Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.[/JESUS]

Προσέχετε ⸀δὲ τὴν ⸀δικαιοσύνην ὑμῶν μὴ ποιεῖν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων πρὸς τὸ θεαθῆναι αὐτοῖς· εἰ δὲ μή γε, μισθὸν οὐκ ἔχετε παρὰ τῷ πατρὶ ὑμῶν τῷ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Phonetic (Greek): Ὅtan oyn poiῇs eleemosynen, me salpisῃs emprosthen sou, hosper ohi hypokritai poioysin en tais synagogais kai en tais ῥymais, hopos doxasthosin hypo ton anthropon· amen lego hymin, apechousin ton misthon ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.[/JESUS]

Ὅταν οὖν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην, μὴ σαλπίσῃς ἔμπροσθέν σου, ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις, ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,[/JESUS]

σοῦ δὲ ποιοῦντος ἐλεημοσύνην μὴ γνώτω ἡ ἀριστερά σου τί ποιεῖ ἡ δεξιά σου,

Phonetic (Greek): hopos e sou he eleemosyne en tῷ kryptῷ· kai ho pater sou ho blepon en tῷ ⸀kryptῷ apodosei ⸀soi.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"That your alms may be in secret: and your Father which ses in secret himself shall reward you openly."[/JESUS]

ὅπως ᾖ σου ἡ ἐλεημοσύνη ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ ⸀κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει ⸀σοι.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai hotan ⸂proseychesthe, oyk esesthe hos⸃ ohi hypokritai· hoti philoysin en tais synagogais kai en tais goniais ton plateion hestotes proseychesthai, ⸀hopos phanosin tois anthropois· amen lego ⸀hymin, apechousi ton misthon ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.[/JESUS]

Καὶ ὅταν ⸂προσεύχησθε, οὐκ ἔσεσθε ὡς⸃ οἱ ὑποκριταί· ὅτι φιλοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς γωνίαις τῶν πλατειῶν ἑστῶτες προσεύχεσθαι, ⸀ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις· ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσι τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): sy de hotan proseychῃ, eiselthe eis to tameion sou kai kleisas ten thyran sou proseuxai tῷ patri sou tῷ en tῷ kryptῷ· kai ho pater sou ho blepon en tῷ kryptῷ apodosei ⸀soi.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.[/JESUS]

σὺ δὲ ὅταν προσεύχῃ, εἴσελθε εἰς τὸ ταμεῖόν σου καὶ κλείσας τὴν θύραν σου πρόσευξαι τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ ἀποδώσει ⸀σοι.

Phonetic (Greek): Proseuchomenoi de me battalogesete hosper ohi ethnikoi, dokoysin gar hoti en tῇ polylogiᾳ ayton eisakousthesontai·
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."[/JESUS]

Προσευχόμενοι δὲ μὴ βατταλογήσητε ὥσπερ οἱ ἐθνικοί, δοκοῦσιν γὰρ ὅτι ἐν τῇ πολυλογίᾳ αὐτῶν εἰσακουσθήσονται·

Phonetic (Greek): me oyn homoiothete aytois, oiden gar ⸀ho pater hymon hon chreian echete pro toy hymas aitesai ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Be not you therefore like to them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him."[/JESUS]

μὴ οὖν ὁμοιωθῆτε αὐτοῖς, οἶδεν γὰρ ⸀ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὧν χρείαν ἔχετε πρὸ τοῦ ὑμᾶς αἰτῆσαι αὐτόν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.[/JESUS]

Οὕτως οὖν προσεύχεσθε ὑμεῖς· Πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.[/JESUS]

καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰ ὀφειλήματα ἡμῶν, ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ⸀ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): kai me eisenenkῃs hemas eis peirasmon, alla ῥysai hemas apo toy ⸀poneroy.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."[/JESUS]

καὶ μὴ εἰσενέγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειρασμόν, ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ ⸀πονηροῦ.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:"[/JESUS]

ἐὰν γὰρ ἀφῆτε τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν, ἀφήσει καὶ ὑμῖν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Moreover when you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to fast. truly I say to you, They have their reward."[/JESUS]

Ὅταν δὲ νηστεύητε, μὴ γίνεσθε ⸀ὡς οἱ ὑποκριταὶ σκυθρωποί, ἀφανίζουσιν γὰρ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ὅπως φανῶσιν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύοντες· ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν, ἀπέχουσιν τὸν μισθὸν αὐτῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But you, when you fastest, anoint your head, and wash your face;"[/JESUS]

σὺ δὲ νηστεύων ἄλειψαί σου τὴν κεφαλὴν καὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν σου νίψαι,

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"That you appear not to men to fast, but to your Father which is in secret: and your Father, which ses in secret, shall reward you openly."[/JESUS]

ὅπως μὴ φανῇς τοῖς ἀνθρώποις νηστεύων ἀλλὰ τῷ πατρί σου τῷ ἐν τῷ ⸀κρυφαίῳ· καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ὁ βλέπων ἐν τῷ ⸁κρυφαίῳ ἀποδώσει σοι.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;[/JESUS]

Μὴ θησαυρίζετε ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅπου σὴς καὶ βρῶσις ἀφανίζει, καὶ ὅπου κλέπται διορύσσουσιν καὶ κλέπτουσιν·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.[/JESUS]

θησαυρίζετε δὲ ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐν οὐρανῷ, ὅπου οὔτε σὴς οὔτε βρῶσις ἀφανίζει, καὶ ὅπου κλέπται οὐ διορύσσουσιν οὐδὲ κλέπτουσιν·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."[/JESUS]

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light."[/JESUS]

Ὁ λύχνος τοῦ σώματός ἐστιν ὁ ὀφθαλμός. ἐὰν οὖν ⸂ᾖ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ἁπλοῦς⸃, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου φωτεινὸν ἔσται·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!"[/JESUS]

ἐὰν δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου πονηρὸς ᾖ, ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου σκοτεινὸν ἔσται. εἰ οὖν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἐν σοὶ σκότος ἐστίν, τὸ σκότος πόσον.

Phonetic (Greek): Oydeis dynatai dysi kyriois douleyein· e gar ton hena misesei kai ton heteron agapesei, e henos anthexetai kai toy heterou kataphronesei. oy dynasthe theῷ douleyein kai mamonᾷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."[/JESUS]

Οὐδεὶς δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν· ἢ γὰρ τὸν ἕνα μισήσει καὶ τὸν ἕτερον ἀγαπήσει, ἢ ἑνὸς ἀνθέξεται καὶ τοῦ ἑτέρου καταφρονήσει. οὐ δύνασθε θεῷ δουλεύειν καὶ μαμωνᾷ.

Phonetic (Greek): Dia toyto lego hymin· me merimnate tῇ psychῇ hymon ti ⸀phagete, mede tῷ somati hymon ti endysesthe· oychi he psyche pleion esti tes trophes kai to soma toy endymatos;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?"[/JESUS]

Διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν· μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν τί ⸀φάγητε, μηδὲ τῷ σώματι ὑμῶν τί ἐνδύσησθε· οὐχὶ ἡ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστι τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος;

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?"[/JESUS]

ἐμβλέψατε εἰς τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν οὐδὲ συνάγουσιν εἰς ἀποθήκας, καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος τρέφει αὐτά· οὐχ ὑμεῖς μᾶλλον διαφέρετε αὐτῶν;

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?"[/JESUS]

τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται προσθεῖναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ πῆχυν ἕνα;

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:"[/JESUS]

καὶ περὶ ἐνδύματος τί μεριμνᾶτε; καταμάθετε τὰ κρίνα τοῦ ἀγροῦ πῶς ⸂αὐξάνουσιν· οὐ κοπιῶσιν οὐδὲ νήθουσιν⸃·

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."[/JESUS]

λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"[/JESUS]

εἰ δὲ τὸν χόρτον τοῦ ἀγροῦ σήμερον ὄντα καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ἀμφιέννυσιν, οὐ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι;

Phonetic (Greek): me oyn merimnesete legontes· Ti phagomen; e· Ti piomen; e· Ti peribalometha;
Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?"[/JESUS]

μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε λέγοντες· Τί φάγωμεν; ἤ· Τί πίωμεν; ἤ· Τί περιβαλώμεθα;

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things."[/JESUS]

πάντα γὰρ ταῦτα τὰ ἔθνη ⸀ἐπιζητοῦσιν· οἶδεν γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων ἁπάντων.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.[/JESUS]

ζητεῖτε δὲ πρῶτον τὴν ⸀βασιλείαν καὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ, καὶ ταῦτα πάντα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν.

Edified Edition (EDE)[JESUS]Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."[/JESUS]

μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε εἰς τὴν αὔριον, ἡ γὰρ αὔριον μεριμνήσει ⸀αὑτῆς· ἀρκετὸν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἡ κακία αὐτῆς.
