Chapter 13
1
Phonetic (Greek): Pasa psyche exousiais hyperechoysais hypotassestho, oy gar estin exousia ei me hypo theoy, ahi de ⸀oysai ⸀hypo theoy tetagmenai eisin.
Edified Edition (EDE)Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

2
Phonetic (Greek): hoste ho antitassomenos tῇ exousiᾳ tῇ toy theoy diatagῇ anthesteken, ohi de anthestekotes heautois krima lempsontai.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves.

3
Phonetic (Greek): ohi gar archontes oyk eisin phobos ⸂tῷ agathῷ ergῳ⸃ alla ⸂tῷ kakῷ⸃. theleis de me phobeisthai ten exousian; to agathon poiei, kai hexeis epainon ex aytes·
Edified Edition (EDE)For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.

4
Phonetic (Greek): theoy gar diakonos estin soi eis to agathon. ean de to kakon poiῇs, phoboy· oy gar eikῇ ten machairan phorei· theoy gar diakonos estin, ekdikos eis orgen tῷ to kakon prassonti.
Edified Edition (EDE)For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practises evil.

5
Phonetic (Greek): dio ananke hypotassesthai, oy monon dia ten orgen alla kai dia ten syneidesin,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.

6
Phonetic (Greek): dia toyto gar kai phorous teleite, leitourgoi gar theoy eisin eis ayto toyto proskarteroyntes.
Edified Edition (EDE)For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing.

7
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀apodote pasi tas opheilas, tῷ ton phoron ton phoron, tῷ to telos to telos, tῷ ton phobon ton phobon, tῷ ten timen ten timen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour.

8
Phonetic (Greek): Medeni meden opheilete, ei me to ⸂allelous agapan⸃· ho gar agapon ton heteron nomon pepleroken.
Edified Edition (EDE)Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

9
Phonetic (Greek): to gar· Oy moicheyseis, Oy phoneyseis, Oy klepseis, Oyk epithymeseis, kai ei tis hetera entole, en ⸂tῷ logῳ toytῳ⸃ anakephalaioytai, ⸂en tῷ⸃· Ἀgapeseis ton plesion sou hos seauton.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself."

10
Phonetic (Greek): he agape tῷ plesion kakon oyk ergazetai· pleroma oyn nomou he agape.
Edified Edition (EDE)Love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.

11
Phonetic (Greek): Kai toyto eidotes ton kairon, hoti hora ⸂ede hymas⸃ ex hypnou egerthenai, nyn gar engyteron hemon he soteria e hote episteysamen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

12
Phonetic (Greek): he nyx proekopsen, he de hemera engiken. ⸀apobalometha oyn ta erga toy skotous, ⸂endysometha de⸃ ta hopla toy photos.
Edified Edition (EDE)The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13
Phonetic (Greek): hos en hemerᾳ eyschemonos peripatesomen, me komois kai methais, me koitais kai aselgeiais, me eridi kai zelῳ,
Edified Edition (EDE)Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.

14
Phonetic (Greek): alla endysasthe ton kyrion Ἰesoyn Christon, kai tes sarkos pronoian me poieisthe eis epithymias.
Edified Edition (EDE)But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts.
