Chapter 6
1
Phonetic (Greek): Ti oyn eroymen; ⸀epimenomen tῇ hamartiᾳ, hina he charis pleonasῃ;
Edified Edition (EDE)What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν; ⸀ἐπιμένωμεν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, ἵνα ἡ χάρις πλεονάσῃ;

2
Phonetic (Greek): me genoito· ohitines apethanomen tῇ hamartiᾳ, pos eti zesomen en aytῇ;
Edified Edition (EDE)Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

μὴ γένοιτο· οἵτινες ἀπεθάνομεν τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ, πῶς ἔτι ζήσομεν ἐν αὐτῇ;

3
Phonetic (Greek): e agnoeite hoti hosoi ebaptisthemen eis Christon Ἰesoyn eis ton thanaton aytoy ebaptisthemen;
Edified Edition (EDE)Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into His death?

ἢ ἀγνοεῖτε ὅτι ὅσοι ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἰς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν εἰς τὸν θάνατον αὐτοῦ ἐβαπτίσθημεν;

4
Phonetic (Greek): synetaphemen oyn aytῷ dia toy baptismatos eis ton thanaton, hina hosper egerthe Christos ek nekron dia tes doxes toy patros, ohytos kai hemeis en kainoteti zoes peripatesomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5
Phonetic (Greek): Ei gar symphytoi gegonamen tῷ homoiomati toy thanatou aytoy, alla kai tes anastaseos esometha·
Edified Edition (EDE)For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,

6
Phonetic (Greek): toyto ginoskontes hoti ho palaios hemon anthropos synestaurothe, hina katargethῇ to soma tes hamartias, toy meketi douleyein hemas tῇ hamartiᾳ,
Edified Edition (EDE)knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

7
Phonetic (Greek): ho gar apothanon dedikaiotai apo tes hamartias.
Edified Edition (EDE)For he who has died has been freed from sin.

8
Phonetic (Greek): ei de apethanomen syn Christῷ, pisteyomen hoti kai syzesomen aytῷ·
Edified Edition (EDE)Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,

9
Phonetic (Greek): eidotes hoti Christos egertheis ek nekron oyketi apothnῄskei, thanatos aytoy oyketi kyrieyei·
Edified Edition (EDE)knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.

10
Phonetic (Greek): ho gar apethanen, tῇ hamartiᾳ apethanen ephapax· ho de zῇ, zῇ tῷ theῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

11
Phonetic (Greek): ohytos kai hymeis logizesthe heautoys ⸂einai nekroys men⸃ tῇ hamartiᾳ zontas de tῷ theῷ en Christῷ ⸀Ἰesoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Me oyn basileueto he hamartia en tῷ thnetῷ hymon somati eis to ⸀hypakoyein tais epithymiais aytoy,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

13
Phonetic (Greek): mede paristanete ta mele hymon hopla adikias tῇ hamartiᾳ, alla parastesate heautoys tῷ theῷ ⸀hosei ek nekron zontas kai ta mele hymon hopla dikaiosynes tῷ theῷ.
Edified Edition (EDE)And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

14
Phonetic (Greek): hamartia gar hymon oy kyrieysei, oy gar este hypo nomon alla hypo charin.
Edified Edition (EDE)For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

15
Phonetic (Greek): Ti oyn; ⸀hamartesomen hoti oyk esmen hypo nomon alla hypo charin; me genoito·
Edified Edition (EDE)What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!

16
Phonetic (Greek): oyk oidate hoti ho paristanete heautoys doylous eis hypakoen, doyloi este ho hypakoyete, etoi hamartias eis thanaton e hypakoes eis dikaiosynen;
Edified Edition (EDE)Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ᾧ παριστάνετε ἑαυτοὺς δούλους εἰς ὑπακοήν, δοῦλοί ἐστε ᾧ ὑπακούετε, ἤτοι ἁμαρτίας εἰς θάνατον ἢ ὑπακοῆς εἰς δικαιοσύνην;

17
Phonetic (Greek): charis de tῷ theῷ hoti ete doyloi tes hamartias hypekoysate de ek kardias eis hon paredothete typon didaches,
Edified Edition (EDE)But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

18
Phonetic (Greek): eleutherothentes de apo tes hamartias edoulothete tῇ dikaiosynῃ·
Edified Edition (EDE)And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

19
Phonetic (Greek): anthropinon lego dia ten astheneian tes sarkos hymon· hosper gar parestesate ta mele hymon doyla tῇ akatharsiᾳ kai tῇ anomiᾳ eis ten anomian, ohytos nyn parastesate ta mele hymon doyla tῇ dikaiosynῃ eis hagiasmon.
Edified Edition (EDE)I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness leading to holiness.

20
Phonetic (Greek): Ὅte gar doyloi ete tes hamartias, eleytheroi ete tῇ dikaiosynῃ.
Edified Edition (EDE)For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

21
Phonetic (Greek): tina oyn karpon eichete tote ephʼ ohis nyn epaischynesthe; to gar telos ekeinon thanatos·
Edified Edition (EDE)What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

22
Phonetic (Greek): nyni de, eleutherothentes apo tes hamartias doulothentes de tῷ theῷ, echete ton karpon hymon eis hagiasmon, to de telos zoen aionion.
Edified Edition (EDE)But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

23
Phonetic (Greek): ta gar opsonia tes hamartias thanatos, to de charisma toy theoy zoe aionios en Christῷ Ἰesoy tῷ kyriῳ hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
