Chapter 9
1
Phonetic (Greek): Kai ho pemptos angelos esalpisen· kai eidon astera ek toy oyranoy peptokota eis ten gen, kai edothe aytῷ he kleis toy phreatos tes abyssou·
Edified Edition (EDE)And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven to the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

Καὶ ὁ πέμπτος ἄγγελος ἐσάλπισεν· καὶ εἶδον ἀστέρα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ πεπτωκότα εἰς τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ἡ κλεὶς τοῦ φρέατος τῆς ἀβύσσου·

Phonetic (Greek): kai enoixen to phrear tes abyssou, kai anebe kapnos ek toy phreatos hos kapnos kaminou ⸀megales, kai ⸀eskotothe ho helios kai ho aer ek toy kapnoy toy phreatos.
Edified Edition (EDE)And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

καὶ ἤνοιξεν τὸ φρέαρ τῆς ἀβύσσου, καὶ ἀνέβη καπνὸς ἐκ τοῦ φρέατος ὡς καπνὸς καμίνου ⸀μεγάλης, καὶ ⸀ἐσκοτώθη ὁ ἥλιος καὶ ὁ ἀὴρ ἐκ τοῦ καπνοῦ τοῦ φρέατος.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ek toy kapnoy exelthon akrides eis ten gen, kai edothe aytais exousia hos echousin exousian ohi skorpioi tes ges.
Edified Edition (EDE)And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

καὶ ἐκ τοῦ καπνοῦ ἐξῆλθον ἀκρίδες εἰς τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἐδόθη αὐταῖς ἐξουσία ὡς ἔχουσιν ἐξουσίαν οἱ σκορπίοι τῆς γῆς.

Phonetic (Greek): kai errethe aytais hina me ⸀adikesousin ton chorton tes ges oyde pan chloron oyde pan dendron, ei me toys anthropous ohitines oyk echousi ten sphragida toy theoy epi ton ⸀metopon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those people who have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

καὶ ἐρρέθη αὐταῖς ἵνα μὴ ⸀ἀδικήσουσιν τὸν χόρτον τῆς γῆς οὐδὲ πᾶν χλωρὸν οὐδὲ πᾶν δένδρον, εἰ μὴ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους οἵτινες οὐκ ἔχουσι τὴν σφραγῖδα τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τῶν ⸀μετώπων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai edothe ⸀aytois hina me apokteinosin aytoys, allʼ hina ⸀basanisthesontai menas pente· kai ho basanismos ayton hos basanismos skorpiou, hotan paisῃ anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he strikes a person.

καὶ ἐδόθη ⸀αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτούς, ἀλλʼ ἵνα ⸀βασανισθήσονται μῆνας πέντε· καὶ ὁ βασανισμὸς αὐτῶν ὡς βασανισμὸς σκορπίου, ὅταν παίσῃ ἄνθρωπον.

Phonetic (Greek): kai en tais hemerais ekeinais zetesousin ohi anthropoi ton thanaton kai oy me ehyresousin ayton, kai epithymesousin apothanein kai ⸀pheygei ⸂ho thanatos apʼ ayton⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)And in those days shall people seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ζητήσουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι τὸν θάνατον καὶ οὐ μὴ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτόν, καὶ ἐπιθυμήσουσιν ἀποθανεῖν καὶ ⸀φεύγει ⸂ὁ θάνατος ἀπʼ αὐτῶν⸃.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ta homoiomata ton akridon homoia hippois hetoimasmenois eis polemon, kai epi tas kephalas ayton hos stephanoi ⸂homoioi chrysῷ⸃, kai ta prosopa ayton hos prosopa anthropon,
Edified Edition (EDE)And the shapes of the locusts were like to horses prepared to battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of people.

Καὶ τὰ ὁμοιώματα τῶν ἀκρίδων ὅμοια ἵπποις ἡτοιμασμένοις εἰς πόλεμον, καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν ὡς στέφανοι ⸂ὅμοιοι χρυσῷ⸃, καὶ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ὡς πρόσωπα ἀνθρώπων,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eichon trichas hos trichas gynaikon, kai ohi odontes ayton hos leonton esan,
Edified Edition (EDE)And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

καὶ εἶχον τρίχας ὡς τρίχας γυναικῶν, καὶ οἱ ὀδόντες αὐτῶν ὡς λεόντων ἦσαν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai eichon thorakas hos thorakas sideroys, kai he phone ton pterygon ayton hos phone harmaton hippon pollon trechonton eis polemon·
Edified Edition (EDE)And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.

καὶ εἶχον θώρακας ὡς θώρακας σιδηροῦς, καὶ ἡ φωνὴ τῶν πτερύγων αὐτῶν ὡς φωνὴ ἁρμάτων ἵππων πολλῶν τρεχόντων εἰς πόλεμον·

Phonetic (Greek): kai echousin oyras homoias skorpiois kai kentra, kai en tais oyrais ayton ⸂he exousia ayton⸃ adikesai toys anthropous menas pente.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt people five months.

καὶ ἔχουσιν οὐρὰς ὁμοίας σκορπίοις καὶ κέντρα, καὶ ἐν ταῖς οὐραῖς αὐτῶν ⸂ἡ ἐξουσία αὐτῶν⸃ ἀδικῆσαι τοὺς ἀνθρώπους μῆνας πέντε.

Phonetic (Greek): ⸂echousin epʼ ayton basilea ton⸃ angelon tes abyssou· onoma aytῷ Ἑbraisti Ἀbaddon, ⸂kai en⸃ tῇ Ἑllenikῇ onoma echei Ἀpollyon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue has his name Apollyon.

⸂ἔχουσιν ἐπʼ αὐτῶν βασιλέα τὸν⸃ ἄγγελον τῆς ἀβύσσου· ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἑβραϊστὶ Ἀβαδδών, ⸂καὶ ἐν⸃ τῇ Ἑλληνικῇ ὄνομα ἔχει Ἀπολλύων.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἡ oyai he mia apelthen· idoy erchetai eti dyo oyai meta tayta.
Edified Edition (EDE)One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

Ἡ οὐαὶ ἡ μία ἀπῆλθεν· ἰδοὺ ἔρχεται ἔτι δύο οὐαὶ μετὰ ταῦτα.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ho hektos angelos esalpisen· kai ekousa phonen mian ek ⸀ton keraton toy thysiasteriou toy chrysoy toy enopion toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

Καὶ ὁ ἕκτος ἄγγελος ἐσάλπισεν· καὶ ἤκουσα φωνὴν μίαν ἐκ ⸀τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ χρυσοῦ τοῦ ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀legonta tῷ hektῳ angelῳ, ho echon ten salpinga· Lyson toys tessaras angelous toys dedemenous epi tῷ potamῷ tῷ megalῳ Eyphratῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)Saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Loose the four angels who are bound in the great river Euphrates."

⸀λέγοντα τῷ ἕκτῳ ἀγγέλῳ, ὁ ἔχων τὴν σάλπιγγα· Λῦσον τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀγγέλους τοὺς δεδεμένους ἐπὶ τῷ ποταμῷ τῷ μεγάλῳ Εὐφράτῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai elythesan ohi tessares angeloi ohi hetoimasmenoi eis ten horan ⸀kai hemeran kai mena kai eniauton, hina apokteinosin to triton ton anthropon.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, to slay the third part of people.

καὶ ἐλύθησαν οἱ τέσσαρες ἄγγελοι οἱ ἡτοιμασμένοι εἰς τὴν ὥραν ⸀καὶ ἡμέραν καὶ μῆνα καὶ ἐνιαυτόν, ἵνα ἀποκτείνωσιν τὸ τρίτον τῶν ἀνθρώπων.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ho arithmos ton strateumaton toy ⸀hippikoy ⸀dismyriades myriadon· ekousa ton arithmon ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

καὶ ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν στρατευμάτων τοῦ ⸀ἱππικοῦ ⸀δισμυριάδες μυριάδων· ἤκουσα τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): kai ohytos eidon toys hippous en tῇ horasei kai toys kathemenous epʼ ayton, echontas thorakas pyrinous kai hyakinthinous kai theiodeis· kai ahi kephalai ton hippon hos kephalai leonton, kai ek ton stomaton ayton ekporeyetai pyr kai kapnos kai theion.
Edified Edition (EDE)And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

καὶ οὕτως εἶδον τοὺς ἵππους ἐν τῇ ὁράσει καὶ τοὺς καθημένους ἐπʼ αὐτῶν, ἔχοντας θώρακας πυρίνους καὶ ὑακινθίνους καὶ θειώδεις· καὶ αἱ κεφαλαὶ τῶν ἵππων ὡς κεφαλαὶ λεόντων, καὶ ἐκ τῶν στομάτων αὐτῶν ἐκπορεύεται πῦρ καὶ καπνὸς καὶ θεῖον.

Phonetic (Greek): apo ton trion plegon toyton apektanthesan to triton ton anthropon, ⸀ek toy pyros kai toy kapnoy kai toy theiou toy ekporeuomenou ek ton stomaton ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)By these three was the third part of people killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

ἀπὸ τῶν τριῶν πληγῶν τούτων ἀπεκτάνθησαν τὸ τρίτον τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ⸀ἐκ τοῦ πυρὸς καὶ τοῦ καπνοῦ καὶ τοῦ θείου τοῦ ἐκπορευομένου ἐκ τῶν στομάτων αὐτῶν.

Phonetic (Greek): he gar exousia ton hippon en tῷ stomati ayton estin kai en tais oyrais ayton· ahi gar oyrai ayton homoiai ⸀ophesin, echousai kephalas, kai en aytais adikoysin.
Edified Edition (EDE)For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like to serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

ἡ γὰρ ἐξουσία τῶν ἵππων ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτῶν ἐστιν καὶ ἐν ταῖς οὐραῖς αὐτῶν· αἱ γὰρ οὐραὶ αὐτῶν ὅμοιαι ⸀ὄφεσιν, ἔχουσαι κεφαλάς, καὶ ἐν αὐταῖς ἀδικοῦσιν.

Phonetic (Greek): Kai ohi loipoi ton anthropon, ohi oyk apektanthesan en tais plegais taytais, ⸀oyde metenoesan ek ton ergon ton cheiron ayton, hina me ⸀proskynesousin ta daimonia kai ta eidola ta chrysa kai ta argyra kai ta chalka kai ta lithina kai ta xylina, ha oyte blepein ⸀dynantai oyte akoyein oyte peripatein,
Edified Edition (EDE)And the rest of the people who were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, οἳ οὐκ ἀπεκτάνθησαν ἐν ταῖς πληγαῖς ταύταις, ⸀οὐδὲ μετενόησαν ἐκ τῶν ἔργων τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν, ἵνα μὴ ⸀προσκυνήσουσιν τὰ δαιμόνια καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ χρυσᾶ καὶ τὰ ἀργυρᾶ καὶ τὰ χαλκᾶ καὶ τὰ λίθινα καὶ τὰ ξύλινα, ἃ οὔτε βλέπειν ⸀δύνανται οὔτε ἀκούειν οὔτε περιπατεῖν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai oy metenoesan ek ton phonon ayton oyte ek ton ⸀pharmakon ayton oyte ek tes porneias ayton oyte ek ton klemmaton ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

καὶ οὐ μετενόησαν ἐκ τῶν φόνων αὐτῶν οὔτε ἐκ τῶν ⸀φαρμάκων αὐτῶν οὔτε ἐκ τῆς πορνείας αὐτῶν οὔτε ἐκ τῶν κλεμμάτων αὐτῶν.
