Phonetic (Greek): Tote proserchontai tῷ ⸀Ἰesoy apo Ἱerosolymon ⸂Pharisaioi kai grammateis⸃ legontes
Edified Edition (EDE)Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying,

Τότε προσέρχονται τῷ ⸀Ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων ⸂Φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς⸃ λέγοντες

Phonetic (Greek): Dia ti ohi mathetai sou parabainousin ten paradosin ton presbyteron; oy gar niptontai tas cheiras ⸀ayton hotan arton esthiosin.
Edified Edition (EDE)Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταί σου παραβαίνουσιν τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων; οὐ γὰρ νίπτονται τὰς χεῖρας ⸀αὐτῶν ὅταν ἄρτον ἐσθίωσιν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis eipen aytois· Dia ti kai hymeis parabainete ten entolen toy theoy dia ten paradosin hymon;
Edified Edition (EDE)He answered and said to them, [JESUS]"Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?"[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν;

Phonetic (Greek): ho gar theos ⸀eipen· Tima ton patera kai ten metera, kai· Ὁ kakologon patera e metera thanatῳ teleutato·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]For God commanded, saying, "Honour your father and your mother," and: "He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death."[/JESUS]

ὁ γὰρ θεὸς ⸀εἶπεν· Τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καί· Ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω·

Phonetic (Greek): hymeis de legete· Ὃs an eipῃ tῷ patri e tῇ metri· Doron ho ean ex emoy ophelethῇs,
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]But you say, whoever shall say to his father or his mother, "It is a gift, by whatever you might have been profited by me;"[/JESUS]

ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε· Ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί· Δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς,

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀oy me ⸀timesei ton patera ⸀aytoy· kai ekyrosate ⸂ton logon⸃ toy theoy dia ten paradosin hymon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God void by your tradition."[/JESUS]

⸀οὐ μὴ ⸀τιμήσει τὸν πατέρα ⸀αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἠκυρώσατε ⸂τὸν λόγον⸃ τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): hypokritai, kalos epropheteusen peri hymon Ἠsaias legon·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:[/JESUS]

ὑποκριταί, καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν περὶ ὑμῶν Ἠσαΐας λέγων·

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Ὁ laos ohytos⸃ tois cheilesin me timᾷ, he de kardia ayton porro apechei apʼ emoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honour Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.'[/JESUS]

⸂Ὁ λαὸς οὗτος⸃ τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): maten de sebontai me, didaskontes didaskalias entalmata anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."[/JESUS]

μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai proskalesamenos ton ochlon eipen aytois· Ἀkoyete kai syniete·
Edified Edition (EDE)When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, [JESUS]"Hear and understand:[/JESUS]

Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε·

Phonetic (Greek): oy to eiserchomenon eis to stoma koinoi ton anthropon, alla to ekporeuomenon ek toy stomatos toyto koinoi ton anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."[/JESUS]

οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.

Phonetic (Greek): Tote proselthontes ohi ⸀mathetai ⸀legousin aytῷ· Oidas hoti ohi Pharisaioi akoysantes ton logon eskandalisthesan;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then came his disciples, and said to him, "Know you that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?"

Τότε προσελθόντες οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ ⸀λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Οἶδας ὅτι οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν;

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis eipen· Pasa phyteia hen oyk ephyteusen ho pater mou ho oyranios ekrizothesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)But He answered and said, [JESUS]"Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται.

Phonetic (Greek): aphete aytoys· ⸂typhloi eisin hodegoi typhlon⸃· typhlos de typhlon ean hodegῇ, amphoteroi eis bothynon pesoyntai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Leave them alone: they are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a pit."[/JESUS]

ἄφετε αὐτούς· ⸂τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοὶ τυφλῶν⸃· τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ, ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἀpokritheis de ho Petros eipen aytῷ· Phrason hemin ten parabolen ⸀tayten.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then answered Peter and said to him, "Declare to us this parable."

Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολὴν ⸀ταύτην.

Phonetic (Greek): ho ⸀de eipen· Ἀkmen kai hymeis asynetoi este;
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus said, [JESUS]"Are you also still without understanding?"[/JESUS]

ὁ ⸀δὲ εἶπεν· Ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε;

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀oy noeite hoti pan to eisporeuomenon eis to stoma eis ten koilian chorei kai eis aphedrona ekballetai;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Do you not yet understand, that whatever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out?"[/JESUS]

⸀οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεται;

Phonetic (Greek): ta de ekporeuomena ek toy stomatos ek tes kardias exerchetai, kakeina koinoi ton anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man."[/JESUS]

τὰ δὲ ἐκπορευόμενα ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ἐκ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχεται, κἀκεῖνα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.

Phonetic (Greek): ek gar tes kardias exerchontai dialogismoi poneroi, phonoi, moicheiai, porneiai, klopai, pseudomartyriai, blasphemiai.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false witness, slanders:"[/JESUS]

ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί, φόνοι, μοιχεῖαι, πορνεῖαι, κλοπαί, ψευδομαρτυρίαι, βλασφημίαι.

Phonetic (Greek): tayta estin ta koinoynta ton anthropon, to de aniptois chersin phagein oy koinoi ton anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."[/JESUS]

ταῦτά ἐστιν τὰ κοινοῦντα τὸν ἄνθρωπον, τὸ δὲ ἀνίπτοις χερσὶν φαγεῖν οὐ κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai exelthon ekeithen ho Ἰesoys anechoresen eis ta mere Tyrou kai Sidonos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

Καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκεῖθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὰ μέρη Τύρου καὶ Σιδῶνος.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idoy gyne Chananaia apo ton horion ekeinon exelthoysa ⸀ekrazen legousa· Ἐleeson me, kyrie ⸀yhios Dauid· he thygater mou kakos daimonizetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried to him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, you son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."

καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ Χαναναία ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων ἐκείνων ἐξελθοῦσα ⸀ἔκραζεν λέγουσα· Ἐλέησόν με, κύριε ⸀υἱὸς Δαυίδ· ἡ θυγάτηρ μου κακῶς δαιμονίζεται.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de oyk apekrithe aytῇ logon. kai proselthontes ohi mathetai aytoy ⸀erotoun ayton legontes· Ἀpolyson ayten, hoti krazei opisthen hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, "Send her away; for she cris after us."

ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῇ λόγον. καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ⸀ἠρώτουν αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Ἀπόλυσον αὐτήν, ὅτι κράζει ὄπισθεν ἡμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis eipen· Oyk apestalen ei me eis ta probata ta apololota oikou Ἰsrael.
Edified Edition (EDE)But He answered and said, [JESUS]"I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Οὐκ ἀπεστάλην εἰ μὴ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου Ἰσραήλ.

Phonetic (Greek): he de elthoysa ⸀prosekynei aytῷ legousa· Kyrie, boethei moi.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then came she and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me."

ἡ δὲ ἐλθοῦσα ⸀προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγουσα· Κύριε, βοήθει μοι.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis eipen· Oyk estin kalon labein ton arton ton teknon kai balein tois kynariois.
Edified Edition (EDE)He answered and said, [JESUS]"It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Οὐκ ἔστιν καλὸν λαβεῖν τὸν ἄρτον τῶν τέκνων καὶ βαλεῖν τοῖς κυναρίοις.

Phonetic (Greek): he de eipen· Nai, kyrie, kai gar ta kynaria esthiei apo ton psichion ton piptonton apo tes trapezes ton kyrion ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And she said, "Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."

ἡ δὲ εἶπεν· Ναί, κύριε, καὶ γὰρ τὰ κυνάρια ἐσθίει ἀπὸ τῶν ψιχίων τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τῶν κυρίων αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): tote apokritheis ho Ἰesoys eipen aytῇ· Ὦ gynai, megale sou he pistis· genetheto soi hos theleis. kai iathe he thygater aytes apo tes horas ekeines.
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus answered and said to her, [JESUS]"O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire."[/JESUS] And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

τότε ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Ὦ γύναι, μεγάλη σου ἡ πίστις· γενηθήτω σοι ὡς θέλεις. καὶ ἰάθη ἡ θυγάτηρ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας ἐκείνης.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai metabas ekeithen ho Ἰesoys elthen para ten thalassan tes Galilaias, kai anabas eis to oros ekatheto ekei.
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh to the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

Καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν τῆς Γαλιλαίας, καὶ ἀναβὰς εἰς τὸ ὄρος ἐκάθητο ἐκεῖ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai proselthon aytῷ ochloi polloi echontes methʼ heauton ⸂kophoys, typhloys, choloys, kylloys⸃, kai heterous polloys, kai erripsan aytoys para toys podas ⸀aytoy, kai etherapeusen aytoys·
Edified Edition (EDE)And great multitudes came to Him, bringing with them the lame, blind, mute, crippled, and many others; and they laid them at His feet, and He healed them.

καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοὶ ἔχοντες μεθʼ ἑαυτῶν ⸂κωφούς, τυφλούς, χωλούς, κυλλούς⸃, καὶ ἑτέρους πολλούς, καὶ ἔρριψαν αὐτοὺς παρὰ τοὺς πόδας ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς·

Phonetic (Greek): hoste ⸂ton ochlon⸃ thaumasai blepontas kophoys laloyntas ⸂kylloys hygieis⸃ ⸀kai choloys peripatoyntas kai typhloys blepontas· kai edoxasan ton theon Ἰsrael.
Edified Edition (EDE)So the multitude marvelled when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.

ὥστε ⸂τὸν ὄχλον⸃ θαυμάσαι βλέποντας κωφοὺς λαλοῦντας ⸂κυλλοὺς ὑγιεῖς⸃ ⸀καὶ χωλοὺς περιπατοῦντας καὶ τυφλοὺς βλέποντας· καὶ ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεὸν Ἰσραήλ.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὁ de Ἰesoys proskalesamenos toys mathetas aytoy eipen· Splanchnizomai epi ton ochlon, hoti ede hemerai treis prosmenousin moi kai oyk echousin ti phagosin· kai apolysai aytoys nesteis oy thelo, mepote eklythosin en tῇ hodῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, [JESUS]"My heart goes out to the multitude, because they have been with Me three days now and have nothing to eat. I am unwilling to send them away hungry, for they might collapse on the journey."[/JESUS]

Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν· καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω, μήποτε ἐκλυθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai legousin aytῷ ohi ⸀mathetai· Pothen hemin en eremiᾳ artoi tosoytoi hoste chortasai ochlon tosoyton;
Edified Edition (EDE)And his disciples say to him, Where should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ ⸀μαθηταί· Πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον;

Phonetic (Greek): kai legei aytois ho Ἰesoys· Posous artous echete; ohi de eipan· Ἑpta, kai oliga ichthydia.
Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus said to them, [JESUS]"How many loaves do you have?"[/JESUS] And they said, "Seven, and a few little fish."

καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Ἑπτά, καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ⸀parangeilas ⸂tῷ ochlῳ⸃ anapesein epi ten gen
Edified Edition (EDE)And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

καὶ ⸀παραγγείλας ⸂τῷ ὄχλῳ⸃ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀elaben toys hepta artous kai toys ichthyas ⸀kai eycharistesas eklasen kai ⸀edidou tois ⸀mathetais ohi de mathetai ⸂tois ochlois⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave them to the multitude.

⸀ἔλαβεν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας ⸀καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ⸀ἐδίδου τοῖς ⸀μαθηταῖς οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ⸂τοῖς ὄχλοις⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ephagon pantes kai echortasthesan, kai ⸂to perisseyon ton klasmaton eran⸃ hepta spyridas plereis.
Edified Edition (EDE)So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left.

καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ⸂τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων ἦραν⸃ ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας πλήρεις.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de esthiontes esan tetrakischilioi andres choris gynaikon kai paidion.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν τετρακισχίλιοι ἄνδρες χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apolysas toys ochlous enebe eis to ploion, kai elthen eis ta horia ⸀Magadan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He sent away the multitude, got into the boat, and came to the region of Magdala.

καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἐνέβη εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια ⸀Μαγαδάν.
