Chapter 2
1
Phonetic (Greek): Sy de lalei ha prepei tῇ hygiainoysῃ didaskaliᾳ.
Edified Edition (EDE)But speak you the things which become sound doctrine:

Σὺ δὲ λάλει ἃ πρέπει τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ.

Phonetic (Greek): presbytas nephalious einai, semnoys, sophronas, hygiainontas tῇ pistei, tῇ agapῃ, tῇ hypomonῇ.
Edified Edition (EDE)That the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience.

πρεσβύτας νηφαλίους εἶναι, σεμνούς, σώφρονας, ὑγιαίνοντας τῇ πίστει, τῇ ἀγάπῃ, τῇ ὑπομονῇ.

Phonetic (Greek): Presbytidas hosaytos en katastemati hieroprepeis, me diabolous ⸀mede oinῳ pollῷ dedoulomenas, kalodidaskalous,
Edified Edition (EDE)The older women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

Πρεσβύτιδας ὡσαύτως ἐν καταστήματι ἱεροπρεπεῖς, μὴ διαβόλους ⸀μηδὲ οἴνῳ πολλῷ δεδουλωμένας, καλοδιδασκάλους,

Phonetic (Greek): hina ⸀sophronizosi tas neas philandrous einai, philoteknous,
Edified Edition (EDE)That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

ἵνα ⸀σωφρονίζωσι τὰς νέας φιλάνδρους εἶναι, φιλοτέκνους,

Phonetic (Greek): sophronas, hagnas, ⸀oikourgoys, agathas, hypotassomenas tois idiois andrasin, hina me ho logos toy theoy blasphemetai.
Edified Edition (EDE)To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

σώφρονας, ἁγνάς, ⸀οἰκουργούς, ἀγαθάς, ὑποτασσομένας τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν, ἵνα μὴ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ βλασφημῆται.

Phonetic (Greek): Toys neoterous hosaytos parakalei sophronein·
Edified Edition (EDE)Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

Τοὺς νεωτέρους ὡσαύτως παρακάλει σωφρονεῖν·

Phonetic (Greek): peri panta seauton parechomenos typon kalon ergon, en tῇ didaskaliᾳ ⸀aphthorian, ⸀semnoteta,
Edified Edition (EDE)In all things showing yourself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, sincerity,

περὶ πάντα σεαυτὸν παρεχόμενος τύπον καλῶν ἔργων, ἐν τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ ⸀ἀφθορίαν, ⸀σεμνότητα,

Phonetic (Greek): logon hygie akatagnoston, hina ho ex enantias entrapῇ meden echon ⸂legein peri hemon⸃ phaylon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

λόγον ὑγιῆ ἀκατάγνωστον, ἵνα ὁ ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐντραπῇ μηδὲν ἔχων ⸂λέγειν περὶ ἡμῶν⸃ φαῦλον.

Phonetic (Greek): Doylous idiois despotais hypotassesthai en pasin, eyarestous einai, me antilegontas,
Edified Edition (EDE)Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

Δούλους ἰδίοις δεσπόταις ὑποτάσσεσθαι ἐν πᾶσιν, εὐαρέστους εἶναι, μὴ ἀντιλέγοντας,

Phonetic (Greek): me nosphizomenous, alla ⸂pasan pistin⸃ endeiknymenous agathen, hina ten didaskalian ⸀ten toy soteros hemon theoy kosmosin en pasin.
Edified Edition (EDE)Not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

μὴ νοσφιζομένους, ἀλλὰ ⸂πᾶσαν πίστιν⸃ ἐνδεικνυμένους ἀγαθήν, ἵνα τὴν διδασκαλίαν ⸀τὴν τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν θεοῦ κοσμῶσιν ἐν πᾶσιν.

Phonetic (Greek): Ἐpephane gar he charis toy ⸀theoy soterios pasin anthropois
Edified Edition (EDE)For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all people,

Ἐπεφάνη γὰρ ἡ χάρις τοῦ ⸀θεοῦ σωτήριος πᾶσιν ἀνθρώποις

Phonetic (Greek): paideyousa hemas, hina arnesamenoi ten asebeian kai tas kosmikas epithymias sophronos kai dikaios kai eysebos zesomen en tῷ nyn aioni,
Edified Edition (EDE)Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;

παιδεύουσα ἡμᾶς, ἵνα ἀρνησάμενοι τὴν ἀσέβειαν καὶ τὰς κοσμικὰς ἐπιθυμίας σωφρόνως καὶ δικαίως καὶ εὐσεβῶς ζήσωμεν ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι,

Phonetic (Greek): prosdechomenoi ten makarian elpida kai epiphaneian tes doxes toy megalou theoy kai soteros hemon ⸂Ἰesoy Christoy⸃,
Edified Edition (EDE)Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

προσδεχόμενοι τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης τοῦ μεγάλου θεοῦ καὶ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν ⸂Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ⸃,

Phonetic (Greek): hos edoken heauton hyper hemon hina lytrosetai hemas apo pases anomias kai katharisῃ heautῷ laon perioysion, zeloten kalon ergon.
Edified Edition (EDE)Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

ὃς ἔδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἵνα λυτρώσηται ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀνομίας καὶ καθαρίσῃ ἑαυτῷ λαὸν περιούσιον, ζηλωτὴν καλῶν ἔργων.

Phonetic (Greek): Tayta lalei kai parakalei kai elenche meta pases epitages· medeis sou periphroneito.
Edified Edition (EDE)These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

Ταῦτα λάλει καὶ παρακάλει καὶ ἔλεγχε μετὰ πάσης ἐπιταγῆς· μηδείς σου περιφρονείτω.
