Edified Edition (EDE)And He said to them, [JESUS]"Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἰσίν τινες ⸂τῶν ὧδε⸃ ἑστηκότων οἵτινες οὐ μὴ γεύσωνται θανάτου ἕως ἂν ἴδωσιν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐληλυθυῖαν ἐν δυνάμει.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai meta hemeras hex paralambanei ho Ἰesoys ton Petron kai ton Ἰakobon ⸀kai Ἰoannen, kai anapherei aytoys eis oros hypselon katʼ idian monous. kai metemorphothe emprosthen ayton,
Edified Edition (EDE)And after six days Jesus takes with him Peter, and James, and John, and leads them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

Καὶ μετὰ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τὸν Ἰάκωβον ⸀καὶ Ἰωάννην, καὶ ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν κατʼ ἰδίαν μόνους. καὶ μετεμορφώθη ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai ta himatia aytoy ⸀egeneto stilbonta leuka ⸀lian ohia gnapheys epi tes ges oy dynatai ⸀ohytos leukanai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

καὶ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ⸀ἐγένετο στίλβοντα λευκὰ ⸀λίαν οἷα γναφεὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς οὐ δύναται ⸀οὕτως λευκᾶναι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ophthe aytois Ἠlias syn Moysei, kai esan syllaloyntes tῷ Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And there appeared to them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

καὶ ὤφθη αὐτοῖς Ἠλίας σὺν Μωϋσεῖ, καὶ ἦσαν συλλαλοῦντες τῷ Ἰησοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apokritheis ho Petros legei tῷ Ἰesoy· Ῥabbi, kalon estin hemas hode einai, kai poiesomen ⸂treis skenas⸃, soi mian kai Moysei mian kai Ἠliᾳ mian.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Πέτρος λέγει τῷ Ἰησοῦ· Ῥαββί, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι, καὶ ποιήσωμεν ⸂τρεῖς σκηνάς⸃, σοὶ μίαν καὶ Μωϋσεῖ μίαν καὶ Ἠλίᾳ μίαν.

Phonetic (Greek): oy gar edei ti ⸀apokrithῇ, ⸂ekphoboi gar egenonto⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

οὐ γὰρ ᾔδει τί ⸀ἀποκριθῇ, ⸂ἔκφοβοι γὰρ ἐγένοντο⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai egeneto nephele episkiazousa aytois, kai ⸀egeneto phone ek tes nepheles· Ohytos estin ho yhios mou ho agapetos, ⸂akoyete aytoy⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!"

καὶ ἐγένετο νεφέλη ἐπισκιάζουσα αὐτοῖς, καὶ ⸀ἐγένετο φωνὴ ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἀγαπητός, ⸂ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai exapina periblepsamenoi oyketi oydena eidon ⸂alla ton Ἰesoyn monon methʼ heauton⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

καὶ ἐξάπινα περιβλεψάμενοι οὐκέτι οὐδένα εἶδον ⸂ἀλλὰ τὸν Ἰησοῦν μόνον μεθʼ ἑαυτῶν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Kai katabainonton⸃ ayton ⸀ek toy orous diesteilato aytois hina medeni ⸂ha eidon diegesontai⸃, ei me hotan ho yhios toy anthropou ek nekron anastῇ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.

⸂Καὶ καταβαινόντων⸃ αὐτῶν ⸀ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ ⸂ἃ εἶδον διηγήσωνται⸃, εἰ μὴ ὅταν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῇ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ton logon ekratesan pros heautoys syzetoyntes ti estin to ek nekron anastenai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

καὶ τὸν λόγον ἐκράτησαν πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς συζητοῦντες τί ἐστιν τὸ ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῆναι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eperoton ayton legontes· Ὅti legousin ohi grammateis hoti Ἠlian dei elthein proton;
Edified Edition (EDE)And they asked Him, saying, "Why say the scribes that Elijah must first come?"

καὶ ἐπηρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Ὅτι λέγουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον;

Phonetic (Greek): ho de ⸀ephe aytois· Ἠlias men elthon proton ⸀apokathistanei panta, kai pos gegraptai epi ton yhion toy anthropou hina polla pathῃ kai ⸀exoudenethῇ;
Edified Edition (EDE)And He answered and told them, [JESUS]"Elijah truly comes first, and restores all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ⸀ἔφη αὐτοῖς· Ἠλίας μὲν ἐλθὼν πρῶτον ⸀ἀποκαθιστάνει πάντα, καὶ πῶς γέγραπται ἐπὶ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἵνα πολλὰ πάθῃ καὶ ⸀ἐξουδενηθῇ;

Phonetic (Greek): alla lego hymin hoti kai Ἠlias elelythen, kai epoiesan aytῷ hosa ⸀ethelon, kathos gegraptai epʼ ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But I say to you, That Elijah is indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they listed, as it is written of him."[/JESUS]

ἀλλὰ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι καὶ Ἠλίας ἐλήλυθεν, καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ ὅσα ⸀ἤθελον, καθὼς γέγραπται ἐπʼ αὐτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ⸂elthontes pros toys mathetas eidon⸃ ochlon polyn peri aytoys kai grammateis syzetoyntas ⸂pros aytoys⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

Καὶ ⸂ἐλθόντες πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς εἶδον⸃ ὄχλον πολὺν περὶ αὐτοὺς καὶ γραμματεῖς συζητοῦντας ⸂πρὸς αὐτούς⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀eythys pas ho ochlos ⸂idontes ayton exethambethesan⸃, kai prostrechontes espazonto ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And immediately all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ⸂ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐξεθαμβήθησαν⸃, καὶ προστρέχοντες ἠσπάζοντο αὐτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eperotesen ⸀aytoys· Ti syzeteite pros ⸀ahytoys;
Edified Edition (EDE)And He asked the scribes, [JESUS]"What do you question with them?"[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν ⸀αὐτούς· Τί συζητεῖτε πρὸς ⸀αὑτούς;

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂apekrithe aytῷ ehis ek toy ochlou⸃· Didaskale, enenka ton yhion mou pros se, echonta pneyma alalon·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then one of the multitude answered and said, "Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit;"

καὶ ⸂ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ εἷς ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου⸃· Διδάσκαλε, ἤνεγκα τὸν υἱόν μου πρὸς σέ, ἔχοντα πνεῦμα ἄλαλον·

Phonetic (Greek): kai hopou ⸀ean ayton katalabῃ ῥessei ayton, kai aphrizei kai trizei toys ⸀odontas kai xerainetai· kai eipa tois mathetais sou hina ayto ekbalosin, kai oyk ischysan.
Edified Edition (EDE)"And wheresoever he takes him, he tears him: and he foams, and gnashes with his teeth, and pines away: and I spoke to your disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not."

καὶ ὅπου ⸀ἐὰν αὐτὸν καταλάβῃ ῥήσσει αὐτόν, καὶ ἀφρίζει καὶ τρίζει τοὺς ⸀ὀδόντας καὶ ξηραίνεται· καὶ εἶπα τοῖς μαθηταῖς σου ἵνα αὐτὸ ἐκβάλωσιν, καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis ⸀aytois legei· Ὦ genea apistos, heos pote pros hymas esomai; heos pote anexomai hymon; pherete ayton pros me.
Edified Edition (EDE)He answered him, and says, [JESUS]"O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him to Me."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς ⸀αὐτοῖς λέγει· Ὦ γενεὰ ἄπιστος, ἕως πότε πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἔσομαι; ἕως πότε ἀνέξομαι ὑμῶν; φέρετε αὐτὸν πρός με.

Phonetic (Greek): kai enenkan ayton pros ayton. kai idon ayton ⸂to pneyma eythys⸃ ⸀synesparaxen ayton, kai peson epi tes ges ekylieto aphrizon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they brought him to him: and when he saw him, immediately the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

καὶ ἤνεγκαν αὐτὸν πρὸς αὐτόν. καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν ⸂τὸ πνεῦμα εὐθὺς⸃ ⸀συνεσπάραξεν αὐτόν, καὶ πεσὼν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐκυλίετο ἀφρίζων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eperotesen ton patera aytoy· Posos chronos estin hos toyto gegonen aytῷ; ho de eipen· ⸀Ἐk paidiothen·
Edified Edition (EDE)And He asked his father, [JESUS]"How long is it ago since this came to him?"[/JESUS] And he said, "Of a child."

καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ· Πόσος χρόνος ἐστὶν ὡς τοῦτο γέγονεν αὐτῷ; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· ⸀Ἐκ παιδιόθεν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai pollakis ⸂kai eis pyr ayton⸃ ebalen kai eis hydata hina apolesῃ ayton· allʼ ei ti ⸀dynῃ, boetheson hemin splanchnistheis ephʼ hemas.
Edified Edition (EDE)"And often it has cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if you canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us."

καὶ πολλάκις ⸂καὶ εἰς πῦρ αὐτὸν⸃ ἔβαλεν καὶ εἰς ὕδατα ἵνα ἀπολέσῃ αὐτόν· ἀλλʼ εἴ τι ⸀δύνῃ, βοήθησον ἡμῖν σπλαγχνισθεὶς ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἰesoys eipen aytῷ· To Ei ⸀dynῃ, panta dynata tῷ pisteyonti.
Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus said to him, [JESUS]"If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Τὸ Εἰ ⸀δύνῃ, πάντα δυνατὰ τῷ πιστεύοντι.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀eythys kraxas ho pater toy ⸀paidiou elegen· ⸀Pisteyo· boethei mou tῇ apistiᾳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!"

⸀εὐθὺς κράξας ὁ πατὴρ τοῦ ⸀παιδίου ἔλεγεν· ⸀Πιστεύω· βοήθει μου τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ.

Phonetic (Greek): idon de ho Ἰesoys hoti episyntrechei ochlos epetimesen tῷ pneymati tῷ akathartῳ legon aytῷ· To ⸂alalon kai kophon pneyma⸃, ego ⸂epitasso soi⸃, exelthe ex aytoy kai meketi eiselthῃs eis ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, [JESUS]"You mute and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him and enter him no more!"[/JESUS]

ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἐπισυντρέχει ὄχλος ἐπετίμησεν τῷ πνεύματι τῷ ἀκαθάρτῳ λέγων αὐτῷ· Τὸ ⸂ἄλαλον καὶ κωφὸν πνεῦμα⸃, ἐγὼ ⸂ἐπιτάσσω σοι⸃, ἔξελθε ἐξ αὐτοῦ καὶ μηκέτι εἰσέλθῃς εἰς αὐτόν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂kraxas kai polla sparaxas⸃ exelthen· kai egeneto hosei nekros hoste ⸀toys polloys legein hoti apethanen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

καὶ ⸂κράξας καὶ πολλὰ σπαράξας⸃ ἐξῆλθεν· καὶ ἐγένετο ὡσεὶ νεκρὸς ὥστε ⸀τοὺς πολλοὺς λέγειν ὅτι ἀπέθανεν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἰesoys kratesas ⸂tes cheiros aytoy⸃ egeiren ayton, kai aneste.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς κρατήσας ⸂τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ⸃ ἤγειρεν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀνέστη.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂eiselthontos aytoy⸃ eis oikon ohi mathetai aytoy ⸂katʼ idian eperoton ayton⸃· Ὅti hemeis oyk edynethemen ekbalein ayto;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

καὶ ⸂εἰσελθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ εἰς οἶκον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ⸂κατʼ ἰδίαν ἐπηρώτων αὐτόν⸃· Ὅτι ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἠδυνήθημεν ἐκβαλεῖν αὐτό;

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipen aytois· Toyto to genos en oydeni dynatai exelthein ei me en ⸀proseuchῇ.
Edified Edition (EDE)So He said to them, [JESUS]"This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting."[/JESUS]

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Τοῦτο τὸ γένος ἐν οὐδενὶ δύναται ἐξελθεῖν εἰ μὴ ἐν ⸀προσευχῇ.

Phonetic (Greek): Kakeithen exelthontes ⸀pareporeyonto dia tes Galilaias, kai oyk ethelen hina tis gnoi·
Edified Edition (EDE)And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

Κἀκεῖθεν ἐξελθόντες ⸀παρεπορεύοντο διὰ τῆς Γαλιλαίας, καὶ οὐκ ἤθελεν ἵνα τις γνοῖ·

Phonetic (Greek): edidasken gar toys mathetas aytoy kai elegen aytois hoti Ὁ yhios toy anthropou paradidotai eis cheiras anthropon, kai apoktenoysin ayton, kai apoktantheis ⸂meta treis hemeras⸃ anastesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For He taught His disciples and said to them, [JESUS]"The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day."[/JESUS]

ἐδίδασκεν γὰρ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς ὅτι Ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπων, καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσιν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποκτανθεὶς ⸂μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας⸃ ἀναστήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de egnooun to ῥema, kai ephoboynto ayton eperotesai.
Edified Edition (EDE)But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

οἱ δὲ ἠγνόουν τὸ ῥῆμα, καὶ ἐφοβοῦντο αὐτὸν ἐπερωτῆσαι.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ⸀elthon eis Kapharnaoym. kai en tῇ oikiᾳ genomenos eperota aytoys· Ti en tῇ ⸀hodῷ dielogizesthe;
Edified Edition (EDE)And He came to Capernaum: and being in the house He asked them, [JESUS]"What was it that you disputed among yourselves by the way?"[/JESUS]

Καὶ ⸀ἦλθον εἰς Καφαρναούμ. καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ γενόμενος ἐπηρώτα αὐτούς· Τί ἐν τῇ ⸀ὁδῷ διελογίζεσθε;

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de esiopon, pros allelous gar dielechthesan en tῇ hodῷ tis meizon.
Edified Edition (EDE)But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων, πρὸς ἀλλήλους γὰρ διελέχθησαν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τίς μείζων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai kathisas ephonesen toys dodeka kai legei aytois· Ei tis thelei protos einai estai panton eschatos kai panton diakonos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, [JESUS]"If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all."[/JESUS]

καὶ καθίσας ἐφώνησεν τοὺς δώδεκα καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Εἴ τις θέλει πρῶτος εἶναι ἔσται πάντων ἔσχατος καὶ πάντων διάκονος.

Phonetic (Greek): kai labon paidion estesen ayto en mesῳ ayton kai enankalisamenos ayto eipen aytois·
Edified Edition (EDE)And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said to them,

καὶ λαβὼν παιδίον ἔστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐναγκαλισάμενος αὐτὸ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς·

Phonetic (Greek): Ὃs ⸀an hen ton toioyton paidion dexetai epi tῷ onomati mou, eme dechetai· kai hos ⸁an eme ⸀dechetai, oyk eme dechetai alla ton aposteilanta me.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me."[/JESUS]

Ὃς ⸀ἂν ἓν τῶν τοιούτων παιδίων δέξηται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ἐμὲ δέχεται· καὶ ὃς ⸁ἂν ἐμὲ ⸀δέχηται, οὐκ ἐμὲ δέχεται ἀλλὰ τὸν ἀποστείλαντά με.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Ἔphe aytῷ ho Ἰoannes⸃· Didaskale, eidomen tina ⸀en tῷ onomati sou ekballonta daimonia, ⸂kai ekolyomen ayton, hoti oyk ekoloythei hemin⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And John answered Him, saying, "Master, we saw one casting out demons in your name, and he follows not us: and we forbade him, because he follows not us."

⸂Ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰωάννης⸃· Διδάσκαλε, εἴδομέν τινα ⸀ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια, ⸂καὶ ἐκωλύομεν αὐτόν, ὅτι οὐκ ἠκολούθει ἡμῖν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἰesoys eipen· Me kolyete ayton, oydeis gar estin hos poiesei dynamin epi tῷ onomati mou kai dynesetai tachy kakologesai me·
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus said, [JESUS]"Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in My name, that can lightly speak evil of Me."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Μὴ κωλύετε αὐτόν, οὐδεὶς γάρ ἐστιν ὃς ποιήσει δύναμιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου καὶ δυνήσεται ταχὺ κακολογῆσαί με·

Phonetic (Greek): hos gar oyk estin kathʼ ⸂hemon, hyper hemon⸃ estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For he that is not against us is on our part."[/JESUS]

ὃς γὰρ οὐκ ἔστιν καθʼ ⸂ἡμῶν, ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν⸃ ἐστιν.
