Edified Edition (EDE)Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

Καὶ ὅτε ἤγγισαν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Βηθφαγὴ ⸀εἰς τὸ Ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν, τότε ⸀Ἰησοῦς ἀπέστειλεν δύο μαθητὰς

Phonetic (Greek): legon aytois· ⸀Poreyesthe eis ten komen ten ⸀katenanti hymon, kai ⸀eytheos ehyresete onon dedemenen kai polon metʼ aytes· lysantes ⸀agagete moi.
Edified Edition (EDE)saying to them, [JESUS]"Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me."[/JESUS]

λέγων αὐτοῖς· ⸀Πορεύεσθε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν ⸀κατέναντι ὑμῶν, καὶ ⸀εὐθέως εὑρήσετε ὄνον δεδεμένην καὶ πῶλον μετʼ αὐτῆς· λύσαντες ⸀ἀγάγετέ μοι.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ean tis hymin eipῃ ti, ereite hoti Ὁ kyrios ayton chreian echei· ⸀eythys de ⸀apostelei aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And if any man say ought to you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them; and immediately he will send them."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ τι, ἐρεῖτε ὅτι Ὁ κύριος αὐτῶν χρείαν ἔχει· ⸀εὐθὺς δὲ ⸀ἀποστελεῖ αὐτούς.

Phonetic (Greek): Toyto ⸀de gegonen hina plerothῇ to ῥethen dia toy prophetou legontos·
Edified Edition (EDE)All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

Τοῦτο ⸀δὲ γέγονεν ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος·

Phonetic (Greek): Eipate tῇ thygatri Sion· Ἰdoy ho basileys sou erchetai soi praῢs kai epibebekos epi onon kai ⸀epi polon yhion hypozygiou.
Edified Edition (EDE)"Tell you the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting upon a donkey, and a colt the foal of a donkey."

Εἴπατε τῇ θυγατρὶ Σιών· Ἰδοὺ ὁ βασιλεύς σου ἔρχεταί σοι πραῢς καὶ ἐπιβεβηκὼς ἐπὶ ὄνον καὶ ⸀ἐπὶ πῶλον υἱὸν ὑποζυγίου.

Edified Edition (EDE)And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

πορευθέντες δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ καὶ ποιήσαντες καθὼς ⸀συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς

Phonetic (Greek): egagon ten onon kai ton polon, kai epethekan ⸀epʼ ayton ta ⸀himatia, kai epekathisen epano ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

ἤγαγον τὴν ὄνον καὶ τὸν πῶλον, καὶ ἐπέθηκαν ⸀ἐπʼ αὐτῶν τὰ ⸀ἱμάτια, καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν ἐπάνω αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de pleistos ochlos estrosan heauton ta himatia en tῇ hodῷ, alloi de ekopton kladous apo ton dendron kai estronnyon en tῇ hodῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

ὁ δὲ πλεῖστος ὄχλος ἔστρωσαν ἑαυτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ, ἄλλοι δὲ ἔκοπτον κλάδους ἀπὸ τῶν δένδρων καὶ ἐστρώννυον ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de ochloi ohi proagontes ⸀ayton kai ohi akolouthoyntes ekrazon legontes· Ὡsanna tῷ yhiῷ Dauid· Eylogemenos ho erchomenos en onomati kyriou· Ὡsanna en tois hypsistois.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, "saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."

οἱ δὲ ὄχλοι οἱ προάγοντες ⸀αὐτὸν καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔκραζον λέγοντες· Ὡσαννὰ τῷ υἱῷ Δαυίδ· Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου· Ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις.

Phonetic (Greek): kai eiselthontos aytoy eis Ἱerosolyma eseisthe pasa he polis legousa· Tis estin ohytos;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?"

καὶ εἰσελθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἐσείσθη πᾶσα ἡ πόλις λέγουσα· Τίς ἐστιν οὗτος;

Phonetic (Greek): ohi de ochloi elegon· Ohytos estin ⸂ho prophetes Ἰesoys⸃ ho apo Nazareth tes Galilaias.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the multitude said, "This is Jesus the prophet of NazarS of Galilee."

οἱ δὲ ὄχλοι ἔλεγον· Οὗτός ἐστιν ⸂ὁ προφήτης Ἰησοῦς⸃ ὁ ἀπὸ Ναζαρὲθ τῆς Γαλιλαίας.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai eiselthen ⸀Ἰesoys eis to ⸀hieron, kai exebalen pantas toys poloyntas kai agorazontas en tῷ hierῷ kai tas trapezas ton kollybiston katestrepsen kai tas kathedras ton poloynton tas peristeras,
Edified Edition (EDE)Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.

Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ⸀Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὸ ⸀ἱερόν, καὶ ἐξέβαλεν πάντας τοὺς πωλοῦντας καὶ ἀγοράζοντας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ τὰς τραπέζας τῶν κολλυβιστῶν κατέστρεψεν καὶ τὰς καθέδρας τῶν πωλούντων τὰς περιστεράς,

Phonetic (Greek): kai legei aytois· Gegraptai· Ὁ oikos mou oikos proseuches klethesetai, hymeis de ayton ⸀poieite spelaion lῃston.
Edified Edition (EDE)And He said to them, [JESUS]"It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.'"[/JESUS]

καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Γέγραπται· Ὁ οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς κληθήσεται, ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτὸν ⸀ποιεῖτε σπήλαιον λῃστῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai proselthon aytῷ ⸂typhloi kai choloi⸃ en tῷ hierῷ, kai etherapeusen aytoys.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

Καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῷ ⸂τυφλοὶ καὶ χωλοὶ⸃ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς.

Edified Edition (EDE)And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, "Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,"

ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς τὰ θαυμάσια ἃ ἐποίησεν καὶ τοὺς παῖδας ⸀τοὺς κράζοντας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ λέγοντας· Ὡσαννὰ τῷ υἱῷ Δαυίδ, ἠγανάκτησαν

Phonetic (Greek): kai eipan aytῷ· Ἀkoyeis ti ohytoi legousin; ho de Ἰesoys legei aytois· Nai. oydepote anegnote hoti Ἐk stomatos nepion kai thelazonton katertiso ainon;
Edified Edition (EDE)Then they said to Him, "Do You hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, [JESUS]"Yes. Have you never read: 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise'?"[/JESUS]

καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ· Ἀκούεις τί οὗτοι λέγουσιν; ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ναί. οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε ὅτι Ἐκ στόματος νηπίων καὶ θηλαζόντων κατηρτίσω αἶνον;

Phonetic (Greek): kai katalipon aytoys exelthen exo tes poleos eis Bethanian, kai eylisthe ekei.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.

καὶ καταλιπὼν αὐτοὺς ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω τῆς πόλεως εἰς Βηθανίαν, καὶ ηὐλίσθη ἐκεῖ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Proῒ de ⸀epanagon eis ten polin epeinasen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

⸀Πρωῒ δὲ ⸀ἐπανάγων εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἐπείνασεν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idon syken mian epi tes hodoy elthen epʼ ayten, kai oyden ehyren en aytῇ ei me phylla monon, kai legei aytῇ· ⸀Meketi ek soy karpos genetai eis ton aiona· kai exeranthe parachrema he syke.
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said to it, [JESUS]"Let no fruit grow on you henceforward for ever."[/JESUS] And presently the fig tree withered away.

καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν μίαν ἐπὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ ἦλθεν ἐπʼ αὐτήν, καὶ οὐδὲν εὗρεν ἐν αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ φύλλα μόνον, καὶ λέγει αὐτῇ· ⸀Μηκέτι ἐκ σοῦ καρπὸς γένηται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· καὶ ἐξηράνθη παραχρῆμα ἡ συκῆ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai idontes ohi mathetai ethaymasan legontes· Pos parachrema exeranthe he syke;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, "How soon is the fig tree withered away!"

καὶ ἰδόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐθαύμασαν λέγοντες· Πῶς παραχρῆμα ἐξηράνθη ἡ συκῆ;

Phonetic (Greek): apokritheis de ho Ἰesoys eipen aytois· Ἀmen lego hymin, ean echete pistin kai me diakrithete, oy monon to tes sykes poiesete, alla kan tῷ orei toytῳ eipete· Ἄrtheti kai bletheti eis ten thalassan, genesetai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Jesus answered and said to them, [JESUS]"Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done."[/JESUS]

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν ἔχητε πίστιν καὶ μὴ διακριθῆτε, οὐ μόνον τὸ τῆς συκῆς ποιήσετε, ἀλλὰ κἂν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ εἴπητε· Ἄρθητι καὶ βλήθητι εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, γενήσεται·

Phonetic (Greek): kai panta hosa ⸀an aitesete en tῇ proseuchῇ pisteyontes lempsesthe.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."[/JESUS]

καὶ πάντα ὅσα ⸀ἂν αἰτήσητε ἐν τῇ προσευχῇ πιστεύοντες λήμψεσθε.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ⸂elthontos aytoy⸃ eis to hieron proselthon aytῷ didaskonti ohi archiereis kai ohi presbyteroi toy laoy legontes· Ἐn poiᾳ exousiᾳ tayta poieis; kai tis soi edoken ten exousian tayten;
Edified Edition (EDE)And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority do you these things? and who gave you this authority?"

Καὶ ⸂ἐλθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν προσῆλθον αὐτῷ διδάσκοντι οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τοῦ λαοῦ λέγοντες· Ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς; καὶ τίς σοι ἔδωκεν τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην;

Phonetic (Greek): apokritheis de ho Ἰesoys eipen aytois· Ἐroteso hymas kago logon hena, hon ean eipete moi kago hymin ero en poiᾳ exousiᾳ tayta poio·
Edified Edition (EDE)And Jesus answered and said to them, [JESUS]"I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things."[/JESUS]

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἐρωτήσω ὑμᾶς κἀγὼ λόγον ἕνα, ὃν ἐὰν εἴπητέ μοι κἀγὼ ὑμῖν ἐρῶ ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ·

Phonetic (Greek): to baptisma ⸀to Ἰoannou pothen en; ex oyranoy e ex anthropon; ohi de dielogizonto ⸀en heautois legontes· Ἐan eipomen· Ἐx oyranoy, erei hemin· Dia ti oyn oyk episteysate aytῷ;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"The baptism of John, Where was it? from heaven, or of men?"[/JESUS] And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say to us, Why did you not then believe him?

τὸ βάπτισμα ⸀τὸ Ἰωάννου πόθεν ἦν; ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων; οἱ δὲ διελογίζοντο ⸀ἐν ἑαυτοῖς λέγοντες· Ἐὰν εἴπωμεν· Ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, ἐρεῖ ἡμῖν· Διὰ τί οὖν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ;

Phonetic (Greek): ean de eipomen· Ἐx anthropon, phoboymetha ton ochlon, pantes gar ⸂hos propheten echousin ton Ἰoannen⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

ἐὰν δὲ εἴπωμεν· Ἐξ ἀνθρώπων, φοβούμεθα τὸν ὄχλον, πάντες γὰρ ⸂ὡς προφήτην ἔχουσιν τὸν Ἰωάννην⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): kai apokrithentes tῷ Ἰesoy eipan· Oyk oidamen. ephe aytois kai aytos· Oyde ego lego hymin en poiᾳ exousiᾳ tayta poio.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said to them, [JESUS]"Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things."[/JESUS]

καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῷ Ἰησοῦ εἶπαν· Οὐκ οἴδαμεν. ἔφη αὐτοῖς καὶ αὐτός· Οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ.

Phonetic (Greek): Ti de hymin dokei; anthropos eichen tekna dyo. ⸀proselthon tῷ protῳ eipen· Teknon, hypage semeron ergazou en tῷ ⸀ampeloni.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, 'Son, go, work today in my vineyard.'"[/JESUS]

Τί δὲ ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; ἄνθρωπος εἶχεν τέκνα δύο. ⸀προσελθὼν τῷ πρώτῳ εἶπεν· Τέκνον, ὕπαγε σήμερον ἐργάζου ἐν τῷ ⸀ἀμπελῶνι.

Phonetic (Greek): ho de apokritheis eipen· ⸂Oy thelo· hysteron de metameletheis⸃ apelthen.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went."[/JESUS]

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· ⸂Οὐ θέλω· ὕστερον δὲ μεταμεληθεὶς⸃ ἀπῆλθεν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not."[/JESUS]

⸂προσελθὼν δὲ⸃ τῷ ⸀δευτέρῳ εἶπεν ὡσαύτως· ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· ⸂Ἐγώ, κύριε· καὶ οὐκ⸃ ἀπῆλθεν.

Phonetic (Greek): tis ek ton dyo epoiesen to thelema toy patros; ⸀legousin· Ὁ ⸀protos. legei aytois ho Ἰesoys· Ἀmen lego hymin hoti ohi telonai kai ahi pornai proagousin hymas eis ten basileian toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Which of the two did the will of his father?"[/JESUS] They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, [JESUS]"Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you."[/JESUS]

τίς ἐκ τῶν δύο ἐποίησεν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός; ⸀λέγουσιν· Ὁ ⸀πρῶτος. λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οἱ τελῶναι καὶ αἱ πόρναι προάγουσιν ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): elthen gar ⸂Ἰoannes pros hymas⸃ en hodῷ dikaiosynes, kai oyk episteysate aytῷ· ohi de telonai kai ahi pornai episteusan aytῷ· hymeis de idontes ⸀oyde metemelethete hysteron toy pisteysai aytῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and you, when you had seen it, repented not afterward, that you might believe him."[/JESUS]

ἦλθεν γὰρ ⸂Ἰωάννης πρὸς ὑμᾶς⸃ ἐν ὁδῷ δικαιοσύνης, καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ· οἱ δὲ τελῶναι καὶ αἱ πόρναι ἐπίστευσαν αὐτῷ· ὑμεῖς δὲ ἰδόντες ⸀οὐδὲ μετεμελήθητε ὕστερον τοῦ πιστεῦσαι αὐτῷ.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἄllen parabolen akoysate. ⸀Ἄnthropos en oikodespotes hostis ephyteusen ampelona kai phragmon aytῷ perietheken kai oryxen en aytῷ lenon kai okodomesen pyrgon, kai exedeto ayton georgois, kai apedemesen.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to farmers, and went into a far country:"[/JESUS]

Ἄλλην παραβολὴν ἀκούσατε. ⸀Ἄνθρωπος ἦν οἰκοδεσπότης ὅστις ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα καὶ φραγμὸν αὐτῷ περιέθηκεν καὶ ὤρυξεν ἐν αὐτῷ ληνὸν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν πύργον, καὶ ἐξέδετο αὐτὸν γεωργοῖς, καὶ ἀπεδήμησεν.

Phonetic (Greek): hote de engisen ho kairos ton karpon, apesteilen toys doylous aytoy pros toys georgoys labein toys karpoys aytoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, that they might receive the fruits of it."[/JESUS]

ὅτε δὲ ἤγγισεν ὁ καιρὸς τῶν καρπῶν, ἀπέστειλεν τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ πρὸς τοὺς γεωργοὺς λαβεῖν τοὺς καρποὺς αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai labontes ohi georgoi toys doylous aytoy hon men edeiran, hon de apekteinan, hon de elithobolesan.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And the farmers took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another."[/JESUS]

καὶ λαβόντες οἱ γεωργοὶ τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ ὃν μὲν ἔδειραν, ὃν δὲ ἀπέκτειναν, ὃν δὲ ἐλιθοβόλησαν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did to them likewise."[/JESUS]

πάλιν ἀπέστειλεν ἄλλους δούλους πλείονας τῶν πρώτων, καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτοῖς ὡσαύτως.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But last of all he sent to them his son, saying, They will reverence my son."[/JESUS]

οἱ δὲ γεωργοὶ ἰδόντες τὸν υἱὸν εἶπον ἐν ἑαυτοῖς· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ κληρονόμος· δεῦτε ἀποκτείνωμεν αὐτὸν καὶ ⸀σχῶμεν τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ·

ὅταν οὖν ἔλθῃ ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος, τί ποιήσει τοῖς γεωργοῖς ἐκείνοις;

Edified Edition (EDE)They say to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard to other farmers, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Κακοὺς κακῶς ἀπολέσει αὐτούς, καὶ τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ἐκδώσεται ἄλλοις γεωργοῖς, οἵτινες ἀποδώσουσιν αὐτῷ τοὺς καρποὺς ἐν τοῖς καιροῖς αὐτῶν.
