Chapter 2

Phonetic (Greek): Tῷ angelῳ ⸀tes en Ἐphesῳ ekklesias grapson· Tade legei ho kraton toys hepta asteras en tῇ dexiᾷ aytoy, ho peripaton en mesῳ ton hepta lychnion ton chryson·

Edified Edition (EDE)To the angel of the church of Ephesus write; "These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands;

Τῷ ἀγγέλῳ ⸀τῆς ἐν Ἐφέσῳ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ κρατῶν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἀστέρας ἐν τῇ δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ, ὁ περιπατῶν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἑπτὰ λυχνιῶν τῶν χρυσῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): Oida ta erga sou, kai ton ⸀kopon kai ten hypomonen sou, kai hoti oy dynῃ bastasai kakoys, kai epeirasas toys legontas heautoys ⸀apostolous, kai oyk eisin, kai ehyres aytoys pseudeis·

Edified Edition (EDE)"I know your works, and your labour, and your patience, and how you cannot bear those who are evil: and you have tested those who say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars:

Οἶδα τὰ ἔργα σου, καὶ τὸν ⸀κόπον καὶ τὴν ὑπομονήν σου, καὶ ὅτι οὐ δύνῃ βαστάσαι κακούς, καὶ ἐπείρασας τοὺς λέγοντας ἑαυτοὺς ⸀ἀποστόλους, καὶ οὐκ εἰσίν, καὶ εὗρες αὐτοὺς ψευδεῖς·

Phonetic (Greek): kai hypomonen echeis, kai ebastasas dia to onoma mou, kai ⸂oy kekopiakes⸃.

Edified Edition (EDE)"And have patterns of patience, and for My name’s sake have laboured, and have not fainted.

καὶ ὑπομονὴν ἔχεις, καὶ ἐβάστασας διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου, καὶ ⸂οὐ κεκοπίακες⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): alla echo kata soy hoti ten agapen sou ten proten aphekes.

Edified Edition (EDE)"Nevertheless I have somewhat against you, because you have left your first love.

ἀλλὰ ἔχω κατὰ σοῦ ὅτι τὴν ἀγάπην σου τὴν πρώτην ἀφῆκες.

Phonetic (Greek): mnemoneue oyn pothen ⸀peptokas, kai metanoeson kai ta prota erga poieson· ei de me, erchomai ⸀soi, kai kineso ten lychnian sou ek toy topou aytes, ean me metanoesῃs.

Edified Edition (EDE)"Remember therefore from where you are fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come to you quickly, and will remove your lampstand out of its place, except you repent.

μνημόνευε οὖν πόθεν ⸀πέπτωκας, καὶ μετανόησον καὶ τὰ πρῶτα ἔργα ποίησον· εἰ δὲ μή, ἔρχομαί ⸀σοι, καὶ κινήσω τὴν λυχνίαν σου ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῆς, ἐὰν μὴ μετανοήσῃς.

Phonetic (Greek): alla toyto echeis hoti miseis ta erga ton Nikolaiton, ha kago miso.

Edified Edition (EDE)"But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

ἀλλὰ τοῦτο ἔχεις ὅτι μισεῖς τὰ ἔργα τῶν Νικολαϊτῶν, ἃ κἀγὼ μισῶ.

Phonetic (Greek): ho echon oys akousato ti to pneyma legei tais ekklesiais. tῷ nikonti doso aytῷ phagein ek toy xylou tes zoes, ho estin en tῷ paradeisῳ toy ⸀theoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him who overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

ὁ ἔχων οὖς ἀκουσάτω τί τὸ πνεῦμα λέγει ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις. τῷ νικῶντι δώσω αὐτῷ φαγεῖν ἐκ τοῦ ξύλου τῆς ζωῆς, ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ τοῦ ⸀θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai tῷ angelῳ ⸀tes en Smyrnῃ ekklesias grapson· Tade legei ho protos kai ho eschatos, hos egeneto nekros kai ezesen·

Edified Edition (EDE)And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write; "These things says the first and the last, who was dead, and is alive;

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ ⸀τῆς ἐν Σμύρνῃ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ πρῶτος καὶ ὁ ἔσχατος, ὃς ἐγένετο νεκρὸς καὶ ἔζησεν·

Phonetic (Greek): Oida ⸀sou ten thlipsin kai ten ptocheian, alla ploysios ei, kai ten blasphemian ek ton legonton Ἰoudaious einai heautoys, kai oyk eisin, alla synagoge toy Satana.

Edified Edition (EDE)"I know your works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but you are rich) and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Οἶδά ⸀σου τὴν θλῖψιν καὶ τὴν πτωχείαν, ἀλλὰ πλούσιος εἶ, καὶ τὴν βλασφημίαν ἐκ τῶν λεγόντων Ἰουδαίους εἶναι ἑαυτούς, καὶ οὐκ εἰσίν, ἀλλὰ συναγωγὴ τοῦ Σατανᾶ.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀meden phoboy ha melleis ⸀paschein. ⸀idoy mellei ⸀ballein ho diabolos ex hymon eis phylaken hina peirasthete, kai ⸀hexete thlipsin hemeron deka. ginou pistos achri thanatou, kai doso soi ton stephanon tes zoes.

Edified Edition (EDE)"Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that you may be tried; and you shall have tribulation ten days: be you faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

⸀μηδὲν φοβοῦ ἃ μέλλεις ⸀πάσχειν. ⸀ἰδοὺ μέλλει ⸀βάλλειν ὁ διάβολος ἐξ ὑμῶν εἰς φυλακὴν ἵνα πειρασθῆτε, καὶ ⸀ἕξετε θλῖψιν ἡμερῶν δέκα. γίνου πιστὸς ἄχρι θανάτου, καὶ δώσω σοι τὸν στέφανον τῆς ζωῆς.

Phonetic (Greek): ho echon oys akousato ti to pneyma legei tais ekklesiais. ho nikon oy me adikethῇ ek toy thanatou toy deuterou.

Edified Edition (EDE)"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."

ὁ ἔχων οὖς ἀκουσάτω τί τὸ πνεῦμα λέγει ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις. ὁ νικῶν οὐ μὴ ἀδικηθῇ ἐκ τοῦ θανάτου τοῦ δευτέρου.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai tῷ angelῳ tes en Pergamῳ ekklesias grapson· Tade legei ho echon ten ῥomphaian ten distomon ten oxeian·

Edified Edition (EDE)And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; "These things says He who has the sharp sword with two edges;

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῆς ἐν Περγάμῳ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ ἔχων τὴν ῥομφαίαν τὴν δίστομον τὴν ὀξεῖαν·

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀Oida poy katoikeis, hopou ho thronos toy Satana, kai krateis to onoma mou, kai oyk erneso ten pistin mou ⸀kai en tais ⸀hemerais Ἀntipas, ho martys mou, ho pistos ⸀mou, hos apektanthe parʼ hymin, hopou ho Satanas katoikei.

Edified Edition (EDE)"I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan’s seat is: and you hold fast My name, and have not denied My faith, even in those days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

⸀Οἶδα ποῦ κατοικεῖς, ὅπου ὁ θρόνος τοῦ Σατανᾶ, καὶ κρατεῖς τὸ ὄνομά μου, καὶ οὐκ ἠρνήσω τὴν πίστιν μου ⸀καὶ ἐν ταῖς ⸀ἡμέραις Ἀντιπᾶς, ὁ μάρτυς μου, ὁ πιστός ⸀μου, ὃς ἀπεκτάνθη παρʼ ὑμῖν, ὅπου ὁ Σατανᾶς κατοικεῖ.

Phonetic (Greek): alla echo kata soy oliga, hoti echeis ekei kratoyntas ten didachen Balaam, hos ⸂edidasken tῷ⸃ Balak balein skandalon enopion ton yhion Ἰsrael, ⸀phagein eidolothyta kai porneysai·

Edified Edition (EDE)"But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

ἀλλὰ ἔχω κατὰ σοῦ ὀλίγα, ὅτι ἔχεις ἐκεῖ κρατοῦντας τὴν διδαχὴν Βαλαάμ, ὃς ⸂ἐδίδασκεν τῷ⸃ Βαλὰκ βαλεῖν σκάνδαλον ἐνώπιον τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, ⸀φαγεῖν εἰδωλόθυτα καὶ πορνεῦσαι·

Phonetic (Greek): ohytos echeis kai sy kratoyntas ten ⸀didachen Nikolaiton homoios.

Edified Edition (EDE)"So have you also those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

οὕτως ἔχεις καὶ σὺ κρατοῦντας τὴν ⸀διδαχὴν Νικολαϊτῶν ὁμοίως.

Phonetic (Greek): metanoeson oyn· ei de me, erchomai soi tachy, kai polemeso metʼ ayton en tῇ ῥomphaiᾳ toy stomatos mou.

Edified Edition (EDE)"Repent; or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

μετανόησον οὖν· εἰ δὲ μή, ἔρχομαί σοι ταχύ, καὶ πολεμήσω μετʼ αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ τοῦ στόματός μου.

Phonetic (Greek): ho echon oys akousato ti to pneyma legei tais ekklesiais. tῷ nikonti doso ⸀aytῷ toy manna toy kekrymmenou, kai doso aytῷ psephon leuken, kai epi ten psephon onoma kainon gegrammenon ho oydeis oiden ei me ho lambanon.

Edified Edition (EDE)"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him who overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no one knows except he who receives it."

ὁ ἔχων οὖς ἀκουσάτω τί τὸ πνεῦμα λέγει ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις. τῷ νικῶντι δώσω ⸀αὐτῷ τοῦ μάννα τοῦ κεκρυμμένου, καὶ δώσω αὐτῷ ψῆφον λευκήν, καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν ψῆφον ὄνομα καινὸν γεγραμμένον ὃ οὐδεὶς οἶδεν εἰ μὴ ὁ λαμβάνων.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai tῷ angelῳ ⸀tes en Thyateirois ekklesias grapson· Tade legei ho yhios toy theoy, ho echon toys ophthalmoys aytoy hos phloga pyros, kai ohi podes aytoy homoioi chalkolibanῳ·

Edified Edition (EDE)And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write; "These things says the Son of God, who has His eyes like to a flame of fire, and His feet are like fine brass;

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ ⸀τῆς ἐν Θυατείροις ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ, ὁ ἔχων τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ ὡς φλόγα πυρός, καὶ οἱ πόδες αὐτοῦ ὅμοιοι χαλκολιβάνῳ·

Phonetic (Greek): Oida sou ta erga, kai ten ⸂agapen kai ten pistin⸃ kai ten diakonian kai ten hypomonen sou, kai ta erga sou ta eschata pleiona ton proton.

Edified Edition (EDE)"I know your works, and love, and service, and faith, and your patience, and your works; and the last to be more than the first.

Οἶδά σου τὰ ἔργα, καὶ τὴν ⸂ἀγάπην καὶ τὴν πίστιν⸃ καὶ τὴν διακονίαν καὶ τὴν ὑπομονήν σου, καὶ τὰ ἔργα σου τὰ ἔσχατα πλείονα τῶν πρώτων.

Phonetic (Greek): alla echo kata soy hoti apheis ten ⸀gynaika Ἰezabel, he ⸀legousa heauten prophetin, kai didaskei kai planᾷ toys emoys doylous porneysai kai phagein eidolothyta.

Edified Edition (EDE)"Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

ἀλλὰ ἔχω κατὰ σοῦ ὅτι ἀφεῖς τὴν ⸀γυναῖκα Ἰεζάβελ, ἡ ⸀λέγουσα ἑαυτὴν προφῆτιν, καὶ διδάσκει καὶ πλανᾷ τοὺς ἐμοὺς δούλους πορνεῦσαι καὶ φαγεῖν εἰδωλόθυτα.

Phonetic (Greek): kai edoka aytῇ chronon hina metanoesῃ, kai oy thelei metanoesai ek tes porneias aytes.

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτῇ χρόνον ἵνα μετανοήσῃ, καὶ οὐ θέλει μετανοῆσαι ἐκ τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς.

Phonetic (Greek): idoy ballo ayten eis klinen, kai toys moicheyontas metʼ aytes eis thlipsin megalen, ean me ⸀metanoesosin ek ton ergon aytes·

Edified Edition (EDE)"Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

ἰδοὺ βάλλω αὐτὴν εἰς κλίνην, καὶ τοὺς μοιχεύοντας μετʼ αὐτῆς εἰς θλῖψιν μεγάλην, ἐὰν μὴ ⸀μετανοήσωσιν ἐκ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῆς·

Phonetic (Greek): kai ta tekna aytes apokteno en thanatῳ· kai gnosontai pasai ahi ekklesiai hoti ego eimi ho eraunon nephroys kai kardias, kai doso hymin hekastῳ kata ta erga hymon.

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the hearts and minds: and I will give to every one of you according to your works.

καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς ἀποκτενῶ ἐν θανάτῳ· καὶ γνώσονται πᾶσαι αἱ ἐκκλησίαι ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἐραυνῶν νεφροὺς καὶ καρδίας, καὶ δώσω ὑμῖν ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα ὑμῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): hymin de lego tois loipois tois en Thyateirois, hosoi oyk echousin ten didachen tayten, ohitines oyk egnosan ta bathea toy Satana, hos legousin, oy ballo ephʼ hymas allo baros·

Edified Edition (EDE)"But to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you no other burden.

ὑμῖν δὲ λέγω τοῖς λοιποῖς τοῖς ἐν Θυατείροις, ὅσοι οὐκ ἔχουσιν τὴν διδαχὴν ταύτην, οἵτινες οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὰ βαθέα τοῦ Σατανᾶ, ὡς λέγουσιν, οὐ βάλλω ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς ἄλλο βάρος·

Phonetic (Greek): plen ho echete kratesate achri ohy an hexo.

Edified Edition (EDE)"But that which you have already hold fast until I come.

πλὴν ὃ ἔχετε κρατήσατε ἄχρι οὗ ἂν ἥξω.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ho nikon kai ho teron achri telous ta erga mou, doso aytῷ exousian epi ton ethnon,

Edified Edition (EDE)"And he who overcomes, and keeps My works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

καὶ ὁ νικῶν καὶ ὁ τηρῶν ἄχρι τέλους τὰ ἔργα μου, δώσω αὐτῷ ἐξουσίαν ἐπὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai poimanei aytoys en ῥabdῳ siderᾷ hos ta skeye ta keramika ⸀syntribetai,

Edified Edition (EDE)"And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to pieces: even as I received from My Father.

καὶ ποιμανεῖ αὐτοὺς ἐν ῥάβδῳ σιδηρᾷ ὡς τὰ σκεύη τὰ κεραμικὰ ⸀συντρίβεται,

Phonetic (Greek): hos kago eilepha para toy patros mou, kai doso aytῷ ton astera ton proinon.

Edified Edition (EDE)"And I will give him the morning star.

ὡς κἀγὼ εἴληφα παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου, καὶ δώσω αὐτῷ τὸν ἀστέρα τὸν πρωϊνόν.
