Chapter 8
1
Phonetic (Greek): Oyden ara nyn katakrima tois en Christῷ ⸀Ἰesoy·
Edified Edition (EDE)There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

2
Phonetic (Greek): ho gar nomos toy pneymatos tes zoes en Christῷ Ἰesoy eleutherosen ⸀se apo toy nomou tes hamartias kai toy thanatou.
Edified Edition (EDE)For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

3
Phonetic (Greek): to gar adynaton toy nomou, en ho esthenei dia tes sarkos, ho theos ton heautoy yhion pempsas en homoiomati sarkos hamartias kai peri hamartias katekrine ten hamartian en tῇ sarki,
Edified Edition (EDE)For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

4
Phonetic (Greek): hina to dikaioma toy nomou plerothῇ en hemin tois me kata sarka peripatoysin alla kata pneyma·
Edified Edition (EDE)that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5
Phonetic (Greek): ohi gar kata sarka ontes ta tes sarkos phronoysin, ohi de kata pneyma ta toy pneymatos.
Edified Edition (EDE)For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

6
Phonetic (Greek): to gar phronema tes sarkos thanatos, to de phronema toy pneymatos zoe kai eirene·
Edified Edition (EDE)For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7
Phonetic (Greek): dioti to phronema tes sarkos echthra eis theon, tῷ gar nomῳ toy theoy oych hypotassetai, oyde gar dynatai·
Edified Edition (EDE)Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

8
Phonetic (Greek): ohi de en sarki ontes theῷ aresai oy dynantai.
Edified Edition (EDE)So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Edified Edition (EDE)But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

10
Phonetic (Greek): ei de Christos en hymin, to men soma nekron dia hamartian, to de pneyma zoe dia dikaiosynen.
Edified Edition (EDE)And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11
Phonetic (Greek): ei de to pneyma toy egeirantos ⸀ton Ἰesoyn ek nekron oikei en hymin, ho egeiras ⸂ek nekron Christon Ἰesoyn⸃ zῳopoiesei kai ta thneta somata hymon dia ⸂to enoikoyn aytoy pneyma⸃ en hymin.
Edified Edition (EDE)But if the Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised up Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

12
Phonetic (Greek): Ἄra oyn, adelphoi, opheiletai esmen, oy tῇ sarki toy kata sarka zen,
Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

13
Phonetic (Greek): ei gar kata sarka zete mellete apothnῄskein, ei de pneymati tas praxeis toy somatos thanatoyte, zesesthe.
Edified Edition (EDE)For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

14
Phonetic (Greek): hosoi gar pneymati theoy agontai, ohytoi ⸂yhioi eisin theoy⸃.
Edified Edition (EDE)For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

15
Phonetic (Greek): oy gar elabete pneyma douleias palin eis phobon, alla elabete pneyma yhiothesias en ho krazomen· Abba ho pater·
Edified Edition (EDE)For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."

16
Phonetic (Greek): ayto to pneyma symmartyrei tῷ pneymati hemon hoti esmen tekna theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

17
Phonetic (Greek): ei de tekna, kai kleronomoi· kleronomoi men theoy, synkleronomoi de Christoy, eiper sympaschomen hina kai syndoxasthomen.
Edified Edition (EDE)and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

18
Phonetic (Greek): Logizomai gar hoti oyk axia ta pathemata toy nyn kairoy pros ten mellousan doxan apokalyphthenai eis hemas.
Edified Edition (EDE)For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19
Phonetic (Greek): he gar apokaradokia tes ktiseos ten apokalypsin ton yhion toy theoy apekdechetai·
Edified Edition (EDE)For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

20
Phonetic (Greek): tῇ gar mataioteti he ktisis hypetage, oych hekoysa alla dia ton hypotaxanta, ⸀ephʼ helpidi
Edified Edition (EDE)For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

21
Phonetic (Greek): hoti kai ayte he ktisis eleutherothesetai apo tes douleias tes phthoras eis ten eleutherian tes doxes ton teknon toy theoy.
Edified Edition (EDE)because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22
Phonetic (Greek): oidamen gar hoti pasa he ktisis systenazei kai synodinei achri toy nyn·
Edified Edition (EDE)For we know that the whole creation groans and labours with birth pangs together until now.

23
Phonetic (Greek): oy monon de, alla ⸂kai aytoi⸃ ten aparchen toy pneymatos echontes ⸂hemeis kai⸃ aytoi en heautois stenazomen, yhiothesian apekdechomenoi ten apolytrosin toy somatos hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

24
Phonetic (Greek): tῇ gar elpidi esothemen· elpis de blepomene oyk estin elpis, ho gar blepei ⸀tis elpizei;
Edified Edition (EDE)For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

τῇ γὰρ ἐλπίδι ἐσώθημεν· ἐλπὶς δὲ βλεπομένη οὐκ ἔστιν ἐλπίς, ὃ γὰρ βλέπει ⸀τίς ἐλπίζει;

25
Phonetic (Greek): ei de ho oy blepomen elpizomen, diʼ hypomones apekdechometha.
Edified Edition (EDE)But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

26
Phonetic (Greek): Ὡsaytos de kai to pneyma synantilambanetai ⸂tῇ astheneiᾳ⸃ hemon· to gar ti ⸀proseuxometha katho dei oyk oidamen, alla ayto to pneyma ⸀hyperentynchanei stenagmois alaletois,
Edified Edition (EDE)Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27
Phonetic (Greek): ho de eraunon tas kardias oiden ti to phronema toy pneymatos, hoti kata theon entynchanei hyper hagion.
Edified Edition (EDE)Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28
Phonetic (Greek): Oidamen de hoti tois agaposi ton theon panta ⸀synergei eis agathon, tois kata prothesin kletois oysin.
Edified Edition (EDE)And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

29
Phonetic (Greek): hoti ohys proegno, kai proorisen symmorphous tes eikonos toy yhioy aytoy, eis to einai ayton prototokon en pollois adelphois·
Edified Edition (EDE)For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.

30
Phonetic (Greek): ohys de proorisen, toytous kai ekalesen· kai ohys ekalesen, toytous kai edikaiosen· ohys de edikaiosen, toytous kai edoxasen.
Edified Edition (EDE)Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

31
Phonetic (Greek): Ti oyn eroymen pros tayta; ei ho theos hyper hemon, tis kathʼ hemon;
Edified Edition (EDE)What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν πρὸς ταῦτα; εἰ ὁ θεὸς ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν, τίς καθʼ ἡμῶν;

32
Phonetic (Greek): hos ge toy idiou yhioy oyk epheisato, alla hyper hemon panton paredoken ayton, pos oychi kai syn aytῷ ta panta hemin charisetai;
Edified Edition (EDE)He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

ὅς γε τοῦ ἰδίου υἱοῦ οὐκ ἐφείσατο, ἀλλὰ ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν πάντων παρέδωκεν αὐτόν, πῶς οὐχὶ καὶ σὺν αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα ἡμῖν χαρίσεται;

33
Phonetic (Greek): tis enkalesei kata eklekton theoy; theos ho dikaion·
Edified Edition (EDE)Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

34
Phonetic (Greek): tis ho ⸀katakrinon; ⸀Christos ho apothanon, mallon ⸀de ⸀egertheis, hos ⸀kai estin en dexiᾷ toy theoy, hos kai entynchanei hyper hemon·
Edified Edition (EDE)Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

35
Phonetic (Greek): tis hemas chorisei apo tes agapes toy Christoy; thlipsis e stenochoria e diogmos e limos e gymnotes e kindynos e machaira;
Edified Edition (EDE)Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

τίς ἡμᾶς χωρίσει ἀπὸ τῆς ἀγάπης τοῦ Χριστοῦ; θλῖψις ἢ στενοχωρία ἢ διωγμὸς ἢ λιμὸς ἢ γυμνότης ἢ κίνδυνος ἢ μάχαιρα;

36
Phonetic (Greek): kathos gegraptai hoti Ἕneken soy thanatoymetha holen ten hemeran, elogisthemen hos probata sphages.
Edified Edition (EDE)As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."

37
Phonetic (Greek): allʼ en toytois pasin hypernikomen dia toy agapesantos hemas.
Edified Edition (EDE)Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

38
Phonetic (Greek): pepeismai gar hoti oyte thanatos oyte zoe oyte angeloi oyte archai oyte ⸂enestota oyte mellonta oyte dynameis⸃
Edified Edition (EDE)For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,

39
Phonetic (Greek): oyte hypsoma oyte bathos oyte tis ktisis hetera dynesetai hemas chorisai apo tes agapes toy theoy tes en Christῷ Ἰesoy tῷ kyriῳ hemon.
Edified Edition (EDE)nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
