Chapter 5
1
Phonetic (Greek): Dikaiothentes oyn ek pisteos eirenen ⸀echomen pros ton theon dia toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy Christoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

2
Phonetic (Greek): diʼ ohy kai ten prosagogen eschekamen tῇ pistei eis ten charin tayten en he hestekamen, kai kauchometha epʼ elpidi tes doxes toy theoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

3
Phonetic (Greek): oy monon de, alla kai ⸀kauchometha en tais thlipsesin, eidotes hoti he thlipsis hypomonen katergazetai,
Edified Edition (EDE)And not only that, but we also rejoice in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;

4
Phonetic (Greek): he de hypomone dokimen, he de dokime elpida.
Edified Edition (EDE)and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

5
Phonetic (Greek): he de elpis oy kataischynei· hoti he agape toy theoy ekkechytai en tais kardiais hemon dia pneymatos hagiou toy dothentos hemin.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

6
Phonetic (Greek): ⸂Ἔti gar⸃ Christos onton hemon asthenon ⸀eti kata kairon hyper asebon apethanen.
Edified Edition (EDE)For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7
Phonetic (Greek): molis gar hyper dikaiou tis apothaneitai· hyper gar toy agathoy tacha tis kai tolmᾷ apothanein·
Edified Edition (EDE)For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.

8
Phonetic (Greek): synistesin de ten heautoy agapen eis hemas ho theos hoti eti hamartolon onton hemon Christos hyper hemon apethanen.
Edified Edition (EDE)But God shows His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9
Phonetic (Greek): pollῷ oyn mallon dikaiothentes nyn en tῷ ahimati aytoy sothesometha diʼ aytoy apo tes orges.
Edified Edition (EDE)Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

10
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar echthroi ontes katellagemen tῷ theῷ dia toy thanatou toy yhioy aytoy, pollῷ mallon katallagentes sothesometha en tῇ zoῇ aytoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

11
Phonetic (Greek): oy monon de, alla kai kauchomenoi en tῷ theῷ dia toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy Christoy, diʼ ohy nyn ten katallagen elabomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Dia toyto hosper diʼ henos anthropou he hamartia eis ton kosmon eiselthen kai dia tes hamartias ho thanatos, kai ohytos eis pantas anthropous ho thanatos dielthen ephʼ ho pantes hemarton—
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned,

Edified Edition (EDE)(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not accounted when there is no law.

14
Phonetic (Greek): alla ebasileusen ho thanatos apo Ἀdam mechri Moyseos kai epi toys me hamartesantas epi tῷ homoiomati tes parabaseos Ἀdam, hos estin typos toy mellontos.
Edified Edition (EDE)Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

15
Phonetic (Greek): Ἀllʼ oych hos to paraptoma, ohytos kai to charisma· ei gar tῷ toy henos paraptomati ohi polloi apethanon, pollῷ mallon he charis toy theoy kai he dorea en chariti tῇ toy henos anthropou Ἰesoy Christoy eis toys polloys eperisseusen.
Edified Edition (EDE)But the free gift is not like the offence. For if by the one man’s offence many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.

16
Phonetic (Greek): kai oych hos diʼ henos hamartesantos to dorema· to men gar krima ex henos eis katakrima, to de charisma ek pollon paraptomaton eis dikaioma.
Edified Edition (EDE)And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgement which came from one offence resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offences resulted in justification.

17
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar tῷ toy henos paraptomati ho thanatos ebasileusen dia toy henos, pollῷ mallon ohi ten perisseian tes charitos kai tes doreas tes dikaiosynes lambanontes en zoῇ basileysousin dia toy henos Ἰesoy Christoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)For if by the one man’s offence death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

18
Phonetic (Greek): Ἄra oyn hos diʼ henos paraptomatos eis pantas anthropous eis katakrima, ohytos kai diʼ henos dikaiomatos eis pantas anthropous eis dikaiosin zoes·
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, as through one man’s offence judgement came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

19
Phonetic (Greek): hosper gar dia tes parakoes toy henos anthropou hamartoloi katestathesan ohi polloi, ohytos kai dia tes hypakoes toy henos dikaioi katastathesontai ohi polloi.
Edified Edition (EDE)For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

20
Phonetic (Greek): nomos de pareiselthen hina pleonasῃ to paraptoma· ohy de epleonasen he hamartia, hypereperisseusen he charis,
Edified Edition (EDE)Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

21
Phonetic (Greek): hina hosper ebasileusen he hamartia en tῷ thanatῳ, ohytos kai he charis basileysῃ dia dikaiosynes eis zoen aionion dia Ἰesoy Christoy toy kyriou hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
