Chapter 2
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ei tis oyn paraklesis en Christῷ, ei ti paramythion agapes, ei tis koinonia pneymatos, ei tis splanchna kai oiktirmoi,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,

2
Phonetic (Greek): plerosate mou ten charan hina to ayto phronete, ten ayten agapen echontes, sympsychoi, to hen phronoyntes,
Edified Edition (EDE)fulfil my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3
Phonetic (Greek): meden katʼ eritheian ⸂mede kata⸃ kenodoxian, alla tῇ tapeinophrosynῃ allelous hegoymenoi hyperechontas heauton,
Edified Edition (EDE)Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

4
Phonetic (Greek): me ta heauton ⸀hekastoi ⸀skopoyntes, alla kai ta heteron ⸁hekastoi.
Edified Edition (EDE)Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

5
Phonetic (Greek): toyto ⸀phroneite en hymin ho kai en Christῷ Ἰesoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

6
Phonetic (Greek): hos en morphῇ theoy hyparchon oych harpagmon hegesato to einai isa theῷ,
Edified Edition (EDE)who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

7
Phonetic (Greek): alla heauton ekenosen morphen doylou labon, en homoiomati anthropon genomenos· kai schemati ehyretheis hos anthropos
Edified Edition (EDE)but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

8
Phonetic (Greek): etapeinosen heauton genomenos hypekoos mechri thanatou, thanatou de stauroy·
Edified Edition (EDE)And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

9
Phonetic (Greek): dio kai ho theos ayton hyperypsosen, kai echarisato aytῷ ⸀to onoma to hyper pan onoma,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

10
Phonetic (Greek): hina en tῷ onomati Ἰesoy pan gony kampsῃ epouranion kai epigeion kai katachthonion,
Edified Edition (EDE)that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

11
Phonetic (Greek): kai pasa glossa exomologesetai hoti kyrios Ἰesoys Christos eis doxan theoy patros.
Edified Edition (EDE)and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Ὥste, agapetoi mou, kathos pantote hypekoysate, me hos en tῇ parousiᾳ mou monon alla nyn pollῷ mallon en tῇ apousiᾳ mou, meta phobou kai tromou ten heauton soterian katergazesthe,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

13
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀theos gar estin ho energon en hymin kai to thelein kai to energein hyper tes eydokias.
Edified Edition (EDE)for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

14
Phonetic (Greek): Panta poieite choris gongysmon kai dialogismon,
Edified Edition (EDE)Do all things without complaining and disputing,

15
Phonetic (Greek): hina genesthe amemptoi kai akeraioi, tekna theoy ⸂amoma meson⸃ geneas skolias kai diestrammenes, en ohis phainesthe hos phosteres en kosmῳ
Edified Edition (EDE)that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

16
Phonetic (Greek): logon zoes epechontes, eis kaychema emoi eis hemeran Christoy, hoti oyk eis kenon edramon oyde eis kenon ekopiasa.
Edified Edition (EDE)holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or laboured in vain.

17
Phonetic (Greek): alla ei kai spendomai epi tῇ thysiᾳ kai leitourgiᾳ tes pisteos hymon, chairo kai synchairo pasin hymin·
Edified Edition (EDE)Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

18
Phonetic (Greek): to de ayto kai hymeis chairete kai synchairete moi.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

19
Phonetic (Greek): Ἐlpizo de en kyriῳ Ἰesoy Timotheon tacheos pempsai hymin, hina kago eypsycho gnoys ta peri hymon.
Edified Edition (EDE)But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state.

20
Phonetic (Greek): oydena gar echo isopsychon hostis gnesios ta peri hymon merimnesei,
Edified Edition (EDE)For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state.

21
Phonetic (Greek): ohi pantes gar ta heauton zetoysin, oy ta ⸂Ἰesoy Christoy⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.

22
Phonetic (Greek): ten de dokimen aytoy ginoskete, hoti hos patri teknon syn emoi edoyleusen eis to eyangelion.
Edified Edition (EDE)But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel.

23
Phonetic (Greek): toyton men oyn elpizo pempsai hos an aphido ta peri eme exautes·
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me.

Edified Edition (EDE)But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.

25
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀnankaion de hegesamen Ἐpaphroditon ton adelphon kai synergon kai systratioten mou, hymon de apostolon kai leitourgon tes chreias mou, pempsai pros hymas,
Edified Edition (EDE)Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;

26
Phonetic (Greek): epeide epipothon en pantas ⸀hymas, kai ademonon dioti ekoysate hoti esthenesen.
Edified Edition (EDE)since he was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.

27
Phonetic (Greek): kai gar esthenesen paraplesion ⸀thanatῳ· alla ho theos ⸂eleesen ayton⸃, oyk ayton de monon alla kai eme, hina me lypen epi lypen scho.
Edified Edition (EDE)For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28
Phonetic (Greek): spoudaioteros oyn epempsa ayton hina idontes ayton palin charete kago alypoteros o.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice, and I may be less sorrowful.

29
Phonetic (Greek): prosdechesthe oyn ayton en kyriῳ meta pases charas, kai toys toioytous entimous echete,
Edified Edition (EDE)Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and recognise such men in honour;

30
Phonetic (Greek): hoti dia to ergon ⸀Christoy mechri thanatou engisen, ⸀paraboleusamenos tῇ psychῇ hina anaplerosῃ to hymon hysterema tes pros me leitourgias.
Edified Edition (EDE)because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.
