Chapter 3
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ti oyn to perisson toy Ἰoudaiou, e tis he opheleia tes peritomes;
Edified Edition (EDE)What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?

Τί οὖν τὸ περισσὸν τοῦ Ἰουδαίου, ἢ τίς ἡ ὠφέλεια τῆς περιτομῆς;

2
Phonetic (Greek): poly kata panta tropon. proton men ⸀gar hoti episteythesan ta logia toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.

3
Phonetic (Greek): ti gar; ei epistesan tines, me he apistia ayton ten pistin toy theoy katargesei;
Edified Edition (EDE)For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?

τί γάρ; εἰ ἠπίστησάν τινες, μὴ ἡ ἀπιστία αὐτῶν τὴν πίστιν τοῦ θεοῦ καταργήσει;

4
Phonetic (Greek): me genoito· ginestho de ho theos alethes, pas de anthropos pseystes, ⸀kathos gegraptai· Ὅpos an dikaiothῇs en tois logois sou kai ⸀nikeseis en tῷ krinesthai se.
Edified Edition (EDE)Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged."

5
Phonetic (Greek): ei de he adikia hemon theoy dikaiosynen synistesin, ti eroymen; me adikos ho theos ho epipheron ten orgen; kata anthropon lego.
Edified Edition (EDE)But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)

6
Phonetic (Greek): me genoito· epei pos krinei ho theos ton kosmon;
Edified Edition (EDE)Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?

μὴ γένοιτο· ἐπεὶ πῶς κρινεῖ ὁ θεὸς τὸν κόσμον;

7
Phonetic (Greek): ei ⸀de he aletheia toy theoy en tῷ emῷ pseysmati eperisseusen eis ten doxan aytoy, ti eti kago hos hamartolos krinomai,
Edified Edition (EDE)For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

8
Phonetic (Greek): kai me kathos blasphemoymetha kai kathos phasin tines hemas legein hoti Poiesomen ta kaka hina elthῃ ta agatha; hon to krima endikon estin.
Edified Edition (EDE)And why not say, "Let us do evil that good may come"?, as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.

9
Phonetic (Greek): Ti oyn; proechometha; oy pantos, proῃtiasametha gar Ἰoudaious te kai Ἕllenas pantas hyphʼ hamartian einai,
Edified Edition (EDE)What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

10
Phonetic (Greek): kathos gegraptai hoti Oyk estin dikaios oyde ehis,
Edified Edition (EDE)As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;

11
Phonetic (Greek): oyk estin ⸀ho synion, oyk estin ⸁ho ekzeton ton theon·
Edified Edition (EDE)There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.

12
Phonetic (Greek): pantes exeklinan, hama echreothesan· oyk ⸀estin poion chrestoteta, oyk estin heos henos.
Edified Edition (EDE)They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."

13
Phonetic (Greek): taphos aneῳgmenos ho larynx ayton, tais glossais ayton edolioysan, ios aspidon hypo ta cheile ayton,
Edified Edition (EDE)"Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practised deceit"; "The poison of asps is under their lips";

14
Phonetic (Greek): hon to stoma aras kai pikrias gemei·
Edified Edition (EDE)"Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."

15
Phonetic (Greek): oxeis ohi podes ayton ekcheai ahima,
Edified Edition (EDE)"Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16
Phonetic (Greek): syntrimma kai talaiporia en tais hodois ayton,
Edified Edition (EDE)Destruction and misery are in their ways;

17
Phonetic (Greek): kai hodon eirenes oyk egnosan.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the way of peace they have not known."

18
Phonetic (Greek): oyk estin phobos theoy apenanti ton ophthalmon ayton.
Edified Edition (EDE)"There is no fear of God before their eyes."

19
Phonetic (Greek): Oidamen de hoti hosa ho nomos legei tois en tῷ nomῳ lalei, hina pan stoma phragῇ kai hypodikos genetai pas ho kosmos tῷ theῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

20
Phonetic (Greek): dioti ex ergon nomou oy dikaiothesetai pasa sarx enopion aytoy, dia gar nomou epignosis hamartias.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21
Phonetic (Greek): Nyni de choris nomou dikaiosyne theoy pephanerotai, martyroumene hypo toy nomou kai ton propheton,
Edified Edition (EDE)But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,

22
Phonetic (Greek): dikaiosyne de theoy dia pisteos Ἰesoy Christoy, eis ⸀pantas toys pisteyontas, oy gar estin diastole.
Edified Edition (EDE)even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;

23
Phonetic (Greek): pantes gar hemarton kai hysteroyntai tes doxes toy theoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

24
Phonetic (Greek): dikaioymenoi dorean tῇ aytoy chariti dia tes apolytroseos tes en Christῷ Ἰesoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

25
Phonetic (Greek): hon proetheto ho theos hilasterion ⸀dia pisteos en tῷ aytoy ahimati eis endeixin tes dikaiosynes aytoy dia ten paresin ton progegonoton hamartematon
Edified Edition (EDE)whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

26
Phonetic (Greek): en tῇ anochῇ toy theoy, pros ⸀ten endeixin tes dikaiosynes aytoy en tῷ nyn kairῷ, eis to einai ayton dikaion kai dikaioynta ton ek pisteos Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

27
Phonetic (Greek): Poy oyn he kaychesis; exekleisthe. dia poiou nomou; ton ergon; oychi, alla dia nomou pisteos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.

28
Phonetic (Greek): logizometha ⸀gar ⸂dikaioysthai pistei⸃ anthropon choris ergon nomou.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

29
Phonetic (Greek): e Ἰoudaion ho theos monon; ⸀oychi kai ethnon; nai kai ethnon,
Edified Edition (EDE)Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also,

30
Phonetic (Greek): ⸀eiper ehis ho theos, hos dikaiosei peritomen ek pisteos kai akrobystian dia tes pisteos.
Edified Edition (EDE)since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

31
Phonetic (Greek): nomon oyn katargoymen dia tes pisteos; me genoito, alla nomon ⸀histanomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
