Phonetic (Greek): Kai elthon eis to peran tes thalasses eis ten choran ton ⸀Gerasenon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.

Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν ⸀Γερασηνῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂exelthontos aytoy⸃ ek toy ploiou ⸂eythys hypentesen⸃ aytῷ ek ton mnemeion anthropos en pneymati akathartῳ,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

καὶ ⸂ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου ⸂εὐθὺς ὑπήντησεν⸃ αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ,

Phonetic (Greek): hos ten katoikesin eichen en tois mnemasin, kai ⸂oyde halysei oyketi⸃ oydeis edynato ayton desai
Edified Edition (EDE)Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν ἐν τοῖς μνήμασιν, καὶ ⸂οὐδὲ ἁλύσει οὐκέτι⸃ οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαι

Phonetic (Greek): dia to ayton pollakis pedais kai halysesi dedesthai kai diespasthai hypʼ aytoy tas halyseis kai tas pedas syntetriphthai, kai oydeis ⸂ischyen ayton⸃ damasai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ⸂ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν⸃ δαμάσαι·

Phonetic (Greek): kai dia pantos nyktos kai hemeras en tois ⸂mnemasin kai en tois oresin⸃ en krazon kai katakopton heauton lithois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐν τοῖς ⸂μνήμασιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν⸃ ἦν κράζων καὶ κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂kai idon⸃ ton Ἰesoyn apo makrothen edramen kai prosekynesen ⸀ayton,
Edified Edition (EDE)But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

⸂καὶ ἰδὼν⸃ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ⸀αὐτόν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai kraxas phonῇ megalῃ ⸀legei· Ti emoi kai soi, Ἰesoy yhie toy theoy toy hypsistou; horkizo se ton theon, me me basanisῃs.
Edified Edition (EDE)And cried with a loud voice, and said, "What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, that you torment me not."

καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ⸀λέγει· Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου; ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεόν, μή με βασανίσῃς.

Phonetic (Greek): elegen gar aytῷ· Ἔxelthe to pneyma to akatharton ek toy anthropou.
Edified Edition (EDE)For He said to him, [JESUS]"Come out of the man, unclean spirit!"[/JESUS]

ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ· Ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eperota ayton· Ti ⸂onoma soi⸃; kai ⸂legei aytῷ⸃· ⸀Legion onoma moi, hoti polloi esmen·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He asked him, [JESUS]"What is your name?"[/JESUS] And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion; for we are many."

καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· Τί ⸂ὄνομά σοι⸃; καὶ ⸂λέγει αὐτῷ⸃· ⸀Λεγιὼν ὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai parekalei ayton polla hina me ⸀ayta aposteilῃ exo tes choras.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ ἵνα μὴ ⸀αὐτὰ ἀποστείλῃ ἔξω τῆς χώρας.

Phonetic (Greek): en de ekei pros tῷ orei agele choiron megale boskomene·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now there was there nigh to the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῷ ὄρει ἀγέλη χοίρων μεγάλη βοσκομένη·

Phonetic (Greek): kai parekalesan ⸀ayton legontes· Pempson hemas eis toys choirous, hina eis aytoys eiselthomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And all the demons besought him, saying, "Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them."

καὶ παρεκάλεσαν ⸀αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai epetrepsen ⸀aytois. kai exelthonta ta pneymata ta akatharta eiselthon eis toys choirous, kai hormesen he agele kata toy kremnoy eis ten thalassan, ⸀hos dischilioi, kai epnigonto en tῇ thalassῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν ⸀αὐτοῖς. καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ⸀ὡς δισχίλιοι, καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Kai ohi⸃ boskontes ⸀aytoys ephygon kai ⸀apengeilan eis ten polin kai eis toys agroys· kai ⸀elthon idein ti estin to gegonos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

⸂Καὶ οἱ⸃ βόσκοντες ⸀αὐτοὺς ἔφυγον καὶ ⸀ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς· καὶ ⸀ἦλθον ἰδεῖν τί ἐστιν τὸ γεγονός.

Phonetic (Greek): kai erchontai pros ton Ἰesoyn, kai theoroysin ton daimonizomenon ⸀kathemenon himatismenon kai sophronoynta, ton eschekota ton ⸀legiona, kai ephobethesan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

καὶ ἔρχονται πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ θεωροῦσιν τὸν δαιμονιζόμενον ⸀καθήμενον ἱματισμένον καὶ σωφρονοῦντα, τὸν ἐσχηκότα τὸν ⸀λεγιῶνα, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂kai diegesanto⸃ aytois ohi idontes pos egeneto tῷ daimonizomenῳ kai peri ton choiron.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

⸂καὶ διηγήσαντο⸃ αὐτοῖς οἱ ἰδόντες πῶς ἐγένετο τῷ δαιμονιζομένῳ καὶ περὶ τῶν χοίρων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai erxanto parakalein ayton apelthein apo ton horion ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

καὶ ἤρξαντο παρακαλεῖν αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀embainontos aytoy eis to ploion parekalei ayton ho daimonistheis hina ⸂metʼ aytoy e⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

καὶ ⸀ἐμβαίνοντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον παρεκάλει αὐτὸν ὁ δαιμονισθεὶς ἵνα ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ ᾖ⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀kai oyk apheken ayton, alla legei aytῷ· Ὕpage eis ton oikon sou pros toys soys, kai ⸀apangeilon aytois hosa ⸂ho kyrios soi⸃ pepoieken kai eleesen se.
Edified Edition (EDE)However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, [JESUS]"Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the LORD has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."[/JESUS]

⸀καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν, ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σούς, καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλον αὐτοῖς ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι⸃ πεποίηκεν καὶ ἠλέησέν σε.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apelthen kai erxato keryssein en tῇ Dekapolei hosa epoiesen aytῷ ho Ἰesoys, kai pantes ethaymazon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai diaperasantos toy Ἰesoy en tῷ ploiῳ palin eis to peran synechthe ochlos polys epʼ ayton, kai en para ten thalassan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Jesus was passed over again by ship to the other side, much people gathered to him: and he was nigh to the sea.

Καὶ διαπεράσαντος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ πάλιν εἰς τὸ πέραν συνήχθη ὄχλος πολὺς ἐπʼ αὐτόν, καὶ ἦν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀kai erchetai ehis ton archisynagogon, onomati Ἰairos, kai idon ayton piptei pros toys podas aytoy
Edified Edition (EDE)And, behold, there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

⸀καὶ ἔρχεται εἷς τῶν ἀρχισυναγώγων, ὀνόματι Ἰάϊρος, καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν πίπτει πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀parakalei ayton polla legon hoti To thygatrion mou eschatos echei, hina elthon epithῇs ⸂tas cheiras aytῇ⸃ ⸀hina sothῇ kai ⸀zesῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And besought him greatly, saying, "My little daughter lies at the point of death: I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live."

καὶ ⸀παρακαλεῖ αὐτὸν πολλὰ λέγων ὅτι Τὸ θυγάτριόν μου ἐσχάτως ἔχει, ἵνα ἐλθὼν ἐπιθῇς ⸂τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῇ⸃ ⸀ἵνα σωθῇ καὶ ⸀ζήσῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apelthen metʼ aytoy. Kai ekoloythei aytῷ ochlos polys, kai synethlibon ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

καὶ ἀπῆλθεν μετʼ αὐτοῦ. Καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς, καὶ συνέθλιβον αὐτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀gyne oysa en ῥysei ahimatos ⸂dodeka ete⸃
Edified Edition (EDE)And a certain woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years,

καὶ ⸀γυνὴ οὖσα ἐν ῥύσει αἵματος ⸂δώδεκα ἔτη⸃

Phonetic (Greek): kai polla pathoysa hypo pollon iatron kai dapanesasa ta parʼ aytes panta kai meden opheletheisa alla mallon eis to cheiron elthoysa,
Edified Edition (EDE)And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

καὶ πολλὰ παθοῦσα ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἰατρῶν καὶ δαπανήσασα τὰ παρʼ αὐτῆς πάντα καὶ μηδὲν ὠφεληθεῖσα ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εἰς τὸ χεῖρον ἐλθοῦσα,

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀akoysasa peri toy Ἰesoy, elthoysa en tῷ ochlῳ opisthen hepsato toy himatiou aytoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

⸀ἀκούσασα περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ὄπισθεν ἥψατο τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): elegen gar hoti ⸂Ἐan hapsomai kan ton himation aytoy⸃ sothesomai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For she said, "If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole."

ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὅτι ⸂Ἐὰν ἅψωμαι κἂν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ⸃ σωθήσομαι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀eythys exeranthe he pege toy ahimatos aytes, kai egno tῷ somati hoti iatai apo tes mastigos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἐξηράνθη ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔγνω τῷ σώματι ὅτι ἴαται ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγος.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀eythys ho Ἰesoys epignoys en heautῷ ten ex aytoy dynamin exelthoysan epistrapheis en tῷ ochlῳ elegen· Tis mou hepsato ton himation;
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the press, and said, [JESUS]"Who touched My clothes?"[/JESUS]

καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐπιγνοὺς ἐν ἑαυτῷ τὴν ἐξ αὐτοῦ δύναμιν ἐξελθοῦσαν ἐπιστραφεὶς ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ἔλεγεν· Τίς μου ἥψατο τῶν ἱματίων;

Phonetic (Greek): kai elegon aytῷ ohi mathetai aytoy· Blepeis ton ochlon synthlibonta se, kai legeis· Tis mou hepsato;
Edified Edition (EDE)And His disciples said to Him, "You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?'"

καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· Βλέπεις τὸν ὄχλον συνθλίβοντά σε, καὶ λέγεις· Τίς μου ἥψατο;

Phonetic (Greek): kai perieblepeto idein ten toyto poiesasan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

καὶ περιεβλέπετο ἰδεῖν τὴν τοῦτο ποιήσασαν.

33
Phonetic (Greek): he de gyne phobetheisa kai tremousa, eidyia ho gegonen ⸀aytῇ, elthen kai prosepesen aytῷ kai eipen aytῷ pasan ten aletheian.
Edified Edition (EDE)But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

ἡ δὲ γυνὴ φοβηθεῖσα καὶ τρέμουσα, εἰδυῖα ὃ γέγονεν ⸀αὐτῇ, ἦλθεν καὶ προσέπεσεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀλήθειαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen aytῇ· ⸀Thygater, he pistis sou sesoken se· hypage eis eirenen, kai isthi hygies apo tes mastigos sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He said to her, [JESUS]"Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· ⸀Θυγάτηρ, ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε· ὕπαγε εἰς εἰρήνην, καὶ ἴσθι ὑγιὴς ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγός σου.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἔti aytoy laloyntos erchontai apo toy archisynagogou legontes hoti Ἡ thygater sou apethanen· ti eti skylleis ton didaskalon;
Edified Edition (EDE)While He yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain individuals who said, "Your daughter is dead: why trouble the Master any further?"

Ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχονται ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγοντες ὅτι Ἡ θυγάτηρ σου ἀπέθανεν· τί ἔτι σκύλλεις τὸν διδάσκαλον;

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἰesoys ⸀parakoysas ton logon laloymenon legei tῷ archisynagogῳ· Me phoboy, monon pisteue.
Edified Edition (EDE)As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, [JESUS]"Do not be afraid; only believe."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸀παρακούσας τὸν λόγον λαλούμενον λέγει τῷ ἀρχισυναγώγῳ· Μὴ φοβοῦ, μόνον πίστευε.

Phonetic (Greek): kai oyk apheken oydena ⸂metʼ aytoy⸃ synakolouthesai ei me ⸀ton Petron kai Ἰakobon kai Ἰoannen ton adelphon Ἰakobou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν οὐδένα ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ⸃ συνακολουθῆσαι εἰ μὴ ⸀τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν Ἰακώβου.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀erchontai eis ton oikon toy archisynagogou, kai theorei thorybon ⸀kai klaiontas kai alalazontas polla,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

καὶ ⸀ἔρχονται εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου, καὶ θεωρεῖ θόρυβον ⸀καὶ κλαίοντας καὶ ἀλαλάζοντας πολλά,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eiselthon legei aytois· Ti thorybeisthe kai klaiete; to paidion oyk apethanen alla katheydei.
Edified Edition (EDE)When He came in, He said to them, [JESUS]"Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping."[/JESUS]

καὶ εἰσελθὼν λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τί θορυβεῖσθε καὶ κλαίετε; τὸ παιδίον οὐκ ἀπέθανεν ἀλλὰ καθεύδει.

Phonetic (Greek): kai kategelon aytoy. ⸀aytos de ekbalon pantas paralambanei ton patera toy paidiou kai ten metera kai toys metʼ aytoy, kai eisporeyetai hopou en to ⸀paidion·
Edified Edition (EDE)And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he takes the father and the mother of the girl, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the girl was lying.

καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ. ⸀αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκβαλὼν πάντας παραλαμβάνει τὸν πατέρα τοῦ παιδίου καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τοὺς μετʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἰσπορεύεται ὅπου ἦν τὸ ⸀παιδίον·

Phonetic (Greek): kai kratesas tes cheiros toy paidiou legei aytῇ· Talitha ⸀koum, ho estin methermeneuomenon· To korasion, soi lego, ⸀egeire.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He took the girl by the hand, and said to her, [JESUS]"Talitha, cumi,"[/JESUS] which is translated, [JESUS]"Little girl, I say to you, arise."[/JESUS]

καὶ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ παιδίου λέγει αὐτῇ· Ταλιθα ⸀κουμ, ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον· Τὸ κοράσιον, σοὶ λέγω, ⸀ἔγειρε.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀eythys aneste to korasion kai periepatei, en gar eton dodeka. kai exestesan ⸁eythys ekstasei megalῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.

καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἀνέστη τὸ κοράσιον καὶ περιεπάτει, ἦν γὰρ ἐτῶν δώδεκα. καὶ ἐξέστησαν ⸁εὐθὺς ἐκστάσει μεγάλῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai diesteilato aytois polla hina medeis gnoi toyto, kai eipen dothenai aytῇ phagein.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

καὶ διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς πολλὰ ἵνα μηδεὶς γνοῖ τοῦτο, καὶ εἶπεν δοθῆναι αὐτῇ φαγεῖν.
