Chapter 2
1
Phonetic (Greek): Dio anapologetos ei, o anthrope pas ho krinon· en ho gar krineis ton heteron, seauton katakrineis, ta gar ayta prasseis ho krinon·
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practise the same things.

2
Phonetic (Greek): oidamen de hoti to krima toy theoy estin kata aletheian epi toys ta toiayta prassontas.
Edified Edition (EDE)But we know that the judgement of God is according to truth against those who practise such things.

3
Phonetic (Greek): logizῃ de toyto, o anthrope ho krinon toys ta toiayta prassontas kai poion ayta, hoti sy ekpheyxῃ to krima toy theoy;
Edified Edition (EDE)And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practising such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgement of God?

λογίζῃ δὲ τοῦτο, ὦ ἄνθρωπε ὁ κρίνων τοὺς τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντας καὶ ποιῶν αὐτά, ὅτι σὺ ἐκφεύξῃ τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ;

4
Phonetic (Greek): e toy ploytou tes chrestotetos aytoy kai tes anoches kai tes makrothymias kataphroneis, agnoon hoti to chreston toy theoy eis metanoian se agei;
Edified Edition (EDE)Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

ἢ τοῦ πλούτου τῆς χρηστότητος αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς ἀνοχῆς καὶ τῆς μακροθυμίας καταφρονεῖς, ἀγνοῶν ὅτι τὸ χρηστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς μετάνοιάν σε ἄγει;

5
Phonetic (Greek): kata de ten skleroteta sou kai ametanoeton kardian thesaurizeis seautῷ orgen en hemerᾳ orges kai ⸀apokalypseos dikaiokrisias toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God,

6
Phonetic (Greek): hos apodosei hekastῳ kata ta erga aytoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)who "will render to each one according to his deeds":

7
Phonetic (Greek): tois men kathʼ hypomonen ergou agathoy doxan kai timen kai aphtharsian zetoysin zoen aionion·
Edified Edition (EDE)eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honour, and immortality;

Edified Edition (EDE)but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

9
Phonetic (Greek): thlipsis kai stenochoria, epi pasan psychen anthropou toy katergazomenou to kakon, Ἰoudaiou te proton kai Ἕllenos·
Edified Edition (EDE)tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;

10
Phonetic (Greek): doxa de kai time kai eirene panti tῷ ergazomenῳ to agathon, Ἰoudaiῳ te proton kai Ἕlleni·
Edified Edition (EDE)but glory, honour, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

11
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar estin prosopolempsia para tῷ theῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For there is no partiality with God.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Ὅsoi gar anomos hemarton, anomos kai apoloyntai· kai hosoi en nomῳ hemarton, dia nomou krithesontai·
Edified Edition (EDE)For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law

13
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar ohi akroatai ⸀nomou dikaioi para ⸀tῷ theῷ, allʼ ohi poietai ⸁nomou dikaiothesontai.
Edified Edition (EDE)(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

14
Phonetic (Greek): hotan gar ethne ta me nomon echonta physei ta toy nomou ⸀poiosin, ohytoi nomon me echontes heautois eisin nomos·
Edified Edition (EDE)for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,

15
Phonetic (Greek): ohitines endeiknyntai to ergon toy nomou grapton en tais kardiais ayton, symmartyroyses ayton tes syneideseos kai metaxy allelon ton logismon kategoroynton e kai apologoumenon,
Edified Edition (EDE)who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)

16
Phonetic (Greek): en ⸂hemerᾳ hote⸃ ⸀krinei ho theos ta krypta ton anthropon kata to eyangelion mou dia ⸂Christoy Ἰesoy⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

17
Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Ei de⸃ sy Ἰoudaios eponomazῃ kai epanapayῃ ⸀nomῳ kai kauchasai en theῷ
Edified Edition (EDE)Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God,

18
Phonetic (Greek): kai ginoskeis to thelema kai dokimazeis ta diapheronta katechoymenos ek toy nomou,
Edified Edition (EDE)and know His will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

Edified Edition (EDE)and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

20
Phonetic (Greek): paideuten aphronon, didaskalon nepion, echonta ten morphosin tes gnoseos kai tes aletheias en tῷ nomῳ—
Edified Edition (EDE)an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and truth in the law.

21
Phonetic (Greek): ho oyn didaskon heteron seauton oy didaskeis; ho kerysson me kleptein klepteis;
Edified Edition (EDE)You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?

ὁ οὖν διδάσκων ἕτερον σεαυτὸν οὐ διδάσκεις; ὁ κηρύσσων μὴ κλέπτειν κλέπτεις;

22
Phonetic (Greek): ho legon me moicheyein moicheyeis; ho bdelyssomenos ta eidola hierosyleis;
Edified Edition (EDE)You who say, "Do not commit adultery," do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

ὁ λέγων μὴ μοιχεύειν μοιχεύεις; ὁ βδελυσσόμενος τὰ εἴδωλα ἱεροσυλεῖς;

23
Phonetic (Greek): hos en nomῳ kauchasai, dia tes parabaseos toy nomou ton theon atimazeis;
Edified Edition (EDE)You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonour God through breaking the law?

ὃς ἐν νόμῳ καυχᾶσαι, διὰ τῆς παραβάσεως τοῦ νόμου τὸν θεὸν ἀτιμάζεις;

24
Phonetic (Greek): to gar onoma toy theoy diʼ hymas blasphemeitai en tois ethnesin, kathos gegraptai.
Edified Edition (EDE)For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," as it is written.

25
Phonetic (Greek): Peritome men gar ophelei ean nomon prassῃs· ean de parabates nomou es, he peritome sou akrobystia gegonen.
Edified Edition (EDE)For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

26
Phonetic (Greek): ean oyn he akrobystia ta dikaiomata toy nomou phylassῃ, ⸀oych he akrobystia aytoy eis peritomen logisthesetai;
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?

ἐὰν οὖν ἡ ἀκροβυστία τὰ δικαιώματα τοῦ νόμου φυλάσσῃ, ⸀οὐχ ἡ ἀκροβυστία αὐτοῦ εἰς περιτομὴν λογισθήσεται;

27
Phonetic (Greek): kai krinei he ek physeos akrobystia ton nomon teloysa se ton dia grammatos kai peritomes parabaten nomou.
Edified Edition (EDE)And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfils the law, judge you who, even with your written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law?

28
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar ho en tῷ phanerῷ Ἰoudaios estin, oyde he en tῷ phanerῷ en sarki peritome·
Edified Edition (EDE)For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh;

29
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ ho en tῷ kryptῷ Ἰoudaios, kai peritome kardias en pneymati oy grammati, ohy ho epainos oyk ex anthropon allʼ ek toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.
