Chapter 3

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֤lּeh hayu֙ bּene֣y davyi֔d 'ashshe֥r nֽolad-l֖o bּecheber֑on habּek֣or ׀ 'ameno֗n la'achiyno֨'am֙ hayּizere'e'li֔yt shsheniy֙ dּaniyּe֔'l la'abiyga֖yil haֽkּaremeliֽyt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Now these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: The firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second was Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelitess;

וְאֵ֤לֶּה הָיוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י דָויִ֔ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר נֽוֹלַד־ל֖וֹ בְּחֶבְר֑וֹן הַבְּכ֣וֹר ׀ אַמְנֹ֗ן לַאֲחִינֹ֨עַם֙ הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֔ית שֵׁנִי֙ דָּנִיֵּ֔אל לַאֲבִיגַ֖יִל הַֽכַּרְמְלִֽית׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hashshּelishshiy֙ le'abeshshal֣om bּeֽn-ma'aka֔h bּat-tּalema֖y me֣leke gּeshsh֑ur harebiy'i֖y 'adoniyּa֥h ben-chagּiֽyt׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the third was Absalom the son of Maachah, the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; the fourth was Adonijah the son of Haggith;

הַשְּׁלִשִׁי֙ לְאַבְשָׁל֣וֹם בֶּֽן־מַעֲכָ֔ה בַּת־תַּלְמַ֖י מֶ֣לֶךְ גְּשׁ֑וּר הָרְבִיעִ֖י אֲדֹנִיָּ֥ה בֶן־חַגִּֽית׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): hachamiyshshi֥y shshepateya֖h la'abiyta֑l hashshּishshּi֥y yitere'a֖m le'egela֥h 'ishshetּֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)the fifth was Shephatiah, by Abital; the sixth was Ithream, by his wife Eglah.

הַחֲמִישִׁ֥י שְׁפַטְיָ֖ה לַאֲבִיטָ֑ל הַשִּׁשִּׁ֥י יִתְרְעָ֖ם לְעֶגְלָ֥ה אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): shshishshּah֙ nֽolad-l֣o becheber֔on vayּi֨melake-shsha֔m shshe֥ba shshani֖ym veshshishshּa֣h chodashshi֑ym ushsheloshshi֤ym veshshaloshsh֙ shshana֔h mala֖ke bּiyrushshalaiֽm׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)These six were born to him in Hebron; and there he reigned seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years.

שִׁשָּׁה֙ נֽוֹלַד־ל֣וֹ בְחֶבְר֔וֹן וַיִּ֨מְלָךְ־שָׁ֔ם שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִ֖ים וְשִׁשָּׁ֣ה חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וְשָׁלוֹשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'e֥lּeh nulּedu-l֖o bּiyrushshala֑yim shshi֠me'a veshshoba֞b venata֤n ushshelomoh֙ 'arebּa'a֔h lebat-shsh֖u'a bּat-'amּiy'eֽl׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And these were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, four by Bath-shua the daughter of Ammiel.

וְאֵ֥לֶּה נוּלְּדוּ־ל֖וֹ בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑יִם שִׁ֠מְעָא וְשׁוֹבָ֞ב וְנָתָ֤ן וּשְׁלֹמֹה֙ אַרְבָּעָ֔ה לְבַת־שׁ֖וּעַ בַּת־עַמִּיאֵֽל׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veyibecha֥r ve'eliyshshama֖ ve'eliypaֽlet׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Also there were Ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet,

וְיִבְחָ֥ר וֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֖ע וֶאֱלִיפָֽלֶט׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): veno֥gahּ vene֖peg veyapiֽy'a׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

וְנֹ֥גַהּ וְנֶ֖פֶג וְיָפִֽיעַ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ve'eliyshshama֧ ve'eleyada֛ ve'eliype֖let tּishshe'aֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine in all.

וֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֧ע וְאֶלְיָדָ֛ע וֶאֱלִיפֶ֖לֶט תִּשְׁעָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): kּo֖l bּene֣y davi֑yd milּeba֥d bּeֽney-piֽylageshshi֖ym vetama֥r 'achotaֽm׃p

Edified Edition (EDE)These were all the sons of David, besides the sons of the concubines, and Tamar their sister.

כֹּ֖ל בְּנֵ֣י דָוִ֑יד מִלְּבַ֥ד בְּֽנֵי־פִֽילַגְשִׁ֖ים וְתָמָ֥ר אֲחוֹתָֽם׃פ

Phonetic (Hebrew): uben-shshelomo֖h rechabe'a֑m 'abiyּa֥h ben֛o 'asa֥ ben֖o yehoshshapa֥t bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Solomon’s son was Rehoboam; Abijah was his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son,

וּבֶן־שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה רְחַבְעָ֑ם אֲבִיָּ֥ה בְנ֛וֹ אָסָ֥א בְנ֖וֹ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): yora֥m bּen֛o 'achazeya֥hu ben֖o yo'a֥shsh bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son,

יוֹרָ֥ם בְּנ֛וֹ אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ בְנ֖וֹ יוֹאָ֥שׁ בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): amatzeya֧hu ben֛o 'azareya֥h ben֖o yota֥m bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son,

אֲמַצְיָ֧הוּ בְנ֛וֹ עֲזַרְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ יוֹתָ֥ם בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): acha֥z bּen֛o chizeqiyּa֥hu ben֖o menashshּe֥h benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son,

אָחָ֥ז בְּנ֛וֹ חִזְקִיָּ֥הוּ בְנ֖וֹ מְנַשֶּׁ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): am֥on bּen֖o yo'shshiyּa֥hu benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Amon his son, and Josiah his son.

אָמ֥וֹן בְּנ֖וֹ יֹאשִׁיָּ֥הוּ בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubeney֙ yo'shshiyּa֔hu habּekor֙ yochana֔n hashshּeni֖y yehoyaqi֑ym hashshּelishshiy֙ tzideqiyּa֔hu harebiy'i֖y shshalּֽum׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Josiah were Johanan the firstborn, Jehoiakim the second, Zedekiah the third, and Shallum the fourth.

וּבְנֵי֙ יֹאשִׁיָּ֔הוּ הַבְּכוֹר֙ יוֹחָנָ֔ן הַשֵּׁנִ֖י יְהוֹיָקִ֑ים הַשְּׁלִשִׁי֙ צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּ הָרְבִיעִ֖י שַׁלּֽוּם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֖y yehoyaqi֑ym yekaneya֥h ben֖o tzideqiyּa֥h benֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Jehoiakim were Jeconiah his son and Zedekiah his son.

וּבְנֵ֖י יְהוֹיָקִ֑ים יְכָנְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ צִדְקִיָּ֥ה בְנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubeney֙ yekaneya֣h 'asּi֔r shshe'aletּiy'e֖l bּenֽo׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Jeconiah the captive were Shealtiel his son,

וּבְנֵי֙ יְכָנְיָ֣ה אַסִּ֔ר שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵ֖ל בְּנֽוֹ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): umalekּiyra֥m upedaya֖h veshshene'atzּa֑r yeqameya֥h hoshshama֖ unedabeyaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.

וּמַלְכִּירָ֥ם וּפְדָיָ֖ה וְשֶׁנְאַצַּ֑ר יְקַמְיָ֥ה הוֹשָׁמָ֖ע וּנְדַבְיָֽה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֣y pedaya֔h zerubּabe֖l veshshime'i֑y uben-zerubּabel֙ meshshulּa֣m vachananeya֔h ushshelomi֖yt 'achotaֽm׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Pedaiah were Zerubbabel and Shimei. The sons of Zerubbabel were Meshullam and Hananiah; Shelomith was their sister.

וּבְנֵ֣י פְדָיָ֔ה זְרֻבָּבֶ֖ל וְשִׁמְעִ֑י וּבֶן־זְרֻבָּבֶל֙ מְשֻׁלָּ֣ם וַחֲנַנְיָ֔ה וּשְׁלֹמִ֖ית אֲחוֹתָֽם׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): vachashshuba֡h va֠'ohel uberekeya֧h vֽachasadeya֛h y֥ushshab che֖sed chameֽshsh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)And Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-Hesed, five in all.

וַחֲשֻׁבָ֡ה וָ֠אֹהֶל וּבֶרֶכְיָ֧ה וַֽחֲסַדְיָ֛ה י֥וּשַׁב חֶ֖סֶד חָמֵֽשׁ׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): uben-chananeya֖h pּelateya֣h viyshshaֽ'eya֑h bּene֤y repayah֙ bּene֣y 'arena֔n bּene֥y 'obadeya֖h bּene֥y shshekaneyaֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Hananiah were Pelatiah and Jeshaiah; the sons of Rephaiah, the sons of Arnan, the sons of Obadiah, and the sons of Shechaniah.

וּבֶן־חֲנַנְיָ֖ה פְּלַטְיָ֣ה וִישַֽׁעְיָ֑ה בְּנֵ֤י רְפָיָה֙ בְּנֵ֣י אַרְנָ֔ן בְּנֵ֥י עֹבַדְיָ֖ה בְּנֵ֥י שְׁכַנְיָֽה׃ס

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֥y shshekaneya֖h shshema'eya֑h ubene֣y shshema'eya֗h chatּ֡ushsh ve֠yige'al ubari֧ycha une'areya֛h veshshapa֖t shshishshּaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The son of Shechaniah was Shemaiah. The sons of Shemaiah were Hattush, Igeal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat, six in all.

וּבְנֵ֥י שְׁכַנְיָ֖ה שְׁמַעְיָ֑ה וּבְנֵ֣י שְׁמַעְיָ֗ה חַטּ֡וּשׁ וְ֠יִגְאָל וּבָרִ֧יחַ וּנְעַרְיָ֛ה וְשָׁפָ֖ט שִׁשָּֽׁה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): uben-ne'areya֗h 'eleyo'eyna֧y vechizeqiyּa֛h ve'azeriyqa֖m shsheloshshaֽh׃

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Neariah were Elioenai, Hezekiah, and Azrikam, three in all.

וּבֶן־נְעַרְיָ֗ה אֶלְיוֹעֵינַ֧י וְחִזְקִיָּ֛ה וְעַזְרִיקָ֖ם שְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃

Phonetic (Hebrew): ubene֣y 'eleyo'eyna֗y hdyvhv hodaveya֡hu ve'eleyashshi֡yb upelaya֡h ve֠'aqּub veyochana֧n udelaya֛h va'ana֖niy shshibe'aֽh׃s

Edified Edition (EDE)The sons of Elioenai were Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani, seven in all.

וּבְנֵ֣י אֶלְיוֹעֵינַ֗י הדיוהו הוֹדַוְיָ֡הוּ וְאֶלְיָשִׁ֡יב וּפְלָיָ֡ה וְ֠עַקּוּב וְיוֹחָנָ֧ן וּדְלָיָ֛ה וַעֲנָ֖נִי שִׁבְעָֽה׃ס
