Phonetic (Greek): Kai exelthen ekeithen, kai ⸀erchetai eis ten patrida aytoy, kai akolouthoysin aytῷ ohi mathetai aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.

Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν, καὶ ⸀ἔρχεται εἰς τὴν πατρίδα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀκολουθοῦσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai genomenou sabbatou erxato ⸂didaskein en tῇ synagogῇ⸃· kai ⸀ohi polloi akoyontes exeplessonto legontes· Pothen toytῳ tayta, kai tis he sophia he dotheisa ⸀toytῳ, kai ⸀ahi dynameis toiaytai dia ton cheiron aytoy ⸀ginomenai;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, "From where has this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given to him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?"

καὶ γενομένου σαββάτου ἤρξατο ⸂διδάσκειν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ⸃· καὶ ⸀οἱ πολλοὶ ἀκούοντες ἐξεπλήσσοντο λέγοντες· Πόθεν τούτῳ ταῦτα, καὶ τίς ἡ σοφία ἡ δοθεῖσα ⸀τούτῳ, καὶ ⸀αἱ δυνάμεις τοιαῦται διὰ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ ⸀γινόμεναι;

Phonetic (Greek): oych ohytos estin ho tekton, ho yhios ⸀tes Marias ⸂kai adelphos⸃ Ἰakobou kai ⸀Ἰosetos kai Ἰoyda kai Simonos; kai oyk eisin ahi adelphai aytoy hode pros hemas; kai eskandalizonto en aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us?" And they were offended at him.

οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τέκτων, ὁ υἱὸς ⸀τῆς Μαρίας ⸂καὶ ἀδελφὸς⸃ Ἰακώβου καὶ ⸀Ἰωσῆτος καὶ Ἰούδα καὶ Σίμωνος; καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ ὧδε πρὸς ἡμᾶς; καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂kai elegen⸃ aytois ho Ἰesoys hoti Oyk estin prophetes atimos ei me en tῇ patridi aytoy kai en tois ⸂syngeneysin aytoy⸃ kai en tῇ oikiᾳ aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus said to them, [JESUS]"A prophet is not without honour except in his own hometown, among his own relatives, and in his own house."[/JESUS]

⸂καὶ ἔλεγεν⸃ αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν προφήτης ἄτιμος εἰ μὴ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τοῖς ⸂συγγενεῦσιν αὐτοῦ⸃ καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai oyk edynato ekei ⸂poiesai oydemian dynamin⸃, ei me oligois arrostois epitheis tas cheiras etherapeusen·
Edified Edition (EDE)And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

καὶ οὐκ ἐδύνατο ἐκεῖ ⸂ποιῆσαι οὐδεμίαν δύναμιν⸃, εἰ μὴ ὀλίγοις ἀρρώστοις ἐπιθεὶς τὰς χεῖρας ἐθεράπευσεν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀ethaymazen dia ten apistian ayton. Kai periegen tas komas kyklῳ didaskon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

καὶ ⸀ἐθαύμαζεν διὰ τὴν ἀπιστίαν αὐτῶν. Καὶ περιῆγεν τὰς κώμας κύκλῳ διδάσκων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai proskaleitai toys dodeka, kai erxato aytoys apostellein dyo dyo, kai edidou aytois exousian ton pneumaton ton akatharton,
Edified Edition (EDE)And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

καὶ προσκαλεῖται τοὺς δώδεκα, καὶ ἤρξατο αὐτοὺς ἀποστέλλειν δύο δύο, καὶ ἐδίδου αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν τῶν πνευμάτων τῶν ἀκαθάρτων,

Phonetic (Greek): kai parengeilen aytois hina meden airosin eis hodon ei me ῥabdon monon, me ⸂arton, me peran⸃, me eis ten zonen chalkon,
Edified Edition (EDE)And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

καὶ παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδὲν αἴρωσιν εἰς ὁδὸν εἰ μὴ ῥάβδον μόνον, μὴ ⸂ἄρτον, μὴ πήραν⸃, μὴ εἰς τὴν ζώνην χαλκόν,

Phonetic (Greek): alla hypodedemenous sandalia, kai me ⸀endysesthe dyo chitonas.
Edified Edition (EDE)But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

ἀλλὰ ὑποδεδεμένους σανδάλια, καὶ μὴ ⸀ἐνδύσησθε δύο χιτῶνας.

Phonetic (Greek): kai elegen aytois· Ὅpou ⸀ean eiselthete eis oikian, ekei menete heos an exelthete ekeithen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Also He said to them, [JESUS]"In whatever place you enter a house, stay there until you depart from that place."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Ὅπου ⸀ἐὰν εἰσέλθητε εἰς οἰκίαν, ἐκεῖ μένετε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε ἐκεῖθεν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂hos an topos me dexetai⸃ hymas mede akoysosin hymon, ekporeuomenoi ekeithen ektinaxate ton choyn ton hypokato ton podon hymon eis martyrion ⸀aytois.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgement, than for that city."[/JESUS]

καὶ ⸂ὃς ἂν τόπος μὴ δέξηται⸃ ὑμᾶς μηδὲ ἀκούσωσιν ὑμῶν, ἐκπορευόμενοι ἐκεῖθεν ἐκτινάξατε τὸν χοῦν τὸν ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν εἰς μαρτύριον ⸀αὐτοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai exelthontes ⸀ekeryxan hina ⸀metanoosin,
Edified Edition (EDE)And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

Καὶ ἐξελθόντες ⸀ἐκήρυξαν ἵνα ⸀μετανοῶσιν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai daimonia polla exeballon, kai eleiphon elaiῳ polloys arrostous kai etherapeuon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

καὶ δαιμόνια πολλὰ ἐξέβαλλον, καὶ ἤλειφον ἐλαίῳ πολλοὺς ἀρρώστους καὶ ἐθεράπευον.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ekousen ho basileys Ἡrῴdes, phaneron gar egeneto to onoma aytoy, kai ⸀elegon hoti Ἰoannes ho baptizon ⸂egegertai ek nekron⸃, kai dia toyto energoysin ahi dynameis en aytῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, "That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him."

Καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἡρῴδης, φανερὸν γὰρ ἐγένετο τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ⸀ἔλεγον ὅτι Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτίζων ⸂ἐγήγερται ἐκ νεκρῶν⸃, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἐνεργοῦσιν αἱ δυνάμεις ἐν αὐτῷ·

Phonetic (Greek): alloi ⸀de elegon hoti Ἠlias estin· alloi de elegon hoti ⸀prophetes hos ehis ton propheton.
Edified Edition (EDE)Others said, "That it is Elijah." And others said, "That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets."

ἄλλοι ⸀δὲ ἔλεγον ὅτι Ἠλίας ἐστίν· ἄλλοι δὲ ἔλεγον ὅτι ⸀προφήτης ὡς εἷς τῶν προφητῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): akoysas de ⸀ho Ἡrῴdes ⸀elegen· Ὃn ego apekephalisa Ἰoannen, ohytos ⸀egerthe.
Edified Edition (EDE)But when Herod heard thereof, he said, "It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead."

ἀκούσας δὲ ⸀ὁ Ἡρῴδης ⸀ἔλεγεν· Ὃν ἐγὼ ἀπεκεφάλισα Ἰωάννην, οὗτος ⸀ἠγέρθη.

Phonetic (Greek): Aytos gar ho Ἡrῴdes aposteilas ekratesen ton Ἰoannen kai edesen ayton en phylakῇ dia Ἡrῳdiada ten gynaika Philippou toy adelphoy aytoy, hoti ayten egamesen·
Edified Edition (EDE)For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her.

Αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ Ἡρῴδης ἀποστείλας ἐκράτησεν τὸν Ἰωάννην καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν φυλακῇ διὰ Ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα Φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ, ὅτι αὐτὴν ἐγάμησεν·

Phonetic (Greek): elegen gar ho Ἰoannes tῷ Ἡrῴdῃ hoti Oyk exestin soi echein ten gynaika toy adelphoy sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife."

ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὁ Ἰωάννης τῷ Ἡρῴδῃ ὅτι Οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου.

Phonetic (Greek): he de Ἡrῳdias eneichen aytῷ kai ethelen ayton apokteinai, kai oyk edynato·
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

ἡ δὲ Ἡρῳδιὰς ἐνεῖχεν αὐτῷ καὶ ἤθελεν αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο·

Phonetic (Greek): ho gar Ἡrῴdes ephobeito ton Ἰoannen, eidos ayton andra dikaion kai hagion, kai syneterei ayton, kai akoysas aytoy polla ⸀eporei, kai hedeos aytoy ekouen.
Edified Edition (EDE)For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

ὁ γὰρ Ἡρῴδης ἐφοβεῖτο τὸν Ἰωάννην, εἰδὼς αὐτὸν ἄνδρα δίκαιον καὶ ἅγιον, καὶ συνετήρει αὐτόν, καὶ ἀκούσας αὐτοῦ πολλὰ ⸀ἠπόρει, καὶ ἡδέως αὐτοῦ ἤκουεν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai genomenes hemeras eykairou hote Ἡrῴdes tois genesiois aytoy deipnon ⸀epoiesen tois megistasin aytoy kai tois chiliarchois kai tois protois tes Galilaias,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

Καὶ γενομένης ἡμέρας εὐκαίρου ὅτε Ἡρῴδης τοῖς γενεσίοις αὐτοῦ δεῖπνον ⸀ἐποίησεν τοῖς μεγιστᾶσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῖς χιλιάρχοις καὶ τοῖς πρώτοις τῆς Γαλιλαίας,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eiselthoyses tes thygatros ⸂aytes tes⸃ Ἡrῳdiados kai orchesamenes ⸂kai aresases⸃ tῷ Ἡrῴdῃ kai tois synanakeimenois, ⸂eipen ho basileys⸃ tῷ korasiῳ· Aiteson me ho ean thelῃs, kai doso soi·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said to the girl, "Ask of me whatever you will, and I will give it you."

καὶ εἰσελθούσης τῆς θυγατρὸς ⸂αὐτῆς τῆς⸃ Ἡρῳδιάδος καὶ ὀρχησαμένης ⸂καὶ ἀρεσάσης⸃ τῷ Ἡρῴδῃ καὶ τοῖς συνανακειμένοις, ⸂εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς⸃ τῷ κορασίῳ· Αἴτησόν με ὃ ἐὰν θέλῃς, καὶ δώσω σοι·

Phonetic (Greek): kai omosen ⸀aytῇ· ⸂Ὅ ti⸃ ean me aitesῃs doso soi heos hemisous tes basileias mou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he sware to her, whatever you will ask of me, I will give it you, to the half of my kingdom.

καὶ ὤμοσεν ⸀αὐτῇ· ⸂Ὅ τι⸃ ἐάν με αἰτήσῃς δώσω σοι ἕως ἡμίσους τῆς βασιλείας μου.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀kai exelthoysa eipen tῇ metri aytes· Ti ⸀aitesomai; he de eipen· Ten kephalen Ἰoannou toy ⸀baptizontos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And she went forth, and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist."

⸀καὶ ἐξελθοῦσα εἶπεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς· Τί ⸀αἰτήσωμαι; ἡ δὲ εἶπεν· Τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ ⸀βαπτίζοντος.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eiselthoysa ⸀eythys meta spoudes pros ton basilea etesato legousa· Thelo hina ⸂exautes dῷs moi⸃ epi pinaki ten kephalen Ἰoannou toy baptistoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, "I will that you give me immediately in a charger the head of John the Baptist."

καὶ εἰσελθοῦσα ⸀εὐθὺς μετὰ σπουδῆς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ᾐτήσατο λέγουσα· Θέλω ἵνα ⸂ἐξαυτῆς δῷς μοι⸃ ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai perilypos genomenos ho basileys dia toys horkous kai toys ⸀anakeimenous oyk ethelesen ⸂athetesai ayten⸃·
Edified Edition (EDE)And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

καὶ περίλυπος γενόμενος ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς ⸀ἀνακειμένους οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ⸂ἀθετῆσαι αὐτήν⸃·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀eythys aposteilas ho basileys spekoulatora epetaxen ⸀enenkai ten kephalen aytoy. ⸀kai apelthon apekephalisen ayton en tῇ phylakῇ
Edified Edition (EDE)And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἀποστείλας ὁ βασιλεὺς σπεκουλάτορα ἐπέταξεν ⸀ἐνέγκαι τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ. ⸀καὶ ἀπελθὼν ἀπεκεφάλισεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ

Phonetic (Greek): kai enenken ten kephalen aytoy epi pinaki kai edoken ayten tῷ korasiῳ, kai to korasion edoken ayten tῇ metri aytes.
Edified Edition (EDE)And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the girl: and the girl gave it to her mother.

καὶ ἤνεγκεν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν τῷ κορασίῳ, καὶ τὸ κοράσιον ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai akoysantes ohi mathetai aytoy elthon kai eran to ptoma aytoy kai ethekan ayto en mnemeiῳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦλθον καὶ ἦραν τὸ πτῶμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθηκαν αὐτὸ ἐν μνημείῳ.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai synagontai ohi apostoloi pros ton Ἰesoyn, kai apengeilan aytῷ ⸀panta hosa epoiesan kai hosa edidaxan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

Καὶ συνάγονται οἱ ἀπόστολοι πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν αὐτῷ ⸀πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησαν καὶ ὅσα ἐδίδαξαν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀legei aytois· Deyte hymeis aytoi katʼ idian eis eremon topon kai ⸀anapaysasthe oligon. esan gar ohi erchomenoi kai ohi hypagontes polloi, kai oyde phagein eykairoun.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He said to them, [JESUS]"Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while."[/JESUS] For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.

καὶ ⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Δεῦτε ὑμεῖς αὐτοὶ κατʼ ἰδίαν εἰς ἔρημον τόπον καὶ ⸀ἀναπαύσασθε ὀλίγον. ἦσαν γὰρ οἱ ἐρχόμενοι καὶ οἱ ὑπάγοντες πολλοί, καὶ οὐδὲ φαγεῖν εὐκαίρουν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apelthon ⸂en tῷ ploiῳ eis eremon topon⸃ katʼ idian.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

καὶ ἀπῆλθον ⸂ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον⸃ κατʼ ἰδίαν.

33
Phonetic (Greek): kai eidon aytoys hypagontas kai ⸀epegnosan polloi, kai pezῇ apo pason ton poleon synedramon ekei kai proelthon ⸀aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot There out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together to him.

καὶ εἶδον αὐτοὺς ὑπάγοντας καὶ ⸀ἐπέγνωσαν πολλοί, καὶ πεζῇ ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν πόλεων συνέδραμον ἐκεῖ καὶ προῆλθον ⸀αὐτούς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai exelthon ⸀eiden polyn ochlon, kai esplanchnisthe epʼ ⸀aytoys hoti esan hos probata me echonta poimena, kai erxato didaskein aytoys polla.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

καὶ ἐξελθὼν ⸀εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον, καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπʼ ⸀αὐτοὺς ὅτι ἦσαν ὡς πρόβατα μὴ ἔχοντα ποιμένα, καὶ ἤρξατο διδάσκειν αὐτοὺς πολλά.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ede horas polles genomenes proselthontes aytῷ ohi mathetai aytoy ⸀elegon hoti Ἔremos estin ho topos, kai ede hora polle·
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:

Καὶ ἤδη ὥρας πολλῆς γενομένης προσελθόντες αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ⸀ἔλεγον ὅτι Ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος, καὶ ἤδη ὥρα πολλή·

Phonetic (Greek): apolyson aytoys, hina apelthontes eis toys kyklῳ agroys kai komas agorasosin heautois ⸂ti phagosin⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

ἀπόλυσον αὐτούς, ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τοὺς κύκλῳ ἀγροὺς καὶ κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς ⸂τί φάγωσιν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis eipen aytois· Dote aytois hymeis phagein. kai legousin aytῷ· Ἀpelthontes agorasomen denarion diakosion artous kai ⸀dosomen aytois phagein;
Edified Edition (EDE)He answered and said to them, [JESUS]"You give them something to eat."[/JESUS] And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?"

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Δότε αὐτοῖς ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν. καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Ἀπελθόντες ἀγοράσωμεν δηναρίων διακοσίων ἄρτους καὶ ⸀δώσομεν αὐτοῖς φαγεῖν;

Phonetic (Greek): ho de legei aytois· Posous ⸂echete artous⸃; ⸀hypagete idete. kai gnontes legousin· Pente, kai dyo ichthyas.
Edified Edition (EDE)But He said to them, [JESUS]"How many loaves do you have? Go and see."[/JESUS] And when they found out they said, "Five, and two fish."
