ἰoannou oydeis estin· ho de mikroteros en tῇ basileiᾳ toy theoy meizon aytoy estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I say to you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

⸀λέγω ὑμῖν, μείζων ἐν γεννητοῖς γυναικῶν ⸀Ἰωάννου οὐδείς ἐστιν· ὁ δὲ μικρότερος ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ μείζων αὐτοῦ ἐστιν.

Phonetic (Greek): (kai pas ho laos akoysas kai ohi telonai edikaiosan ton theon, baptisthentes to baptisma Ἰoannou·
Edified Edition (EDE)And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptised with the baptism of John.

(καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἀκούσας καὶ οἱ τελῶναι ἐδικαίωσαν τὸν θεόν, βαπτισθέντες τὸ βάπτισμα Ἰωάννου·

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de Pharisaioi kai ohi nomikoi ten boulen toy theoy ethetesan eis heautoys, me baptisthentes hypʼ aytoy.)
Edified Edition (EDE)But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptised of him.

οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ νομικοὶ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θεοῦ ἠθέτησαν εἰς ἑαυτούς, μὴ βαπτισθέντες ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ.)

Phonetic (Greek): Tini oyn homoioso toys anthropous tes geneas taytes, kai tini eisin homoioi;
Edified Edition (EDE)And the Lord said, To what then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

Τίνι οὖν ὁμοιώσω τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης, καὶ τίνι εἰσὶν ὅμοιοι;

Phonetic (Greek): homoioi eisin paidiois tois en agorᾷ kathemenois kai prosphonoysin allelois, ⸂ha legei⸃· Eylesamen hymin kai oyk orchesasthe· ⸀ethrenesamen kai oyk eklaysate·
Edified Edition (EDE)They are like to children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped to you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not wept.

ὅμοιοί εἰσιν παιδίοις τοῖς ἐν ἀγορᾷ καθημένοις καὶ προσφωνοῦσιν ἀλλήλοις, ⸂ἃ λέγει⸃· Ηὐλήσαμεν ὑμῖν καὶ οὐκ ὠρχήσασθε· ⸀ἐθρηνήσαμεν καὶ οὐκ ἐκλαύσατε·

Phonetic (Greek): elelythen gar Ἰoannes ho baptistes ⸀me ⸂esthion arton mete pinon oinon⸃, kai legete· Daimonion echei·
Edified Edition (EDE)For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, He has a devil.

ἐλήλυθεν γὰρ Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστὴς ⸀μὴ ⸂ἐσθίων ἄρτον μήτε πίνων οἶνον⸃, καὶ λέγετε· Δαιμόνιον ἔχει·

Phonetic (Greek): elelythen ho yhios toy anthropou esthion kai pinon, kai legete· Ἰdoy anthropos phagos kai oinopotes, philos telonon kai hamartolon.
Edified Edition (EDE)The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and you say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

ἐλήλυθεν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐσθίων καὶ πίνων, καὶ λέγετε· Ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος φάγος καὶ οἰνοπότης, φίλος τελωνῶν καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai edikaiothe he sophia apo ⸂panton ton teknon aytes⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)But wisdom is justified of all her children.

καὶ ἐδικαιώθη ἡ σοφία ἀπὸ ⸂πάντων τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἠrota de tis ayton ton Pharisaion hina phagῃ metʼ aytoy· kai eiselthon eis ⸂ton oikon⸃ toy Pharisaiou ⸀kateklithe.
Edified Edition (EDE)And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.

Ἠρώτα δέ τις αὐτὸν τῶν Φαρισαίων ἵνα φάγῃ μετʼ αὐτοῦ· καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς ⸂τὸν οἶκον⸃ τοῦ Φαρισαίου ⸀κατεκλίθη.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idoy gyne ⸂hetis en en tῇ polei⸃ hamartolos, ⸀kai epignoysa hoti ⸀katakeitai en tῇ oikiᾳ toy Pharisaiou, komisasa alabastron myrou
Edified Edition (EDE)And, behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ ⸂ἥτις ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει⸃ ἁμαρτωλός, ⸀καὶ ἐπιγνοῦσα ὅτι ⸀κατάκειται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ τοῦ Φαρισαίου, κομίσασα ἀλάβαστρον μύρου

Phonetic (Greek): kai stasa ⸂opiso para toys podas aytoy⸃ klaiousa, ⸂tois dakrysin erxato brechein toys podas aytoy⸃ kai tais thrixin tes kephales aytes exemassen, kai katephilei toys podas aytoy kai eleiphen tῷ myrῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

καὶ στᾶσα ⸂ὀπίσω παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ⸃ κλαίουσα, ⸂τοῖς δάκρυσιν ἤρξατο βρέχειν τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ⸃ καὶ ταῖς θριξὶν τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτῆς ἐξέμασσεν, καὶ κατεφίλει τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤλειφεν τῷ μύρῳ.

Phonetic (Greek): idon de ho Pharisaios ho kalesas ayton eipen en heautῷ legon· Ohytos ei ⸀en prophetes, eginosken an tis kai potape he gyne hetis haptetai aytoy, hoti hamartolos estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to you. And he says, Master, say on.

Edified Edition (EDE)And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, who of them will love him most?

Edified Edition (EDE)And he turned to the woman, and said to Simon, See you this woman? I entered into your house, you gavest me no water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

καὶ στραφεὶς πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα τῷ Σίμωνι ἔφη· Βλέπεις ταύτην τὴν γυναῖκα; εἰσῆλθόν σου εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν, ὕδωρ ⸀μοι ἐπὶ ⸀πόδας οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δὲ τοῖς δάκρυσιν ἔβρεξέν μου τοὺς πόδας καὶ ταῖς ⸀θριξὶν αὐτῆς ἐξέμαξεν.

φίλημά μοι οὐκ ἔδωκας· αὕτη δὲ ἀφʼ ἧς εἰσῆλθον οὐ διέλιπεν καταφιλοῦσά μου τοὺς πόδας.
