Chapter 11

Phonetic (Greek): Kai egeneto hote etelesen ho Ἰesoys diatasson tois dodeka mathetais aytoy, metebe ekeithen toy didaskein kai keryssein en tais polesin ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

Καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐτέλεσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς διατάσσων τοῖς δώδεκα μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, μετέβη ἐκεῖθεν τοῦ διδάσκειν καὶ κηρύσσειν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ de Ἰoannes akoysas en tῷ desmoteriῳ ta erga toy christoy pempsas ⸀dia ton matheton aytoy
Edified Edition (EDE)And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples

Ὁ δὲ Ἰωάννης ἀκούσας ἐν τῷ δεσμωτηρίῳ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ χριστοῦ πέμψας ⸀διὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ

Phonetic (Greek): eipen aytῷ· Sy ei ho erchomenos e heteron prosdokomen;
Edified Edition (EDE)and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἕτερον προσδοκῶμεν;

Phonetic (Greek): kai apokritheis ho Ἰesoys eipen aytois· Poreuthentes apangeilate Ἰoannῃ ha akoyete kai blepete·
Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus answered and said to them, [JESUS]"Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:[/JESUS]

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Πορευθέντες ἀπαγγείλατε Ἰωάννῃ ἃ ἀκούετε καὶ βλέπετε·

Phonetic (Greek): typhloi anablepousin kai choloi peripatoysin, leproi katharizontai kai kophoi akoyousin, ⸀kai nekroi egeirontai kai ptochoi eyangelizontai·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.[/JESUS]

τυφλοὶ ἀναβλέπουσιν καὶ χωλοὶ περιπατοῦσιν, λεπροὶ καθαρίζονται καὶ κωφοὶ ἀκούουσιν, ⸀καὶ νεκροὶ ἐγείρονται καὶ πτωχοὶ εὐαγγελίζονται·

Phonetic (Greek): kai makarios estin hos ⸀ean me skandalisthῇ en emoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."[/JESUS]

καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν ὃς ⸀ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί.

Phonetic (Greek): Toyton de poreuomenon erxato ho Ἰesoys legein tois ochlois peri Ἰoannou· Ti exelthate eis ten eremon theasasthai; kalamon hypo anemou saleuomenon;
Edified Edition (EDE)And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, [JESUS]"What went you out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?"[/JESUS]

Τούτων δὲ πορευομένων ἤρξατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγειν τοῖς ὄχλοις περὶ Ἰωάννου· Τί ἐξήλθατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεάσασθαι; κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου σαλευόμενον;

Phonetic (Greek): alla ti exelthate idein; anthropon en ⸀malakois emphiesmenon; idoy ohi ta malaka phoroyntes en tois oikois ton ⸀basileon ⸀eisin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But what went you out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses."[/JESUS]

ἀλλὰ τί ἐξήλθατε ἰδεῖν; ἄνθρωπον ἐν ⸀μαλακοῖς ἠμφιεσμένον; ἰδοὺ οἱ τὰ μαλακὰ φοροῦντες ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τῶν ⸀βασιλέων ⸀εἰσίν.

Phonetic (Greek): alla ti exelthate⸂; propheten idein⸃; nai, lego hymin, kai perissoteron prophetou.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But what went you out for to see? A prophet? yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet."[/JESUS]

ἀλλὰ τί ἐξήλθατε⸂; προφήτην ἰδεῖν⸃; ναί, λέγω ὑμῖν, καὶ περισσότερον προφήτου.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀ohytos estin peri ohy gegraptai· Ἰdoy ego apostello ton angelon mou pro prosopou sou, hos kataskeuasei ten hodon sou emprosthen sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you."[/JESUS]

⸀οὗτός ἐστιν περὶ οὗ γέγραπται· Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου, ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου ἔμπροσθέν σου.

Phonetic (Greek): amen lego hymin, oyk egegertai en gennetois gynaikon meizon Ἰoannou toy baptistoy· ho de mikroteros en tῇ basileiᾳ ton oyranon meizon aytoy estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."[/JESUS]

ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐκ ἐγήγερται ἐν γεννητοῖς γυναικῶν μείζων Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ· ὁ δὲ μικρότερος ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν μείζων αὐτοῦ ἐστιν.

Phonetic (Greek): apo de ton hemeron Ἰoannou toy baptistoy heos arti he basileia ton oyranon biazetai, kai biastai harpazousin ayten.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force."[/JESUS]

ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν ἡμερῶν Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ ἕως ἄρτι ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν βιάζεται, καὶ βιασταὶ ἁρπάζουσιν αὐτήν.

Phonetic (Greek): pantes gar ohi prophetai kai ho nomos heos Ἰoannou epropheteusan·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John."[/JESUS]

πάντες γὰρ οἱ προφῆται καὶ ὁ νόμος ἕως Ἰωάννου ἐπροφήτευσαν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ei thelete dexasthai, aytos estin Ἠlias ho mellon erchesthai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And if you will receive it, this is Elijah, which was for to come."[/JESUS]

καὶ εἰ θέλετε δέξασθαι, αὐτός ἐστιν Ἠλίας ὁ μέλλων ἔρχεσθαι.

Phonetic (Greek): ho echon ⸀ota akoueto.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He who has ears to hear, let him hear."[/JESUS]

ὁ ἔχων ⸀ὦτα ἀκουέτω.

Phonetic (Greek): Tini de homoioso ten genean tayten; homoia estin paidiois ⸂kathemenois en tais agorais ha prosphonoynta tois heterois⸃
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But To what shall I liken this generation? It is like to children sitting in the markets, and calling to their fellows,"[/JESUS]

Τίνι δὲ ὁμοιώσω τὴν γενεὰν ταύτην; ὁμοία ἐστὶν παιδίοις ⸂καθημένοις ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς ἃ προσφωνοῦντα τοῖς ἑτέροις⸃

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀legousin· Eylesamen hymin kai oyk orchesasthe· ⸀ethrenesamen kai oyk ekopsasthe·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And saying, We have piped to you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not lamented."[/JESUS]

⸀λέγουσιν· Ηὐλήσαμεν ὑμῖν καὶ οὐκ ὠρχήσασθε· ⸀ἐθρηνήσαμεν καὶ οὐκ ἐκόψασθε·

Phonetic (Greek): elthen gar Ἰoannes mete esthion mete pinon, kai legousin· Daimonion echei·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a devil."[/JESUS]

ἦλθεν γὰρ Ἰωάννης μήτε ἐσθίων μήτε πίνων, καὶ λέγουσιν· Δαιμόνιον ἔχει·

Phonetic (Greek): elthen ho yhios toy anthropou esthion kai pinon, kai legousin· Ἰdoy anthropos phagos kai oinopotes, telonon philos kai hamartolon. kai edikaiothe he sophia apo ton ⸀ergon aytes.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children."[/JESUS]

ἦλθεν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐσθίων καὶ πίνων, καὶ λέγουσιν· Ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος φάγος καὶ οἰνοπότης, τελωνῶν φίλος καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν. καὶ ἐδικαιώθη ἡ σοφία ἀπὸ τῶν ⸀ἔργων αὐτῆς.

Phonetic (Greek): Tote ⸀erxato oneidizein tas poleis en ahis egenonto ahi pleistai dynameis aytoy, hoti oy metenoesan·
Edified Edition (EDE)Then He began to denounce the cities where most of His miracles had been performed, because they did not repent:

Τότε ⸀ἤρξατο ὀνειδίζειν τὰς πόλεις ἐν αἷς ἐγένοντο αἱ πλεῖσται δυνάμεις αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐ μετενόησαν·

Phonetic (Greek): Oyai soi, Chorazin· oyai soi, Bethsaida· hoti ei en Tyrῳ kai Sidoni egenonto ahi dynameis ahi genomenai en hymin, palai an en sakkῳ kai spodῷ metenoesan.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. [/JESUS]

Οὐαί σοι, Χοραζίν· οὐαί σοι, Βηθσαϊδά· ὅτι εἰ ἐν Τύρῳ καὶ Σιδῶνι ἐγένοντο αἱ δυνάμεις αἱ γενόμεναι ἐν ὑμῖν, πάλαι ἂν ἐν σάκκῳ καὶ σποδῷ μετενόησαν.

Phonetic (Greek): plen lego hymin, Tyrῳ kai Sidoni anektoteron estai en hemerᾳ kriseos e hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgement than for you."[/JESUS]

πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, Τύρῳ καὶ Σιδῶνι ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ ὑμῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai sy, Kapharnaoym, ⸂me heos oyranoy hypsothesῃ⸃; heos hadou ⸀katabesῃ· hoti ei en Sodomois ⸀egenethesan ahi dynameis ahi genomenai en soi, ⸀emeinen an mechri tes semeron.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the miracles which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day."[/JESUS]

καὶ σύ, Καφαρναούμ, ⸂μὴ ἕως οὐρανοῦ ὑψωθήσῃ⸃; ἕως ᾅδου ⸀καταβήσῃ· ὅτι εἰ ἐν Σοδόμοις ⸀ἐγενήθησαν αἱ δυνάμεις αἱ γενόμεναι ἐν σοί, ⸀ἔμεινεν ἂν μέχρι τῆς σήμερον.

Phonetic (Greek): plen lego hymin hoti gῇ Sodomon anektoteron estai en hemerᾳ kriseos e soi.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgement than for you."[/JESUS]

πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι γῇ Σοδόμων ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ σοί.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐn ekeinῳ tῷ kairῷ apokritheis ho Ἰesoys eipen· Ἐxomologoymai soi, pater kyrie toy oyranoy kai tes ges, hoti ⸀ekrypsas tayta apo sophon kai syneton, kai apekalypsas ayta nepiois·
Edified Edition (EDE)At that time Jesus answered and said, [JESUS]"I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.[/JESUS]

Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Ἐξομολογοῦμαί σοι, πάτερ κύριε τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅτι ⸀ἔκρυψας ταῦτα ἀπὸ σοφῶν καὶ συνετῶν, καὶ ἀπεκάλυψας αὐτὰ νηπίοις·

Phonetic (Greek): nai, ho pater, hoti ohytos ⸂eydokia egeneto⸃ emprosthen sou.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight."[/JESUS]

ναί, ὁ πατήρ, ὅτι οὕτως ⸂εὐδοκία ἐγένετο⸃ ἔμπροσθέν σου.

Phonetic (Greek): Panta moi paredothe hypo toy patros mou, kai oydeis epiginoskei ton yhion ei me ho pater, oyde ton patera tis epiginoskei ei me ho yhios kai ho ean boyletai ho yhios apokalypsai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."[/JESUS]

Πάντα μοι παρεδόθη ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιγινώσκει τὸν υἱὸν εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ, οὐδὲ τὸν πατέρα τις ἐπιγινώσκει εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς καὶ ᾧ ἐὰν βούληται ὁ υἱὸς ἀποκαλύψαι.

Phonetic (Greek): Deyte pros me pantes ohi kopiontes kai pephortismenoi, kago anapayso hymas.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.[/JESUS]

Δεῦτε πρός με πάντες οἱ κοπιῶντες καὶ πεφορτισμένοι, κἀγὼ ἀναπαύσω ὑμᾶς.

Phonetic (Greek): arate ton zygon mou ephʼ hymas kai mathete apʼ emoy, hoti prays eimi kai tapeinos tῇ kardiᾳ, kai ehyresete anapausin tais psychais hymon·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.[/JESUS]

ἄρατε τὸν ζυγόν μου ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς καὶ μάθετε ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι πραΰς εἰμι καὶ ταπεινὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ, καὶ εὑρήσετε ἀνάπαυσιν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): ho gar zygos mou chrestos kai to phortion mou elaphron estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."[/JESUS]

ὁ γὰρ ζυγός μου χρηστὸς καὶ τὸ φορτίον μου ἐλαφρόν ἐστιν.
