Romans

Chapter 10
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀdelphoi, he men eydokia tes emes kardias kai he ⸀deesis pros ton theon hyper ⸀ayton eis soterian.
Edified Edition (EDE)Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

2
Phonetic (Greek): martyro gar aytois hoti zelon theoy echousin· allʼ oy katʼ epignosin,
Edified Edition (EDE)For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

3
Phonetic (Greek): agnooyntes gar ten toy theoy dikaiosynen, kai ten ⸀idian zetoyntes stesai, tῇ dikaiosynῃ toy theoy oych hypetagesan·
Edified Edition (EDE)For they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

4
Phonetic (Greek): telos gar nomou Christos eis dikaiosynen panti tῷ pisteyonti.
Edified Edition (EDE)For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

5
Phonetic (Greek): Moyses gar graphei ⸂hoti ten dikaiosynen ten ek ⸀toy nomou⸃ ho ⸀poiesas anthropos zesetai en ⸀aytῇ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them."

6
Phonetic (Greek): he de ek pisteos dikaiosyne ohytos legei· Me eipῃs en tῇ kardiᾳ sou· Tis anabesetai eis ton oyranon; toytʼ estin Christon katagagein·
Edified Edition (EDE)But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’" (that is, to bring Christ down from above)

7
Phonetic (Greek): e· Tis katabesetai eis ten abysson; toytʼ estin Christon ek nekron anagagein.
Edified Edition (EDE)or, "‘Who will descend into the abyss?’" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

8
Phonetic (Greek): alla ti legei; Ἐngys sou to ῥema estin, en tῷ stomati sou kai en tῇ kardiᾳ sou, toytʼ estin to ῥema tes pisteos ho keryssomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):

9
Phonetic (Greek): hoti ean ⸀homologesῃs en tῷ stomati ⸀sou kyrion Ἰesoyn, kai pisteysῃs en tῇ kardiᾳ sou hoti ho theos ayton egeiren ek nekron, sothesῃ·
Edified Edition (EDE)that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

10
Phonetic (Greek): kardiᾳ gar pisteyetai eis dikaiosynen, stomati de homologeitai eis soterian·
Edified Edition (EDE)For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11
Phonetic (Greek): legei gar he graphe· Pas ho pisteyon epʼ aytῷ oy kataischynthesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."

12
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar estin diastole Ἰoudaiou te kai Ἕllenos, ho gar aytos kyrios panton, plouton eis pantas toys epikaloumenous ayton·
Edified Edition (EDE)For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

13
Phonetic (Greek): Pas gar hos an epikalesetai to onoma kyriou sothesetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

14
Phonetic (Greek): Pos oyn ⸀epikalesontai eis hon oyk episteusan; pos de ⸀pisteysosin ohy oyk ekousan; pos de ⸀akoysosin choris keryssontos;
Edified Edition (EDE)How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

Πῶς οὖν ⸀ἐπικαλέσωνται εἰς ὃν οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν; πῶς δὲ ⸀πιστεύσωσιν οὗ οὐκ ἤκουσαν; πῶς δὲ ⸀ἀκούσωσιν χωρὶς κηρύσσοντος;

15
Phonetic (Greek): pos de ⸀keryxosin ean me apostalosin; ⸀kathos gegraptai· Ὡs horaioi ohi podes ton ⸀eyangelizomenon ⸀ta agatha.
Edified Edition (EDE)And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!"

16
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ oy pantes hypekousan tῷ eyangeliῳ· Ἠsaias gar legei· Kyrie, tis episteusen tῇ akoῇ hemon;
Edified Edition (EDE)But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"

ἀλλʼ οὐ πάντες ὑπήκουσαν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ· Ἠσαΐας γὰρ λέγει· Κύριε, τίς ἐπίστευσεν τῇ ἀκοῇ ἡμῶν;

17
Phonetic (Greek): ara he pistis ex akoes, he de akoe dia ῥematos ⸀Christoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀlla lego, me oyk ekousan; menoynge· Eis pasan ten gen exelthen ho phthongos ayton, kai eis ta perata tes oikoumenes ta ῥemata ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: "Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world."

19
Phonetic (Greek): alla lego, me ⸂Ἰsrael oyk egno⸃; protos Moyses legei· Ἐgo parazeloso hymas epʼ oyk ethnei, epʼ ethnei asynetῳ parorgio hymas.
Edified Edition (EDE)But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says: "I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will move you to anger by a foolish nation."

20
Phonetic (Greek): Ἠsaias de apotolmᾷ kai legei· Ehyrethen ⸀en tois eme me zetoysin, emphanes ⸀egenomen tois eme me eperotosin.
Edified Edition (EDE)But Isaiah is very bold and says: "I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me."

21
Phonetic (Greek): pros de ton Ἰsrael legei· Ὅlen ten hemeran exepetasa tas cheiras mou pros laon apeithoynta kai antilegonta.
Edified Edition (EDE)But to Israel he says: "All day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and contrary people."
