Phonetic (Greek): Ἐn ekeinῳ tῷ kairῷ ekousen Ἡrῴdes ho tetraarches ten akoen Ἰesoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus

Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἤκουσεν Ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν Ἰησοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipen tois paisin aytoy· Ohytos estin Ἰoannes ho baptistes· aytos egerthe apo ton nekron, kai dia toyto ahi dynameis energoysin en aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him."

καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ· Οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστής· αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ gar Ἡrῴdes kratesas ton Ἰoannen edesen ⸀ayton kai ⸂en phylakῇ apetheto⸃ dia Ἡrῳdiada ten gynaika Philippou toy adelphoy aytoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

Ὁ γὰρ Ἡρῴδης κρατήσας τὸν Ἰωάννην ἔδησεν ⸀αὐτὸν καὶ ⸂ἐν φυλακῇ ἀπέθετο⸃ διὰ Ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα Φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): elegen gar ⸂aytῷ ho Ἰoannes⸃· Oyk exestin soi echein ayten·
Edified Edition (EDE)For John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."

ἔλεγεν γὰρ ⸂αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰωάννης⸃· Οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν αὐτήν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai thelon ayton apokteinai ephobethe ton ochlon, hoti hos propheten ayton eichon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

καὶ θέλων αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι ἐφοβήθη τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ὡς προφήτην αὐτὸν εἶχον.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂genesiois de genomenois⸃ toy Ἡrῴdou orchesato he thygater tes Ἡrῳdiados en tῷ mesῳ kai eresen tῷ Ἡrῴdῃ,
Edified Edition (EDE)But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

⸂γενεσίοις δὲ γενομένοις⸃ τοῦ Ἡρῴδου ὠρχήσατο ἡ θυγάτηρ τῆς Ἡρῳδιάδος ἐν τῷ μέσῳ καὶ ἤρεσεν τῷ Ἡρῴδῃ,

Phonetic (Greek): hothen meta horkou homologesen aytῇ doynai ho ⸀ean aitesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she would ask.

ὅθεν μετὰ ὅρκου ὡμολόγησεν αὐτῇ δοῦναι ὃ ⸀ἐὰν αἰτήσηται.

Phonetic (Greek): he de probibastheisa hypo tes metros aytes· Dos moi, phesin, hode epi pinaki ten kephalen Ἰoannou toy baptistoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, "Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger."

ἡ δὲ προβιβασθεῖσα ὑπὸ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς· Δός μοι, φησίν, ὧδε ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸂lypetheis ho basileys dia⸃ toys horkous kai toys synanakeimenous ekeleusen dothenai,
Edified Edition (EDE)And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and those who sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

καὶ ⸂λυπηθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ⸃ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι,

Phonetic (Greek): kai pempsas apekephalisen ⸀ton Ἰoannen en tῇ phylakῇ·
Edified Edition (EDE)And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

καὶ πέμψας ἀπεκεφάλισεν ⸀τὸν Ἰωάννην ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ·

Phonetic (Greek): kai enechthe he kephale aytoy epi pinaki kai edothe tῷ korasiῳ, kai enenken tῇ metri aytes.
Edified Edition (EDE)And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the girl: and she brought it to her mother.

καὶ ἠνέχθη ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἐδόθη τῷ κορασίῳ, καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai proselthontes ohi mathetai aytoy eran to ⸀ptoma kai ethapsan ⸀ayton, kai elthontes apengeilan tῷ Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦραν τὸ ⸀πτῶμα καὶ ἔθαψαν ⸀αὐτόν, καὶ ἐλθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Ἀkoysas de⸃ ho Ἰesoys anechoresen ekeithen en ploiῳ eis eremon topon katʼ idian· kai akoysantes ohi ochloi ekoloythesan aytῷ pezῇ apo ton poleon.
Edified Edition (EDE)When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

⸂Ἀκούσας δὲ⸃ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν ἐν πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατʼ ἰδίαν· καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ὄχλοι ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ πεζῇ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀exelthon eiden polyn ochlon, kai esplanchnisthe epʼ aytois kai etherapeusen toys arrostous ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

καὶ ⸀ἐξελθὼν εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον, καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπʼ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀρρώστους αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): opsias de genomenes proselthon aytῷ ohi ⸀mathetai legontes· Ἔremos estin ho topos kai he hora ede parelthen· apolyson toys ochlous, hina apelthontes eis tas komas agorasosin heautois bromata.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, "This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals."

ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ λέγοντες· Ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα ἤδη παρῆλθεν· ἀπόλυσον τοὺς ὄχλους, ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de Ἰesoys eipen aytois· Oy chreian echousin apelthein· dote aytois hymeis phagein.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Jesus said to them, [JESUS]"They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν ἀπελθεῖν· δότε αὐτοῖς ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de legousin aytῷ· Oyk echomen hode ei me pente artous kai dyo ichthyas.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they said to Him, "We have here but five loaves, and two fish."

οἱ δὲ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Οὐκ ἔχομεν ὧδε εἰ μὴ πέντε ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἰχθύας.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen· Pherete moi ⸂hode aytoys⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)He said, [JESUS]"Bring them here to Me."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Φέρετέ μοι ⸂ὧδε αὐτούς⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai keleysas toys ochlous anaklithenai epi ⸂toy chortou⸃, labon toys pente artous kai toys dyo ichthyas, anablepsas eis ton oyranon eylogesen kai klasas edoken tois mathetais toys artous ohi de mathetai tois ochlois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

καὶ κελεύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνακλιθῆναι ἐπὶ ⸂τοῦ χόρτου⸃, λαβὼν τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας, ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν καὶ κλάσας ἔδωκεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς τοὺς ἄρτους οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ephagon pantes kai echortasthesan, kai eran to perisseyon ton klasmaton dodeka kophinous plereis.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de esthiontes esan andres hosei pentakischilioi choris gynaikon kai paidion.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai eytheos ⸀enankasen toys mathetas embenai ⸀eis ploion kai proagein ayton eis to peran, heos ohy apolysῃ toys ochlous.
Edified Edition (EDE)And immediately Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Καὶ εὐθέως ⸀ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι ⸀εἰς πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν, ἕως οὗ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apolysas toys ochlous anebe eis to oros katʼ idian proseyxasthai. opsias de genomenes monos en ekei.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατʼ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι. ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ.

Phonetic (Greek): to de ploion ede ⸂stadious polloys apo tes ges apeichen⸃, basanizomenon hypo ton kymaton, en gar enantios ho anemos.
Edified Edition (EDE)But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη ⸂σταδίους πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀπεῖχεν⸃, βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων, ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος.

Phonetic (Greek): tetartῃ de phylakῇ tes nyktos ⸀elthen pros ⸀aytoys peripaton epi ⸂ten thalassan⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.

τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ⸀ἦλθεν πρὸς ⸀αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ ⸂τὴν θάλασσαν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂ohi de mathetai idontes ayton⸃ epi ⸂tes thalasses⸃ peripatoynta etarachthesan legontes hoti Phantasma estin, kai apo toy phobou ekraxan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear."

⸂οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν⸃ ἐπὶ ⸂τῆς θαλάσσης⸃ περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι Φάντασμά ἐστιν, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀eythys de elalesen ⸂aytois ho Ἰesoys⸃ legon· Tharseite, ego eimi· me phobeisthe.
Edified Edition (EDE)But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [JESUS]"Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid."[/JESUS]

⸀εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν ⸂αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς⸃ λέγων· Θαρσεῖτε, ἐγώ εἰμι· μὴ φοβεῖσθε.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀpokritheis de ⸂aytῷ ho Petros eipen⸃· Kyrie, ei sy ei, keleuson me ⸂elthein pros se⸃ epi ta hydata·
Edified Edition (EDE)And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it be You, bid me come to You on the water."

Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ⸂αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν⸃· Κύριε, εἰ σὺ εἶ, κέλευσόν με ⸂ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ⸃ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα·

Phonetic (Greek): ho de eipen· Ἐlthe. kai katabas apo toy ⸀ploiou Petros periepatesen epi ta hydata ⸂kai elthen⸃ pros ton Ἰesoyn.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He said, [JESUS]"Come."[/JESUS] And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ἐλθέ. καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ ⸀πλοίου Πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα ⸂καὶ ἦλθεν⸃ πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν.

Phonetic (Greek): blepon de ton anemon ⸀ischyron ephobethe, kai arxamenos katapontizesthai ekraxen legon· Kyrie, soson me.
Edified Edition (EDE)But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, "saying, Lord, save me."

βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον ⸀ἰσχυρὸν ἐφοβήθη, καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων· Κύριε, σῶσόν με.

Phonetic (Greek): eytheos de ho Ἰesoys ekteinas ten cheira epelabeto aytoy kai legei aytῷ· Ὀligopiste, eis ti edistasas;
Edified Edition (EDE)And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, [JESUS]"O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"[/JESUS]

εὐθέως δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὀλιγόπιστε, εἰς τί ἐδίστασας;

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀anabanton ayton eis to ploion ekopasen ho anemos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

καὶ ⸀ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de en tῷ ⸀ploiῳ prosekynesan aytῷ legontes· Ἀlethos theoy yhios ei.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then those who were in the boat came and worshipped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of God."

οἱ δὲ ἐν τῷ ⸀πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες· Ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς εἶ.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai diaperasantes elthon ⸂epi ten gen eis⸃ Gennesaret.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

Καὶ διαπεράσαντες ἦλθον ⸂ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς⸃ Γεννησαρέτ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai epignontes ayton ohi andres toy topou ekeinou apesteilan eis holen ten perichoron ekeinen, kai prosenenkan aytῷ pantas toys kakos echontas,
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought to him all that were diseased;

καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην, καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας,

Phonetic (Greek): kai parekaloun ayton hina monon hapsontai toy kraspedou toy himatiou aytoy· kai hosoi hepsanto diesothesan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ· καὶ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν.
