Edified Edition (EDE)And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς δώδεκα μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν πνευμάτων ἀκαθάρτων ὥστε ἐκβάλλειν αὐτὰ καὶ θεραπεύειν πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν.

Edified Edition (EDE)Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

τῶν δὲ δώδεκα ἀποστόλων τὰ ὀνόματά ἐστιν ταῦτα· πρῶτος Σίμων ὁ λεγόμενος Πέτρος καὶ Ἀνδρέας ὁ ἀδελφὸς ⸀αὐτοῦ, Ἰάκωβος ὁ τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννης ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ,

Φίλιππος καὶ Βαρθολομαῖος, Θωμᾶς καὶ Μαθθαῖος ὁ τελώνης, Ἰάκωβος ὁ τοῦ Ἁλφαίου καὶ ⸀Θαδδαῖος,

Edified Edition (EDE)These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: [JESUS]"Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.[/JESUS]

Τούτους τοὺς δώδεκα ἀπέστειλεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς παραγγείλας αὐτοῖς λέγων· Εἰς ὁδὸν ἐθνῶν μὴ ἀπέλθητε καὶ εἰς πόλιν Σαμαριτῶν μὴ εἰσέλθητε·

πορεύεσθε δὲ μᾶλλον πρὸς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου Ἰσραήλ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'[/JESUS]

πορευόμενοι δὲ κηρύσσετε λέγοντες ὅτι Ἤγγικεν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."[/JESUS]

ἀσθενοῦντας θεραπεύετε, ⸂νεκροὺς ἐγείρετε⸃, λεπροὺς καθαρίζετε, δαιμόνια ἐκβάλλετε· δωρεὰν ἐλάβετε, δωρεὰν δότε.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,"[/JESUS]

μὴ κτήσησθε χρυσὸν μηδὲ ἄργυρον μηδὲ χαλκὸν εἰς τὰς ζώνας ὑμῶν,

Phonetic (Greek): me peran eis hodon mede dyo chitonas mede hypodemata mede ⸀ῥabdon· axios gar ho ergates tes trophes ⸀aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat."[/JESUS]

μὴ πήραν εἰς ὁδὸν μηδὲ δύο χιτῶνας μηδὲ ὑποδήματα μηδὲ ⸀ῥάβδον· ἄξιος γὰρ ὁ ἐργάτης τῆς τροφῆς ⸀αὐτοῦ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And into whatever city or town you shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till you go thence."[/JESUS]

εἰς ἣν δʼ ἂν πόλιν ἢ κώμην εἰσέλθητε, ἐξετάσατε τίς ἐν αὐτῇ ἄξιός ἐστιν· κἀκεῖ μείνατε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε.

εἰσερχόμενοι δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν ἀσπάσασθε αὐτήν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ean men e he oikia axia, elthato he eirene hymon epʼ ayten· ean de me e axia, he eirene hymon ⸀pros hymas epistrapheto.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐὰν μὲν ᾖ ἡ οἰκία ἀξία, ἐλθάτω ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν ἐπʼ αὐτήν· ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ ἀξία, ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν ⸀πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐπιστραφήτω.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὃς ⸀ἂν μὴ δέξηται ὑμᾶς μηδὲ ἀκούσῃ τοὺς λόγους ὑμῶν, ἐξερχόμενοι ⸀ἔξω τῆς οἰκίας ἢ τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης ἐκτινάξατε τὸν κονιορτὸν τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): amen lego hymin, anektoteron estai gῇ Sodomon kai Gomorron en hemerᾳ kriseos e tῇ polei ekeinῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgement, than for that city."[/JESUS]

ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται γῇ Σοδόμων καὶ Γομόρρων ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἰdoy ego apostello hymas hos probata en mesῳ lykon· ginesthe oyn phronimoi hos ohi opheis kai akeraioi hos ahi peristerai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. [/JESUS]

Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω ὑμᾶς ὡς πρόβατα ἐν μέσῳ λύκων· γίνεσθε οὖν φρόνιμοι ὡς οἱ ὄφεις καὶ ἀκέραιοι ὡς αἱ περιστεραί.

Phonetic (Greek): prosechete de apo ton anthropon· paradosousin gar hymas eis synedria, kai en tais synagogais ayton mastigosousin hymas·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.[/JESUS]

προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· παραδώσουσιν γὰρ ὑμᾶς εἰς συνέδρια, καὶ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν μαστιγώσουσιν ὑμᾶς·

Phonetic (Greek): kai epi hegemonas de kai basileis achthesesthe heneken emoy eis martyrion aytois kai tois ethnesin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐπὶ ἡγεμόνας δὲ καὶ βασιλεῖς ἀχθήσεσθε ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak."[/JESUS]

ὅταν δὲ ⸀παραδῶσιν ὑμᾶς, μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσητε· δοθήσεται γὰρ ὑμῖν ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ τί ⸀λαλήσητε·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you."[/JESUS]

οὐ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ λαλοῦντες ἀλλὰ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τὸ λαλοῦν ἐν ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): paradosei de adelphos adelphon eis thanaton kai pater teknon, kai epanastesontai tekna epi goneis kai thanatosousin aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death."[/JESUS]

παραδώσει δὲ ἀδελφὸς ἀδελφὸν εἰς θάνατον καὶ πατὴρ τέκνον, καὶ ἐπαναστήσονται τέκνα ἐπὶ γονεῖς καὶ θανατώσουσιν αὐτούς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai esesthe misoymenoi hypo panton dia to onoma mou· ho de hypomeinas eis telos ohytos sothesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου· ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὗτος σωθήσεται.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But when they persecute you in this city, flee you into another: for truly I say to you, You shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come."[/JESUS]

ὅταν δὲ διώκωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ, φεύγετε εἰς τὴν ⸀ἑτέραν· ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ μὴ τελέσητε τὰς πόλεις ⸀τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ ἕως ⸀ἂν ἔλθῃ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord."[/JESUS]

Οὐκ ἔστιν μαθητὴς ὑπὲρ τὸν διδάσκαλον οὐδὲ δοῦλος ὑπὲρ τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): arketon tῷ mathetῇ hina genetai hos ho didaskalos aytoy, kai ho doylos hos ho kyrios aytoy. ei ton oikodespoten Beelzeboyl ⸀epekalesan, posῳ mallon toys oikiakoys aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?"[/JESUS]

ἀρκετὸν τῷ μαθητῇ ἵνα γένηται ὡς ὁ διδάσκαλος αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὁ δοῦλος ὡς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ. εἰ τὸν οἰκοδεσπότην Βεελζεβοὺλ ⸀ἐπεκάλεσαν, πόσῳ μᾶλλον τοὺς οἰκιακοὺς αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Me oyn phobethete aytoys· oyden gar estin kekalymmenon ho oyk apokalyphthesetai, kai krypton ho oy gnosthesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known."[/JESUS]

Μὴ οὖν φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς· οὐδὲν γάρ ἐστιν κεκαλυμμένον ὃ οὐκ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται, καὶ κρυπτὸν ὃ οὐ γνωσθήσεται.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"What I tell you in darkness, that speak you in light: and what you hear in the ear, that preach you upon the housetops."[/JESUS]

ὃ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ, εἴπατε ἐν τῷ φωτί· καὶ ὃ εἰς τὸ οὖς ἀκούετε, κηρύξατε ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."[/JESUS]

καὶ μὴ ⸀φοβεῖσθε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποκτεννόντων τὸ σῶμα τὴν δὲ ψυχὴν μὴ δυναμένων ἀποκτεῖναι· ⸁φοβεῖσθε δὲ μᾶλλον τὸν δυνάμενον ⸀καὶ ψυχὴν ⸁καὶ σῶμα ἀπολέσαι ἐν γεέννῃ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father."[/JESUS]

οὐχὶ δύο στρουθία ἀσσαρίου πωλεῖται; καὶ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐ πεσεῖται ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἄνευ τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Fear you not therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows."[/JESUS]

μὴ οὖν ⸀φοβεῖσθε· πολλῶν στρουθίων διαφέρετε ὑμεῖς.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.[/JESUS]

Πᾶς οὖν ὅστις ὁμολογήσει ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὁμολογήσω κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῷ ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ⸀ἐν οὐρανοῖς·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven."[/JESUS]

ὅστις ⸂δʼ ἂν⸃ ἀρνήσηταί με ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἀρνήσομαι ⸂κἀγὼ αὐτὸν⸃ ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ⸀ἐν οὐρανοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): Me nomisete hoti elthon balein eirenen epi ten gen· oyk elthon balein eirenen alla machairan.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword."[/JESUS]

Μὴ νομίσητε ὅτι ἦλθον βαλεῖν εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν· οὐκ ἦλθον βαλεῖν εἰρήνην ἀλλὰ μάχαιραν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law."[/JESUS]

ἦλθον γὰρ διχάσαι ἄνθρωπον κατὰ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ θυγατέρα κατὰ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ νύμφην κατὰ τῆς πενθερᾶς αὐτῆς,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐχθροὶ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οἱ οἰκιακοὶ αὐτοῦ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."[/JESUS]

ὁ φιλῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα ὑπὲρ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἔστιν μου ἄξιος· καὶ ὁ φιλῶν υἱὸν ἢ θυγατέρα ὑπὲρ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἔστιν μου ἄξιος·

Phonetic (Greek): kai hos oy lambanei ton stauron aytoy kai akolouthei opiso mou, oyk estin mou axios.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὃς οὐ λαμβάνει τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθεῖ ὀπίσω μου, οὐκ ἔστιν μου ἄξιος.

Phonetic (Greek): ho ehyron ten psychen aytoy apolesei ayten, kai ho apolesas ten psychen aytoy heneken emoy ehyresei ayten.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it."[/JESUS]

ὁ εὑρὼν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἀπολέσει αὐτήν, καὶ ὁ ἀπολέσας τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εὑρήσει αὐτήν.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ dechomenos hymas eme dechetai, kai ho eme dechomenos dechetai ton aposteilanta me.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."[/JESUS]

Ὁ δεχόμενος ὑμᾶς ἐμὲ δέχεται, καὶ ὁ ἐμὲ δεχόμενος δέχεται τὸν ἀποστείλαντά με.

Phonetic (Greek): ho dechomenos propheten eis onoma prophetou misthon prophetou lempsetai, kai ho dechomenos dikaion eis onoma dikaiou misthon dikaiou lempsetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He that receivs a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receivs a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward."[/JESUS]

ὁ δεχόμενος προφήτην εἰς ὄνομα προφήτου μισθὸν προφήτου λήμψεται, καὶ ὁ δεχόμενος δίκαιον εἰς ὄνομα δικαίου μισθὸν δικαίου λήμψεται.

Phonetic (Greek): kai hos ⸀an potisῃ hena ton mikron toyton poterion psychroy monon eis onoma mathetoy, amen lego hymin, oy me apolesῃ ton misthon aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And whoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."[/JESUS]

καὶ ὃς ⸀ἂν ποτίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων ποτήριον ψυχροῦ μόνον εἰς ὄνομα μαθητοῦ, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσῃ τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ.
